    Wonderful experience
Was a terrific tour- got to learn lots about Melbourne despite being a Victorian and visiting Melbourne several times each year. San was or guide, he is incredibly knowledgeable and shared many fascinating details throughout the tour. Highly recommend whether you are from overseas or a local wanting to learn a bit more about Melbourne, street art and some of the arcades!

A joy for Phyrne Fisher fans
Miss Fisher Murder Mystery Tour. Great tour and would recommend for Phyrne Fisher fans. Kathy's 'behind the scenes' insights on the Phyrne Fisher TV series were informative and entertaining. Also a great way to appreciate the architecture from the late 19th century to the 1920's and how Melbourne grew as a city. A tour for both domestic and international travelers alike.

The Goss behind the making of Miss Fisher Murder mysteries
Miss Fisher M M tour Kathy D indeed brought to life the scenes of many inner Melbourne locations of the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries series set in the 1920’s. Kathy combined the characters, their real lives too, connections with events and personalities of the time with highlights of the daring entrepreneurs of fashion, art, and architecture and the wizardry behind filmmaking! This is my second tour with Mel Tours, so truly recommend them.

    A great evening
Great evening - like being with old friends. Met our tour guide Sam who was very punctual and organized. A small group so very easy to chat and make decisions on which bar to have a drink at. Sam was knowledgeable and shared insights and stories. Bars were great, some we knew and others we would never have found on our own. We were able to stop at some and take a peek at others. Well worth out time and a good evening.

Wonderful insight into the making of the Miss Fisher TV series
We went with two friends on the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Tour and it was just wonderful. Kathy, our guide, was so knowledgeable, with plenty of fun facts and great 'movie shots' at various locations. We love the books and series and it was great to see some of them 'come alive' in Kathy's explanations, etc. Shame that we ran out of time (we had a deadline to return to our ship 😣😥, which meant that we had to rush our time in the Gin Palace. Highly recommend this tour.

If you are a local you must do this tour!
Kathy took us on such a great tour of the Hidden bars in Melbourne. She just went with the flow. If we wanted to stop and have an extra drink somewhere she was happy to oblige. It was such a great night and as a Melbournian I now know somewhere cool to go for a drink in the city!

The best tour to find the hidden gems of Melbourne.
We had the best time being introduced to the hidden bars of Melbourne. We live in Melbourne and felt like a tourist in our own town. San was the best guide so knowledgeable about Melbourne and pointed many things out to us. Can’t wait to do another tour with MELTours.

Great experience! Want to go back for more!
We had a great time! We learned so much not only about the architecture of Melbourne but also it's history. The tour guide gave great insights about the WHY behind the different architectural designs we saw that really piqued our interest. He also shared local tidbits about good places to eat, drink, and shop along the way.

My parents were visiting from overseas, and my girlfriend and I took them on the laneway tour to learn about some of Melbourne's history.

Unfortunately the tour was punctuated with racist and ignorant remarks from our guide about the traditional custodians of the Melbourne area.

This was really awful to listen to and upsetting to think about how many tourists would go away from this experience having heard this such a blatantly incorrect, racist and ignorant version of the city's history.

Would not recommend using this company.

Hi Jesper We are devastated to read this review and really saddened by the knowledge that this was your interpretation of the information that you received about Australia’s Indigenous people during your tour last December. Our company has been running tours in Melbourne for over 12 years and has never been accused of denigrating in any way the first people of this continent. Our team values and respects all people who have contributed to the rich, diverse history of Melbourne, especially the traditional owners of the land, the Wurundjeri tribe of the Kulin Nation, on which Melbourne sits. Please understand that racism is something we do not tolerate as a company. As this review is very distressing, we would really appreciate you giving us further details as to exactly what our guide said that you found offensive. Please contact us at info@meltours.com.au so we can look into this further. Kind regards, The MELTours Team

Today we had the pleasure of taking this tour with our guide San. We heard all about how Melbourne was "settled" and learnt the stories of the people the main streets were named after. San escorted us around all the groovy lanes, arcades and significant buildings, explaining their history. San is a really knowledgeable guy who freely shared his love of history, sport and music with us. The coffee and macaron stop was a bonus and San pointed out cool bars and restaurants we might get back too. Book with San - you won't be disappointed.

We contacted Kathy at very short notice and she kindly agreed to take us on a Laneways Tour the next morning - our last day in Melbourne.
Kathy has an incredible wealth of knowledge about Melbourne, both historical and present day. We had an enthralling and very interesting tour with Kathy pointing out features and hidden gems that we would have never have found otherwise. The tour was well paced with a coffee break mid way in a relaxing coffee house.
Above all else Kathy is a lovely, friendly lady and we would highly recommend her and MELTours to anyone wanting to learn more about this vibrant city.

My partner and I recently attended the Laneways Tour run by Kathy. I'm a Melbourne local and my partner is from Germany. We absolutely loved this tour and I strongly encourage locals and foreigners alike to take part. We learnt a huge amount about the city, including things I walk past on a daily basis and would have truly never noticed. Kathy is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in running all of the tours, so she is a wealth of information if you have questions. We can't recommend this tour highly enough!

I took my two adult daughters for a couple of days in Melbourne and booked us into this tour. Kathy the tour guide was brilliant, she had so much experience and a excellent knowledge of history of Melbourne, of the stories of the laneways and the art.
I have been on tours over many years in London, Florence, Paris, New York, Chicago, and realised I know more about those places than I do to those places close to home. It is wonderful to know a lot more of Melbourne by walking and seeing and getting shown places - hidden gems, we would have never known about except for Kathy taking us there.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it.

Thank you Kathy for taking my husband and I on this tour last week. Even though the weather was a little freezing the warmth of Kathy made us hanging onto every word. Plus it was a bonus spending the morning with the other guests.
My most amazing fact taken away from this tour was about Joan’s lift. I will never complain about my work again!!
Thanks for the fun tour.

My daughter and I did the Laneways of Melbourne Walking Tour with Kathy on 30 March 2022. It was excellent.

It wasn’t just looking at laneway after laneway but also included info on the history/layout of Melbourne and how that contributed to the laneways being created originally. We also looked at some of the beautiful old arcades, stopped for coffee at an amazing cafe and saw so many great little shops and cafes/restaurants along the way. We saw and learnt about things we normally would have just walked past.

Kathy was very knowledgeable and took the tour at a great pace. I would highly recommend this walking tour.

We had a wonderful 3 hours with Kathy as our guide on this walking tour. She is so knowledgeable and her enthusiasm for the city of Melbourne and its amazing laneways made for a great experience where we got to know so much more about the history and culture of our own city. It was amazing to see some of the hidden gems within the buildings and on their exteriors, as well as the street art for which Melbourne is renowned. It has given me a much greater appreciation of our great city.
I would recommend this tour to visitors and locals alike.
