We'll show you the best that Melbourne has to offer... from the Yarra River with its cruises, heaving barge bars with an Ibitha theme... even little boats you can drive yourself. We'll carry on to some of Melbourne's traditional "sights" like the Shrine of Remembrance, beautiful public gardens, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and spectacular Rod Laver Arena... but we'll also show you the cool local neighborhoods that many tourists never see... the rooftop bars, street art, hidden laneways and more.

The Melbourne by Bike -tour was excellent way to get a true feeling of Melbourne.
The Melbourne by Bike -tour was excellent way to get a true feeling of Melbourne. The content, functionality and atmosphere of the tour was great. With our professional guide, we were able to visit by bikes, besides several known sights, many outstanding places and views out of the city center and hear stories that are far beyond from any other tourist sightseeings. The tour was well planned and performed. It was +32C hot sunny day and our guide took good care that we stopped also to drink and refresh flexibly. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and coffee in real local surroundings. The bicycles (both normal and electric ones) were very easy to ride, also for our twelve year old child. The guide was really good cyclist and took good care of the security of the group :-) I warmly recommend to get to know the city with MELBOURNE BY BIKE melbournebybike.com

I would highly recommend this tour and specifically Craig.
Craig is amazing. This is so much more than a bike ride around Melbourne. Craig has extensive knowledge of history, politics, sports and current events including efforts to honor the aboriginal population. He made us feel like family with great stories at each stop.

Great tour guide. We covered a lot of areas within the city centre and beyond. Ride was at an easy pace and mostly uses cycle lanes.

      Great fun tour!
Such a great tour! Phillip was amazing and tailored the tour to whatever we wanted, my teenage boys loved getting around Melbourne by bike and learning facts, seeing all the sporting venues, laneways, markets etc... Great way to spend a day!

      Excellent tour!
Our tour of Melbourne with Paul was fantastic! We loved that he tailored the ride to what we were interested in seeing. The pace was just right - nothing too difficult but enough to make us feel like we got in some exercise while seeing the sights. Paul was an excellent tour guide. We thoroughly enjoyed the history, conversations, and coffee stop. Would highly recommend!

      A great family day
We had a great day with our your guide Craig. This was a great way for our two families to see the sights of Melbourne, particularly the sporting precinct which we were interested in. It really suited our group with ages from 10 to 49. Murray was also very accommodating in make sure that he could organise a tour in our time frame. Highly recommend this.

      You’ll love it
Thank you Tom for a very enjoyable tour of Melbourne, especially the back streets of Fitzroy and Carlton, with lunch at Brunettis. We loved riding through Uni of Melbourne too. The e-bikes are so worth it for the sheer joy of riding them but there are very few hills on the tour so regular bikes would be fine. Best way to see Melbourne in four hours!

Great Way to Orient Yourself to Melbourne!
We had a fabulous city bike tour with Melbourne by Bike. Our guide, David Rush, was a fount of knowledge. We had lively Q & A about Australian history, culture and flora and fauna. We got an idea of the layout of the city and stopped to admire many of the city’s landmarks. For the most part we cycled on separated paths or bike lanes and felt safe at all times. The bicycles were fairly new and well maintained. All in all a great way to orient yourself to Melbourne and get some exercise while doing so!

Best way to see the city
A fantastic way to get a feel for the city. Philip was great - very knowledgable with local insights. The bike ride itself is easy going and the bikes are comfortable and easy to ride. Plenty of stops and photo opportunities. A great way to see the city and also meet people from other places.

An excellent way to see a lot of the city. Our guide Leanne was excellent. She took great care of us on the bikes and was extremely knowledgeable about the city. As we were the only people who turned up on what was a cool and showery day we had the luxury of being able to have some say in where we went and what we saw.
We started out in the Docklands area and headed around the outskirts of the city, visiting Queen Victoria market, the suburbs of Carlton, Fitzroy and East Melbourne stopping frequently to look at interesting buildings, street art or just to cover a bit of history of Melbourne.
After a delicious lunch we cycled round past the MCG & Tennis arenas and then crossed the river to the Botanical Gardens where we had to dismount and walk (and the sun finally came out!).
We finished our tour along the Southbank and back towards Docklands to drop off the bikes.
I’d thoroughly recommend a cycle tour for getting to see parts of the city off the regular tourist routes.
I’d also thoroughly recommend Leanne as a guide.
Thank you for an excellent day out.

Wow! Great day out and about Melbourne . We saw so much and our guide was so helpful and knowledgeable . We learned about the history and saw many old and new buildings and unique alleyways . Your trip can be tailored to your interest . Leanne went above and beyond with guidance for our activities after the ride . I would not attempt this ride on my own as there was a lot of traffic and experience is needed to travel the city by bike . Lunch was delicious! Thank you !

We went on a 4ish hour bike ride/tour with Murray with Melbourne By Bike. He gave us a good ride around the city and showed us some of the prominent landmarks as well as gave us a history of some of the past and present historical events in Melbourne including the music, theatre, shopping, eating and sports venues in the City. Murray even provided a demonstration of how to play Australian Football (different rules from football, soccer or rugby).

Melbourne By Bike tours are smaller (and thus a little more expensive) than other bike tour operators in the city, but it worked out because we spent more time seeing sites and less time waiting for red lights or for the back end of the bike tour to catch up (as can sometimes be the case with larger bike tours). We all stopped for lunch and have a bite to eat and chat before heading back to the shop.

Murray followed up the tour with an email with a nice collection of photos that he took of us during the day, some information about the sites that we saw and a whole list of good places to eat and drink at around the city. Although we took the tour on our last day in Melbourne, I'd definitively recommend taking the tour at the beginning of your stay to get a close up view of the city and develop some ideas on what activities you might want to do or places to eat at during your stay in Melbourne. The bike tour was a great way to see the city up close and learn about it from a local.

I have done many bike tours all over the world, but unfortunately I was kind of disappointed.
We booked the tour to learn more about the highlights of Melbourne and it’s history. The tourguide was a little bit rusty because of covid, so I feel like I haven’t learned about Melbourne and its fun facts.
He did tell us where we could do some free tours afterwards.
Our guide also asked us if we wanted him to tell us more about anything. But because of the fact we didn’t know anything about the city to start with we couldn’t really answer that question. We did say that we already knew about Melbourne nightlife and wanted to learn more about it’s daylife. However I feel like we stopped to see every bar in the CBD.

The tourguide was also cycling really fast. Because of that we couldn’t enjoy the city as much as we wanted to and there wasn’t any time to take pictures. To be fair, we didn’t tell this to our guide at the time.

It was also kind of strange that we entered some places (inside a mall and infront of the parliament building) where bikes were not allowed.

Lunch was tapas and didn’t include drinks (only the water bottle we got at the beginning of the tour and free tap water from the restaurant). We got 1 dish each, so we still had to eat lunch afterwards.

The tour was okay, but not great. So in my opinion it wasn’t worth the $120 each.

If you want to see lots of hotspots this is the tour for you. If you want to know more about Melbourne, its highlights and fun facts, I don’t recommend this tour.

Had a great day on the bikes, our tour guide (David) ended up giving us extra time as he took us around Melbourne. Very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Well worth doing at the start of a visit/holiday to Melbourne. It provides an understanding of the city, where to go for food, drink entertainment and sport etc. bikes/helmets were in good condition also.

This tour is a great way to learn the city within very short time. Our guide Leanne is fantastic. She knows the city well and points out the best location for photos and selfies. She also makes sure no one is left alone or unattended. This tour is both fun and educational. I highly recommend it.

    The highlight of our trip!

We did this ride the first day of our Melbourne trip and it gave us a wonderful overview of the city’s highlights including lane-ways, art galleries, botanical gardens, parks, sport stadiums, Southbank, Docklands and lunch at the Queen Victoria markets. Visiting the trendy nearby suburbia streets with cool cafes and shops gave us direction in new areas in Melbourne and was the teenagers’ favorite.

Overall we had a much better understanding of how the city fits together and what we would like to explore in the subsequent days.

We all loved being active whilst exploring. Murray, our guide, was friendly and knowledgeable whilst keeping a good read on an appropriate pace for our group. The trip was over 4.5 hours but as Melbourne is flat, it wasn’t onerous. Murray also took lots of great family photos with his phone that he then sent to us.

We think this is a must for visitors to Melbourne and will highly recommend it to our friends and family! Luckily friends recommended it to us.

Geoff was very generous with his local knowledge and his time. He was professional, friendly and considerate. He made sure we understood the traffic rules and I always felt safe. I highly recommend this tour to all first time visitors to Melbourne, no matter your fitness level (it’s quite a flat city). It was the perfect way to see so many neighborhoods in the city and to learn about its history, present day and future. He also sent us pictures and our bike route afterward, which was a nice touch. Thank you Geoff!

A really enjoyable tour experience! Our guide was incredible, making the whole adventure a blast. We got to explore fascinating art and learn about Melbourne’s captivating history, which truly explains why it’s one of Australia’s best cities.

Leanne, our guide, was phenomenal. She personalized the tour according to our interests, taking the time to showcase the city’s charm and all its hidden gems. It was a leisurely-paced tour spanning about 14 miles, perfect for a fun and relaxed day out. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging exploration of Melbourne!
