- TravelingDCGourmand0 contributionsA great tour for anyone who enjoys coffee!!!Monique led a great coffee tour of four amazing and unique coffee shops. My wife and I had amazing drinks of our choosing at each shop and learned a lot about coffee and Melbourne’s rich coffee heritage. Check out a few of the drinks we enjoyed!!!Written 18 September 2024
- laurenschillaci0 contributionsAn essential Melbourne experience!Monique was a knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating tour guide. A lovely variety of spots visited which we never would have stumbled upon otherwise.Written 24 August 2024
- Stephen_Crouch0 contributionsAmazing, friendly, knowledgable guide and delicious dumplings, with a side of history. Not to be missed! The Melbourne Dumpling Walking Tour, for which we had Chev as our guide, was nothing short of extraordinary. From meeting fellow dumpling appreciators, to learning about the history of Chinatown, as well as the stories behind each location, to of course the delicious dumplings themselves, was the perfect way to spend a cold Melbourne Wednesday night. Chev was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the tour, offered amazing insights into each restaurant and the types of dumplings they served. She also offered suggestions based on the tastes of the group, and kept conversations flowing allowing everyone to get to know each other better. I'd highly recommend this tour, you won't be disappointed. Especially with Chev as your tour guide, you'll be in good hands, as well as enjoy an array of amazingly delicious dumplings (seriously, some of these dumplings are heavenly). One of the best parts is discovering restaurants (both small and large) that you wouldn't otherwise visit! Definitely adding to the list of to-visit-again locations. Thanks Chev, and thanks Walk Melbourne Tours!!Written 20 August 2024

It was a pleasant enough tour with 7 nice people but it was not a particularly good food tour. I have been on various food tours which show you a city's hidden food treasures that you don't know as a visitor. This tour is basic with the 7 visits being made up of: 1) Vegemite on toast 2) half mince pie 3) ordinary coffee 4) great dumplings 5) honey tasting 6) a macaroon 7) glass wine at incredibly loud music noisey bar.. Melbourne food is so much more than this ....

We're sorry you didn't enjoy our selection of tastes of Melbourne. We try to include a combination of typical Australian tastes for our international visitors as well as some really typical bites and drinks that local Melbournians love.
I noticed that you didn't enjoy the coffee. We visit this cafe as the coffee is roasted locally from high quality beans and in a cafe that is very typical of the city's coffee culture.
The laneway bar we finish at is one of the most loved by locals in the city and it's true that it can get busy on a Friday! Of course, we're glad that you liked the dumplings.
We often get feedback that our guests would not have found these venues without the tour, so we feel like there are a few food treasures in there.
We hope that you were able to enjoy some of our other recommendations to make the rest of your time in Melbourne fun!

We met Monique very easily at the start of the tour. She was very friendly and informative regarding Melbourne as we walked around the CBD and all the half-hidden lane ways. The food choices were excellent with a combination of sweet, savory and coffee. We did the tour on our first full day in Melbourne which then made it easier for good food selections over the next couple of days as we wondered around the city (we visited a couple of the places again). We have completed foodie tours in other countries, but this was our first in our home country. We really enjoyed it and it was comparable to any we have done overseas. If you are new to Melbourne or have visited, but not really explored the laneway food culture of the CBD, then I would definitely recommend this tour.

We visited Melbourne with friends and this trip turned out to be an unexpected hi light of our tour. Melinda our guide was engaging, knowledgeable and humorous. We explored the city’s lanes and eateries whilst learning lots of hidden secrets that we’d never have discovered on our own. The best food for me was Shandong Mamma Mini..... Dumplings to die for! Thank you Melinda. It was a real pleasure.

Monique is clearly very passionate about Melbourne and food, she is also a great storyteller. Since it was our first time in Melbourne, we've booked this tour as a way to learn a bit about the city and also experience great food. She didn't disappointed us.
We were able to learn about Melbourne history and architecture while we walked our way around each tasting stop. We also learned about the story of each business we had visited, adding an even more interesting layer to the experience.
The tour was fluid, each stop made sense, and most importantly, she really cares about the experience of each individual participating in the tour.Friendly, polite, knowledgeable and positive tour guide. We had a great time and really recommend it!

What a wonderful way to spend a few hours, traipsing around the laneways of Melbourne lead by a genial expert (Monique), being regaled with fascinating insights into the city while also being fed delectable examples of best food around from places that might take a lifetime to discover otherwise. A walking tour is always the best way to explore a city and this one is amongst the best around, anywhere. Just book.

Our guide Andrew has a great personality and made the tour fun and interesting. He took us to specialist food shops for tastings, and he also spoke about Melbourne's history and architecture. His passion for Melbourne was evident.
I recommend this tour, which lasted 3-1/2 hours and was value for money, to anyone.

We had a great time on this tour. The guide was from Melbourne and shared so many interesting facts about the city. There were several stops and we tried a variety of foods with the last stop being a drink at a really cool bar off the beaten path. She showed us some street art and took us through some of the buildings/arcades and shared the history behind them. She also gave us a recommendation for a great restaurant near our hotel on our last night that we went to. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Melbourne

Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared historical information as well as taking us to many different ethnic restaurants. She also included showing us some of the street artwork. The food was delicious and I was able to participate fully even though I needed gluten free choices. I was quite full when the tour was over and I recommend this tour

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and he promised us we'd leave feeling full, and he wasn't wrong! What I loved most was that even as a local, I learnt so much about some hidden and less well-known places in my own city! We tasted delicious macaroons, some seriously good coffee, tasty banh mis, uniquely delicious dumplings, a decadent hot chocolate like no other and finished it all off with a cleansing gelato followed by a beverage in a vibrant watering hole at the end of a hidden laneway! I would highly recommend this tour and it was perfect for my work team building activity.

Melbourne has thousands of places to eat and this tour gives a local window into some of the hidden treasures that only locals know. The tour covered only 2 blocks around the Bourke Street Mall, so not much walking. Seating was provided at all venues. Food variety was very good, some Asian, coffee, hot chocolate (which is to die for), sweet and the last stop was a bar. Our guide, Monique, gave a history of each stop and the philosophy of the owners, as well as some history of Melbourne. If you want to kill some time, eat well and get some inspiration of places to eat this tour is for you. Small group, we only had 6.

What are the typical foods you get on the food tasting tour? I see that you get Chinese dumplings, coffee, and pastries. I assume there are other foods?

Hi from memory we had coffee, dumplings, gelato, Vietnamese, special hot and treat and a beer at the end. I think it can change depending on the size of the group. Also interesting history of Melbourne and lane ways thrown in as you walk around. I recommend it.
