About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 213sirishk0 contributionsExcellent Sports Complexes walking tourExcellent walking tour. The guide was very friendly, helpful, and courteous. Even though just two of us went on this tour, unlike many other tour operators, this company didn’t cancel our tour. Only because of their commitment to customer service, we were able to visit the sports complexes and Olympic park. Thank you so much for making this possible for us.Written 5 September 2024
- P537XLleighc0 contributionsWould rather cut my eyes outWas literally the most boring, stagnant and brutish sport I've ever witnessed. I cannot believe that people in this country pay to watch it. The atmosphere in the stadium was awful, with the only group chant was the name of the team followed by 3 claps. Lasted about 2 minutes before people stopped and resumed sitting in silence. I saw a group of people push a pregnant woman over and someone yelling at an Indian security guard and telling him to go back to his own country. At one point I stood up to go to the toilet and got screamed at by the person behind me. It was a truly awful experience all over. Linked up with some soccer fans later on at a pub who took me to a melbourne victory game in Richmond. Was a much better atmosphere, more friendly welcoming people and a nail-biting match that had everyone standing up all game. Everyone was joining in singing and making funny songs. In America we don't do that at our football matches but I wish we did... but the australian game is terrible. Avoid it at all costs.Written 20 January 2023
- cwwbbb90 contributionsGreat Day!!Super fun day! Seeing the racehorses and their backstory was really cool interesting (and scones were amazing!!). The winery and brewery were also very cool…Jess was a great guide as well!! Highly recommend!!Written 10 December 2022
- LamToMeetYou0 contributionsSports, sports and more sports with cold beerTamara was brilliant, couldn’t fault her. We drove around the City in a Luxurious Minivan which was so comfortable compared to the standard ones that are more commonly used. Between each destination we had a lovely in-depth conversation besides sports and beer which she was very knowledgeable in, she’s also knowledgeable in some history of the City itself. It was awesome to see all the Sport Stadiums and Arenas. Hubby really enjoyed tasting all the different beers as beer is his favourite alcohol drink. Happy days!!!Written 21 May 2022
- paulzO3319CZ0 contributionsSports HeavenOur guide Tamara was a wealth of information about all the sports venues we went to and provided information that was of great value. We were a small group and we had a fantastic time when we visited F1 Circuit, Flemington Racecourse & MCG were I was able to go into the change rooms of the Mighty Tigers. Lunch was provided at a nice cafe in Richmond and the tour finished at a Craft brewery in Sth Melbourne. All in all a great day had by all, thank you Tamara and your team.Written 30 March 2021

Andrew was really accommodating and knowledgeable. We did have to do a last minute change for lunch, but that was all taken in stride and easily fixed. Would highly recommend this tour for any sport fanWritten 12 December 2018
- Renners21120 contributionsSimply The BestPicked up on time at designsted point met by Anthony our guide for the tour First stop Flemington Racecourse. Here we started at the 32 hundred meter mark for the Melbourne Cup the biggest event in Australia's sporting calendar Walked the saddling ring met and talked to gardeners doing the preparations for the big day and the magestic beauty of the racecourse Next stop the MCG or as Anthony put it Melbourenians like to save on letters and simply call it the "G" Saw the magnificent Sporting Precinct Walked on the hallowed turf, through the stands, change roooms, the long room, dining rooms, galleries and Bob Menzies famous "Urinal Window" all with the aid of our guide Jim who's knowlege and enthusiasm was 1st class This was followed with an adrenaline filled lap of the Grand Prix track at Albert Park with Anthony at the wheel we reached a hair raising 40kph Throw in the iconic landmarks, places of interest, Fitzroy Gardens etc etc etc Tour finished with lunch at the Channel 7 Cafe at Etihad Stadium Absolutely brilliant experience.......would do it all again in a heartbeat One tour not to be missed in MelbourneWritten 25 September 2018

- dkwishy0 contributionsOutstanding TourMyself and 8 mates visited Melbourne recently for a footy match and incorporated a Melbourne Sports Tour into our schedule. We had a great time...the guide Anthony was full of knowledge about the city and stadiums and combined it nicely with humour to entertain us. We saw everything we wanted to plus more, had a great lunch included and all went away happy. This is great value for money, well organised and every contact with the company was friendly. I highly recommend this company and will use them again without hesitation.Written 18 June 2018
- Peter B0 contributionsPeter BMy wife and I did this tour yesterday and thought it was fantastic. The scones for morning tea at Woodlands Homestead were fabulous. It was wonderful to see the "Living Legends" looking so content in their retirement. Our host Tamara did a fantastic job and made the day for us.Written 10 June 2018
- Steph B0 contributionsExcellant tourWe thorougly enjoyed this tour. Tamara is an excellent tour guide. She is very informative and friendly. We had a lovely morning tea at Living Legends followed by a nice pizza at the winery. Last of all was beer tasting at a brewery. We would recommened this tour. Thanks Tamara for a really nice day out.Written 14 April 2018
- David C0 contributionsSports and beerOur tour with Tamara was excellent. The highlight of the tour was the Melbourne Cricket Ground and though we are American and know nothing about Cricket, it was very interesting. The Flemington Race Course is beautiful with 15,000 rose bushes. The included lunch was very good - you could select from a large number of choices. Our tour ended with a tour of the Stomping Ground brewery and a sampling of 8 different craft beers.Written 10 January 2018
- JG_LGC0 contributionsA hidden gemFor anyone interested in sport this is a "must" whilst visiting Melbourne. Travelling as part of a larger tour group, I was the only one to opt for this tour but I feel that I picked a gem. There were 5 of us on this trip; 3 from UK, 1 each from US & NZ plus the our excellent guide/host Anthony. Right from the outset Anthony made us all welcome and it was obvious that his sporting interest and knowledge wasn't limited to Melbourne or even Australia as he talked confidently about sports (and teams) from each of our own separate Nations! My main interest was to see (in an Ashes year) the Melbourne Cricket Ground and hopefully watch some cricket but that was only part of THIS tour. We visited Flemington (where the Melbourne Cup had recently been run), the F1 track driving through the park as Anthony pointed out each bend and point if interest. We also had some lunch at the Etihad stadium. Our tour of the MCG was with a club member (traits of W.C.Grace!) who had permissions to take us behind the scenes and even out onto the boundary of the pitch ....there was a Sheffield Shield match on! I chose to return (after lunch) to watch the completion of this match whilst others chose to spend time in the Sport's museum or simply be returned to their hotels. I should add that the varied nature of this tour also meant that we saw a lot of Melbourne that I don't think I'd otherwise have seen and Anthony was only to keen to answer questions (+ convey gems if information) on other (non sporting) aspects of Melbourne .... all in all a great day!Written 13 November 2017

My husband and I took this trip as we both enjoy one or two of the sports covered, we really enjoyed the whole day! We were a part of a group of 7 so a small bunch of like minded people although from different parts of the globe. Our tour guide Tamara was just fantastic she was very knowledgeable about all the venues we visited and the sports that took part there also about the local areas. We joined others for guided tours at the MCG and Rod Laver arena both were informative of the history of the venues etc . My personal favourite was the drive around Albert Park, being a F1 fan it made my trip special, especially as they were in process of setting up for the race!
Loved it highly recommended it. Thank you Tamara.

As a Melburnian, the tour was very enjoyable to find out what Melbourne has to offer, as well as other sporting facilities along the route. Tamara was very pleasant, easy to talk with, and informative. The tour is a 'must do' for any sport enthusiast especially the MCG. I also played tennis in a show court to experience the moment. Had a very good day and also enjoyed the lunch!

As I work in the racing industry, my work colleagues were very jealous that I got a tour of Flemington racecourse. Driving round the Formula 1 GP track and visiting the MCG made my day. The only drawback was that the main courts at the Rod Laver arena were closed off due to the fact that the Australian Open had just finished the previous weekend.

Thanks so much for such a thoughtful review! We're vey happy to hear how much you enjoyed your day. Flemington is such an interesting and beautiful place to visit, and completely different to seeing it full of people. We're sorry you weren't able to see the main courts at Rod Laver, it is unfortunately a downside of visiting a live venue. Fortunately it's very rare to have it closed.

Thanks to Tamara we had a fabulous day touring not only the plentiful sports sites across Melbourne but also seeing the city. Tamara was incredibly well informed and had knowledge far beyond expectations about not only the locations but also the marquee champions from years gone by. She is a top notch expert with a gracious demeanor. As American sport fanatics with limited understand of Aussie Rules, cricket, formula one and even horse racing, we were surprisingly engaged from the oldest of us (mid-forties) to our seven year old. Also, of note, our lunch was delicious which is not often the case when lunch is included in a tour.

I’m a total sports nut. I knew I wanted to do this tour in Melbourne. Despite knowing nothing about Australian rules football and cricket (I do love F1 though), I had super high hopes for this tour and it delivered. Anthony was an outstanding guide and answered all of my dumb questions. The tour of the MCG and the museum was fantastic. Melbourne is definitely a passionate sports city!

Apparently the AFL finals were going on the week I had booked. Normally, I'm ok with tour cancellation within reasonable notice... the issue was that I didn't receive this notice until less than 48 hours of when this tour was supposed to happen. I find it highly suspect that they didn't know the AFL games were going on until that a couple days before the event. Not being local it's unlikely a tourist to know such an event would be going on.

My wife and I booked this trip as we are both mad on sport. The trip was really informative and we enjoyed every aspect of the trip. We were the only people booked onto the trip, despite this they still ran the trip which we were delighted about. The tour guide was very easy going and knew all aspects of the trip. He was very accommodating and went out of his way to help us. It was extremely well organised and can’t complain at all about it. If you like sport, do this excursion!

I'm not a big sports fan but I really enjoyed it. Flemington was definitely my favourite part. Our tour guide, Tamara, was great and showed us the course from the horses perspective which was really cool. The lunch was good you won't be hungry afterwards, they definitely fill your plate.

Hi William P,
Thanks for taking the time to review the Morning Sports Lovers Tour. We are sorry you feel you didn't receive value for money, as this is not usually the case with our guests.
We are the only sightseeing operator in Melbourne who offer scheduled tours to Flemington Racecourse, and the experience there is so much more than "walking on the lawns", as we explore the history of the Racecourse, some of the famous participants, and it's transformation for the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Similarly, as we driver through the Melbourne & Olympic Park Precinct, the Grand Prix Circuit, and through inner Melbourne suburbs, we aim to provide a large amount of historical and contemporary information. As we operate small group tours (less than 10 guests per tour), we are also able to talk more specifically to particular items of interest, should we be asked.
We do agree that our Tour Guide(s) and Lunch Venue are excellent.
Although we choose to not discuss our venue partnership arrangements, we do know our pricing is more than competitive with other Day Tours in Melbourne, many of which offer far less by way of inclusions, and far less by way of personalised service.
