Absolute blast with Dino and Mark!
The 12 Apostles, Otways, and Great Ocean Road day tour from Melbourne is a breathtaking journey through some of Australia's most iconic landscapes. From the bustling city streets of Melbourne, you'll embark on a scenic drive along the rugged coastline of the Great Ocean Road, one of the world's most scenic coastal drives. The highlight of the tour is undoubtedly the 12 Apostles, a collection of limestone stacks rising majestically from the Southern Ocean. These stunning rock formations are a testament to the power of nature and offer breathtaking photo opportunities at every turn. In addition to the 12 Apostles, the tour also takes you through the lush rainforests of the Otway Ranges, where you can marvel at towering ferns, ancient trees, and cascading waterfalls. It's a peaceful retreat into nature's embrace, offering a welcome contrast to the dramatic coastal scenery. Throughout the journey, our knowledgeable guides Mark and Dino provide fascinating insights into the history, geology, and ecology of the region, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, photography buff, or simply looking for a memorable day trip from Melbourne, the 12 Apostles, Otways, and Great Ocean Road tour offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and adventure.

      Must do in Melbourne
I did two tours (Phillip Island and Wilson Prom) with Hike and Seek and they were both fantastic! The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. I enjoyed incorporating hikes into the day instead of just stopping off at a viewpoint like most tour companies. We saw lots of wildlife too. I highly recommend booking with Hike and Seek!

      Wilsons Promontory Day Tour
Loved the tour! The day was packed with stunning nature views and hikes and we were even able to spot lots of wild animals along the way! The bus (eight-seater VW Bus) was super comfy and the small group had a great dynamic. Would recommend to bring hiking boots, sun protection, snacks and a 1L water bottle.

What a delight! The bakery on the way was delicious. The hike was about 7 miles. We saw wallabies, spectacular views and an echidna. Then it was off to the Koala Sanctuary. It's very touching that there is so much space for them and some had been rescued during the wildfires. After that we did another small walk where we could see rescued penguins nesting, grey geese and more wallabies. The penguin parade was pure joy. I would suggest going to the far gift shop before popping down because it gets crowded straight afterwards. Seeing the penguins emerging out of the ocean, wait til there are enough to waddle up the beach to goto their homes was delightful. Really a wonderful outing that is such a special day.

This highly recommendable trip was led by the knowledgeable and easy-going driver and guide, Shane. The tour was a great combination of hiking along stunning beaches and cliff tops, spotting native wildlife and seeing beautiful coastal views. In addition to the amazing Penguin Parade, we saw lots of wallabies, a koala in the wild (in addition to the ones at the Conservation Reserve), an echidna and a Lowland Copperhead snake. Shane also told us exactly where to stand to get the best view of the penguins during the Penguin Parade.

We had a memorable trip to Philip Island on 21 Oct 2022. It was a small group of 6 pax with our driver cum tour guide Shane. He told us many interesting stories about Australian culture and history. He was always looking out to ensure none of us was left behind. The trip was well-paced and content-rich. We spotted wallabies, koalas echidnas, galah, cape barren geese, and best of all the many adorable small penguins.

Shane is very professional and welcoming with lots of interesting stories. The hike is great and easy, a little challenging for my in-their-60s parents but they did pretty good job and the group was also very kind and patient. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I went on the Phillip Island tour with James and could not have asked for a better experience. The entire day was wonderful - the hike was the perfect length, the lunch was delicious, we saw lots of wildlife, and the company was great! We had booked another tour company for a visit to the Great Ocean Road later in the week and were sad that it hadn't been with Hike & Seek, after such a great experience on the Phillip Island tour. Highly recommend booking with them!!

To be clear I never made it on this tour. And from all the reviews it looks like once you make it on there you will have a fabulous time.

But I feel for those going in the quieter winter season and perhaps post Covid should be made more aware that the advertised live itinerary of when the tours are going each week are likely to change completely and at very short notice.

I’d booked to go on the Phillip Island tour and arranged my week more or less on the presumption this was the one evening I’d be heading out of town.

I booked on the Sunday - for the Tuesday. And had planned to book the Mornington tour set down for Wednesday too if I liked this one.

Despite having given them my phone number in the booking process I was informed via email on Monday afternoon the tour wasn’t going ahead. An email I didn’t read till late in the evening - making arranging an alternative tour impossible.

Thinking I could replace it with the Mornington tour on the Wednesday - I realised that wasn’t going ahead either.

I then thought the advertised Yarra Valley tour could be an option for Friday - but that too was cancelled.

They did offer several other alternatives, but none suited due to timings and the fact I’d already been to some of the other destinations they suggested.

Unable to find another company doing a Philip Island tour this week - I ended up hiring a car for a couple of days which worked out well, but hadn’t been my original plan. And did take a bit of last minute frazzled organisation and that I’d rather have spent enjoying the sights of Melbourne.

And while ultimately they have refunded me - this has still cost me due to the difference in the exchange rate. Which the company was not at all apologetic for.

I can appreciate it’s been a rough few years with Covid, and running a small tour is not profitable for them. But given the frequency of the schedule being changed this particular week at least - it does make for an unreliable booking system that I think people should be aware of.

I’m sure if you get past all of that this would be a lovely tour to go on…
