- 31rameshr0 contributionsMelbourne Sports Arena TourThis tour was amazing. Ben is the most experienced, knowledgeable and passionate tour guide we have come across. He covered every sport (tennis, cricket, rugby, football) played at Melbourne!! It was clear that he was not doing this tour as a job! He brought tennis rackets for us to hit balls in the practice court! We highly recommend this tour!Written 18 March 2025
- grainne1p0 contributionsTicked my bucket list!!!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺❤️When I saw there was a Melbourne Park tour available I jumped at the chance🙌 The tour was 3hrs long- faciltated by our wonderful guide Catherine- a Melbourne lady with a superb provenance of experience working at the Australian open, meeting the players and regaling us and entertaining us with her stories ( sorry- no spoilers here😅) Anyone with an interest in Tennis would LOVE this walking tour! Catherine was a wonderful communicator and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing about what Melbourne had to offer- plus her informative account of Melbourne park , the arenas, the Olympics park, MCG etc… we accessed the hallowed indoor arena where the ‘greats’ train and practice during their tournaments.. and…. We got to play tennis there… soo excited for that… and can I just add.. we have NO tennis skills or experience- it was just magic to do this hsving watched the majors back home!! What a privilege to access Melbourne park and Catherines knowledge 🎾❤️🎾❤️🎾 Grainne and Ailbhe Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪🇦🇺🇦🇺Written 16 March 2025

Ben was very informative and highlighted some of Australia's sporting personalities from Australian Open at the Tennis Centre to Austrlralian Rules and cricket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Thoroughly recommend for all the family.Written 7 March 2025
- saraiE7613RV0 contributions강추예요 Highly recommended10/10 Ben was super professional and very attentive. Entire tour was filled with fun stories and history, and we've got to play tennis in the one of the courts at the end. My brother loves everything about tennis and he told me it was the best tour he ever had. It was such a great experience Written 5 March 2025
- betsyf6900 contributionsThe sports of Melbourne with a localGary was a friendly tour guide. We enjoyed seeing the sports sights. Unfortunately, we paid for this exclusion using Viator. Viator is a company that uses unclear language to make you think you earn "Rewards" for your booking. Bait and switch, I think it is called. If you complain and ask to.speak to a supervisor, that's a few hours you will not get back. Texting and emailing complaints are "never received", funny how that works. - rompie240 contributionsAmazing tour with Ben who is awesome! We loved the tour and while it focus mostly on Tennis, we learned about other Australian sports, including Australian football, which my kids loved. Ben was knowledgeable and great with all ages. We enjoyed seeing the Olympic park and the cricket stadium as well as getting to play on the Australian Open courts. We are so glad we did this tour and highly recommend to all tennis enthusiasts!Written 17 February 2025

The Australian Open Tennis is held in January, it's the first Tennis Oen of the year, it's held at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park. Close by is the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is famous for the Boxing Day Test Cricket, which is an international standard day. The MCG is also a highpoint for the Australian Football League, where its Grand Final is held every September. Golf is legendary in Melbourne. What the Putt in Brunswick is a fun golf option with three different themed courses. Doing this excursion was something we were so looking forward too but thought it might not happen when our cruise boat was delayed by 2 hours. However, Cathy and Ben made adjustments and we ended up having a wonderful day full of memories to cherish! Cathy is fun, energetic and full of interesting stories about the AO from personal experience. Big thanks for making it happen!!Written 16 February 2025

- W5343PBmicheleg0 contributionsBoxing Day Match & MoreThis was a perfect tour to become a part of and get a sense of the big sports side of Melbourne. Ben's passion, experience, and knowledge on Australian sports was so evident and his enthusiasm was contagious. My day included a ticket to the Boxing Day test match and for someone with no cricket background, Ben's insights on how the sport is played and what it means to Australia was a key reason I booked it. I learned so much on this tour and I'm even more eager to return one day to witness the Australian Open and other sporting events in the area. I highly recommend it!Written 2 January 2025

Ben is an amazing sports person, very well knowledge in all Australian sports and good at explaining details.
He arrives early also provides guidance on where to park anticipating that we will be new to the place.
Ben never rushed things, stops and explains the significance of building or history behind it. Gives times for photo opportunities.

Being a Melbourne resident a bit apprehensive taking the tour in my home town, however, the guide Ben provided a great insight to the history of Melbourne and the sporting aspect of the city. Lovely walk along the Yarra and visits to the Tennis Centre and MCG were highlights. Aspects of Melbourne's history which I never knew were provided. Would recommend to everybody especially visitors

Our MCG experience with Ben was awesome. Everything was great and a truly unique experience. If you're a sports fan and interested in learning more about the sports history of the city while attending a game at the most storied stadium in Australia, this is the experience for you. For us, we booked an AFL game that just happened to be hosting Ben's home team, creating an even more unique experience getting to know the ins and outs of his favorite team. We could not recommend this experience enough!

The Melbourne Sports Experience was a wonderful tour. The complex of all the sports venues is amazing, and our guide, Ben, clearly had a great passion for sports and the facilities. We learned about the history of sports in Australia, and how the complex came to be, with support from the city and its citizens. Melbourne is clearly the sports capital of the world, maybe with the exception of the Olympics, and it was great to see the behind-the-scenes, although I wish we had been able to go inside one the of the two major venues: Rod Laver and Margaret Court arenas.

I did this tour last week with Ben. Undoubtedly, one of the best city tours that I have done so far across countries/continents! Ben's sports background was very helpful as he explained the evolution of Melbourne's sports scene in a very clear and interesting manner! I would love to do this again myself and also recommend this tour, specifically with Ben to anyone exploring Melbourne!

Highly recommend this walking tour of the MCG and surrounding sports grounds and areas. Ben was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide and made sure we had a very informative tour of Rod Laver Arena and a walk around the Southbank areas and surrounding sporting complexes. Me & my teenage son were taken to the MCG, Rod Laver Arena (whilst the Aust Open was on) & along the Southbank rowing clubs, John Cain Arena, AAMI Park & Collingwood Football Club Oval. Loved the whole experience! Highly recommended to all sports fans 👍

Overall a great tour!
We started with a guided tour through Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is an impressive stadium mainly because of its size. However, it was after the MCG where the tour became really nice. Our guide Ben walked us through the area with all the sports facilities, including Rod Laver, Margeret Court, and John Cain Arena. He gave us really interesting insights about the whole area and the history of sport in Melbourne. I especially enjoyed that Ben was really open to all our questions and gave us a nice crash course in cricket and Australian Football rules as this was a blind spot coming from Germany.
To summarize, as a sports enthusiast, this is a must-do in Melbourne!
