Best way to spend the Good Friday weekend with GoWest tours to Philip Island and we were fortunate to get the founder of company Terry to drive and guide us. The day tour took us to Brighton Beach in morning and Moonlit Sanctuary to see Aussie wildlife in afternoon. The highligjt though was definitely the Philip Island penguin march where we saw 2000 little penguins come onshore. I would highly recommend paying a little extra to do the ranger guide tour where for 90 mins you got to have special access and explanations.

Just on our trip back to our hotel with our driver Corey.

Fantastic day some great sights on the tour "the nobbies" view is stunning and even got to see our first koalas and wallabys on the tour aswell which was a massive bonus as this is our honeymoon.
At the penguin parade I would definitely recommend trying to upgrade or getting the penguin plus experience as people that went to the normal viewing platform only saw about 20 penguins where as we had hundreds.

Yet again would highly recommend this tour to anyone and if your lucky enough to get corey as a guide you've had a bonus

Even after a car had rear ended us he remained very calm professional and came back to the bus apologised for something that was not his fault in the slightest and carried on like nothing had happened he is a credit to go west tours as I have seen alot of people handle situations like that very differently

Pick up from hotel, which was great on return at night. Our guide/driver was Cloe, bright and bubbly and very knowledgeable. The Brighton Beach boxes were a great stopping point, lunch offerings at Sanctuary were plentiful and good. The penguins Parade itself was simply brilliant and delightful (upgrade to penguins plus definitely worth it)
Highly recommend

Thanks so much for your review, rural_traveller_12! We didn't realise that there was any hype around our services, but we're delighted - if a little embarrassed - to hear that this is the case. We really appreciate your recommendation & hope to see you back in Melbourne again some time in the future.

Terry (who is the director of Go West) was our guide for our tour and he was lovely but I found the whole experience was grossly mismanaged. We booked in early March for our tour as we had suddenly decided we wouldn't drive ourselves in Melbourne. On this day, we had been looking at the Phillip Island Penguin Parade tickets site and the underground tickets were still available. We then booked through GoWest's website opting in for the underground upgrade as we knew how chaotic the penguin parade can be in general admission. We then received an email 12 days before the tour saying that the upgrade was no longer available. I was upset and rang and actually spoke to Terry on the phone and he apologized and said he didn't expect it to book out and that they were only able to get general admission. We were disappointed but decided to go ahead with the tour anyways as we could not reschedule/move our trip within such a short timeframe of departure. Today, we did the tour and it was so annoying. We skipped the Nobbies and got to the parade really late so did not have a good choice of seats. He also revealed that some members of the tour who were luckier than us had received the underground upgrade. This is so disappointing to hear as on the phone he told me that they were only able to get general admission for our tour date and we felt we had been lied to. If they had booked our tickets in March when we originally booked our seats on Go West we would have been able to experience this upgrade instead of leaving it to the last minute. We are very upset and will not be recommending Go West to any friends. We believe there should be some compensation for our disappointment and not getting to go to the Nobbies. So badly managed.

This is clearly an extremely disappointing review and there are a number of inaccuracies here, as well as a fairly serious slur about our integrity. We have reached out to the reviewer to clarify some issues and will respond further once we have heard back from them. Interestingly, the reviewer travelled on exactly the same service as the guests whose reviews appear immediately above and below this one, so we'll let the reader make up their own mind about our services.

First, try to request Clemency as your guide. We thought she was amazing. She was informative, funny, had a curated playlist for different portions of the trip. She was excellent at time management but also flexible when things came up. I can't say enough good things about her.

This was an amazing experience. We fed kangaroos at the animal sanctuary, paid an extra $20 to pet a koala. I'd absolutely suggest the free 20min show at the animal sanctuary.

We also did the more expensive package (guided ranger tour) for the phillip island penguins, and I'd really recommend splurging for that. They give you binoculars and you sit in a section closer to where the penguins come up You are in a small group (~10) per tour guide, and the guide gives you all kinds of information about penguins and helps spot them.

We had a wonderful experience. Tim was our guide and he drove us around smoothly. Everything was well scheduled and we entered all venues with no delays or problems whatsoever. We started with the animal sanctuary, where we get to directly feed and pet kangaroos and wallabies (very soft fur). We saw the most active Koala, just making laps around the same bush. It was very cute. Tim was very friendly, respectful and he just kept the mood lifted throughout the day.
He helped us in any way he could whenever we needed assistance. Very professional. It just so happens that the weather was great and the waves were especially calm, making the tour even better. It ended with a bang as we watched 1000+ penguins arriving at the shore, waddling home in droves. I strongly recommend getting the penguin plus package as you can see the penguins really close (and they're really cute!). Thanks Tim for the great tour, all the best!

Chris, our driver and guide, took us on a great day out to see the fairy penguins on Phillip Island. Along the way we visited the colourful beach boxes at Brighton Beach followed by a visit to Moonlit Sanctuary to visit some iconic Australian animals. We got up close and personal with the animals and the keeper talks were very informative. Later we stopped at The Nobbies to view a beautiful sunset and scenery before attending the highlight of the day- The Fairy penguin Parade. We paid a little bit extra to sit-in the section where we could watch the penguins come ashore and waddle close by us up to their burrows. It was an amazing spectacle! Chris was very friendly and knowledgeable and was very punctual in collecting us from our Melbourne pick up point in the morning. I felt safe and comfortable driving from place to place during the tour. I would highly recommend Go West Tours for this day trip.

I went on this tour with high expectations and the tour guide, Rohan, delivered. We first stopped and Brighten Beach to see the bath houses. These houses cost approx $395k which is amazing despite they are small, no running water or electricity. The size of them are mini barn size which typcially cost $800 in US. All different colors but facinating to view and have pictures taken. Next we to the wildlife park and saw the Koalas, Kangroos, Wallby's, Dingo's etc up close. It was a hot day but we were able to cool down with an ice code milkshake in the cafe (not shake like Us but bascially ice code cholocate milk which was yummy. We went to Philip Island to walk on the beach, get our feet wet and on to a little town for dinner. Last stop was the Peguin Parade. We did as our tour guide suggested for general admission, we sat at the top on the right hand side to have premium viewing of the peguins coming out of the water. Then affet about 15-20 min we walked along the board walk walk and saw peguins up close. We even got to see a mama feed her baby. Excellent trip and we apprciate our tour guide Rohan for his experenice with all areas visits. Thank you Rohan.

Very fun tour! Our guide Sherif was very energetic and fun. He also performed on an indigenous instrument which was really nice and showcased a bit of the local culture. Brighton boxes were very colorful and pretty but we felt it was a bit too rushed to take all the photos we wanted to. Moonlit sanctuary was really fun seeing and interacting with the local wildlife, especially feeding the kangaroos and wallabies. Only regret is that the koala petting times were 12 and 3pm which did not fall in our visiting period. The nobbies and Phillip island were really cold and windy, suggest to layer up in the winter. The penguin parade was super cute and a really unique experience. Highly recommended. Overall had a really good time but the tour was a bit rushed and we had to rush lunch and dinner too. Perhaps the tour could start a bit earlier to allow for more time at the various stops?

Wow...you joined 3 of our tours, shc1997! Thanks so much for investing so much in us & trusting us to look after your sightseeing to so many of Melbourne's surrounds. We're really happy to hear that you had so much fun on this tour, even if the shorter days of winter made it feel a but rushed. Thanks again & we hope to see you back in Melbourne for even more fun some time soon!

During our visit to Australia we decided to do a tour to see some of the local wildlife. We booked online (preferred penguin viewing - not underground) and promptly received our instructions for pick up. When the day arrived, our tour guide Leonie picked us up at our hotel, and proceeded to drive us to our destinations. We particularly enjoyed seeing lots of animals, especially the koala and the Tasmanian devil at the sanctuary, but the highlight by far was the penguin march - they are adorable. Leonie did a great job throughout the trip providing us with a lot of information about the areas we were visiting, and even took us to see wallabies off the beaten track. It was a day of many great memories; by far our favorite activity of our trip to Australia (we also saw the Australian Open, but this takes the cake). We highly recommend this tour to anyone who is in the Melbourne area. Hopefully you will get Leonie (although she assures us all the guides are great).
