Not impressed at all, as there was a problem with my booking, at first I booked and paid 3x tickets and a week later I
It would be nice if trip organiser informed us day before that Puffing Billy trip is cut shorter that what is addvitised.

        Not a great Experience
This was a full day with long bus ride from Melbourne. Puffing Billy is a real waste of time unless you are taking small children. The Healesville Sanctuary has a nice assortment of Australian Animals and we were able to do the entire park and have lunch in two hours which left an hour to kill. Not a good use of a vacation day for us.

Comfy family zoo? It was unexpected but awesome for kids. Bring winter coat for the parade, you will never regret.
Good guide 👏 . He is so kind and acceptable of some of an unmodeling behaviors from customer's perspective. Thank you for your generosity.

A must trip if you have a day in Melbourne
Fantastic time with Ben being our guide. Ben was always friendly, chatty and helpful with ideas about where to eat and what to do as well going out of his way to assist in any way. I would highly recommend the tour since it is a lot of driving and he knows the roads. We left around 11:30am and first went on the Puffing Billy steam engine then onward to the Nobbes for an overlook with the final leg of the Penguin Parade which depends on the timing of the sun. It was so fantastic to see the Penguins come ashore and to see the babies eagerly wait their parents , this is a must do when you have time in Melbourne even though the trip back can be 2-2:30 minutes!

        Cramped legs!!
It was a fantastic trip. The only problem was the transporting bus was uncomfortable. The couple with the shortest legs chose the front seat. People with normal leg size were squished in. We enjoyed the train experience , Healesville sanctuary is very nice, and the ice cream/chocolate stop was GREAT!

        Oldies on Puffing Billy
Great experience the train ride was most exciting with hanging the legs out of the window, Healesville Sanctuary was a well-maintained bush setting sanctuary had a fair display of native animals and birds, the " Spirits of the Sky" arena event was a very impressive demonstration of smart birds and caring trainers. A special thanks to bus drivers Joey & Waza who soften the inconvenience of terrible errors in the pickup times, but overall a good day.

Take the family on a fun train ride.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip on Puffing Billy. This time we both hung out the side of the train. So much fun. We had booked an experience with the company that was no longer available, but the staff went out of their way to ensure that we had an equally nice time. Instead of a sit down lunch, we received a grazing box for two. There was more than enough food for us and the bonus was that we got to keep the Puffing Billy picnic rug. It was a way in which to remember this fun day. We had a nice picnic in the Emerald Lake Park. There were plenty of tables and some were under cover. After a wander around the park we then had a cooling drink in the Visitor Centre and went to look at the model train exhibition. It was then time to board the train to come home. Nice to know that Puffing Billy is still in use.

        Great day out.
Great day out for all the family.Loads to do and see for all ages.Love the way all the staff are in costume it really makes you feel like you have stepped back in time. Underground tours are well worth doing. Great value for money.Make sure you take water with you and a hat as it can get very hot walking around for hours.Get there early. Well worth a visit. Felt sorry for the horses pulling the stage coach along they looked so hot and tired.

        Great day
Joey was an excellent guide. We did this tour on our first full day in Australia. It rained most of the day but that made the animals super active.

        Exploring the Yarra Valley
You take a minibus to first get on an old fashioned steam train which puffs its way into the Yarra Valley. You then go to a Zoo to see animals indigenous to Australia. The Zoo part is far too long and the options at the Zoo for eating are pretty dismal.

        Superb day out
Our driver Joey was great kept us all entertained and gave us lots of information. The coach was comfortable and air conditioned. None of the activities seemed rushed we had plenty of time to enjoy the experience of Puffing Billy and the Healesville sanctuary. Perfect ending to the day was the chocolate factory. A very well organised enjoyable day.

What a day! When we booked our trip we were told we would be picked up at our hotel just like a couple of days prior when we were also taking a tour with a different company. We received text day or so before from Matt @(wine hop and coastal tours)saying we had to meet at a location which was a $40 taxi ride at 6:30am. Then after we board and do further pickups the bus drives back past our hotel.
Since we had such an early start I was really looking forward to the hot tea at our first stop… somehow it became a juice box!
On returning back to Melbourne we asked that Elisha our driver drop us off close to our hotel and we would walk. She wasn’t able to comprehend that since in her words (she’s not a city girl) that she couldn’t pull over and let us off.
1st day of the 30yr old driver taking all 24 of us on tour and it showed. She wasn’t very knowledgeable
She enjoyed talking about herself, and she enjoyed advertising her music. We were told we would arrive back to Melbourne by 7pm and since Elisha didn’t like any of the restaurants at the scheduled stop we voted to drive back. We didn’t arrive back until 8pm and that was without stopping for dinner. Can you imagine had we stopped!
Ps if you are taller than 5ft tall don’t use this bus company otherwise you will be extremely uncomfortable. Our knees were digging into the back of the chairs. Also the head rest was so tall we couldn’t see straight ahead

Hi Fiona, Thanks for taking the time to review. A couple of things you failed to mention. 1. You were not happy with the original seat you sat in and at the first stop you just moved someone elses belongings and took their seat. 2. The time back was due to roadworks as the west gate bridge is having in a tunnel built. Other comments in your review are double standards in my opinion. eg complaining about how long it took to get back and then complaining about not being picked up from your hotel as it was a long long way out of the city ($40 taxi fare as you stated), if we picked every person up outside of the city it wouldtake several hours longer before you left Melbourne and the same coming back. This would add hours more time to the trip that you complained about taking so long (8pm). Readers can also see on this very platform other 5 star reviews left for the same tour on the same day. Thanks again for taking the time to review.

The drive was very pretty and seeing the apostles and the ocean road was good. The beach we visited was nice. The van broke down which lengthened the beach time, which wasn’t an issue and nobody’s fault. However although the guide seemed to be a nice man, we were not given much information at all re the history of the place, the apostles, or much else, so maybe we could have just driven there ourselves. The ‘koala walk’ had one koala which is ok, but we were not accompanied, so if there were snakes or an emergency we would have had nobody, The toilet stops were horrendous, extremely dirty and could not be used, apart from lunch, when we used the cafe where we ate, Not worth spending so much

Absolutely loved the Great ocean road tour of Wine hop and coastal tours! Kelly was amazing and informative on Australian history and biology. The other solo backpackers were friendly which made the tour memorable. Although I have to call out one incident in the morning prior to the tour. What happened was I was already on my nominated pick up point by 5 am for the 7 am tour, by around 630 am i was wondering where the bus is and messaged the number +61 417 076 885 that i am ready. The man who picked up the phone sounded annoyed and told me there was another email sent out containing the updated pickup point. He then said the bus will go back with everyone on it to just pick me up sounding annoyed and dismissive making me feel guilty for the 10 minute lateness of the trip. I later found out after the tour that the other email was on my spam and that they tried calling me. I would suggest in the future that mobile texting might work better as some emails go to spam and people miss out on unknown callers. I maybe wrong here as well and should have reached out like 1 hour before the pick up time. Other than that it was a fun tour! 🙂

Took this tour on May-11. What a splendid wonderful tour this was. Right from the beginning at 6:40 am to evening at 6:40 pm, Matheu kept entertaining all of us right throughout the tour. Time flew so fast I wish I could relive it again. We loved this 12 Apostles tour and definitely recommend it to all as a must do in Melbourne. Matheu was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information on various things along the way. He recommended Georgie’s for lunch, and we being vegetarian were happy to find a very tasty Vegetarian burger there. Saw a Koala (we saw an echidna too) along the way. The trip stops are well timed and comfortable for older people too. We will definitely be back to try out other tours with Matheu and “Wine Hop and Coastal Tours”. Job well done !!

Brilliant small group (33) tour of the magnificent Great Ocean Road. Itinerary included several stops for picture opportunities, walks and seeing a wild koala in its natural environment.
Matt, our tour guide/driver hit the right balance between providing tour information, history and humour.
      Thoroughly enjoyed my day.

A couple of things to highlight if you are considering making a booking -

As per their website; Pick up and return from your city hotel -
Pick up is ONLY from a location close too Southern Cross Railway station. Our hotel in the CBD was a 25 minute brisk walk away and no other option was made available too us. The entire bus of 24 passengers were picked up from the one location, with a pick up time of 650am. The bus was 40min late leaving due to other passengers not arriving at the bus ontime. This may have been prevented if other pick up locations were available.

As per their website; A return stop off at Colac where you can purchase some dinner -
We drove straight through Colac and only stopped once on the return trip for a toilet break. We didnt get back into Melbourne CBD til after 830pm with the drop off location being at the southern Cross railway station.

Apart from these "highlighted" points it was an enjoyable tour. The scenery was lovely along the great ocean road and seeing 12 koalas in "the wild" was fantastic.

The "provided' morning tea was an anzac biscuit and a juice box. It would have been nice to have had a cup of tea or coffee.

Had a great time on our tour. At first we considered hiring a car, but because of the high prices over Easter and the long hours driving we decided to book a tour. Glad we did! Our driver Harley was friendly, informative and helpful, we enjoyed our time with him. It was a long, long day!! Picked up at 6.30 and returned at 7.30pm. As a group we decided to bypass the last stop to buy dinner and just head straight home to Melbourne. So glad I had read in a previous review to bring snacks along (or you could buy something at IGA supermarket at lunch stop), as we had something to nibble on the long drive home. Morning tea of a juice box and banana bread was provided. Lunch stop you could go and buy what you wanted - we tried the scallop pies, quite nice but drippy!! This was a great way to see some wonderful sights without the stress of driving yourself!

If you are lucky enough to get Jack as a guide you are in for a spectaculat tour. He did an amazing job keeping us exited throughout all 13h and explained everything in a manner that made you want to listen. As for the spots we visitet, I believe that they are key places that you must see if you ever go to Melbourne. They were all absolutely stunning, and thanks to Jack, we also learned their very interesting history. It doesn’t matter if you are alone, young or old, or if you are a family (wouldn’t recommend this for little kids though) this tour is a must.

A truly amazing tour. Aaron was a knowledgeable guide, who was enthusiastic about the trip and the information he imparted making you feel like it was more than a job. His enthusiasm made it easy to immerse yourself in the trip regardless it was a 12 hour day. It never felt long as he gave tidbit’s of information to keep us entertained. A first rate service made all the better by a guide who wanted everyone to have a great experience. I’d recommend this trip and ask for Aaron as your guide the man is amazing.

To spend 10 hours of a 14 hour scenic tour being driven in the back of a bus with no leg room and low seats so you cannot see in front and only a small view on the side yet paying the same price as everyone else in more comfortable higher up seats with large side windows is not really fair!! Especially when you are not told that you will get these seats! When we asked Matt, the driver, all he could reply was ‘’ a bit hard are they?’’ Luck of the draw I guess, you can take the chance and maybe ruin your day ….
The driver was the guide, he could have done with a colleague/recording to do the commentary which was slightly lacking due to the endless driving.
The tour said morning tea will be provided, no hot drinks or water, just a carton of juice and a slice of cake outside the bus. Not great considering we were picked up at 6.50am.
Hope this helps them provide a better experience in the future.
