- 107amandae0 contributionsInformative, great overview of the Island: beware of the stairsWe opted to book the Grand Island Tour which is operated by Australian Pinnacle Tours, the cost of the tour was $99 per adult. This cost is for the Island Tour; the cost of ferry transfer to/from Rottnest Island is additional. After arriving at the Island and disembarking from the ferry it is about a 5-10 minute walk, depending on how quickly you walk, to the train station for the first leg of the tour. The first leg involves a train ride to Oliver's Hill. Unfortunately on the day of our tour the train was out of service due to mechanical issues. In lieu of the train, transport to Oliver's Hill was provided by coach. Whilst less atmospheric than the train, it served the purpose (the day was lovely and sunny and wind-free; on a windy day, the coach would provide more protection from the elements). At Oliver's Hill is an old armament, including a tunnel. Volunteer guides take people on a tour, this is in two parts. One part involves descending to the tunnel, there are multiple steps and it can be quite steep. For those who feel uncomfortable with the steps, it is possible to wait and sit out this part of the tour. The second part of the tour does not involve steps, so is fine. Lunch was served at Oliver's Hill. This included three options, chicken wrap, falafel wrap or salad (the gluten-free option). The wraps whilst fairly basic were fresh and tasty, multiple group members were heard complimenting the quality. Bottles of drinking water were provided. The weather was well-suited to a picnic lunch - there are picnic tables. However, the exposed site means that it could be windy, so would recommend bringing jackets and sunscreen. Following the picnic lunch there is a tour that pretty much covers the circumference of the Island. Our coach driver was passionate about Rottnest and has been visiting for many years. He provided fabulous insights into the history of the Island and his own experiences. Various stops are made to take photographs, etc. The tour concludes about 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal for those who are catching ferries back to Perth/Fremantle. This tour is recommended both as a way of providing an overview of the Island and for those who may not want to cycle around. The Grand Tour also means that there is no need to wait for the next hop-on/hop-off bus.Written 3 September 2024

From the minute I booked the follow up emails and text confirmations it was very well organised . Our driver Luke was an absolute delight . Mr entertainment not too much but the perfect commentary . Such a knowledgeable and amusing driver . Managed to wrangle an entire bus load of people on time to each destination . Throughly enjoyed the lunch at the wildflower cafe and the limited time looking at the wildlife park . Would highly recommend this trip to any visitor new to Western Australia . 5 gold stars !!! - stevestoneNorwich0 contributionsNo, no, don't go. Save your time, money and sanity...If you like sitting on a coach for over 10 hours hearing an (almost constant) running commentary on the size of the population now/from way back when, how much properties are worth and what delights we might find at the next (all too brief) stop, then this is the trip for you. The weather was inclement, however we stopped at Bussleton Quay and were told explicitly not to walk the jetty as it would take too long. As there was otherwise sod all to do there we opted for a cup of tea overlooking the water. We just had time to down the tea before being required to be beck on the bus. The next stop was for the cheeky monkey brewery and cellar door. We had some wine tasting - 4 tasters of a range of about 12 - which was absolutely fine. We were then herded in to the dining area for our lunch, which was efficiently presented and did the job. Included were some shared pitchers of local beer. However once more there was inadequate time to savour, or to really engage with your fellow Nomads. Back on the bus. A whole hour had elapsed! Then onwards to the Great Mammoth caves. Here, we were advised, it was a stop of 40 minutes. The group consisted of 18 people - hardly unmanageable - yet the tour was very brief, if conducted by a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, who seemed to be equally perplexed that she could not show us more of the cave system. She explained that she would normal allow 45 to 60 minutes for this guided tour. Back on the bus. Another long ride to the Leeuwin Lighthouse. This windswept and dramatic setting was punctuated by the imposing Lighthouse. Again, we were advised, that we did not have time to visit the lighthouse, be back on the bus in half an hour - just long enough for a cup of tea in the café (order, get drinks, take to table, consume, chat briefly and maybe visit the loo). Back on the bus. We were told that the final stop before our return journey was Margaret River. I somewhat expected a boat trip! However the driver advised us that the town of Margaret River was not a typical rural town, just wait and see! Expecting maybe to see a Dallas skyline, or something. I know I am a foreigner, but there seemed nothing remarkable about Margaret River - which did have a slightly swollen stream - apart from the fact that most of the town seemed closed. The driver said we might want to get a snack and/or drink - he would even allow us to take these on to the bus. We wandered around, bumping in to our fellow travellers - equally bemused as to why the heck we had stopped here, when we could have got back to Perth half an hour earlier. We did discover that some shop closures were due to a well loved traders funeral - respect for this but why not just shut the whole town down and put in a bus diversion for the day! After aimlessly wandering around, after 30m minutes it was back on the bus. Finally there was a further very brief comfort break of about 20 minutes between Margaret River and the tortuous journey back to Perth, some three hours later. So we had spent over thirteen hours on a bus and been out of the bus for almost exactly 3 hours and 30 minutes - the driver was adhering to his own very strict timetable. I could not recommend this trip - run by Pinnacle Tours - to you unless you are absolutely infirm and live your life in anticipation of the the delights of a long, featureless regimented bus journey. Improve it?: 1 do not include the lighthouse 2 do not include Margaret River Spend more time at the lunch, wine tasting (exposition of this) the brewing and wine production there. Spend more time at the cave. Our trip was included as part of our package, so we do not know the cost to us, but if it is near that quoted on the web sites, save your money, go down the pub and have a nice meal instead.Written 11 August 2024

- 322kelg0 contributionsRottnest Tour LacklusterThe Tour advert said nothing about you needing to get to Rottnest by ferry. We assumed the train took us and the bus took us around. So $253 extra added to the tour cost was a surprise. When we arrived at Rottnest we caught the train. What a dissappointment. The area along the trsck was filled with did used railway sleepers and othe junk. There was literally nothing nice to see. Ok, the whine continues. We were looking forward to the gun facility. Yes the advert for the tour mentions 60 steps, not nine stories worth of steps. There was nothing in the tour advert to say that most of the gun explore was three meters underground and possibly not suitable for people, like my wife, who suffer from Claustrophobia. We missed the major part of the gun explore, which annoyed us both. Lunch waslovely, as was the gunvtour guide, Cate and the bus driver Peter... both very knowledgable. The bus part of the tour did let us see a few really nice things, however, there was almost a zero opportunity to take photos as the bus just kept pushing on, albeit at 5kph. Yes, we saw Crokka's, but for less than 10 minutes as we had a ferry to catch. Saddly, we both felt the Rottnest was a waste of time and money. Nothing on the island, beaches, bush etc jumped out at us... we could have stayed home and seen significantly lovelier scenery. We really went to see Crokka's, but becausecthe bus tour ate into our time on the island we saw bugger all of what we paid to see. If I had my time again, I would not have booked RottnessWritten 25 July 2024
- se_no8430 contributionsThank you FrankAlthough we didn’t get the weather to see the stars, I really enjoyed this tour and getting to see the pinnacles in person and the kangaroos at Yanchep National Pork. I had to write a review on how great the tour guide Frank was. He was friendly, charismatic and full of interesting anecdotes and facts on the history and geography of Western Australia. His enthusiasm hooked us all in. He went above and beyond to make the tour as informative and worthwhile as possible. Don’t make the mistake we did by not carrying cash, because you are going to want to tip him. If you are reading this thank you again Frank.Written 22 July 2024

The stars - wow ! From this experience one becomes aware of how light pollution has spoilt the view of the night sky. Pick up from.Elizabeth Quay, its a long coach ride, but we had been advised not to drive ourselves because of the kangaroo! Yanchrp Nat Park was a lovely stop, Koala and Roos. Pinnacles not as tall as I thought, but very interesting although some idiots thought theyd be clever and climb them. The sky was as clear as could be. It was very very cold 11th Nov '22. Dinner at the Cervantes Bar & Bistro was excellent, we thought, with a coach full food wouldn't be much & probably lukewarm - how wrong we were. Fish n chips perfectly cooked, light & crispy battery. Our driver and guide were very knowledgeable & kept us amused. Not a cheap trip, but we enjoyed the experience. Also, this company were very helpful on drop off points, making sure there was a taxi close by when we got off the coach.

We did two tours with Australian Pinnacles Tours. This one and Wave rock. I’m glad we did both but if time/money was a factor I’d do this one. It gave a great overall experience. We got to go to a very nice wildlife park and saw the typical Australian animals. We did sandboarding and the desert was amazing. The bus was comfortable and tour operators were very organised. Shout out to Rob who organised the sand boarding. You could tell he loved his job and conveyed his passion to us. The Pinnacles Desert is a unique place and highly recommend visiting when in WA. The lunch provided was good. The only negative was the lobster tour. It wasn’t very interesting and wished we would have been given time to wander in Cervantes rather than doing that tour.

"We had an incredible time on our Pinnacles tour in Perth! Nick, our driver and tour guide, truly made the experience unforgettable. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and friendly nature added so much value to the trip. The Sandboarding & 4WD itenaries were enjoyably awesome. The Pinnacles were absolutely breathtaking, and Nick ensured we had ample time to explore and capture beautiful moments. He had also ensured that our lunch was delivered fast when there was a mixed up to one of our order. Kudos to him for doing the chased up and keeping us informed, which had prevented delay to the group’s next tour😃
We are grateful for his excellent service and the amazing experience he provided. Thank you, Nick, for making our tour truly memorable!" 👏👏👏

I regret to rate this experience with only 3 stars due to a significant letdown; our time at the Pinnacles was a mere 30 minutes due to schedule delays. The rest of the tour, including Caversham Wildlife Park and the exhilarating sandboarding, was enjoyable, and the lobster shack served a delightful lunch. However, the brief stop at the Pinnacles meant we had scarcely enough time to disembark and snap a quick photo of the nearest formations. It’s unclear if this rush was to manage the various tour groups efficiently, but the limited time to appreciate the stunning geological wonders was truly disappointing.

Thank you for taking the time to review our tour, and it is great to hear that you enjoyed your day with us at Lancelin, and your tour of Caversham Wildlife Park. We are sorry though to hear that your time at the Pinnacles Desert was limited on this day. The timings for our tours are unfortunately strict by necessity, as we cover a lot of the region on our day tours, and on this occasion some unforeseeable delays reduced the time we had available for the Pinnacles desert group.
We can understand that this would have limited your time to enjoy this spectacular location, and do apologize for any inconvenience caused. We will look to review these timings and work to improve this for our future tour departures.
Thank you again for taking the time to review our service, and we hope to welcome you onboard a tour with us again soon.

We did 2 tours with Adams during our stay in Perth.
First tour wildlife Park, 4wd & pinnacles. We found traveling in the 4wd truck for the full day uncomfortable considering we only spent 10 minutes 4wd on the sandhills. Loved the wildlife park & the pinnacles. Only letdown was the tour at the Rock lobster plant was a waste of time as they weren't processing, time would have been spent better just having lunch as by this time it was 2.30pm & we had been on the road since 7.30am. Also we weren't given the option of upgrading our lunch where other travelers were on booking.
Second tour Busselton & Margaret River. A very long but enjoyable day. The tour was 14 hours & we traveled 740km.
Very comfortable bus & great driver. Great lunch stop & we have seen a great variety of things available in the area. Disappointed that Margaret River Township is at 4.45pm when all the shops are closing. It was mentioned that there would be a break at a Roadhouse on the way back but the only food available was KFC & very slow service. This should be mentioned about the stop so travellers could get something in Coles before leaving Margaret River.

My family of 4 adults will arrive in Perth on 20 June 2024. We would like to do a Pinnacles Desert tour. The stargazing tour seems popular. But will it be too cold for late June, especially for people from the topics? Will a day tour of the dessert be a better choice?

Is this trip is one day trip? Can we get to see the sunset and the stars on the sky at night?

Yes, a day trip. Depending on which package you get, it may be about 10-12 hours. I guess it depends on the season you go, you may catch the sunset. We did when we went in June. But no, you won’t stay long enough to catch the stars. Hope this helps. Enjoy yourself!

Is it possible to upgrade to lobster on-site? Or do I have to decide upfront at point of booking tickets?
