A Walking Tour of Melbourne's historical underbelly? Yes, please!
My friend and I attended a Saturday morning tour with Michael and was astounded at his knowledge and enthusiasm of the historical content of Melbourne's seedy side from the late 1900s until the 1940s. The sites visited were very interesting. If you are concerned about walking too far, don't be as you spend a good amount of time at each stop on the tour. We bought a t-shirt each too. Well worth the money and time. He also has other tours, so next time we come to Melbourne, we are definitely going to do the night tour. Thanks Michael, the tour was fab!

    Melbourne True Crime Tour
What a fascinating tour this was, and Michael was very informative. I dont think anyone knows more, because he has written books about the subject. We were given a booklet about the characters we learnt about. I never knew so much about this part of Melbourne

    Two Hours Well Spent!
Michael's tour was fantastic! It offered a comprehensive insight into "old Fitzroy" in early 20th century. It was great to see all the buildings still standing today. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in Fitzroy back in the "bad old days"! Thanks Michael.

    A well researched tour
Michael has done his homework! His knowledge of the history of the area shone as we explored the area. He had a lot of stories to share and it was very interesting, the booklet that came with the tour was a nice complement and helped us keep track of the many characters. We will be signing up for his other tours!

Exciting Crime Scene Tours in Melbourne
This is our second time we have undertaken a Melbourne Crime tour with Michael our tour guide. His knowledge through years of accurate research via Police records provided us with an exciting insight into the crime of years ago. His ability to address questions from the tour is greatly appreciated as well. Even with the rain which eventuated he was able to adapt the tour and provide rain protection for everyone. Well worth it and we look forward to our next visit to Melbourne and our next Crime tour. Thanks Michael

    Thrilling Step Back in Time
I just went on the Fitzroy True Crime Tour and wow, it was amazing! Michael, our guide, really knew his stuff and made the tour super engaging. He took us through the cool yet edgy history of Fitzroy, Melbourne's oldest suburb, and a hotspot for all sorts of criminal shenanigans back in the 1900s. This tour isn't just a history lesson; it's an experience into a pivotal part of Melbourne’s past. It's a must-do for anyone interested in crime history or looking to see a different side of Melbourne. Kudos to Michael for such a well-organized and fascinating tour. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike!

    Great experience
My partner Suzy & I found the tour of historic sites in Melbourne's China Town precinct of great interest and Michael's knowledge of the historic buildings and characters of the era captivating. We have told friends of the tour and they are going to make a booking too. Well done Michael.

    SENSATIONAL FITZROY WALKING TOUR
What a fantastic day I had. This tour is brilliant and only made more memorable by Michael. A wonderful tour guide and historian. His knowledge sharing and story telling outside each of the points of interests makes you feel like you are actually living back in the time of the gangster wars. Cant wait to go back to Melbourne and do the CBD Tour. Thoroughly recommend this to anyone even if you are not interested in crime.

Firstly it was wonderful to be back in the city again.. it was filled with people just enjoying our marvellous Melbourne. I so enjoyed this walk and have spent today with the excellent booklet researching some of the fascinating things Michael , our tour guide, shared with us. The walk was filled with insights and revelations and I would heartily recommend this to anyone. Who knew about the little "gin distillery" in the middle of a huge high rise complex? Who knew about the sly grog shops the lolly shops and we had a chance to meet some of the shady characters and ordinary people from that time. Thanks Michael. Great tour. You brought history to life.

I recently spent a very enjoyable 2 hours learning about the history of the Little Lon area and its inhabitants of the last century and a bit. Michael was an excellent tour guide and knows the history of the area like the back of his hand. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know more of the local history of the infamous red light district.

The tour guide, Michael, is very knowledgeable about the historical nature of the area. He gives a nonstop commentary which is interesting and tells us about not only the significance of the area and its old buildings, but also the characters who lived there. The tour is over a two hour period and covers a fairly small area of a few city blocks so it is not hard for people who may have trouble walking. ( I had a toe to knee cast and found the walking very easy as there are a few stops along the way).

We did the tour on Saturday 10th Dec 2022.
It was fantastic, Michael Shelford is very knowledgeable on the topic and is someone you could spend hours chatting to.
The points of interest he highlights along the way, were amazing, being locals exploring our own city, it's amazing what you walk past without knowing the history of an area, Michael helped put that to bed forever.
I recommend this any Melbournite or O/S tourist.

Lovely meander around my home town, learning parts of history I had no idea of! Very enlightening. Michael was full of unique knowledge of the period of "Little Lon" and its great to see his knowledge go towards preserving some of these old buildings that are so much part of our history.

Very interesting and worthwhile tour. Two hours investigating Melbourne's colourful Underworld.

We saw where famous brothels were and heard the stories about the "ladies" who ran them. We saw where the Sly Grog shops were and the stories about the proprietors. We saw where "Quizzy" Taylor lived

Michael the Tour Guide was excellent; very knowledgeable and pleasant

What a fantastic tour we had! The information that was given on this tour was incredible and learning the history of the past and it’s characters was fabulous. The knowledge and in-depth descriptions given added that extra to our overall experience. It was so good we booked another tour for the next day in Fitzroy! We couldn’t recommend highly enough if this is your kind of gig. Go for it 👏🏻👏🏻
