- jenniferdG8780IC0 contributionsGreat chocolate tour.Great walking tour with Ivan , who was interesting, fun and thoughtful. We visited a few select chocolate makers and tasted their delicious wares. Very enjoyable !Written 30 September 2024
- 850fionac0 contributionsVery enjoyable experienceReally enjoyed this activity. I had never done a walking tour before and as it was my first time visiting Melbourne, it was great to walk through different lanes and discover lots of hidden gems! It was lovely sampling different chocolates and cheeses too and rounding off the tour with a lovely mug of hot chocolate. The only downside was that I ended up getting hooked on Koko Black dark chocolate salted caramels and am missing them terribly now that I'm back home in Ireland!! I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to walk through the laneways of central Melbourne with the security of a group and guide and of course for anyone who loves chocolate!!Written 14 September 2024
- Kannanscan0 contributionsChocolate on the walksJake took us through an interesting chocolate walking tour through the streets of Melbourne along various arcades , we got to taste some amazing chocolates made from local ingredients , we also got to taste the Korean bingsu to end the tour, highly recommend to all that are looking for a different kind of experienceWritten 18 July 2024
- ninalG9657JW0 contributionsJack the amazing chocolate tour guide! We booked this tour with our two boys during school holiday. We absolutely enjoyed it and Jack our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through the most amazing chocolate hidden gems in Melbourne. - thekraz0 contributionsA tour de force for chocolate lovers and non chocolate lovers alikeA great tour with Ivan. Not the expected tour of standard chocolate stores but an innovative one incorporating chocolate with spices, cheese pairings, chocolate dim sum and sumptuous hot chocolates. Ivan was a wonderful guide, knowledgeable and entertaining. Recommended for chocoholics and non chocoholics alike.Written 16 June 2024
- chauntels1510 contributionsChocoholic Walking Tour Birthday Party! We did this as a private tour for our daughters 13th birthday - 15 tween girls came along. We were a bit worried how it would be received but everyone absolutely loved it! Ivan was an amazing host (who was also a little nervous at the 15 tweens!) but he was an absolute gem who made the experience super interesting for all attending and very special for our daughter. We definitely had plenty of chocolate and got to really explore some stores we hadn't ever discovered before. Highly recommend!Written 20 May 2024
- John P0 contributionsA delightful experienceOur guide Jake led us on a delightful journey through chocolate heaven in Melbourne. We were treated to unique and wonderful chocolate dishes with a detailed explanation of its history and the diversity. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the experience.Written 6 May 2024
- Judith P0 contributionsUnexpected gemPair a walk through arcades and alleys with tasting chocolate in unexpected places and you have this tour. There is chocolate from a spice shop, smoked hot chocolate down a tiny alley, chocolate bao from a Michelin star restaurant in a mall, to a chocolate and cheese pairing, and so much more. You won't be disappointed.Written 6 May 2024
- Stimmo250 contributionsGreat Experience, highly recommendedThe tour was a birthday present to us and was great. Our guide was Jake and he was friendly and provided great information as well as good tastings. I have lived in Melbourne all my life but learned a lot not only about chocolate but Melbourne as well. The tastings were really good and varied and the highlight was definitely Degraves Espresso and the Spanish Torrijas. Thanks Jake for a wonderful couple of hours.Written 2 April 2024
- 19tracieh0 contributionsPerfect mix of chocolate and architectureThis was the most delicious walking tour I have experienced. Plenty of samples of quality chocolate with Jake, our guide, explaining the architecture of beautiful arcades and brief history. Even though we are ‘locals’, we went down a few lane ways we didn’t even know existed. A delicious way to explore Melbourne.Written 6 March 2024
- DayTrip019981525220 contributionsWonderful walking tour through MelbourneWe had a wonderful day walking through Melbourne with Emily. Never would have found some of the venues without the tour guidance and everything was very personal, private, and enjoyable. Vendors gave discounts and were very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this tour to to anyone in Melbourne that enjoys chocolate and seeing things from a “behind the curtain” kind of approach. Additionally, the tour was very affordable for what you got (5 stops at 5 different vendor locations). Walked away full but everything was just a delicious little sample.Written 13 January 2024

We got to taste a variety of different chocolates (maybe a little different than we would normally try. The last dessert was a complete surprise, unusual but delicious. Don't get a hot chocolate as I did. I'm so full! Be sure to take this tour!Written 27 October 2023
- koshkamax0 contributionsTonya is a fabulous tour guide !!Tour was great. Tonya was engaging and knowledgable. We had ten in our tour group, which was a nice size. We enjoyed the samples at the four stores we visited with a highlight being the Bing Su at the last stop (see photo), it was like a shredded chocolate paddlepop with strawberries and boba underneath 🤤.Written 6 October 2023

This chocolate tour was AMAZING!!! Meg our tour guide delighted us with hidden gems of the city and gave us just the right amount of information without overwhelming us with facts! The chocolate was delicious. A huge variety of unusual chocolates and even some cheese pairings. Just enough information about the chocolate and the shops to whet the appetite and the tastings did not disappoint. We were a party of 4 with 2 teens and everyone was happy. The tour took just over 2 hours and not really a lot of walking between stops. If you are a local or a visitor add this to your “must do lit if you like chocolate - we highly recommend it.

Really enjoyed this tour. I booked it not really knowing what it would turn out to be but thinking it would be a fun way to explore part of Melbourne. What we got was a really enjoyable, curated experience with a knowledgeable guide, touring some gorgeous boutiques and the value was great. When you tally up what you are given in tastings and add in the two hours of a guide’s time and the entertainment, it really was worth it. It appealed to the ages ranges across our group - children and adults and we all agreed we had had a very nice time.

My 4 adult children and I have enjoyed being on the tour on a glorious autumn day with our knowledgeable and gregarious guide Ivan. We loved his knowledge of the lanes and alleys which are not new to us but we have gained greater appreciation of these places upon being told of their history and some of its interesting stories. The chocolates we sampled were a big hit and we were able to purchase some to take home. Being a chocolate lover, it was great to be able to taste different kinds of chocolates on offer. My kids and I had a lovely afternoon all around. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to see and experience our beautiful city!

We just didn't enjoy this tour, we really wanted to, but it wasn't for our family of 4 (2 parents and 2 teens).
Our tour guide was great, she was very personable and made a point to keep everyone included and communicate what we were doing and where we were headed next. I really think she was just put into a tour that was poorly designed.
Unfortunately, the tour stops on our tour seemed to be selected around business arrangements between the tour operator and the business owners... it really felt forced in a few of them. I get it, you want to highlight nice chocolates and give people an opportunity to make some purchases but there were some poor fits here. The Spice Shop? A long walk through the shopping mall to get to a dumpling place? It was just so forced it didn't work.
A thought or two for the tour designer... we were not wow'd here at all. Maybe this tour is just for the connoisseur, we love well made chocolate but the tour left us feeling that we paid a hefty fee to be taken shopping. We had 2 teens on the tour as well, they were really hoping for more tasting. Overall value / enjoyment for the price we paid was very low for us. Don't recommend this for families at all.

Hi Bruce, thank you for taking the time to share your review. I'm really sorry to hear that the tour didn't meet your expectations. We don't actually recommend this tour for children as we have an afternoon tour that is designed for families. Hopefully, next time you visit Melbourne you'll be able to join the afternoon tour and get the excellent kind of experience we're known for, chocolate regards, Carl and Chocolate team

This tour was a lot more than just about chocolate. It was about the origins, the types, the spices & as a chocoholic, our love affair with it.
The highlight for me was the Chocolate Lava filled Dumpling I fell in love with at our visit to the Din Tai Fung Restaurant.
The history lesson in the tour was fascinating from a historical fine art painted ceiling rediscovered in the 1980’s to the very first escalator from 1932 in Melbourne at the Manchester Unity Building.
What made this tour a complete package worth 5 Stars was our very passionate tour guide Julia who really did dot the “I’s” & crossed the “T’s” with Chocolate.
We’ll done, great job.

Julia led our small group on a chocolate extravaganza during which we learnt and experienced many different chocolates (and cheese pairings), all of which were delicious. This 3 hr tour is thoroughly recommended, especially for chocaholics! Fantastic experience. Thanks so much Julia (not Monica! ;) ) for a wonderful time! Claire and Ian from Mornington Peninsula.

This tour was great. It had more variety than expected with a good balance between traditional chocolatiers and other surprises along the way. Ivan was a great guide pointing out plenty of history and key laneway and building features between the foodie stops.

Along with our chocolate tastings, our guide Tonya provided some historical facts relating to some of the lovely arcades we visited. She was also able to offer some suggestions of other places we might like to visit after our walk was over. The tastings offered provided some very difficult choices as the chocolates looked like works of art and the flavours were many and varied. A great way to spend a few hours and enough walking to work off the calories.

We had a really great time on our chocolate tour with Julia. Even though we had done the tour a few years ago, all of the places we visited (except one) were new stops - we are also both Melburnians and one of us works for a well known chocolate shop in the city. Despite this prior knowledge, we both still learnt a lot and discovered some new favorites - Julia has a fantastic range of knowledge about Melbourne and chocolate. Julia is also warm and friendly, which made for a relaxing tour and makes you feel comfortable asking questions.

Variety of venues and chocolate tastings exceeded expectations. Guide Peggy very knowledgeable about all things chocolate, including historical and cultural aspects. Well organised tour, nicely paced, friendly and inclusive vibe. The surprise dessert at the end was really nice, filling and beautifully presented. The tour was unexpectedly good value for such premium products and we made liberal use of the shop discounts to stock up. A tour you will remember and literally savour for some time to come as you work your way thru your purchases.
