The GOR (reverse route) was a long but great was to see so many iconic views of the coastline. The less impressive drive through the inland countryside is covered in the morning which was great as I am not a morning person. Rio, our driver, shared stories of the area as we drove to our first stop, Gibson's Steps. When he wasn't sharing stories with us, Rio played a nice mix of family friendly 70-90s music.

As we made several stops along the GOR Rio continued to shared a bit about each stop and while at each stop he also got out, made sure we were all going to the best areas and helping take pictures. Rio also ensured we saw a koala on the ride home. When we didn't spot one in one spot he stopped at another so we can wander and find one.

Lunch was selected and pre-ordered, which was great, because then it was ready and waiting along with a reserved table for us, at a cute local eatery. The staff here was lovely. We also stopped for ice cream and at a chocolate factory on our way home. There was also plenty of free water throughout the tour. The stops were well timed so we didn't spend too much time in the van on the way home.

Also, as someone who gets car sick, it was great to have the smaller van (12 ppl max) and that Rio was comfortable with passenger sitting up front. The reverse route coupled with the small group was perfect as we never had too many at the stops we hit. We did see that the parking lot at 12 Apostle was more crowded when we passed by it a little later in the day.

If you cannot take a few days to do the GOR, I highly recommend the Hit The Road reverse tour!

From start to finish, this company Hit the Road Tours, has left a good impression. One day before the tour, I received an email confirming the pick up time, place and I was given the tour guide's name and number. Very handy, just in case I needed to contact him in the morning. The company is very prompt to reply to emails. I always get motion sickness on long journeys and was worried that I might get sick on the bus. I emailed the company about this and on the day of the tour, the guide, immediately knew my situation and arranged for me to sit up the front. Great communication among the staff.

Our tour guide was Jack and he was very well experienced and communicated well. He told us how long each leg would take and gave us plenty of toilet breaks which is very helpful on long trips. Jack was friendly, efficient and did just the right amount of talking. He even made some jokes!

Lunch was at Port Campbell and the company had already arranged special tour bus prices with a local cafe. The whole tour was very well organised. We made frequent stops which is excellent and good for people who get motion sickness.
I loved the bonus stop at the Chocolate factory. A good way to end the trip and should be added to the regular itinerary.

I've been on many tours, and this is one of the best. I really like that it is a small group of only 10 people on the minibus. If you are wanting to go to the 12 Apostles and Great Ocean Road. Choose 'Hit the Road Tours.

The road trip along the coast line with amazing oceanic, countryside and hilly area views was really great. The natural landscapes once we arrived were surreal. Orlando was funny and told us about the history of each landscapes and major scenic views along the way. He was kind enough to take us to Twelve Apostles scenic view again because when we arrived, the weather was miserable. We could not enjoy there much as it was too windy, cloudy and foggy with little rain. Later when the weather cleared, Orlando took us there again while returning so that we could enjoy the iconic view in the sunlight. He came with us at each locations, helped us with photographs, kept us entertained with his witty humours. Overall, the journey was worth it and I recommend everyone to try their service.

The tour started right on time even though it was raining in the morning. Jack, our lovely tour guide, not only provided us with detailed information about the city and spots we stopped at, but also entertained us with riddles and his quick witted “dad” jokes. The tour itself is beautiful, more than enough time given to each and every stoppage. Would recommend taking up this tour over getting your own car as it covers so much in such little time.

Thanks Jack for a great day! I don’t think my partner and I could have attempted all that driving and gotten to all the stops in under 12 hours. Loved the reverse tour. It was nice to avoid the crowds especially at the 12 Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. The tour was well paced with lots of stops for snacks/toilet breaks. We even got in three bonus stops including the chocolate factory which my kids loved. We were lucky enough to see a koala in the wild as well. We had lunch in Port Campbell. The Alcove Cafe has special prices for HTR customers, and they were great about checking ingredients and making something for my daughter with a nut allergy. The only thing I would note is that if your budget allows, the premium bus does seem worthwhile if you need comfier more spacious seats. It’s like the difference between a Corolla and a Lexus. The Corolla was fine for our needs though! Thanks for a wonderful day!

Jimmy was great and had fascinating stories to tell, he also made sure that we got to see as much as we could due to the ever changing climate.

The Great Ocean Road was a long drive than initially thought but the breath taking scenery definitely makes up for it.

We were gifted with a cool brochure of the itinerary and a cute small toy Koala which was a nice incentive to finish off the day.

The tour was well planned and the execute was even better. I arrived very early to the meeting place and the guide (Jack) was allready there and he let me wait others in the car. And I got the best seat in the car. On our way to first stop Jack was understanding enought to let us sleep little (it was very early morning) and didn't start to tell us all kind of facts about Melbourne or great ocean road wich I personally appreciate a lot. After cofee he told us lot of intresting stories about places, towns.. etc we passed on the way. We were able to see a lot and thanks the grear planning we were able to see most if the place without crows. Even if the day was super long and after lunch everyone get sleepy Jack stoped on the way so we could get fresh air and he had all kind of car plays to keep us entertained. He was even able to give us 2 extra stop :) He also took very good care of us (made sure everyone drank enought water...etc) and really did his best and more to ensure that we had fun. He took his time to talk and get to know all of us; me like many others had came on to the tour alone so he made me feel like that I'm part of the group. So all in all great tour, yoy get to see all the best and popular places, fun and relax atmosphere and you definetly get value for your money.

The easiest 5 stars I've given!

Matthew was our wonderful, friendly driver/tour guide/genie. Not only did he get us everywhere on the itinerary safely, answered our questions but also squeezed in a few "bonus stops", which included a delicious stop at the Great Ocean Road Chocolateerie & Ice Creamary!

Overall the tour was packed full of must do sights a long the Great Ocean Road, such as the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, Port Campbell just to name a few. Also we managed to see WILD kangaroos and koalas.

I had a full day and enjoyed every minute! I will be recommending.

Thanks!

Our guide, Kat was great! despite the rainy weather, she made all the efforts to have sufficient rest stops and did all the activities, and even made it in time for the chocolate shop before their closing time despite our late start due to customers who decided not to turn up for the trip and the late lunch due to some miscommunication at the restaurant. Driving safely during rainy conditions is also very important and it was executed well. Definitely recommend it to everyone visiting Melbourne.
