Forest Therapy - worth it. Just lovely.
Forest Therapy - Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. This was not what I thought but everything that I loved. I thought it would be languishing amongst the trees but this was so much more immersive and thoroughly enjoyable. I was hoping to achieve some calm and peace but it was at such a deeper level than anticipated. Just absolutely lovely.

SUPER DAY OUT AT CRANBOURNE GARDENS
NOT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT TO EXPECT I WAS BLOWN AWAY WITH THE SCOPE AND BEAUTY OF THE GARDENS. THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE TOUR WAS EXCELLENT AND OUR DRIVER AND GUIDE, PETER, WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND HIS BRIGHT PERSONALITY MADE THE TOUR ENTERTAINING. LUNCH AT THE CAFE WAS DELICIOUS TOP MARKS ALL ROUND FOR A SUPER DAY OUT. NEXT TIME I'LL BRING THE GRANDCHILDREN AND A PICNIC IN THE BUSHLAND

      Short but sweet
Took the kids to the gardens just to get them out of the house and decided to book a bus tour to kill some time. It was advertised as taking 30 minutes but it was over in 15. I'm glad we went during the holidays, because that meant the kids got to ride for free. I couldn't justify the cost if that weren't the case. The tour guide was lovely and did a great job at telling us all about the different areas of the gardens and we even got to see a bandicoot that was trying to sneak a peek at people's picnics. The bus tour is definitely aimed more towards tourists, and i would recommend it for anyone visiting Australia as the tour really helps to understand Australia's different climates, wildlife and landscapes. The kids really enjoyed it, which was the most important thing for me.

Outstanding & a non-negotiable: a informative, expert, insightful and comfortable experience that gives you an overview of all aspects of the Garden in every season! Your visit will be the richer for it and it is soooo reasonably priced!

Nice tour with a great woman! Thanks for the little insight into the world of the indigenous people! Unfortunately, in the areas of Australia we visited, no "New Australians" seem to be interested in it... Thanks again!

      Good experience
The staff at the counter, Carry, was very helpful and friendly when we had inquiries to make about the tour we had booked. The garden itself is beautiful. Would love to revisit again some other day if I come back to Melbourne.

Highly recommended for those with mobility issues
What an amazing adventure! I booked online for a scooter and it was ready and waiting for me. We got coffees from the beautiful cafe and off we went looking around the Gardens. The two hour hire was the perfect amount of time for us to see most of it. It’s such an amazing peaceful experience to go through the mobility scooter isn’t too loud

Love what I learned and history behind
I love all I learn and also it was perfect not only about plants, also about the history behind the garden, how it was created, by who, the relation with Yarra River when it was constructed, etc.

A very relaxed but informative tour. Den, our guide, gave us insight to the heritage of the Aboriginal people and touched us with stories and humour.

Wonderful calm Oasis in the City
I always try to visit the Botanic Gardens after visiting the Shrine of Remembrance when in Melbourne from the UK. The gardens are beautifully laid out with good signage to guide you and helpful labels on the many plants, trees and shrubs. This is a wonderful, calm oasis and was ideal for a visit just before my long flight back to the UK.

      Very impressive, beautiful grounds
So glad I was told about this magical place, definitely stop at center 1st before going off on your own (which I didn't do), missed a lot & had to walk back especially to the breathtaking lakes. Some of the trees are just awesome, HUGE & majestic. Grass is thick & lush the farther you go into the park. Beautiful views of the lake with lily pads and birds all over. Gardens offer trolley rides around unfortunately I found out too late into the end of runs (5pm). Free to enter gardens Next to the Shrine of Remembrance, up the hill from the city Tram

Doing the 30 minute tram tour is the BEST way to familiarize yourself with the gardens, Our guide pointed out some really cool things along the way and now I have a plan of attack for when I walk in. Our guide from Guatemala was kind, patient, funny and super informative. I highly highly recommend doing this before you plan a large adventure inside the gardens, they are huge!

The Explorer bus tour was excellent - it lasted around 30 minutes.
    The driver/guide was great.
It gave us a good overview of the gardens and it's history, so we could decide what we wanted to re-visit on foot ( after a great lunch at the restaurant next to the visitor centre!).

Our RBG gardens in Melbourne are truly spectacular and a tribute to the gardeners who are so dedicated and knowledgeable.
Our tour consisted of mainly international guests and many would have been on the tour because of their interest in horticulture.
Our driver Eugenie was on a tight schedule so don’t be 1 minute late or she will leave without you.
Be aware, there is no refund if you miss due to lateness and you must pay again and rebook for the next tour, if it’s available.
Parking nearby is impossible on the weekends, so leave plenty of time.
We would have appreciated some solid interesting information about the gardens, the plants, birds and animals that exist here, as the RBG is an amazing diverse habitat in our CBD.
The tour was superficial and disappointing and limited to basic anecdotes and information.
Pet names for trees from our driver, limited botanic references and basically disappointing.
Not an impressive tour for a world class RBG, we are not all ignorant fools who need to be entertained.
The best thing was an overview of our stunning gardens without walking the entire circuit.
We later revisited areas that interested us.
I think we could have provided a better more informative tour and driven the bus ourselves.
Great if you have limited mobility and 1/2 hour only to see such spectacular gardens in the CBD.

Great way to view the gardens. There were only a couple on our tour so got to ask many questions which was great. The mini bus goes slow enough that you can take in the sights and our guide was knowledgeable on the plant life around. We were able to then explore specific areas of interest ourselves after the tour.

Whole tour is in the mini bus so if you want to get out and explore you will have to do this on your own time.

After visiting the Shrine of Remebrance, we crossed the street to our scheduled bus tour at the Melbourne Gardens. Again, we were treated to a private tour just like at the Shrine of Remembrance.
Although we were visiting Melbourne in the winter, this garden was well maintained and still very beautiful. Highly recommend taking the bus tour especially when visiting during the winter when the weather is chilly. The bus is a comfortable ride and covers a lot of ground in only a half hour.

Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens is one of the city's oldest and best-loved attractions. The wide variety of sights include majestic trees, colourful flowers and rolling lawns. There is a variety of gorgeous statues and other commemorative markers. You could easily spend all day in the Botanic Gardens if you had time, but who does there days?

Aboard the Explorer bus (as part of Shrine/Gardens Package), we enjoyed being driven around the lovely gardens while listening to commentary by our knowledgeable driver who pointed to all the changes that have occurred since our last visit. Our visit was enhanced by a very tasty (complimentary) Devonshire Tea in the Lakeside Cafe. However, although the coffee tasted well, those at our table agreed that it wasn't hot enough.
This brief visit has inspired me to re-visit those beautiful gardens for a longer enjoyment.

The Explorer Tour, with driver and guide Eliseo, was a highlight of our visit. The gardens are so expansive, it was wonderful to see so much of them in comfort and with Eliseo's expertise and Knowledge. Although we've visited the gardens several times, Eliseo pointed out many things we hadn't noticed before and explained a lot of the history which made our visit much more memorable.

I really enjoyed the 90 min walk through the botanical gardens. We were the only Australians on the walk and I still learned a lot. Jenny the guide was lovely and passionate. The only thing is, she is very softly spoken so it made it hard to hear all the information.

Saw the explorer at the Plaza. A happening area of the gardens. Our knowledgeable and friendly guide Eugenie took us on a 30 min tour of the gardens. A lovely way to explore the gardens. Even if you are locals like us on a staycation. A must do! Thanks Eugenie pick up point at the Plaza was very convenient and high profile place for sightseers to access the explorer. And visit the gift shop. Lots of lovely Australiana products and reasonably priced. Great friendly service. Thanks Vik ☺️
