- carolwQ80IA0 contributionsBirds were amazing, and so closeI wanted to go for the birds. I saw so many birds it was fantastic. The guided walk was amazing(a little longer than told) there is a lot of steps on the boardwalks. All in all I’m so glad I went.Written 24 March 2025
- JrnyJunkie0 contributionsLoved, loved, loved this experience1We had a wonderful time on our sailboat. The skipper and his crews of one other person did a fantastic job of caring for us. It was so much fun being able to steer the ship. Our weather was a bit overcast, but perhaps better than a strong hot sun.Written 8 March 2025
- michaelm9510 contributionsRipped offWarning! If you are coming on a cruise ship be very careful. I booked this at 2pm because Royal Carribean told me the ship departed at 5:30 so I deduced that I had plenty of of time for this activity only to be told on the boat that the last shuttle bus was at 4pm. Explor had zero sympathy and I lost my money. Not happyWritten 8 March 2025
- karenbauer20 contributionsSet sail for an experience on water.Wonderful experience on the water. Our crew was well experienced and shared their knowledge and put those who wanted to help crew the boat. Impressive on how responsive this boat was. It was a beautiful relaxing sail.Written 8 March 2025
- 174tamaraf0 contributionsFun day on the oceanEnjoyed a day on the sailing vessel with an experienced crew. The tourists got to many the cranks to raise the sails. Then we flew over the water. Everyone was smiling with happiness until we had to return to the harbor.Written 7 March 2025
- N7620SPpeterr0 contributionsSail boat excursion in Auckland harborFun experience on a real Americs Cup sailing boat, fun crew, beautiful surroundings, and harbor. Day had light wind, so the captain gave free passes for another trip to make up for it.Written 6 March 2025
- SMSS_730 contributionsNot your average lazy-day sailing! This was an extremely fun day out on the water: great way to see Auckland harbour. Trip was about 2 hours. Participants can just sit back and enjoy the ride or can help hoist the sails/drive the boat. Crew was very friendly. And great customer service: the day we went out had no wind (not the company's fault) and the company gave out vouchers for the group to try again a different day! Would highly recommend. But note: i don't think this activity is accessible to people with mobility devices (would need to check with the company).Written 5 March 2025
- M635PCmanuelas0 contributionsLovely cruise in the afternoonNice and relaxed cruise along the harbor and coast. Friendly skipper. We enjoyed. Only one thing was missing: the promised Complimentary tea, coffee or hot chocolate and cookieWritten 3 March 2025
- philipeng0 contributionsFun day in the harbour!Had a great sail on NZL-68. The skipper was skilled and knowledgeable. The 3 crew members were friendly and skilled. Of course, this was weather dependent, and we had a perfect day. Enough wind to get the boat moving reasonably fast and mostly sunny skies to make for a perfect day. Everyone got a chance to steer the boat and to work the grinders. It all made for a real sailing experience.Written 2 March 2025
- Penny M0 contributionsSo much fun to have a hands on experience sailing an America’s Cup boatCrew were great and it was a delight being on a sailboat built for such speed. While the wind was not completely cooperative, it was good enough for us to get a first had experience of sailing an America’s Cup boat. I learned a lot about the design differences with most sailboats and my husband loved taking the helm. We are both avid sailors and this was the most fun thing we did in Auckland.Written 2 March 2025
- sandman3330 contributionsGreat sailIt was excellent. Great crew and wonderful experience. The harbor views were beautiful. My wife and I really enjoyed it. (We are in our 70's).Written 2 March 2025
- GO2HI0 contributionsTreading waterA fabulous, full day (9:30am to 5:30pm out on the water. Couple of hours at Man ‘o War island (where lunch is surprisingly good at the winery!) Had a full day at our disposal before flying out late at night, so a highly recommended way to pass the time!Written 1 March 2025
- MrsCockburn0 contributionsA definite must do when in Auckland. What an absolute privilege to be able to visit the beautiful island of Rotorua. Our ferry from Auckland was comfortable and right on schedule. Plenty of time to enjoy the island and its beaches. Take a picnic (remember to take all your rubbish off the island with you! ) and plenty of water. There is a small shop on island but it’s only open for a short amount of time and has some souvenirs and a small selection of juice/ice lollies. Would definitely recommend this trip!Written 26 February 2025
- O3591FRemilyb0 contributionsTourist trap!!You can buy round trip ferry ticket for $60 NZD and then bus to a vineyard easily ...how is this offering anything more?? If I'm wrong correct me but this is just an overpriced ferry that doesn't even offer food or drinks.Written 26 February 2025

The crew was a trio of friendly 20 somethings who were attentive and entertaining. The food was mediocre, but the cruise around the harbor was beautiful! The commentary was just enough and the crew played fun songs to sing along to. We had a patch of downpour and each cruiser was provided a thick sailing raincoat. As long as you don’t set expectations too high for food quality (we had the fish of the day and pumpkin dish as entrees and the coffee and coconut desserts; people who had the chocolate cake said that it was AMAZING), you’ll love the experience.

Checking location was a little difficult to find but other than that this was a great trip. Sailing home was great and a spectacular view of the city and harbour lit up at night. Crew were professional and welcoming. We had a rain but the jackets provided kept me dry and warm.

It was one hell of a tour. The sailboat was very nice, the views were amazing, the skyline was great to see from the harbour and so were other landmarks including the Harbour Bridge. The tour guides were very warm, friendly, engaging and smiling all the time. The food was served nicely. They didn’t get my dessert selection right but that was fine. It was a beautiful evening with lots of nice people and the sailboat team. You get to drive the boat as well and see the hoisting of the sails which was a once in a lifetime experience.

18 guess crammed onto a 51 ft sailboat does NOT mean much elbow room!! The details available beforehand were sketchy in the extreme- half the group were expecting a motorised cruise under cover. It turns out this was true both ways as the captain and crew manfully tried to cope with a lack of info ( who ordered which meals etc) and proper supplies.
Very disappointingly given the supposedly premium nature of the trip, only the first drink was included, with everything chargeable thereafter. Within 30 minutes the rosé was finished with nothing else half drinkable for the rest of the two and a half hours!
We were last to be served food and found someone else had taken our order.
The sailing itself was fun , with plenty of 45degree list in a strong breeze; the tack back was enjoyable.
Good, long suffering skipper and crew let down by very poor logistical support.

My Husband and I, thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We were running late due to an accident on the motorway and the explore team were so accommodating and understanding.
The food (especially the chicken dish) was delicious! the atmosphere and sailboat cruise itself was also faultless.
only thing we would recommend is to perhaps have some soft music playing in the background, but other than that, it was a beautiful experience.

To celebrate a birthday, we took the dinner cruise and were very happy. Although the weather was not perfect we experienced a nice combination of motoring and sailing on Auckland's harbour. The dinner was very good, and we could eat 'downstairs' or up on deck as we chose. Two points to note - we hadn't brought warm jackets as the website said windproof and rainproof jackets were available. In the event, we were told they were very bulky and would be not easy to wear while eating the meal so no one borrowed them. Also the website said we would tie up in Westhaven Marina to eat, but not so, we ate while sailing. That was no problem, just not expected. All in all a pleasant experience.

We really enjoyed the trip and it is really a unique dining experience and a must do in Auckland.
I will definitely recommend this activity to my friends and family, attached some photos I took on the trip.
I would like to extend my gratitude to Lara, Noel, Karen and the other lady’s name which I forgot, they were very accommodating, friendly and definitely a 5star service!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner cruise as an introduction to sailing! The skipper, Bridget and Ellie (?) were so impressive hosting 17 people for dinner while operating a boat. The weather was a little cold but not terrible. The provided blankets were a nice touch. As a suggestion, for guests who are especially cold, maybe options for purchase of hot liquids might be worthwhile. Overall, this was our most memorable time with locals, and would highly recommend it to future visitors.

We live in Auckland and due to the current event across the globe we are enjoying more of what our own city has to offer. We booked the sunset dinner cruise as a fun outing for us and our 6 year old son. We all enjoyed it immensely, the crew especially the skipper were fantastic and ensured everyone on board had a great time. Would recommend this cruise for anyone living in Auckland or visiting. Will definitely try out their other cruises on offer. Thanks for a great evening!

The most inspired part of the trip shouldn't be either dinning on the boat or admiring the views of the harbour, but the combination of both. You will be amazed when having a cup of drink and some food on the boat sailing in the harbour of Auckland under the setting sun.
The chews are friendly. You're able to drive the boat under the supervision of captain for a period of time (quiet long for me in fact).
