Great day … don’t eat breakfast beforehand
Great day. Mixture of boat and bus depending on the tides. Food and wines galore. The commentary going there was mixed. Lots of people talking while the captain was talking. Maybe give an option for those who want to listen….give headsets to listen and to also drown out the idle chatter. Choice of wineries were nice but I didn’t find a wine I could rave about. Meet some lovely people. The staff singing on the way back was not my cup of tea. Good day though. More positives than negatives.

      Dinner river cruise
Plenty of variety of food to choose from. The entertainer had a beautiful voice and sang easy listening songs. The crew were friendly and the boat trip was pleasant.

      Cancelled twice!
We went to Perth for a two-week holiday in June and booked this cruise several weeks ahead of our departure. While we were in Perth, the company rang to advise that the date we had booked had been cancelled, so we changed to the following day. Then they rang to advise that this cruise had also been cancelled, so we claimed a refund. This was very disappointing because we only had limited options and it was something we were looking forward to as part of our Perth visit. So, I have no idea what the cruise was like! And pretty poor that such a renowned cruise company can't manage their bookings.

      Fun and enjoyable day out!
We had a great day tasting wine, enjoying a tasty lunch and cheese platter and trying chocolates before cruising back to Perth. A couple of the staff sung on the cruise back which was a real highlight.

Being a tourist in my own city
My Melbourne visitor and I really enjoyed it. Plenty of sitting room, great view of the sights and Captain’s commentary was enough information. Will do it again.

Sad ending to what should have been a good day
The coach part of the tour was excellent and well run. Sadly we chose to return via boat. We waited 20 mins for a second coach to arrive which shortened the time of the cruise. Some of the people from the second coach had drank far too much and were and rude. My wife verbally threatened and swore at. The boat then had to return to the docks early. The crew did very little to calm things down other than to keep serving drinks

A fun outing even for a solo
WOW what a fantastic afternoon the driver of the bus was just a drive no commentary at all . But after two lovely winery you get on the boat and then the fun starts the staff really make it special I danced sang and had a wonderful time I met the most delightful people who I am sure we will be friends from Ireland to near Adelaide as a solo traveler I would highly recommend this trip , But the highlight was one of the staff who sang some great songs and made the boat rock thank you one and all for a wonderful trip Madeline

      Leisurely river cruise
Perth to Fremantle and return lunch river cruise. We booked the day prior at their office on the jetty (which is more expensive than booking online a lot earlier). Very friendly and helpful assistant. The MV James Stirling boat had 2 levels and was clean. The cruise ran on time. Our tickets included reserved seating and a buffet lunch on the lower level. Nice lunch with plenty of fresh food. Good commentary. Staff were organised and on top of their game. Based on our experience, we would recommend this cruise.

Natural beauty, great food, friendly staff
Blown away by; the beauty of the river, the generosity of food and drinks and the friendliness of the staff, this all created an amazing atmosphere amongst everyone on board. If you want to see Perths natural beauty I would recommend this day trip. Funny thing is that we are locals from Fremantle and totally loved the trip. 10 out of 10 from us.

Nice way to spend an evening
Excellent food and service. Nice music and very relaxed evening. Only negative is the dining area at the rear next to the bar is quite noisy from the engines and too far away from the entertainment to hear.

      Great day.
Lovely day out. Only niggle was difficulty getting along bench seat at table, on boat. Hard to get out if beside the window. would rather have spent longer at the chocolate factory than going to the second wine tasting. The entertainment, on the way back to Perth, was amazing. 3 beautiful singers. Great talent.

      Fab day out!
Wine tasting was very enjoyable as was the chocolate factory. Lunch at Mandoon was excellent. The return cruise was fab with complimentary wines and coffee/tea and cakes. Crew member sang for part of return journey which was excellent. Highly recommend this excursion.

      Wonderful time together!
Special family day Review of Fremantle Lunch Cruise Pending review We had a wonderful day as a catch-up with sibling family, some who had travelled from interstate for celebration of a milestone birthday. The crew were fantastic, friendly & helpful. The weather was superb, so the river was stunning! The buffet lunch covered a range of tastes. It was great having cold & hot options as well as a variety of salads. The variety was such that a separate vegetarian meal was not necessary. Captains commentary was interesting, views along the river awesome. Love that the crew acknowledged birthdays & sang happy birthday as well as taking photos for us and other groups.. Absolutely recommend this cruise.

We took this tour from Elizabeth Quay in Perth across to Fremantle. It was so well run. Nice and smooth with a very I’m
Formative Captain. The sights were magical. We hopped off and did a prison tour. Wow, this was fantastic too.
We then joined the hop on hop off tram. The driver Garry was just wonderful And full of information and a great sense of humour.
We went onto the Maritime Museum then back on the captain cook cruise back home. Enjoyed wine tasting and a beer while looking at the gorgeous scenery again.
    This is a great tour

I have done this cruise a couple of times previously & it is a very relaxing experience. It’s beautiful along the river front & the commentary is really interesting. When I collected my pre paid ticket from Captain Cook at Elizabeth Quay Perth the woman explained that there’s two tickets. ‘One is for embarking here & the other is for the return trip from Fremantle but you’ll be staying on the boat.’ I was confused about whether I could get off the boat at Fremantle or not as I’d understood at the time of purchasing the ticket online I would have a choice but after she said that I felt I had no choice but to stay on it. Luckily I’d brought my lunch as you can’t buy a meal on the boat. At Fremantle the captain announced ‘…some people may be getting off here & if you do be back at a certain time.’ I noted there was no recycling bin in the stern outside area. Overall a good experience but the options for disembarking at Fremantle could have been better explained.

Hi Mooondance, Thank you for your thoughtful review of our Perth to Fremantle cruise! We so appreciate you kind words and tips. We apologies for the confusion surrounding the Fremantle boarding and disembarking procedures, it can be quite confusing. We will endeavor to have some training done on the products so that this does not happen again. We look forward to having you travel with us again soon! Kind Regards Ella from Captain Cook Cruises WA

We couldn't hear anything from the sound system so there was essentially no guided commentary. The boat's layout is rigged for dining -- passengers have to sit at tables of 6, and there are 3 tables per row. We were okay since we sat at one of the tables to the side of the ship. Those in the middle tables can't see any of the views.

Thanks for sharing feedback from your recent cruise with us. Our vessel is designed for both dining as well as sightseeing, and customers are more than welcome to wander upstairs as well as outside for different views of the river. We are very sorry for the commentary. Please be assured that we will follow this up with our crew to make sure that the sound system is working as it should be. Kind regards, Kat from Captain Cook Cruises

Absolutely loved it. Got to the dock early so where first on board, which was great because we got the best seats at the back of the boat. We then spent the next few hours slowly meanterding down the Swan river to Freemantle and back again. The captain was really interesting as he talked away about what we were seeing. I would highly recommend a visitor to Perth do this trip.

We were so happy to get on this cruise as the previous week service had been cancelled due to bad weather. The commentary was good.( except for the noisy teenagers which can’t be helped!) it’s a pity it doesn’t run every day! Sad to say we didn’t see any Swans on the Swan river 🥲

We did the return cruise to Fremantle and back. An excellent way to appreciate the Swan River scenery with good commentary on the way. The return journey was just a repeat of the cruise down so I would suggest do the one way cruise to Fremantle, hop off and look around Fremantle, and get the train back to Perth

The launch was incredible, we could live on it. Punctual and clean, thank you. Human nature and a lack of manners had it so that there was a scramble to find a suitable seat, solution??? First in best dressed it seemed. Booking seats could be a good idea. Clarity when booking would have been helpful, I was unsure of return trip, booked full ticket and wondered if we'd be on the train back to Perth. Also unaware of dinner option when booking.
Chaos when returning to Perth, again not knowing where to be, lack of signage -could be resolved by lining up at Fremantle end, with seating, in the shade, share costs with other ferries, etc.
Loved the ride on the river, couldn't hear the descriptions, but it didn't matter, too noisy with children and action about. The return journey at 3.45pm was delightful. Very courteous crew. Thank you.

Hello, Thank you so much for your feedback - great to hear that overall you enjoyed the experience. The Swan River is certainly a beautiful river, and our Crew always do their best! We are sorry for the sound system - this is something that we are currently working on and we hope to have this up and working consistently as soon as possible. Yes, it has certainly been very busy on our cruises too - busier than normal - and this we are also looking at improving our signage and facilities, particularly at the departure point in Fremantle. Thank you again for your comments - we take it all seriously and as an opportunity to improve!

Perfect day to take the cruise from Elizabeth Quay to the Fremantle Port and return! We enjoyed the commentary, views of beautiful calm beaches, homes, Perth Skyline and the enormous cargo ships in Fremantle being unloaded and being pushed about by 3 tug boats.

The staff were professional and the ‘James Stirling’ is modern and well set out. Lunch was also available, or beverages were also sold at the bar.

Definitely recommend to see what us on offer in Perth and surrounding suburbs.

We did a River and wine cruise during a wet Perth day. The river was full after 3 days of rain and challenging for the Captain to navigate. Commentary was interesting and very local (thank you Soren!) and all other staff great (thank you Mitch, Loren and McKenzie). We were wine tasting slightly after 10 a,m ( its midday somewhere) with a generous cheese board. We cruised to Sandalford wines where getting off the boat was challenged by the river but handled well by staff. The tour of Sandalford was excellent as was the provided lunch.
