- owentU48GT00A must do trip for the Bay of IslandsHad a fantastic time on this half-day tour! The Staff was super professional and casually funny. Very attentive and always just seconds away to help open and close the clear windows if the sea spray or rain was too much. With multiple stops along the way, it was great to see an assortment of islands and the hikes/wildlife. I had forgotten about the snorkeling option on the second island stop and would remind everyone to bring a swimsuit. The boat was super clean and we even got blankets to keep us warm. A reminder that this tour is on the ocean and there were a few rougher spots as some of the islands are more exposed to the ocean but the staff was great at making us feel at ease. To maximize comfort I recomend taking your favorite motion sickness remedies beforehand. The actual hole in the rock is very impressive and we were lucky enough to see a penguin as well as many interesting fish and birds out on the water. I'll recommend this to everyone.
- Jeremy G00Top Paihia Boat CruiseExcellent boat tour - operators really engaging and informative - all round great experience and plenty of involvement activities. Highly recommended and many thanks to the crew.
- Wander1951460028700Lovely trip on the water in the Bay of IslandsSaw lots of wildlife (bottle-nosed dolphins, korora, seals, terns, black backed gulls). This trip has 2 island stops because it can land by the beach, whereas others have only one). Very friendly and helpful locally based team - highly recommend
- G2148KSannab00AMAZING!!!Wow amazing!!! We saw orcas and dolphins which were right beside the boat!!! Not only that, when watching the orcas/dolphins we were told interesting information about them from the crew which made it even more special and great. The history of the islands was clear and very interesting too. The crew were so great, cant recommend enough!!
- Q427BQlizt00Fantastic way to spend a morning!Absolutely wonderful morning. Great and helpful crew. I throughly enjoyed my morning. The trip itself was fantastic .. saw lots and visited 2 islands and had an opportunity to walk and explore. Highly recommended
- alexandersR3339BD00Amazing tour in bay of islandsNice Skipper and Crew. Amazing places and views. Totally worth it. I really recommend it. We just decided on short notice to do the trip. Parking for caravans is close by. Trip was really good, and the chocolate on board really delicious. DO THE TOUR! :)
- Sharon P00Bay of Islands, many sites.Exceptional staff, relaxed comfortable boat trip where I didn't feel I was being squashed in.Local company with balanced knowledge and commendation. Local wildlife and sites.Plenty of time where we stopped to look around.
- S5345RVrobv00Awesome, don't miss this tour. The boat tour was awesome, lots to see with great commentary provides. The boat crew were awesome, and we even got to see some Orcas near the hole the rock, which was a great bonus. I highly recommend this as the best way to experience the bay of Islands.
- cassie279200Spectacular crew and views! We had amazing weather for our tour! The staff were the best and so friendly! It’s a locally run business and they share all their knowledge and history of the Bay of Islands. You get to see some incredible views and we were lucky enough to be able to cruise through the Hole in the Rock. Cannot recommend this tour if you want a highlight tour of the Bay of Islands!
- Explore6006417884000Check weather conditions yourself, provider won’t notify unless extreme weatherWe took the Hole in the Rock tour, boat service was great, staff was very friendly and caring. MetService forecast predicted bad weather for this day, there is also a boating forecast in MetService that predicted bad conditions (score 1) but the provider didn’t cancel so we thought it was ok. We didn’t end up seeing the Hole in the rock that day due obvious weather conditions. The provider should be more transparent about this and give customers the option to not go if they can’t see the place they are paying for. Check the weather conditions yourself and cancel 24h before if you want a refund because they won’t cancel unless extreme weather and won’t offer any partial refunds if you can’t make it to the destination you paid for.
- 247bettyo00Island Getaway Excursion Is A Must DoPerfect day. Crew are awesome. Grest commentary from a local guide about the area. The business supports local initiatives and the people, You get to experience two islands stop-overs, rather just one. We were very thrilled to see sea life. The boat is large, new and very comfortable. Take your own snacks and you can buy your lunch on one of the islands. If you looking for a memorable experience book with Island Getaway.
- Happiness1475801963200Amazing day in the Bay!Amazing way to spend the day in the Bay of Islands! Great weather with great crew/hosts in one of the gems of New Zealand. Our trip included 2 Island stop overs which offered walks up to 360° views of the bay, clear warm water for swimming or simply relaxing on the shoreline. We also ventured out to the Cape Brett Peninsula and out to the world famous hole in the rock and were fortunate to encounter Penguins, Furr seals and Dolphins! The vessel we were on (Arataki) is a new and purpose built vessel for the tour which delivered Amazing results for everyone, it was very spacious, had a bathroom onboard, cold drinks available, blankets for keeping warm and no matter where you were sitting you had a Amazing view. We had great commentary and hosting from Hamish and Tish. Can't reccomend this trip enough. Suitable for people of all ages. Thanks you so much Hamish, Tish and Adam.
- William B00Small group tour compared to other tours with ability to stop at beaches those others can’t. Very friendly crew.Newer boat, more personal experience. Was able to go through the hole and stop at beaches. Just seemed less regimented. Would recommend to everyone looking for a great day. Crew was fabulous and knowledgeable. The main guide’s family had owned one of the islands so could get into personal commentary. Just do it
- 56lenb00Trip to the hole rocked...Had a great trip out to the Hole in the Rock. Travelling with 3 chn who were entertained throughout the voyage through great views, interesting commentary. As well as plenty of wildlife including penguins, seals, dolphins along with an array of sea birds and fish. Vessel was spotless and comfortable with friendly and knowledgeable crew. Weather was good and sea calm. Highly recommend this local company to take you out there you won't be disappointed.
- 785lynnc00Best cruise in the Bay!This trip was a highlight of our NZ travels! Tisha and skipper Hamish were welcoming and knowledgeable. We stopped on two islands and were able to walk up to high points of both. The views were stunning! We were also given brief histories of the bay and the islands we visited, and info of ongoing environmental work to rid the islands of pests dangerous to the beloved kiwi and other birds. And of course the Hole in the Rock was not to be missed. We were able to motor through it! This cruise can take up to 50 people, much fewer than other cruises. There were less than 20 the day we went (in the winter) so we got lots of individual attention. Highly recommend!

If you are visiting the Bay of Islands, I'd put this at the top of the list of things to do. You get an incredible day out and the tour is considerably cheaper than most of the tours offered by other companies.
Lin and Jake did an amazing job of making everyone feel welcome and as result everyone on board were happy getting to know and talk teach each other throughout the day. They both have a really good knowledge of the area to learn new things along the away.
The islands they take you to are amazing. One of them had another small tour group and the second island we had completely to ourselves. It was great being at spots which weren't packed with people and we could enjoy to ourselves.
The islands are stunning, water is beautiful and you get to see plenty of wildlife
along the way. There's fun activities to do, coffee, biscuits and tea.
If you are in the area, do this tour. You won't be disappointed!

We had a great time on the Island Tour and are really happy we went for the 5 hour tour. The time flew by and was a great way to check out the sights and also relax on the beach. The staff (Lin and Eloise) were very relaxed and friendly, and also gave us the full Kiwi experience. The experience was well worth the money and I would definitely recommend it to everyone going to the Bay of Islands.

This was the second time I've booked a Sea Shuttle trip while on holiday in Paihia and I will absolutely do it again! Linford and Blue were amazing hosts and provided the best experience. You learn a fair bit about the history of New Zealand and the Bay of Islands and even about some of the local wildlife. During the trip, you stop at different islands and are given time to explore, paddle board, snorkel, and have a bite to eat. The trip isn't too long or too short and has a perfect pace of activities vs downtime. The Sea Shuttle crew are sincerely the nicest and most professional people and I'm definitely looking forward to booking another trip the next time I'm in Paihia!

We had the best time on this excursion! It was very comfortable and relaxing. We hiked to lookout points, explored desolate beaches, snorkeled, SUP’d and saw what felt like the entire bay of islands. The best part was our tour guide, Lin, who made everyone feel welcome, safe and like we learned a good bit about the area. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Thanks again Lin!

We all enjoyed the cruise and tried to come up with what was missing. Cold drinks for morning tea? That very minor point aside our guide Linford was informative and seemed genuinely interested in our enjoyment. We appreciated the time available to relax, explore or partake in water activities at our second main stop and our exploration of the islands. A very relaxing last day in Northland for all four of us. Highly recommended.

My husband and I loved this trip! Our guides/captain gave us a wonderful tour of the islands with stops to:
1. Walk up to a lookout on one island (we saw a kiwi bird on this walk which brought tears to the eyes of a native NZer on the trip who had never seen one in the wild before)
2. Snorkel and hike a bit and have lunch on a different island
3. Look for marine life in the ocean and enjoy a day out on the water
Highly recommended. You can either bring your own lunch or pay for the very good one they provide. A great way to enjoy a beautiful part of New Zealand!

What a fun afternoon in the beautiful Bay of Islands!
We were met by our super friendly guide Nic and taken out to the beautiful bay. Stopped on Robertson Island for some history and stunning views. Then on to a sheltered bay for play time snorkelling, paddle-boarding and enjoying the stunning bay. Loved the smaller more personalised experience - would HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We are looking for slow cruise so could you let us know if this is a fast boat or a slow cruising boat
Our cruise ship does not dock until 10:00 a.m. on April 15. We would like to take this tour but it also leaves at 10:00 a.m. Will it be leaving any later time that day to accommodate cruise ship passengers? Please advise. Thank you.

Hello. Each ship that comes into the Bay of islands is on a different schedule, but we ensure that on a cruiseship day, we will always be back on the Paihia Wharf at 3pm.

Kia ora Adam and Caity. Your day out sounds perfect for when we bring our UK friends up to the Bay of Islands at the beginning of Feb. Two years ago we had arranged to hire a sailing boat for 3 days but the weather was so bad we couldn't go. Now they only do 5 day hires which we can't afford (time or money!) so we are looking for great alternatives. So if we come to you for what sounds like a splendid day would you have a recommendation for another day on the water that would offer a different experience to yours. Cream boat perhaps? Do we need to book for Feb 5th?
Thanks Carolyne
