From the moment we were picked up, Wheels' infectious enthusiasm and passion for the region was clear. His knowledge was incredible - he knew all the best spots, hidden gems, and fascinating facts about the area's history and wildlife. Wheels was not only a fantastic driver, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey, but also a top-notch guide who kept us entertained with stories and jokes throughout the day. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time, offering to take photos, suggesting the best viewpoints, and even providing local tips for the rest of our stay. - marcwN376QH0 contributionsAuthentic experience of Australias wildlifeThe tour was amazing and we saw everything we were promised and more. Our tour guide Janet did a great job showing us around all the places and telling us about them. Thanks to the three day setting and her knowledge as a local, we had most places for ourselves. Therefore, everyone could experience most places in their own pace, since we could move around freely. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants an authentic experience of the highlights the countryside around Melbourne has to offer.Written 4 December 2024

- chloetB1577IQ0 contributionsA magical day at the GrampiansCraig and Barry were amazing and made my trip to the Grampians magical. Craig has an abundance of knowledge regarding the nature and culture of the Grampians. Also his care for his customers was at a high standard regarding water and travel sickness techniques. He made a stop at a cave to see some ancient Aboriginal art which I had asked about. Really appreciated that bonus stop and would highly recommended traveling with Craig and Barry the platypus. Thank you so much!Written 3 December 2024

- walterb6770 contributionsIncredible visit to the Phillip Island Penguin ParadeMy wife and I went on this tour on 3 December. Fiona was a fantastic guide and provided a lot of information about each of our stops. We went to the koala conservation center and saw a number of koalas but also saw an echidna rooting around for ants. What a bonus. We then stopped at the Nobbies to see some penguin burrows and hundreds of sea gulls. Beautiful but really, really windy. Last stop was the penguin parade. On the drive to the penguins we saw a bunch of wallabies. As for the parade itself it was incredible. Must have seen 500-600 little blue penguins. Fiona took us around before going to the stands so we could see penguins coming out of their burrows and got some pictures. Penguin Plus was certainly worth it as the stands are on the route where most of the penguins go. Definitely an amazing tour. I highly recommend this tour and especially Fiona as a tour guide.Written 3 December 2024

- meganwO9640WO0 contributionsMemorable experience made better by the tour guide. The great ocean road tour with Janet was amazing we did many different things from hikes to spotting koalas and visiting points of interest. Janet left us with enough time at each place so we didn’t feel rushed and were really able to take in the scenery. She was incredibly knowledgeable and always tried to incite fun even on the bus during the longer journeys. Would definitely recommend for future travellers.Written 2 December 2024
- charliesT9746PE0 contributionsBest group tour EVERThis has been the highlight of my whole trip in Australia. Janet, our tour guide, was fabulous, she was so knowledgeable and always got her timings perfectly so we had a lot of the spots to ourselves before other tour companies came along. The food on the tour was lovely and Janet’s BBQ on the last night was yummy! The accommodation is clean and comfortable, I would recommend this trip to everyone, young and old!Written 2 December 2024

Trip went on timely manner and the weather was ok. Simply cold, in the evening, when the penguins come, and some people did not bring enough warm clothes.
On the way, we also saw koala, and some seagulls. That was cool.
For the minuses, there was not enough tome to visit koala park and study the exhibition The driver made us run to the bus. On next stop, he made us scared that bus would leave without the latecomers. I switched on the roaming in my phone for couple hours then, just in case, which costed me some extra 60 $.
And, it was forbidden to take photos of the penguins. There were cute, but if you need photo, it is enough to visit their website. For free.

Hi Agnieszka,
Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it.
Sorry to hear the Phillip Island tour didn't meet your expectations.
Unfortunately as this is a very long day trip, we can only have a limited time at each stop, otherwise we would only be back in Melbourne after 1am, which would not please most passengers (furthermore, we do have to take into account the driver's fatigue management issues). I do understand it may seem too short a visit at the Koala Conservation Centre as they are adorable creatures, however we must stick to the schedule.
Regarding photos at the Penguin Parade, this is beyond our control as it is a decision by the Phillip Island National Park authority, and it aims to ensure that the penguins are not disturbed by any lights as they are photosensitive. Thanks to these measures they keep coming back day after day :)
We hope to see you again on one of our tours, and do not hesitate to give us a call if you would like to further discuss your experience.
Kind regards,
Luis

The trip was amazing!! I really enjoyed the view from lunch at the town, the view from the Nobs, watching koalas in the wild and the Penguin Parade at dusk. Most of all, our tour guide Fiona made us feel very welcome, and her insider tips as well as her knowledge on wildlife were immensely useful in making full use of our time :) I would highly recommend this as a day itinerary as Phillip island is really beautiful, and having Fiona as our driver and guide was the best blessing! :) no regrets on spending a day outside Melbourne on this trip 💯 P.S: the tour runs really punctually too

We took the Phillip Island Penguin and Koala Highlights tour today with our driver/guide Daniel. He was both knowledgeable and entertaining while bringing his passion for the tour and the creatures and lands he talked about in a captivating manner. He took care of guests like each was on a private tour! We felt included, respected, and completely satisfied with our experience. For a long day, it went by too quickly!

It was amazing, just hope we had more time during lunch break to explore Philip Island (which could mean earlier departure). Fiona was amazing, she gave us tips on where to sit to watch the penguins and where's the wind direction.
We get to see hundreds of penguin, don't sit by the beach for long. Walk around and you can see them walking. We saw Koalas too although they were sleeping. Please wear comfortable warm clothing if you go during winter and waterproof jackets/raincoats - in case it rains.
For Muslims, there's halal kebab option if your tour stop at Cowes town. We arrived at Melbourne CBD at about 830pm.
Please dont take photos after sunset guys and follow the rules, it's for the penguin's safety else you mjght hurt their eyes.

Fiona took us on an animal-sightseeing adventure I’ll never soon forget. Che is truly sunshine in human form and a wealth of knowledge.
The koala habitat was absolutely surprising. We were less than a meter away, witnessing the cuddly, little koalas nuzzle down in their naps, snack on eucalyptus and even climb about looking for their new perch.
As we drive across the islands to dinner and the parade, Fiona’s sharp eyes helped us located Wallabies all emerging for dinner, as the bounded across the grasslands.
Fiona’s true knowledge showed at the parade of penguins though, where she led us away from the crowds and into witnessing the waddling colony in their more intimate environments. It’s was like Fiona just knew where their dens were and we were able to see their wobbles and stretches in blue, before the changing of the guards.

Joe’s Bus is the best! Sis treated me to the Phillip’s Island tour for my birthday, and it was sweet! We saw koalas, wallabys, and so many brave little penguins emerging from the sea after sunset to reunite with their babies in their burrows. Lnew exactly where to go on the platform for the best views because Joe told us the best viewing spots! Super special experience, and one that I will remember! Joe is the best - good disposition, tons of knowledge downloaded to us over a few hours with just right humor, and he even charged up my iPhone between stops to make sure I had enough juice to record this fabulous day!

Myself and my partner did a brilliant tour to Philip Island. We really enjoyed the tour and were blown away by the natural beauty of Philip Island. We really enjoyed the stops at the koala reserve and seeing the beautiful tiny joeys! The penguin parade was a magical experience, we saw hundreds of fairy penguins, some close enough to touch! Our guide, Craig, was friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. I would highly recommend this tour as a great day out from Melbourne for all ages.

Enjoyed our trip to Philip Island under the great guidance of Craig (and Barry). We were promptly picked up by Craig at the Immigration Centre.
After a pit stop along the way (eat fish and chips) on the way to Philip Island. First go to the Koala park to spot and photograph Koalas. Look carefully (high in the trees) and you will find them.
The next stop we were able to spot wallabies. We were lucky and also saw a platypus.
The dessert was the arrival of the penguins on the beach. We were a little less lucky in terms of numbers. We read reviews about hundreds of penguins but we only saw a few dozen.
Walking back along the boardwalk still paid off a lot. We ended up seeing quite a few penguins looking for their home.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that Craig told us a lot about animals and fauna with a good sense of humor. And also thanks to Barry who provided the necessary protection ;-)

Hi there,
Thanks so much for leaving a review!
We are sorry you didn't get to see so many Penguins. Unfortunately, we sadly cannot guarentee numbers, it can fluctuate from day to day.
Glad to hear to still had a great time on tour :)

This was a great fun tour well worth doing.
The koala conservation centre was great and we saw lots of Koalas.
The penguin parade was the highlight of the day and we were able to see the blue penguins in their burrows and see the returning penguins coming out of the sea and then waddling up the pathway . Such fun and the sounds of the penguins calling to each other to guide them back together was amazing.
Fiona our tour guide was excellent, very informative and friendly, giving so much great information and tips, both on the different parts of the tour and tips on where to go and things to do in Melbourne.
Comfortable bus, on time and above and beyond expectations.
We thoroughly recommend this trip and this company.
