About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 611kaiyaw0 contributionsTerrible People SkillsUnfortunately it was very unorganised and resulted in Alison making quite loud comments about people's weight when assigning seats. Seemed redundant to make assumptions about weight when we were asked to provide it during the time of booking, and reminded about the weight limit when signing the waiver. I would recommend being more tactful when having to reorganise seating and continuing to place people based on your assumptions instead of then asking a group who we thought was the heaviest.Written 10 October 2024
- B6955JBannec0 contributionsAn excellent classic cable beach experienceFrom registration, to safety briefing to mounting the camels and moving off onto the beach, the tour was excellent. Alison and her staff are very invested in their customers and the camels. We're an older couple and thought the ride was excellentWritten 5 October 2024

- 783tyed0 contributionsDon't bookWe had booked this tour 1 month in advance for our last night in Broome. This tour operator called us 1 hour before the tour to inform us that they needed to cancel due to their insurance not going through. Ontop of this they would not assist with the refunding our the tour. Very poorly managed and a disappointmentWritten 19 September 2024

- Luckeysign0 contributionsSunset was awesomeThe owner of the company was “over it’ overdon, sloppy unwelcoming , you can see they cared for the camels 🐪 but you can tell she has done the hard yards & is just done she needs a break. Time away, holiday. Camels were well looked after, looked healthy, and well managed, the young interns, just need to give more information on the camels 🐪 and how they came to be in OZ & how they live here & why. The young ones were great, helpful, intelligence, interactive, willing, wield eyes looking to the future, as they should, the owner was tired, not willing to tell the camels story, or any information on how or why they came to this country 🤷🏽♀️she seemed ‘over it’ . All the young(er) workers we met so full of life & ready, willing to experience life, what’s comes next, it was an amazing experience & loved the view! The sunset camel ride was amazing, do it. It is uncomfortable, hot, smelly But talk to the interns they are great full of information about there experiences of the area, listen to them , they have something say, listen 👂 take it all in.Written 12 September 2024

- waynec1710 contributionsIconic Broome ExperienceBroome Camel Safaris did a great job. The Tour was well organised, with the camel guides all very accomodating for pictures etc. Also, as someone who isn't a fan of animal rides for welfare reasons, I was very impressed with the care and origin of the camels. Overall, recommended!Written 8 September 2024
- Robyn N0 contributionsCamel rideI finally had my camel ride. The mounting was not rushed. I was very lucky to ride on my own thus being able to caress a young camel along the way. The guides were informative along the way. It was a calming experience as we traversed the Broome beach.Thank you for the pearl earrings I wore them every day on our holidays.Written 5 September 2024

June 2022 • Couples
Sundowner Camel Tours - our reservation was made in March for June, to be sent an email informing that this will not be running due to no staff / COVID -two days prior. This is VERY disappointing, considering, after discussing with two other camel ride operators on the same beach saying this tour operator had not been reliable since December. It is difficult to get a booking elsewhere at such short notice being popular at this time of year.

This is a must do experience when in Broome! It’s an awesome way to see the sunset and have some fun. I would highly recommend Broome camel safari over the other companies only due to the fact that we had 2 safari guides runnings around and getting photos with everyone’s phones for each camel/couple. They new the best shots and they turned out awesome. The guides gave some cool camel facts and it showed that they actually care for the animals. At the end of the tour you got to feed your camel a carrot each aswell which was super cool

This was by far the highlight of my trip to Broome! It was so so relaxing and peaceful. Absolutely loved it. Got to feed our camels carrots in the end as a way of saying thank you, which was a lovely gesture by the team! Alison and her team were amazing and took lots of photos of each of us -they captured the moments so so well! Picture perfect photos! You could also see how much they care for their camels from the way they handles them and spoke about them, especially Tina <3 Highly highly recommend the camel safari on the "blue camels" <3

Our best experience in Broome! Took the 90minute sunset safari and worth every dollar... Observing the other companies that do this, I'm glad we booked the blue camels. Helen's team is what makes the "blue" camels a point of difference - they clearly love what they do ; and each team member had intimate knowledge of every camel (and insights on the other best things to see in Broome). Highly recommended!

My friend and I did the sunset ride at Cable Beach. The sight of the “Camel Train” sauntering along in single file along the beach to the boarding area for passengers was just magic. Really friendly staff who were eager to help with taking photos along our journey made the trip a very memorable experience. Loved it 🐪

Not sure if this it the Red Team, the Blue Team or the Yellow Team, however, I rode with the Blue Team and really enjoyed the experience. Far better than the camel I rode back in Alice Springs all those years ago. Amos was a great camel to ride! The staff were very good and informative about both Cable beach and the camels themselves. Their assistance in taking photos of the camels and riders at various angles and different times was terrific, and it seemed a bit surreal when walking back as the sun was setting to find so many other people not associated with any of the camel teams taking our photos with the sunset as a back drop. I came away feeling as though I had become a fixture (of some sort) in more than a few complete strangers' digital photo albums!

The camel ride on Cable Beach at sunset was the perfect way to end another hot day in Broome. It was easy mounting my camel, and the cameleers confidently led our train up and down the white sandy beach as the sun set over the azure water of the Indian Ocean. Jahla asked me if I'd like her to take photos of the experience, and she energetically ran around our group taking photos from near and far. What great memories. Thanks, Jahla!

Our family of 6 did the sunset ride mid week. We were on the beach with other company camel ride tours. Customer experience & service with Broome Camel Safaris very obviously excelled past others operating. From ease to get onto the camels to about 5 extra staff than other camel rides to offer to get (several) photos of you throughout the experience at no additional cost. Staff were friendly, knew heaps about camels in general & the camels we were riding. The kids loved feeding the camels carrots at the end of the ride. The experience overall was flawless & exceeded expectations. I can’t recommend this company & experience enough. Exceptionally good in all aspects.

This is the second time I have done this tour and it was a memorable experience, not just because of the amazing sunset and the novelty of riding a camel.along Cable Beach but also because of the amazing staff who genuinely wanted us to enjoy this tour. They were informative about the camels, took as many pictures as we wanted and were entertaining. Definitely recommend this tour while in Broome.

Great way to experience the wonderful Cable Beach sunsets.
NIgel was great reassuring 2 older ladies behind us who were very nervous. He chatted with them and put them at ease. They guides also were happy to take plenty of amazing photos. It's a shame this part of the beach is a carpark as 4WDs are allowed on the beach - and hundreds of them turn up for sunset.

I'm trying to book a ride for 2 in March 2022 but it's not allowing me to pick a date. Are you operating in March?
Written 7 November 2021
G'day! Whilst Broome itself apparently does not have a wet season as such, the heat between the months of November and early April makes it hard on both camels and cameleers and it is likely that the dates you are interested in are before the commencement of their season. I would recommend that you contact either the company in question (there are several, however, they will probably all run the same routine) or the Broome Tourist Centre and ask their advice.

I am intending to book but see there is a 90kg wight limit and I weigh 98kg.
Other people have said that at time of booking you are asked your weight and camels allocated accordingly.
Can you confirm or otherwise please if you can take the tour if you weigh 98kg ?
Cheers
