We live in Perth and never been to Bickley valley and they have many hidden treasures. 5 stops and awesome lunch. Each place was explained by passionate makers. Great tour guide see. The food was excellent and covered all types of American BBQ food. The tour was very inclusive and input from the owners of each venue made the tour very personal. Shannon, our guide, was an absolute gem - friendly, knowledgeable, and made everyone feel welcome. She happily answered all our questions and kept the mood light and fun throughout. We visited 4 fantastic vineyards, and the wines were so good that I couldn't resist buying a fortified wine bottle (I wasn't planning to, but no regrets!). Despite the hot summer weather, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The modern, air-conditioned van was a comfortable retreat between stops, with storage space in the back to store our wine purchases. Really appreciated the small group size - we never felt rushed and could take our time at each stop. The whole experience was well-organized and relaxed. Thanks to Shannon's excellent guidance and the perfect itinerary, this tour is definitely worth recommending to anyone looking to explore Swan Valley's wine scene!Written 30 January 2025

- 275sarahv0 contributionsEnjoyable Day OutAs we had never been to the Bickley area, it was nice to see all the places. Pickup up was easy from the Casino. Mini van was comfortable & airconditioned. Bottle of water supplied. All the owners were knowledgeable on their products & it was interesting to hear how things get produced/made. Lunch was very tasty, & menu had a variety of meals to choose from. It is a full day out but, went quite fast. Had a great time. If I had to say one thing that I would have maybe liked-just a small snack at the final place would have been nice with the cider tasting. We will definitely be going back to a couple of the places we stopped at. Would highly recommend for a relaxing day out exploring Bickley Winery region.Written 12 January 2025

One of the best wine tours we have been on and we have been on a few. From booking to being picked up from hotel was stream-less. The premium full day wine tour started at Mandoom where we enjoyed wine and food pairing, featuring 5 canapés with matching wines. Next stop was Upper Reach which their verdelho was excellent. We also had a relaxing scrumptious lunch on the deck overlooking the vineyard. Lunch is not included in the price but the restaurant was very reasonable priced for the some of the best local foods. Next stop was Olive Farm. Tasting from a State of the Art wine delivery system from a choice of over 32 different wines. Last stop was Talijancich Wines that produced wine and fortified wines. Yes we purchased at each winery as the wines are excellent. Yes, we are very selected so the wine was to our tasting. Limited to only 6 people you get a higher quality experience not like to big bus. Shannon our guide/driver was also the owner and was very knowledgeable and friendly.

I contacted Up Close and Local to arrange a private day tour of wineries in the Swan Valley for myself, my husband and my 89yr old father-in-law. Having made enquiries with several companies, the prompt and friendly response from Up Close gave me a good feeling about the company and we soon agreed a tailored itinerary over email. Shannon picked us up from our air bnb in the Upper Valley and we had a wonderful day, she shared with us some of the history of the area without over loading us with info. We went to some delightful small local producers who were obviously passionate about their craft and guided us through multiple tastings. Shannon’s relationship with the staff at the wineries made the whole thing really friendly, informal and personal, going midweek meant that we got one on one service! We were never rushed and Shannon was happy to flex the itinerary when dad started to run out of steam. I cannot recommend Up Close and Local highly enough we will definitely use them again.

We had an enjoyable day out to Swan Valley, an unexpected surprise since we originally wanted to go out to Margaret River. On hindsight, it was much more time efficient for a day trip out of Perth city and we also get to visit beautiful wineries and learnt about the Swan valley produces which is less known to us. We also had delicious lunch at Sittella beautiful courtyard overlooking the vines.
Shannon was our guide for that day, she had been very professional and helpful through our email exchanges so was great to have her bringing us around. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate.
Highly recommend anyone to book a private tour with them - it will be an experience you will not forget!

From our prompt morning pick up from our CBD hotel in an immaculate and spacious people mover van to our afternoon drop off, the day was flawless.
Paul was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide willing to share his knowledge but also asked questions of us to gain a further understanding of what it was we were hoping to achieve out of the day.
Shannon also was fantastic. From communicating with us from the get go, checking via text and email that we were receiving her correspondence. She was thorough, left nothing to chance and did her best to ensure they put together a tour we would enjoy.
Lunch at Upper Ridge was exceptional! Fantastic food at a very reasonable price. We could only manage 2 of the 3 course special on offer the day we toured (Thursday).
We got exactly what we were hoping to in that we visited a nice cross section of wineries in terms of scale, product offerings and style. Overall, a great day out with a friendly and discreet host.

She was also kind enough to send us a very detailed text that night to recommend restaurants, coffee shops and bars that we had asked about during the day. Nothing was too much trouble. We never felt rushed. She said several times that as long as we got to the last vineyard before they closed everything was alright.

I spent an enjoyable day with Our host Paul visiting four diverse wineries in the Swan Vally.Paul proved to be an excellent operator wth his wine knowledge of the Swan Valley and what each vineyard could offer. An excellent lunch is provided with the tour. The vineyards visited varied from small family businesses to a large corporate winery.i highly recommend this tour

We were a group of 6 and did an all day tour with Shannon. We were picked up and dropped off to our accommodation which was very convenient for us! The tour van is very spacious, comfy seats and great air conditioning. We had a lovely day visiting 4 beautiful wineries in the Swan Valley. Shannon is very knowledgeable, attentive, friendly and easy going. Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed the tour and were very appreciative of Shannon's wine experience and knowledge. We had a great time and would highly recommend Up Close and Local Tours over other tour operators!

We enjoy our wine & wanted a tour that concentrated on the wineries rather chocolate or cheese-makers. Shannon is an expert guide & provided us with an excellent itinerary starting with fantastic wine/canopy pairing, a delicious lunch at the second winery, & two other wineries all showcasing the wonderful wines in the Swan Valley. The wineries were all smaller, family run, & very welcoming, giving us a chance to sample the huge range of different wines produced in this area. We will definitely use Up Close & Local for our next trip to the Margaret River wineries.

Although the region does offer more than just wine, this tour was created for the exact reason you described - as wine lovers ourselves who enjoy tasting and learning about different wines, we saw there was a gap for a true wine tour experience. I cannot say enough about how fantastic this tour was. If you are traveling alone, single, or just wanting a getaway but are nervous about being the "odd person out"- I can assure you that will NOT be the case with this tour. Shannon answered all of my inquiries before my tour (and believe me I had a few). The vehicle arrived promptly at my hotel. She was kinder and more personable than I could have imagined. The tour was incredible. I learned so much about the region and the wines and the history. We had the most incredible customized experience through Swan Valley. The food, oh I cannot tell you how delicious the food was. I recommend Up Close & Local Tours 1,000% and am so appreciative of the amazing experience.

This is a great option for those with a diverse knowledge of wine and enjoy the atmosphere of a smaller group tour rather than going on a larger tour. The tour guide Shannon had a deep knowledge of wine and the various wineries. The tour was slow paced and you never felt rushed.
