      Will remember this forever
The experience was 100%. I’ve fallen in love quicker than I expected with Australia. Had such a warm hug of a tour guide, Misty is magic, a warm hug personified, carrying the most amazing informative stories, and illusions and we never missed a bird or kanga or emu as she made sure we all saw them. Having come solo, I couldn’t have felt more like I had family with me. Very grateful and lucky for the experience. Thank you forever x

      Road trip to remember
Great 3 day road trip with the fabulously entertaining & knowledgeable Janet AKA J-Dog as expert driver & guide. Her expertise meant we usually arrived at landmarks at a different time to the masses of tourist buses and often had the views & spaces to ourselves wherever we stopped off. Loved the latter and less touristy part of the Great Ocean Road & koala spotting along the way. Sadly a wildfire meant missing out on the Grampians but we were well informed by Autopia in advance and had a great detour which included the stunning Blue Lake in Mount Gambia & swimming in blue water in a nearby sinkhole. There were 16 of us on the bus which was l perfect number for travelling camaraderie.

Great tour - can only recommend
Our tour guide Craig was awesome - he took us safely to all spots of the itinerary and some more and his knowledge about the region and history was unbelievable. The group was lovely (age around mid 20s to late 50s) and everyone got along well. Great Tour for solo travellers! There was always a choice between an easier or more challenging walk. The accommodation (shared/basic) was clean and totally fine for the tour. Unfortunately, we couldn't do the programme for the last day (walk to Pinnacle Lookout) due to bushfires but a safe alternative was organised.

      Australian penguin and koalas tour
Excellent Tours, Phillips Island Penguin Parade, and koala sightings were amazing! The only downside was ignorant tourists flashing their photos at the penguins after being repeatedly told no photos because it scares and blinds the small birds at night.

      Great trio but no koalas
We booked on the eco wildlife trip but this was changed to normal Great Ocean Rd trip. Bit disappointed that we didn't see any marsupials. Driver who was our guide worked hard to keep us in track and told us lots of interesting facts and tips about the places we visited. The rainforest walk was magical and 12 Apostles well worth the trip. Could have done without final stop at fast food outlets as this added to return journey. Otherwise a great day

      Incredible Grampian Trip!
Our tour of the Grampians National Park with Aidan was absolutely fantastic! Aidan's expertise and passion for the park shone through as he guided us through its breathtaking landscapes and hidden gems. His knowledge of the flora, fauna, and indigenous history enriched our experience immensely. Aidan's friendly personality and genuine enthusiasm made the tour even more enjoyable. We left feeling inspired and grateful for the opportunity to explore such a beautiful place with such a knowledgeable guide. Thank you, Aidan, for an unforgettable adventure!

Adelaide to Melbourne -So much better n
A small group of us enjoyed a great trip with Janet from Adelaide to Melbourne. Great views and experiences and we enjoyed the peace and quiet that comes with this reverse schedule. You arrive at the major sights out of sync with all the other groups ensuring access and views. The trip is well organised and structured. Janet goes the extra mile taking care of one and all and livening up the trip with anecdotes and jokes. Iro allergies I had no issues or concerns.

The penguin parade was very good, it's great seeing them come in off the beach. One thing to be aware of is you can't take any photos. The rest of the tour was ok, we stopped off in what was basically a deserted town for lunch, the wildlife sanctuary was enjoyable. But it felt like the tour could be condensed into 4 hours rather than the 12 as the rest of the stop offs seemed pointless

It was great to see the penguins at just the right time (at sunset). And I enjoyed seeing the koalas at the Koala Conservatory, but after hearing about the visitors to the wildlife sanctuary, and of all the animals they were able to see (koalas, kangaroos, platypus, and more) I felt like our little trip to see these koalas did not measure up. The rest of the day seemed to be wandering through the countryside wasting time before our 9 pm sunset. Stopping in Cowes for fish and chips was no excitement. I’d suggest that you time this 2 hour trip to Philip Island to coincide with a longer visit to experience the penguin visitor center, possibly eat supper there, and then see the penguins, instead of a 12 hour daylong trip.
PS— the viewing area is right on the beach, so bring a jacket and or a blanket to keep cozy!

Hi Richard, Thanks a lot for sharing your experience on the Phillip Island and Penguin Parade Tour. First of all we appreciate the suggestions on how to improve our tour. The wildlife sanctuary is indeed a great option, however we feel like there would not be enough time to enjoy it to its fullest on a trip that is already quite long. The idea of stopping in Cowes for dinner is to have a break from the long drive and to give our guests the chance to explore a bit of this quaint little town (and have a typical Aussie meal - our famous fish and chips). I'm sorry if the tour did not fully meet your expectations, we hope that you had a great day nevertheless and enjoyed seeing the penguins going home after a hard day out in the ocean :) We look forward to seeing you again on one of our tours some day! Kind regards, Luis

A wonderful chance to get out of the city and see some of the wildlife. The tour is well run and went to schedule. Good job, Vicky, Great opportunity to see koalas in a natural environment at the koala conservation centre. Good choice of places to dine in Cowes followed by an amazing time on the beach watching the penguins come in for the night, would thoroughly recommend.

What an amazing trip. It started with our guide Fiona, who was just great, really informative and got to know everyone personally on the bus. Philip Island will be my highlight of staying in Melbourne, what a special place it is. The wildlife on the Island is amazing and I will never forgot the sight if seeing the little penguins coming out of the sea to their burrows. A trip which was worth every penny x

The main attraction is seeing the penguins just after sunset. The visit to Maru was also enjoyable. Our guide JP was very nice and attentive to the needs of the group. I like that the company supports protecting wildlife and the environment. I thought I’d read in the tour description that we would visit the town or Cowes. I would have much preferred that to the chocolate factory tour or the windy beach.

We very much looked forward to this tour. Originally we were told that hotel pick up was included. We were then told to walk a few blocks to a museum for pick up. Then we were told to walk a few blocks in the other direction to meet at a church. That would have been okay, had it not been pouring rain and the driver was a half hour late, leaving us out in the cold. They had our phone number and email and could have updated us. We had to call them multiple times to check on where the driver was. He showed up with no apology, ironically after driving right past our hotel, where he was supposed to pick us up.

One of the stops on the itinerary was to a Wildlife preserve. It was supposed to include a light lunch. In fact the confirmation email from Autopia Tours asked whether we had dietary requirements. We were never told that they no longer provided lunch so we were forced to eat at the wildlife stop. The menu was not inexpensive, and the two smallest items cost us $33.

We ultimately made a long distance call from New Zealand to the US to inquire why this was the case and Viator, the TripAdvisor partner, and seller of the trip said that lunch was no longer included. We had purchased and paid for the tour in January. Our printouts show both hotel pickup and lunch are included. There were multiple correspondences with Autopia Tours, when they continued to change the meeting spots, and at any point they could have told us of the change. The Viator operator made two phone calls to Autopia and they would only reimburse us $10 each. There was no light lunch for $10 so this was no more than selling me one product and delivering a less, unsatisfactory replacement.

Viator refused to take responsibility saying that Autopia changed their offer. I take the position that I purchased the tour from Viator and that they should have honored the lunch or reimbursed a respectable amount, since I paid Viator for the lunch and I paid the Wildlife preserve for the lunch.

Why would I ever do business with thieves again?

    PS: The Penguins were adorable.

Hi, and thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Like you, we are also disappointed that your experience with us did not meet with your expectations. Whilst we conduct pickups from several locations around the Melbourne CBD and St Kilda areas, it is impossible to facilitate collections from all of the 350 hotels across the city. As a matter of convenience, we always look to direct our guests to the closest pickup location to their accommodation. Without knowing your booking details, we are unable to further investigate the circumstances of your tour pickup. Changes to our 1-Day Phillip Island Tour from April 1st, 2019 have been passed on to our partners, so I am not sure of the origin of the misunderstanding regarding the current tour inclusions. Whilst labelling us as 'thieves' in your feedback is a very strong accusation, I invite you to contact us directly so we can work through these issues to your satisfaction.

Charlie from Autopia was a fantastic guide. His guided tour was very personalized. He remembered all the names of the tourists in his bus. His commentary was very clear and detailed throughout the trip. If you need a guide from Autopia, ask for him, Charlie, the musician.
