Great tour! Worth it for a tourist. Partly rainy on our tour day but still got to see the pinnacles and enjoy the BBQ and see the supermoon/full moon that night. Our guides (Skip & Sam) were great spirits, very funny, enthusiastic and made a rainy day more fun than you would expect!

          Brilliant stargazing
The whole day was really good, from getting picked up, right through to being dropped off again. Gavin our driver and host was very friendly and knowledgeable. Lancelin sand dunes were amazing, I didn't sandboard but my son did and it looked fun. The stargazing at the Pinnacles was out of this world. Excuse the pun! I would highly recommend this trip.

A must do trip in Western Australia
I stayed in Perth for only three nights with my son who is nearly 16. Many options to choose for us but we finally decided to do the pinnacle stargazing trip. It’s really worthy. Gavin made our day full of knowledge and fun. We enjoyed the sand boarding, sunset and the beautiful Milky Way , even the nice dinner. I have already recommended this amazing trip to my friends.

Amazing trip to Pinnacles with Lumineer
The trip to see the Pinnacles at sunset, including dinner and a sandblasting diversion, was first rate. The drivers/were very knowledgeable and friendly and the Pinnacles themselves are breathtaking, especially as the sun goes down and the stars come out. Highly recommended.

A must if looking for a wine tour
What a great day that was had by all , Sharon our driver was really friendly , very knowledgeable and also had a great understanding of the region . Pick up was on time and I think that our day stretched longer than she anticipated, but there was no complaints from her. Selection of vineyards is dependent on where your picked up but there’s so many , plus all being boutiques quality is first class. Highly recommend this business, they have been operating for many years and are truly professionals

One of the best tours I’ve been on, a great look at Western Australia’s beauty and our great southern sky, made extra special by Gavin’s telescope to view Jupiter and our own personal binoculars to watch the sky. A great BBQ dinner with wine.. Thank you

          A night under the stars.
If you like benign outdoors, you will have a good time. A bit of an insight on how the aborigines used some of the local plants. I especial enjoyed the session on the night sky.

Gavan, is a great leader with lots of knowledge of the area, plants and the solar system. We were lucky enough to see clearly see the milky way, while laying on our backs in the desert, what a great experience.

          Spectacular Starlight
A wonderful tour to The Pinnacles Desert with stops at Lancelin sand dunes and Hangover Bay on the way. . The Pinnacles themselves are a fascinating sight and there was plenty of time to explore. After a BBQ dinner the main highlight - the starry night sky. Gavin was a great tour guide and pointed out lots of star features - enhanced by looking through the telescope. Highly recommend this tour

This was a super fun tour. Gavin was very knowledgeable and worked really hard to make our day amazing. It was one of the best tours I’ve ever been on and would 100% recommend this tour to people of all ages. We saw some magical places- the sand dunes were so fun and the Pinnacles were breath taking.

First, a few words about the tour itself...We were looking forward to this tour - especially the Pinnacles and the star gazing!
We knew the first few stops (chocolate factory, coffee roaster, honey shop, etc...) would not be exciting but were a nice way to break up a long drive. I was a bit apprehensive about the sand boarding bit (as I am not very graceful or athletic) but overall enjoyed that too.
When we got to the Pinnacles I was pleased about how close you can get to them (in fact, a bit too close I fear!) And the stars did not disappoint in the stargazing (do stars ever disappoint?)

        Now, about Mick...
Let's just say he's not a natural tour guide. Other than a couple minutes on how the Pinnacles were formed, he added no information to the tour (not that I need a constant monologue all day long, but it's nice to learn a bit about some of the things you are seeing.)
His manner can be gruff to the point of bordering on rudeness.
On the way to the Pinnacles he played decent middle of the road music at a reasonable volume (so I could talk to my partner and those around me.) On the way home he blasted harsh music so loud I couldn't take a nap (and I can sleep through anything!)
When we were doing the stargazing he explained to us how sensitive to light his eyes are. About 5-10 minutes after he told us this he spent 20 minutes running around with his mobile phone's torch on hi beam looking for snakes (nobody was interested in seeing snakes) - I had to keep my eyes closed in order to keep my eyes accustomed to the darkness. I can understand him wanting us to be mindful of his eyes, but he should extend the same courtesy to his clients.
And while none of us wanted to see snakes, the majority of the participants on the tour were visitors to Australia, so of course we all wanted to see kangaroos. I know that Mick can not control the kangaroos but on the 2 times that one was spotted he could have slowed down a bit instead yelling 'kangaroo to the right' and continuing on at full speed.
My final point is probably the one that concerns me the most: his driving. I can understand going at speed down the motorway, but he was also flying through the National Park. The road is very bumpy with a lot of sharp curves and corners. A 16 person van is not the most agile of vehicles for these roads. I was glad I was not riding behind the rear axle thats where the ride is the roughest and I would have ended up with an aching back.
My advice: do the tour but find a guide who is more customer oriented.

Hi David, thankyou for taking the time to do your review. It wasn't great to read for my wife & I, we pride ourselves on delivering a great customer experience & as much as possible we run most of the tours ourselves but we do have to use other drivers on occasions so that we can have a break. We have been working with Mick for a few months to get him to deliver an experience that is consistent with what we expect for the tour. Obviously we still have quite a bit of work to do with him. He does have a lot of good qualities but appreciate he may be an acquired taste for some. He has been described at times as a bit of a Mick Dundee character. we appreciate the time you have taken to do the review, it provides us with some useful coaching information for the driver & apologise again that it wasn't the experience you were hoping for on the day.

The Pinnacles Sunset Stargazing Tour was awesome.
Along the way there were stops for Chocolate Factory, Sandboarding but the Pinnacles was out of this world. You could imagine being on another planet.
Gavin our guide was fantastic good communication skills, we stargazed through bonocculars, telescopes to see the moon and stars, Gavin very knowledgable in this area. Provided in the tour was a BBQ and drinks.
Gavin was a solo act, setting up the BBQ, explaining the stars, driving, etc.
        Great Tour Gavin

There were many of us so two vehicles were used, ours was driven by Mick. It was a great trip, but there wasn't much explanation on the Pinnacles or the stars (the two focal points of the tour) by Mick, who seemed to be more interested in snakes than anything else. Having read from previous reviews how knowledgeable Gavin is - he was certainly impressive when we settled down for stargazing - I can't help but wish that he had led us from the beginning to the end.
It was stated in the itinerary on their website that the Swan Valley visits include Coward and Black Winery, Margaret River Chocolate Factory, Yahava Koffee Works and the House of Honey. We only did 2, the chocolate factory and coffee. I was looking forward to buying some honey but we headed for Lancelin after those 2 stops. I know these are not the focal points of the tour, but as tourists these stopovers are appreciated. If the management only intends to bring us to 2 of the 4, this should be stated clearly on the tour itinerary to avoid confusion and disappointment.

Lastly, I have no complaints about the simple yet tasty bbq dinner. The salads were delicious and the Swan Valley wines were good.

Would I recommend this tour to others? Yes, most definitely. Would I come back for another tour? Perhaps, if I can be assured that Gavin will be our driver guide (not quite possible, right?)

Hi, thankyou for taking the time do your review. We are aware Mick needs more training in some areas, he does have a good knowledge of wild life but the stars are a work in progress. Just re the winery it was at the same venue as the chocolate factory, it was the building right next to it, perhaps Mic didn't explain this. We had to skip the honey place on the day as there were a few delays in pickups at the start of the tour & getting to the Pinnacles for sunset is a top priority. Like most tourism businesses, we will now be closed for at least the next 6 months, probably 12. We are using this time to give Mick some more training as well as train a few other drivers. We have also invested heavily in some new technology for the telescopes which will significantly enhance the night sky viewing experience. Thankyou again for taking the time to do your review, they do provide us with valuable insight in to what is working & what isn't. Hope you are staying safe & that life returns to normal sooner rather than later.

I highly recommend that experience in Perth. This experience is unique and very well organized. It is approximately 12hrs tour with a pick-up from your location and stops along the way to the Pinnacles desert. The way to the desert takes about 3hrs, the drive starts with an incredible ocean view that lasts for a while, than there would be a stop at the cafe followed with sand dunes sandboarding experience, which was super fun, and if you prefer you may opt for a walk along the ocean or a bar. Afterwards you will be taken to the desert, with a stop right in front of it for native plants tour (you might be able to try some). We have also seen a couple of kangaroos and their sleeping shelters, rabbits. Then at the desert you have some free time to explore the pinnacles and take photos, the team provides you with a barbeque dinner right before it gets dark and set ups the telescopes to view planets and stars. I was able to see the Moon very clearly and even got its picture in the format I have only seen on the Internet before. We have also seen Saturn and Jupiter in the scope and observed lots of constellations, the tour guide explained many of them to us. Everything on the tour is accompanied with the guide tour comments about local aboriginal people traditions and beliefs, the Universe and Perth in general. The team is very caring, provides blankets because it gets freezing at night in the desert and organizes everything so smoothy, so there is no wait time. The drive was also very comfy. I also happened to meet lots of people from a cruise, mainly from the U.S., as well as people from all over the world, and the experience became even more unique, all kudos to them! If you travel alone or with friends, this trip will leave you with unforgettable memories and feelings, it was so light under the moon light, we didn’t even need a flashlight, and seeing all those stars that cover the sky in a dome-like shape, simply speechless! I booked that tour because someone in the comments commented out that if you are limited of time and wondering which tour to join, you should definitely try that one, and I want to say the same! Depending on the time of the year, you may also observe the iconic Milky Way!

Joined this tour recently & it was badly organised. Arrived at the pre-agreed meet up point & was only informed via email at the last minute on delay of 40 mins or alternatively to meet them at another place. What if we do not have access to email? They should have called instead of communicating via email especially on last minute changes. At the star gazing site, no clear instructions on the time & venue where for the dinner. When dinner ended, the organisers just packed & left the site to another venue without informing. We have to guess what had happened. In the end, we went on our own to a quiet venue to watch the beautiful stars. Is a waste of money & time to book this tour.

Hi there, I'm not sure you have the right tour. We haven't been 40 minutes late for any tours and we don't contact anyone via email last minute on tour as we don't have access to email when we are on the road, we only make contact via phone during the day to people who are on the tour if there is a delay. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but it doesn't sound like you have the right tour.

Pinnacles National Park Desert is part of Nambung National Park is in the southwestern part of Australia. There are thousands of the limestone structures called pinnacles which are believed to have been formed over 25,000 years ago. The structures vary in size, shape, and dimension. Some are as high as 11.5 feet. This area is also known for its dark skies, ideal for stargazing.

Prior to arriving at Pinnacles Desert, we stopped at Lancelin Sand Dunes for those who wished to could sand board. Then we drove along the Turquoise Coast and stopped at Hangover Bay we took a guided walk to see native plants that are used by the Aborigines for food and medicine.

Next was a sunset dinner and stargazing. Using a special computerized telescope, we saw the moon in detail. By attaching our cell phone to the telescope’s adapter, photos could be taken of the moon. and take photos of the moon. As we watched the sun set over the Indian Oceans, our tour guides (3 vans) prepared a delicious barbeque. Our tour guide also talked about the indigenous culture and its use of astronomy. Finally, a Sound Healing Session was held using a didgeridoo and crystal sound healing bowl.

Seeing the milky way without light pollution, plus close ups of the visible planets through a telecope, was incredible. Away from a city you can see so much more.
Gavin's commentary on a range of topics on the way out to the pinnacles was interesting and insightful too.
The pinnacles is a unique landscape as well, being there as the sun set made for great landscapes.

Happy to be picked up from our hotel in a mini bus, then we sat back and enjoyed the sights of Swan Valley, had a couple of stops at a chocolate place then a coffee place. Next stop was the Lancelin sand dunes where we had the most amazing experience of sand surfing, on to a beach to dip your toes in the water, plenty of rest stops along the way. The final destination of the Pinnacles desert/ national park was absolutely beautiful, we arrived as the sun was setting and it was so beautiful to wander the sand dunes as the sun set. A BBQ dinner with salad was laid to enjoy. Then out came the telescope for a view of the night sky, binoculars were also handed out to personally view the night sky. An absolutely amazing experience, a long day but well worth it. Thank you to our wonderful host for a great day out.

Hi there, thankyou for your review & we're glad you enjoyed the day. We are using this down time to work on some new technology to enhance the viewing experience of the nights sky.

The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Gavin was out driver and guide and he was a wealth of knowledge. The trip was very well organised and everything went like clockwork which made the experience that much better. The 2 telescopes for the star gazing were brilliant and I would recommend this trip to anyone. The pinnacles are an amazing thing in themselves.

A must do trip. Gavin, the host is very good and the pinnacles in the desert are fascinating and the sky at night is a real wow factor.

A few salads and barbecue sausages is the meal andand they are very good and you get the chance to see Small towns like Lancelin and do dune bashing.

This is a must do if you visit Perth. A slight word of warning tho ……. It is a long day, the seatbelts are designed for 8 yr olds and the bus is relatively cramped
