      A wonderful night time adventure!
This is a don't miss if you are an animal lover. We drove and walked through the forest, looking for local nocturnal animals and were note disappointed. Saw lots of wombats, roos and a few wallabies, plus a bonus wombat baby and 2 owls. Great information from our tour leader. We drank from a mineral spring deep in the night time forest as well. A trip high light overall!

      Awesome
We had such a good night with Scott. We saw about 9 wombats, plus wallabies, kangaroos, ring tailed possums (a rare possum that I can't remember the name of) and an amazing tawny frogmouth! We learnt some fascinating local history as well. Scott had an amazing eye and knowledge for the natural surroundings. All in all a really fun night out and we were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife. Highly recommended a trip with Scott!

      Amazing nocturnal tour!
Four of us spent a few hours with Scott. We saw more than we expected (wombats, possums, kangaroos, owls etc), we learned loads about the history of the animals and environment and we taught many interesting facts about each individual animal. Scott is extremely knowledgeable, very enthusiastic and is able to teach whilst keeping us laughing simultaneously. The four of us would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys wildlife, history and generally having fun!

Best tour ever. Great Experience, met lots of WOMBAT
A private tour, full of fun, surprise and laugh...Scott is a humor person, make us have a wonderful night. He took us to look for different lovely animal, like possum, kangaroo, rabbit, owl, especially WOMBAT. He must have a GPS which is for him to spot wombat because we met lots of wombats, they are so adorable. We also learn lots of knowledge of wombat as well as other animals. This is the best tour we ever joined. Strongly recommended tour for anyone. Absolutely worth it!

      The best of the best
If you are looking to have the best tour in Melbourne and surrounding areas that also includes a up close view of wombats look no further. We had the best time exploring and learning about the wombat state forest with Scott as our tour guide. He ensured we had the best tour and we saw a long list of animals and creatures of the forest. This tour was by far one of the highlights of our trip to Australia and probably one of the best tours we had ever been on. Scott brings a true joy and passion to the tours along with a comedy routine. He made sure everyone on the tour enjoyed themselves and was extremely knowledgeable about not only wombats but all surroundings areas and animals. If you’re coming from Melbourne and getting picked up in Woodend we suggest arriving early to have a pint from the local Brewhouse Holgate. It was a perfect way to begin an evening of exploring. If we ever come back to Australia we would definitely do the overnight stay at the farm. Thanks again for such an amazing tour and going above and beyond to show us a great time Scott!

      Fun family adventure
Scott was a fantastic host on our night tour in and around Daylesford. We got to venture deep into the forest in search of wombats and other wildlife. Scott really brought the trip to life with lots of interesting and fun facts about the area and it’s nocturnal habitants! Well worth it. Keep your eyes peeled.....you never know what you might find out there!

See the Creatures of the Night...
We were a group of six and we had a wonderful time with Scott searching for wombats. It was a very cold night, close to zero, but it mattered not- we saw 5 wombats (and sadly a sixth who had been hit by a vehicle), a possum and heard lots of critters we couldn't see. Your host, Scott, is full of stories, facts and enthusiasm. Highly recommended.

      Highlight of our Daylesford trip!
My girlfriend and I booked this trip in advance because of the positive ratings we saw on tripadvisor. We were a little skeptical at the start but boy, it was worth it! Our tour guide for the night, the one and only, Scott, was absolutely fantastic. He was driver, comedian, historian, ghost story teller, animal spotter, mineral specialist all at once!! Some believe he is the only man in this planet capable of multitasking, that guy. By the end of the night, we knew all about wombats. Where the wombats slept, how the wombats slept, how the wombats reproduce, how large the population of wombats, who were their predators, the list goes on!! Yes, we saw 5 wombats that night but it was scott that stole the show. All in all, highly entertaining, super interesting if you've never seen a wombat like me. Comfortable ride, generous with the heater. Minimal walking. For the price, 10/10 would recommend anyone!

      Delightful evening all 'round!
My husband and I booked this tour at the last minute as a bit of entertainment for our Friday night stay in Daylesford. Everything about this tour was friendly, fun and easy-going - right from the pick-up at the front of our accommodation! Scott is a truly wonderful guide! He was enthusiastic, knowledgable and very personable. We immediately felt comfortable asking questions about the tour and the area. We learnt a lot while on this tour, not just about the native wildlife but the history of the region itself. Unfortunately it was a bit of a quiet night in terms of wildlife-spotting, but that's the luck of the draw with a nature tour! Scott's stories and humour easily compensated for the shy wombats! We would highly recommend this tour as great value for money (especially if staying in Daylesford) and a truly enjoyable evening all 'round!

      Fun nature tour
Great tour to see some of the local wildlife & bushland & hear some of the history of the Daylesford area. Our guide Scott made the tour interesting & funny with his little anecdotes of the area & previous tours. We saw 7 wombats, a number of wallabies, kangaroos, rabbits & possums, a pair of sleeping kookaburras & an owl. Great night out to see something different & have some fun with friends & family.

such an awesome day/evening- Do it!
This is such a brilliant set-up because it's the perfect way to see Victoria's wildlife whilst enjoying some home-comforts off the beaten tourist track. We saw so much cool stuff; 'roos, kookaburras, bats, possums, wombats (inc cuboid wombat poo), AND an echidna. Scott is so friendly & fun- if anyone can find the animals, it's him. Being invited into his home to meet his lovely family & have a home-cooked meal was such a treat. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip down East-coast Australia- thanks Scott!! :D

Do it! Awesome tour with an amazing guide
Stumbled upon this tour when looking into Daylesford activities for a wombat-mad visitor from overseas - and boy am I glad that we did! After a full day exploring the region, taking the waters and dinner at the "local", Scott collected us from the pub in his custom 4WD van and took us on an adventure that won't soon be forgotten. With only the three of us on the tour that night it was more like a ride through the forest with a well-informed local mate than a tour (a good thing). Scott was informative and engaging with old and young alike, he drove carefully and safely (the van has seat belts). We raced kangaroos, saw wallabies, boxing eastern greys, sampled local naturally carbonated water at the source, looked (unsuccessfully) for tiny bats, and (successfully) for wombats and enjoyed the well spotlight sights and sounds of the forest at night while learning some interesting things about the history of the area and local legends. Wombats are nocturnal and can be elusive but Scott wears his ability to spot them as a badge of honour and would not give up until we had seen some - particularly given the enthusiasm of my very grateful wombat obsessed friend (the others saw 2, I saw 3) . A much more intimate and enjoyable wildlife experience than some of the more commercial wildlife offerings available. Definitely will do this again next time we have a visitor from overseas. Please bear in mind that this is an animal spotting safari type your and sightings cannot be guaranteed - but we're we're assured that with a strike rate of about 99/100 the odds of us seeing at least one wombat in the wild and active and moving were pretty good. Thanks so much! Sorry - no photos. It was too dark and the wombats too quick!

Scott the owner of wombat discovery tours was great as a guide and funny commentary. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with Scott and we were the only two on his tour bus which was quite comfortable. He grew up in Melbourne and now has a small farm outside of the city with a wife and 2 children and lots of animals. He drove us to the places that show what is best about Melbourne, provided a quiet scenic location for lunch, stops for coffee, the skydeck tower with tickets provided and the shrine of remembrance. Highly recommend this tour for folks who don't want to be packed in a bus and rushed around the town.

Scott met us right away from the cruise ship and off we went. From the moment we left Scott told stories and kept us informed of the local highlights. We saw so much of Melbourne in one day, that I truly got a good feel for the city. It was PERFECT for only one day in Melbourne before the cruise left for Sydney. Highlights included lunch by a river and a local joint that had killer coffee and pastries, city tour and zipping to the top of Melbourne's highest building (plus homemade cookies). Forget the excursions off the ship, go small group with Scott! It was one of our best days out of our entire 14 days in NZ and AU.

Scott spent the day showing us an insider view of Melbourne. He took us to places that a typical, large tour would not go. We could tell he really knew the area well and connected with it. We had a lot fun drinking coffee and visiting a pub. He was a lot of fun and we enjoyed our day with him. It went by quickly.
