About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- dealyb990 contributionsGreat day at Piha and the bush areaReally enjoyed learning about the history and culture of the bush area from Jason, our guide, who was very knowledgeable about the area and its history. It was a real pleasure to spend time with the group and him. Our family agreed it was a great trip and we were glad we went.Written 28 November 2024
- Praveen A0 contributionsGood ExperienceDon’t miss Piha beach. It’s exclusive. I will we had spent more time there. Overall tour was good. Tours operators did a nice jobWritten 28 November 2024
- momof2wildchilds0 contributionsRainforest & Beach funGreat afternoon fun for my teen daughter & I with Erin as our guide. Fun to visit the visitors center & see the beach from above. Then a hike thru the rainforest. Saw a pair of amazing pigeons. No eels wanting to munch on our crumbs in the stream. Beautiful hike on the beach to the blow hole. Erin was super personable & very kind. Crazy how the volcanic black sand is so magnetic. Thanks for dropping us back in town for a little shopping before they closed. Needed to spend our NZ $ as we were going hm in AM.Written 26 November 2024
- Dream241622539140 contributionsSurreal man made and natural beauty in one dayThis combo tour was a fantastic way to spend a day outside of Auckland. Murray served as our extremely knowledgeable and humorous guide. He had tidbits of information about the landscape, animals, and local economy at every turn. I learned so much about NZ’s history and culture! The lunch served at Hobbiton’s Green Dragon was impressive, and the Waitomo caves were a wonder to behold. Just make sure to keep the flash off to keep the experience enjoyable for everyone!Written 25 November 2024
- N4030IMmelissam0 contributionsStunning scenery and local insights - great Auckland day trip!Thank you, Milton and Michelle, for a wonderful day exploring the stunning Piha Beach and the surrounding rainforest! I truly appreciated your warmth and friendliness. It was a privilege to learn about the area from someone who grew up here, and your insights made the experience even more special. This was a true highlight of our first trip to Auckland, and I highly recommend it as a day trip for anyone visiting the city, especially if you don’t have access to a car.Written 24 November 2024
- Q996OXvickiec0 contributionsPhil Beach and Rainforest tramping.Guides Tony and Noel were AMAZING. Thanks for the incredible info, humor, friendliness and knowledge. The forest walk, overlooks and black sand beach was Spectacular. Loved it all.Written 23 November 2024
- Ramnath R0 contributionsSpectacular views and experience of the Tasman coast line near Auckland in North Island !This was a great way to spend a beautiful sunny and pleasant day in the surrounding nature of Auckland. The day tour takes you to the west coast of the North Island along the shores of the Tasman Sea. You get to see some spectacular views of the coast line while walking/hiking through the beautiful forests, parks and beaches near Auckland. There were several convenient pickup and drop off spots near Auckland CBD area (downtown Auckland, where most hotels and Airbnbs are). I was with a small group of 4 solo travelers to New Zealand, so it made it a great personable experience as well. Meredith, who was my group's tour guide was a great personality and was quite engaging and informative along the way. This made the experience wholesome. She was also quite accommodating to needs of every individual in the group. A fun picnic style lunch (traditional NZ pies) with views of the Tasman Sea was a tranquil experience. Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to do a day trip to explore the nature around Auckland and even as a warm-up to all the exploring you may be planning while visiting New Zealand.Written 20 November 2024
- R3939IZjennifert0 contributionsFantastic tour guide, seamless day!I just did the Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves tour with Damian- who was my favourite tour guide in my travels across NZ! What a knowledgeable, funny and personable guide, who really made me feel like I was on a tour with a friend! Very well managed tour, everything was seamless. Comfortable vehicle too. Highly recommend, thanks so much Damian- you’re a star!Written 17 November 2024
- Noyal S0 contributionsGreat Hosts and Learning opportunityJase and Noel were really engaging hosts/guides. The tour was very informative and the guys kept it really engaging. Would recommend this trip. I really learnt a lot about the local cultureWritten 14 November 2024
- mozhgank0 contributionsunforgettable Hobbiton Tour, Thanks Bush and BeachWe had an amazing tour of Hobbiton with Bush and Beach! Our guide, Deimean, was fantastic—full of interesting stories and super thoughtful. He even stopped at a supermarket to introduce us to a special New Zealand ice cream and encouraged us to try it. Such a memorable experience! Highly recommend, and big thanks to Deimean for making it unforgettable! Mozhgan already missing you DeimeanWritten 14 November 2024
- Compass2254760 contributionsBest day ever!Ofcourse Hobbiton is beautiful beyond words, as are the Waitomo Caves. I never expected any less. But what made the tour perfect was our driver guide Damian. Such a kind man, with a deep love for his country and very knowledgeable about the countryside we were travelling through and the locations we were visiting. 100% recommended!Written 13 November 2024
- Keith R0 contributionsUnbelievable detail and realism. We went on the Hobbiton and Waitaimo Caves tour. Our guide, Wayne, was a blast. Knowledgeable and full of jokes and anecdotes. Hobbiton was absolutely amazing and should definitely be on anyone's list to visit when in New Zealand. The attention to detail was unbelievable!. The hobbit house tour was as realistic as it gets and the meal provided at the end of the tour was excellent. The cave tour was also nice and the glow worms were something I did not even know existed but paled in comparison to HobbitonWritten 10 November 2024
- marcgM5346PJ0 contributionsIf you want an amazing trip this is the place to go. Cannot wait to come back with family and see even moreToday was able to join the Hobbiton movie set tour with Wayne and the crew. Wayne is just an amazing tour guide and has an amazing sense of humor along with amazing knowledge of the area. His knowledge of the area was amazing that when the highway had a crash he used his experience to re route the van to get us all back to our hotels on time and with a lot more humor to share with friend and family The tour of the movie set was just top notch and the meal on set was so goodWritten 9 November 2024
- Road372608331400 contributionsHighlight of our tripI can't reccomend Bush and Beach highly enough. From pick up at our hotel, right through to drop off, the experience was perfect. Our guide Damien has been a highlight of our trip so far, a wealth of knowledge so generously shared, was the perfect set up for the rest of our stay. From the history of New Zealand, the nature and surroundings, right through to sports and restaurants, we learned it all! While our trip to Hobbiton was an amazing 10/10 experience, I would say the journey there and back with Damien's narration was worthy of the trip in its own right! If only we could bring Bush and Beach along on the rest of our trip, we'd have the perfect set up! thanks so much to Damien & team, you really made our trip!Written 9 November 2024
- K4564RXterryw0 contributionsMemorable TourLoved this tour! Annie and Peter were the best guides. Such a treat to see this part of New Zealand with people who love the land and want to share it with others. Thanks for the tea party at the beach.Written 9 November 2024

Lovely relaxed morning tour excellent for seeing the highlights and getting the lay of the land with a small group of 18 people top. We lucked out with Murray, our guide and driver who told us many interesting facts about this lovely city and the nation, answered every wuestion we threw at him and graced us with a modicum of his dry and witty humor all the while driving us safely and punctually to our next stop. The whole company seems to be well run and organised, with up to 15 well kept small vans interacting to get the groups together and the various tours running on time. Recommended!

A good introduction to Auckland and some of its sites. The guide, Tony, was fantastic ... informative, kind and funny. We did get to see a lot, even if I wish we could have seen even more sites, but one can only cover so much ground within 3 hours. Would recommend.

Great way to see the best of Auckland in a few hours. Wayne was exceptional for a male he managed to do two things at once, brilliantly - drive and talk the leg off an iron pot! His knowledge was amazing and he managed to get us through Auckland traffic without any dramas. Would highly recommend.

I booked into this tour late having arrived in Auckland at approx 0430 and only deciding to do the tour around 0730. Despite this, the hotel pick up at 0845 was arranged and went without a hitch. The tour itself was fine - got to see a few highlights around Auckland which generated some ideas for what to do in more detail the next day. Plenty of time was allowed to look around and takes photos etc. Yes I'd recommend this as a good intro to the sights around Auckland.

Mr. Wayne Thomas has been truly friendly and amazing in explaining details and history of Auckland through out our half day tour in the city. Bringing us to many places in a short three hours tour. Would definitely use the tour service again next time when I come back to visit with larger group. Thank you once again Wayne!

Let me start by saying that I bloody hate tourist tours. I really, really, bloody hate them. I only booked this tour because I had a spare day in Auckland and thought it might be good to be whizzed around the city rather then getting public transport. So glad I booked this it was fantastic. The small group discovery tour is an excellent quick stop introduction to the sights of Auckland. As stated it is a small tour, we had good craic and lots of laughs on the minibus. The driver/guide was excellent. So much so that I asked to stay on board for the west Auckland and Piha tour in the afternoon. Most people did, they had to arrange another bus. More laughs, more great craic and a really enjoyable day. The guide was really knowledgeable about New Zealand history, fauna and flora, and tips for travelers. We had a little picnic at Piha beach and the driver and guide were genuinely interested in where we from, what we got up to etc. It was all so friendly and relaxed and I came away feeling like I had seen and done a lot. If you only have a short time in Auckland these are people to go to, if you want to feel welcomed, looked after and to see as much as possible. Price very reasonable and they will pick up from central hotels. Thank you Bush and Beach for your hospitality. Will be recommending to everyone in UK lucky enough to visit beautiful New Zealand.

Alex was our guide and he was great. Passionate about Auckland and with a great sense of humor. They celebrate 40 year in business so they must be doing something right!
