What to Expect
Start with a pickup from your Auckland hotel, then relax during the drive to your first destination, the Arataki Visitor Centre, the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges. Here, see traditional Maori carvings and get great photo ops of the rainforest, Tasman Sea, and Pacific Ocean. Then hear from your guide about the region’s history and ecosystem as you head to Auckland’s wild west coast. Enjoy time to walk along Piha Beach and check out its distinctive black sand.
Continue to a lush rain forest for a leisurely nature walk that passes giant tree ferns where a variety of birds live. Your guide points out native flora and fauna along the way.
