About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- S796AUcurtism0 contributionsDitch the TourTime management was poor. Only a few minutes to get out of the bus at a few stops. Would recommend just getting a bike and ditching the tour so you can spend time looking around.Written 14 January 2025
- TazTraveller150 contributionsTotally recommend! What an amazing day! Sealink ferries were on time and I loved the offer of icy poles for the crossing. The Luxe Seafood cruise was not super clear on where it left from but we found it and had a ball. The chef provided amazing small courses throughout the journey. The flavours were amazing. They even catered for people not eating seafood! We loved our swim and the floating mat when we anchored in calm waters, and appreciated the shark deterrent. Hauling up the lobster pots was made into a very fun activity where we could put our hand up to help. We learnt a lot about lobsters. The crew were amazing! Ti brought the energy and positivity all the way through, while being very alert to all potential issues and casually ensuring safety at all times e.g. making sure ropes were not going to catch anyone. She is incredible! The crew were always present to assist with anything we wanted, and provided lots of water, sunscreen etc to help keep us safe. Our captain was excellent and made us feel safe, while also being very fun. I can be a bit of an old Health and Safety worrier - but this crew were so fun while being so professional. Can't wait to save the money and go again!Written 12 January 2025
- Matt C0 contributionsExceptional Staff - Beyond AmazingI was on the ferry that departed at 4pm on 7th Jan from Rottnest to Fremantle, at the time of the tragic seaplane crash that occured. The crew were amazing. Many would have seen the accident happen, potentially known the pilot or people involved. They stepped up at the time, asking passengers to not take photos or use their phones, respecting the unfolding incident and the sensitivity of the situation; which I believe everyone did, it was amazing leadership from the crew, at a time of certain distress for many of them. They communicated to passengers in an extremely caring and understanding manner, suggesting that if anyone needs help to talk a little what had just happened, the services of lifeline and other such organisations are available. The care and professionalism was exceptional, the boat crew that day saw something nobody should experience, someone’s worst nightmare and last moments alive - yet they had the ferry’s passengers welfare in their minds the whole time - it’s really had an impact on me just how amazing they were. I can’t begin to express my deep thoughts and condolences for the crew on that day - they are very special people and I hope they are looking after themselves, and want to thank them for what they did on that trip. If anyone is headed to Rottnest - this company to travel with, they are genuinely caring and amazing people.Written 8 January 2025
- tewperth0 contributionsFelt like a privileged passenger, not part of the cattleThe boat, the service, was nothing but excellent, unfortunately I had a fall going on the boat, the staff looked after me, and I was very impressed by the standard of the boat, cleanliness, and overall serviceWritten 8 January 2025
- Discover441229171190 contributionsTrip to Rottnest. Our guests loved every bit of the day! The beauty of the island; its nature and beaches, the cute quokkas. The history was a sombre reminder of man’s inhumanity, the reparation road is right on track. The ferry trips gave them another view of the city. A memorable day for all.Written 5 January 2025
- gillyv20250 contributionsFab first visit to RottoGreat day trip to Rotto. Booked tickets on line day before departure. Travelled from Perth to Fremantle and got the 7:00am ferry as wanted to be there early. Didn’t end up hiring bikes as they were all booked out on line. But will def do this next time. Quick 30 min voyage. Spotted our first Quokkas and did our selfies when we first arrived as pretty quiet. . Ended up with 3 separate photo shoots during the day. Walked to the military section and explored the heritage sites. So much to learn about the part the Island had in the war etc. back to the settlement for lunch and refreshments at the pub. Such a lovely spot. Getting busy around lunch time as more people arriving on the ferries. after exploring the lighthouse section and beaches we left on the 2:30pm ferry as we wanted some time in Fremantle too. I think next time we will stay the night and get bikes. So much more to explore - but for our first trip it was amazing. Lovely beaches, lovely Quokkas. Only thing I was surprised at was some of the state of the houses in the settlement. Could do with a clean up!Written 4 January 2025
- Matthew V0 contributionsGreat boat plenty of seatingWe did the Fremantle direct then Perth return. Don’t bother, once in the swan river they can’t go faster than 8km so the ride just drags on. Great staff, extremely friendly.Written 4 January 2025
- Rochelle S0 contributionsMeika is a gem!I was planning a day trip with my partner to Rottnest and had quite a few questions regarding the tickets and ferry times. I called up and spoke to Meika and she was really nice and accomodating, she answered all my questions and helped me book my tickets. Highly recommend speaking to her if you are planning a trip.Written 29 December 2024
- Serendipity290 contributionsOvernight tripExpensive trip to get to family. Must now be on par with IOW ferry or more expensive!!! $101.50 for an overnight return for an adult. Definitely prices many out of the enjoyment of Rotto. Although competitors pricing relative. Entrance price for island adds sting in the tail, along with cost to use bus. Staff pleasant, efficient and effective completing their jobs. Free icy pole included on outward trip though 😀Written 28 December 2024
- Ange7170 contributionsInteresting but unorganised at the ferry end when disembarking.Really nice tour starting with a return ferry trip with entertaining , pleasant staff. Ship clean and captain pointing out dolphins etc.( Make sure before boarding that your ticket is the kind with a scanning code or you will have to get it exchanged at the booth, right at the top of the walkway and be delayed.) Once docked at Rottnest it is a short walk to the main area where there are volunteers to help you and give you maps of the island. There are very many variations of trips and there should be someone there to show you where the railway station is for example as it is not clearly signposted. We only just made it for the ride to the guns. Really nice stay on the island and of course the quokkas to see in the very crowded cafe areas. They don't seem bothered by the people if following the rules. Informative talk about the guns and a picnic lunch at the top of the hill then a return coach to the town stopping off at viewpoints. Can't fault the trip or the ferry except for the confusion once landed as to where to go first for which trip! Beaches were amazing and there are bikes to hire but it would be hot work!Written 17 December 2024
- T0mA640 contributionsGreat tripWe went using sealink ferries. They were a good choice, friendly efficient and on time both ways. The island is lovely and great to cycle around. There are lovely beaches nice places to eat and of course the quokkas that are very cute. Well worth a visitWritten 14 December 2024
- Climber117824570790 contributionsFlies all aroundToo many flies, it's annoying so much. Would the government try to fix it? There's quokka poo everywhere, the enviorment In Rottnest Island is very poor, need to be improved.Written 11 December 2024
- Pricey090 contributionsExcellent Tour of Rottnest Is. from PerthThe tour was well worth doing. We explored all parts of Rottness Is. which would have been impossible on our own. The guide was excellent. Leaving from Perth was a bonus for us. Unfortunately, nowhere on the SeaLink ferry could you hear the commentary - very disappointing and when we complained they said they couldn't do anything about it. The meeting spot at the "settlement train station" was extremely difficult to find. Noone seemed to know where it was, which meant a lot of extra walking for nothing.Written 10 December 2024
- K5239LRpeters0 contributionsAmazing boat tripFantastic trio down the river to Fremantle then across to Rottnest Island for 2 days The staff so friendly and the boat is a pleasure to be on the commentary down to Fremantle was first classWritten 7 December 2024
- travelbugbitten100 contributionsInteresting history and beautiful beachesWe really enjoyed our trip to Rottnest Island, and the Grand Island Tour including the train, guns and tunnel tour. The ferry trip got a little rough when closer to Rottnest, and also on the way home was even more rough. Dome Cafe was huge and very good service and drinks. The staff who met us at Fremantle to assist with check in and boarding were very welcoming, and all day, the staff and volunteers were very committed to their jobs and responsibility. Great to see such commitment and such love for their work and the island.Written 7 December 2024

Loved everything except the Swan River commentary, the reason we chose to start in Perth.
By the time safety instructions and loud music stopped we were way past Kings Park and city area so didn’t even get a mention. For the age demographic of most customers on this section, more detail and less or no music would have been appreciated.

We traveled by SeaLink from Barrack St Wharf to Rottnest and then back to Fremantle later the same day.
The commentary on the boat was excellent and informative and the staff were very helpful & friendly. Likewise on the return trip we received great service, especially from the bar tender who ensured that we enjoyed a cold beer. The boat was comfortable and safe,m and we really enjoyed the trips in both directions.
On the Island we used the hop on/Hop Off bus to get around, and also enjoyed entertaining commentaries by the bus drivers (who were very helpful too).

Hi 'HayeNZ'
Your day at Rottnest Island sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing your experience.
Our Skipper does a fantastic job providing commentary on our new direct Perth ferry to Rottnest Island. What a beautiful way to start your morning with a cruise on the Swan River before arriving at Rottnest. We love that you found our staff to be helpful and friendly as that is what we strive for as a company!
Again thank you for the great review and we look forward to welcoming you back on-board soon!
Kind Regards,
Maddison at SeaLink Rottnest Island.

This is a really fun trip to do and it's marginally cheaper than booking the ferry and the bus trip on Rottnest Island separately on their own. Although do note that a) the bus trip doesn't let you off anywhere. If you want that option, get the hop on, hop off bus. On this bus tour though you do get some excellent commentary, and b) once the bus tour is done after about 1 3/4 - 2 hours, you're left to your own devices.

SeaLink office staff were great to deal with when we were let down by our taxi for our booked tour and transferred us to another day. Rottnest is a wonderful place to visit with amazing scenery and a fairly surprising but little known, short history. The colours of the water you see in photos is not photo-shopped and is truly wonderful.

Dear lisamA5532AR
Thank you so much for the 5 stars! It sounds like you enjoyed a brilliant experience travelling with SeaLink. One of our team recently visited Rotto and did exactly what you experienced, by hiring an electric bike to get around the island. They've commented how enjoyable the experience was as it enables you to explore the island so much more! Great to hear you loved the Quokkas too. We hope to see you onboard again soon!

Boarded the SeaLink at Perth and had a nice informative cruise on the Swan river on the way to Rottnest Island. The trip across to Rottnest was smooth on a gorgeous sunny day. The ocean was as smlooth as glass. On arrival at Rottnest, we were greeted by a welcoming party of locals quokkas. How cute. ASfter exploring the village and a walk to the lighthouse we had a nice lunch at the Dome restaurant. The menu was quite extensive and the food quite good. Our table overlooked the ocean. After lunch it was a bus tour around the island . Our driver was quite informative. So many beautiful coves and beaches around the island. The beaches looked very ionviting but 18C was still too cold for me to go in. We also saw a couple of nesting osprey eagles. We were also very fortunate to see some whales on their migration journey. After the bus tour it was time to board the ferry back to Perth. A great day was had byu my wife and I. If you like swimming and snorkeling, I recommend visiting the island on the warmer months.

Ferry ride down Swan River was great, very good commentary. Stopped briefly at Fremantle to pick up other passages then on to Rottnest Island. Took the bus tour around the island. Our driver and guide was full of knowledge and quirky tidbits about the island. I then walked around the settlement area, had lunch at Fransisco’s and photographed the Quokkas. Fun day

Loved the trip down the Swan river on Captain cook boat staff all friendly. We also thought the Bayseeker bus tour was great the lady bus driver was fun and informative. Thankful we didn't do any bike rides or hop on off bus it was enough to stay on bus to go all the way around. Also glad we decided to do our own thing for lunch. The hotel Rottness was amazing, great food and staff, delightful setting right on the beach. Would definitely recommend.

I went to see the quokka. When we were going around the island by bus, we only saw a glimpse of it from afar, but when I was resting near the dock, this one came out and asked for food. It wasn't scared of people at all. It made me worry if it was safe.

I enjoyed it.
Because it was summer, the sun set late and the time was later overall, but I was able to see a beautiful starry sky for the first time in a long time.
We were dropped off at a hotel (the Peninsula) that was not the meeting place. (midnight)
