        Breathtaking views; awesome guide
We had a great experience with Sarah, our tour guide, on The Great Ocean Road tour. She managed the group and timing with great care and skill and was extremely knowledgeable. She kept us informed throughout the day on timing, stops, sights, etc so that we could plan accordingly - essential and most appreciated on such a long days’ journey. She also set the tone for a very pleasant day with 9 strangers! The Ocean Road is breathtaking. California meets Hawaii meets Ireland! I recommend this tour with Oceania. The bus was comfortable and clean. Stops were well timed. And the smaller bus/group made it much easier to navigate and enjoy the busy route! Twelve hours of traveling makes for a long day and all of these factors contributed to a great experience. Many thanks to Sarah for making it a day well spent!!

Cruise ship SNAFU but not the fault of Oceania Tours
Can only review the Moonlit Sanctuary portion of the tour, because our cruise ship was unforgivably (2 HOURS !!!) late in letting passengers off the ship at Port Melbourne, causing my group to miss the tour pick-up in Melbourne CBD. After reaching the Oceania Tours office via Whatsapp (luckily, they were very responsive during that morning emergency), I decided to pay for a very expensive Uber ride from Port Melbourne to the Moonlit Sanctuary in Pearcedale and meet with our tour group there. NOTE: Now I understand why most tour companies like Oceania doesn't want to pick up cruise guests at Port Melbourne. With mostly 1-lane streets from the cruise terminal, it took our Uber driver about 30-45 minutes to finally reach the highway! (The city of Melbourne needs to make Port Melbourne more accessible for tour buses.) As a result of the cruise ship delay, I completely missed the first half of the tour, which included Melbourne CBD and the Brighton Bathing Beach Boxes at Dendy Street Beach. So I cannot comment on that part of the tour. The Moonlit Sanctuary half of the tour was tremendous fun and the highlight of my short day in Melbourne. Our guide Sarah was very informative about the animals and has a working relationship with the employees there, so we were allowed to squeeze into the 10:00 koala experience (although it was technically fully booked). Sarah also was the driver of the tour group, and the van ride back to Melbourne was nicely air-conditioned and safe. I am ultimately recommending this tour because it's one of the few that takes guests to both the Moonlit Sanctuary (the best place in my Australia east coast trip to meet koalas and kangaroos up close and outside of cages) and the Brighton Bathing Beach Boxes. I also thank Oceania Tours and Safaris for being so responsive on Whatsapp during a crisis situation. (And the chances that your cruise is 2 hours late should be rare, so normally you should have enough time to hire a taxi or Uber from Port Melbourne to the pick-up location.)

Amazing Day on the Great Ocean Road!
We had a wonderful tour today - March 11 with Sarah! She was amazing! Her knowledge of the flora and fauna and the Great Ocean Road is fabulous! She took us to a small street where we saw Koalas and on the way home she found us a place to view some kangaroos!! The Ocean Road stops were exciting and beautiful! I would highly recommend this tour! Everything and more than we expected!

A great way to see the Great Ocean Road
A full day out, well organised with plenty of variety including kangaroo and koala spotting, a walk at Maits Rainforest and culminating at The Twelve Apostles. If you haven’t got a car, this is a great way to see the beautiful coastline which is a little reminiscent of the Big Sur in California. A special mention to our excellent guide Adam for making the tour so enjoyable.

Amazing day on the Great Ocean Road Tour
We had an amazing tour the Great Ocean Road was breathtaking. Our guide was on time and extremely polite and helpful. We were fully informed as to what to expect throughout the day. We made lots of stops that weren’t part of the itinerary. We really enjoyed the secret place that Ron took us to look for koalas. Lunch was at Apollo bay and we had some great recommendations from Ron for lunch. The 12 apostles and loch ard gorge were amazing sights. Our stop at gorge chocolates on the way back to Melbourne was another stop that wasn’t part of the itinerary, we got to feed the alpacas and the aroma inside the shop was .. I was in chocolate heaven. We thoroughly enjoyed the day even though it was a long day and over 500kms return.

Long Day But Worth the Effort
Our tour of the great ocean road was a good experience overall. Even though the weather was cold, windy and light rain (not anyone’s fault) the scenery was still spectacular and the “not” 12 apostles was the highlight of the trip. Amazing views. We also stopped along the way to the apostles to see koalas in the trees along the road. Compared to guides we have had on other tours on this trip, Ron was more of a driver (a competent one for sure) rather than a guide. When he did provide information he was knowledgeable and articulate and had a sense of humor but his contributions were less than what we have experienced on other tours. Given that this is already a very long day, more narration and interaction with the passengers would have helped. I looked through most of the reviews and did not see a single mention of Ron. That makes me wonder if he is a regular guide or subbing in for someone. Regardless, he could have been more enthusiastic and engaging. We did have one anxious moment when the van wouldn’t start after lunch because it was not fully in park or neutral. Eventually Ron got it going and we were on our way. By virtue of being the last to be picked up we were relegated to the back row of the van and this made for a noisy and bumpy ride, particularly on the way back to Melbourne. All in all this is a very worthwhile tour but be prepared for a lot of seat time.

        Wonderful Day With Fred
Wonderful trip with our lively, informative, driver Fred. Beautiful beaches, rock formations, and countryside. Long day but well worth it to see all, including koalas and kangaroos, that is in that area.

Amazing days with two great tour guides!
Amazing experience. Two very long days but definitely the best way to see so much of the area. Dandy was our tour guide for the Great Ocean Road day and we learned more about the history of Australia than we ever expected. Sharing stories of growing up in the area made this a real personal experience and with such a small group Dandy was really able to make sure we were all getting what we wanted out of the day. I don't need to speak about the actual stops and scenery, I can assure you you will not be disappointed. The second day on our Phillip Island excursion we had Travis as our tour guide. His relationship with the animals was priceless. From Moonlit Sanctuary to Philip Island, he really knows what he's talking about. The itinerary's on both of these days are amazing and very inclusive-but the tour guides BOTH really made all the difference. Couldn't have asked for more!

        Great wildlife and relaxation experience!
We had a fantastic time on this trip with two great guides, Kevin and Gary. Kevin picked us up and proceeded to drive us out the eastern peninsula of Melbourne to Moonlit Sanctuary. Along the way he gave us great information about Australian life, culture and sports, especially Australian Rules Football, his passion. At the Sanctuary, he led us around pointing out the various opportunities to interact with the wildlife. He also provided us with grain to feed the kangaroos and wallabies. The sanctuary was outstanding. My wife and I had had encounters with local wildlife at two previous tours in New Zealand and Tasmania, but this was by far the best: so many kangaroos, wallabies, birds, dingoes, and koalas. The Moonlit Sanctuary and Kevin’s directions made for an amazing visit. Gary then picked us up and took us to Peninsula Hot Springs. My wife and I expected, hot springs like we had experienced in Iceland and Japan and were surprised that this was a resort style spa. After adjusting our expectations, we relaxed and enjoyed the great amenities at the spa. All we needed to bring was our bathing suits, they provided bathrobes and towels. Gary stayed with us, and we had great conversations about Australian culture and activities. Bonnie, my wife is an anthropologist, and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with Gary. Be prepared for long drive times to get out the peninsula to both places. We loved our exploration and encounters with the Australian wildlife and were happy to be able to relax and soak on our last full day in Australia. We highly recommend this Oceania Tours & Safaris experience.

        Interesting tour Great Ocean Road
Collected by Adam our driver and tour guide for the 11 hour trip. It’s a long day in the van but Adam made it interesting with facts about the area and stops along the way including a chocolate factory, Apollo bay, 12 Apostles and loch ard gorge. Met so great people on the bus and made the day special. Recommended

An amazing day while in Melbourne
My family took the private tour of Phillip Island and had an amazing day. The tour guide was so knowledgeable about Melbourne, the Moonlight Sanctuary and Phillip Island. He had many interesting stories about all the places we visited and was super accommodating. Our guide for the day, Fred G., had so much energy and engaging with describing the sites and experiences of the tour. No matter how much you read or have it explained to you, the Penguin Parade is an amazing event to watch and experience.

Small group tour with Sam to Phillip Island starting at 1pm. Good logistics, well organised with plenty of time in each place. First stop at Moonlit Sanctuary was excellent. We had the chance to take photos with koalas. We saw a wombat, Tasmanian devil, kangaroos, wallabies and kookaburras. Sam provided food to feed kangaroos so we could see them up close.

At Phillip Island we had time to eat dinner at their quick service restaurant before taking our seats at the penguin viewing platform ( we paid for penguin plus). Oceania Tours provided insulated cushions which helped keep us warm on the decking. The delightful penguins came into shore at 18:20, waddling up the slope in small groups.

The mini bus for 10 is a little snug but preferred a smaller group post-COVID.

This trip was the most memorable experience of our trip to Melbourne.

I can only recommend booking the Penguin Parade Plus E. There you sit directly on the beach section where the penguins come out of the water. The other places are much further away. Despite 24 degrees during the day, the wind was very cool in the evening - so pack a wind jacket and an extra sweater or a hat! You could also have booked the "underground" option. There you sit behind glass. Our guide also provided us with insulated seat cushions.
The spots before were also worth seeing. The Moonlit Sanctuary was a positive surprise. It was nicely laid out and we were able to feed wallabies and kangaroos (food was provided). I would have needed more time at "The Nobbies". There were no sea lions there, but there were lots of seagulls.
Our guide gave us good tips for the meal break. In general, Kevin told us lots of interesting and entertaining things about the area on the trip. On the way back at around 10 p.m. he let us all doze. 😉 Apart from the cold wind everything was perfect and the penguins were just cute.

We recently booked the Phillip Island tour as part of our recent holiday in Australia, and would definitely recommend the outing. Our tour guide Travis was the perfect host, and his passion for animals and pride in Australia contributed to an overall excellent experience.

With respect to the Phillip Island penguin parade, I recommend splurging and going for the underground viewing experience. Definitely worth the money.

Great experience and amazing memory created.
The tour was brilliantly put together, and a big thank you to our tour guide Travis (you were brilliant) as it takes a couple hours to get to Phillip Island, on the way you stop off at a wildlife sanctuary and get to see some amazing animals (brilliant commentary from Travis, he knows a lot about these animals and really gave us the best experience), you get to stop off a look out point (which we were lucky enough to see a penguin in there burrows) all before heading to the penguin viewing points. Would highly recommend upgrading to penguin plus, don't risk leaving it until you get there as they sell out, you have the option to add this when booking, you get a much better view of the penguins coming up from the beach and along the board walk, its so worth the extra you pay.
Overall, brilliant trip and would certainly do it again, don't hesitate to book, something you will remember forever.

Itinerary was fantastic! The itinerary made the trip. Highly recommend this tour.
Our guide, Sam, was a bit vague on many of the stops. We had to ask what time to be back to the bus at almost every stop, he would give directions with his back to us and he would point and tell us to go there while he was sitting in the drivers seat of the bus where most of us could not see him. The microphone on the bus did not work properly and it was difficult to hear when Sam did talk.
We received very little information about the area and the places we were stopping. His narratives while driving were quite sparse.
The driving was quite erratic and at times seemed unsafe. The speed for the conditions of the roads did not always seem appropriate.

This is a unique way of witnessing the extraordinary nightly onshore landing of hundreds of Little Penguins as they return to their burrows. The trip included ‘Penguin Plus’ access at the Nature Park which basically gets you a little closer to the action.
Whilst the penguins are the indisputable stars of the show, the tour also included a stop off en route at the Moonlit Animal Sanctuary where you’re able to feed wallabies and see koalas and other Australian wildlife at close quarters.
The only problem was that since this closed at 4pm which we had an overlong meal stop in the small town of Cowes. Apart from a nice sea view at the bottom of the Main Street there is little else to see and the choice of eateries was average at best.
Our guide and driver - Gary - was very informative and friendly and it was nice to be part of a small tour group.
In summary, a must for anyone who loves wildlife lovers but would have been better without the ‘warm-up’ acts.

We specifically chose this afternoon day trip because we didn’t want to spend all day on Phillip Island like some other tours when our main goal was to see the penguins. We loved how this tour condensed the main highlights like the Moonlit Sanctuary (which broke up the 2 hour drive), Nobbies, and then the penguins at sunset. Our tour guide Alex also made sure we were entertained on the bus ride and had lots of knowledge about the island and animals.

We got to feed kangaroos at the sanctuary, learn about the island, and see the penguins!! They’re so cute, and it’s amazing to see - an experience you can’t replicate at a zoo. One of the highlights of my two week trip in Australia for sure.

Wear warm clothing! We went in the winter so it was a little chilly.

We chose the one day trip to Philip Island tour and it was great! We first arrived at the moonlit sanctuary for seeing and feeding Kangaroos and Wallabys and watching different kinds of animals, then we went for sightseeing the penguins at Philip island which also was great! Little penguins parade at the beach, much recommended. At the place you can have a delicious dinner and buy something at the shop. I also want to recommend buying the premium ticket to see the penguins, worth it.

I strongly recommend this tour and Oceania company, they are very serious with their job and very friendly. Our guide Judith, was always attentive to our needs and questions, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and welcomed. Judith truly made the trip unforgettable, was on time in the hotel to pick us up, very kind and gentle with us; she explained everything about the city of Melbourne and Sydney, also about different Fauna of Australia and various topics. she demonstrated a deep knowledge of the place, offering fascinating details and enriching the experience with interesting anecdotes, she also brought bottled water for us (very important to stay hidrated on these long tours) for what we were greatfull, she was very nice all day and helped us in every way she could.

      Thanks for everything,

What an amazing day! Loved every moment. We were lucky to have Fred who regaled us with his stories and information about Melbourne and Phillip Island. Just fantastic! Journey there was broken up with stops at the wildlife sanctuary, and The Nobbies and then Cowes, so we could all get some dinner (at various restaurants, at our own expense).

Then on to the main event, the Penguin Parade. Make sure you get the Penguin Plus tickets (which were included in our tour), as the view is far superior to enhance your experience, and go to the seating area, with the cushion provided by the tour company, as soon as you get there, to secure a good corner seat if you can to see the sea shore, and the banks to your right.

There are toilets near the seating, and weather can be changeable, so take another layer for warmth or a light rain jacket. You can leave luggage in the mini van, so you don't have to be weighed down each time you get off at each stop, but you might need it later, so worth taking.

The gift shop is good and not too overly priced, and there are food and drink options there. We got a free hot chocolate as our tour stayed until they asked us to leave, as they needed to turn the lights off - we were outside for about 1.5 hours, and they needed to get rid of what they'd already made up. Doughnuts were also being given away for free too!

I'd say it's a must do activity!! A fantastic experience and all round lovely afternoon and evening. Thanks Fred!

Eleven guests rode with Mehmet for this day trip to visit all the animals of Australia, both in the wild and at a small zoo, where you are up close to kangaroos, wallabies, emus and birds. We even passed a camel farm on the road! Bring rain gear. The highlight is at sunset when thousands of tiny penguins come ashore right in front of you. Mehmet made sure we had front row seats by offering his great advice. Restaurant at Penguins was very good. You will enjoy.
