- S6195PIandrewp0 contributionsA must do Adventure while in HobartReally great experience for the adventure lovers in a mountain bike mecca. We did the big day out tour and couldn't be more happy with the service and equipment from Tasmanian Mountain Bike Adventures. They provided is with 2 modern bikes ( one electric) that were well maintained and in excellent condition and a back pack with spare tubes and equipment just in case ( that we didn't need to use fortunatly). Rich from TMBA drove us up mount Wellington and provided us with trivia and history of the mountain and of Hobart that was interesting along with a comprehensive overview of the trails that complimented maps provided on Trail Forks. D3finaly a must do for any Mountain Bike enthusiasts while in HobartWritten 12 January 2025
- Franatical0 contributionsHeaps of fun! Would come back and do it again! We rode the Pipeline Track and included the shuttle to FernTree (well worth it!). Richard was great in explaining everything about the ride and the bikes. The trail was pretty smooth and the views back to Hobart spectacular. Lunch at the Fern Tree tavern was great. A great fun day out and very glad we booked with Tasmanian Mountain Bike Adventures.Written 22 November 2024

- timboh20180 contributionsVery accommodating and well-maintained quality mountain bikes. We did not have reservations for mountain bike rentals, but they were able to accommodate us on the same day. Phil gave us great instructions for the single track rides. We’d love to bike uphill, and he told us where to go. We then rode all the way up to Mount Wellington. When we got back to their shop, we were in a rush to get back to our cruise ship because we had another excursion scheduled for that evening so they drove us down and we made it just on time to our evening excursion. I would highly recommend them.Written 6 February 2024

- Victoria W0 contributionsMt Wellington Mountain Bike experience. We absolutely loved this experience. We are a family of 4 - including 2 teenage boys. We had a collective experience of mountain biking ranging from zero to loving-it-and-looking-forward-to-a-challenge. Zoe and Phil were great tour guides. They were super friendly and took things slowly for the more reluctant family members, while at the same time pushing the avid mountain biker amongst us to a level he felt challenged him. They were patient, knowledgeable and the bikes we used were great. The rainforest part of the trip was just beautiful. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to take in the views of Mt Wellington and the fun of a descent by bike, but also wants a personalised, up-close-to-nature experience. Thanks Zoe and Phil. We thought you were great.Written 28 December 2023

- D758OFgrahamc0 contributionsGreat bike tour down Mount WellingtonVery much enjoyed this trip - it was well organised, left on time and safe. The email the day before was reassuring and gave all info needed. The guides were good fun and informative, and made very sure that everyone had a bike that suited them size wise. Plenty of time to enjoy the top of the mountain and its views. Exhilarating ride down the first 6K of the road. Mixed ability and confidence in group - everyone felt safe, no one felt too slow, but fast ones could go ahead. Lots of instructions especially on steeper sections. The 14k along the pipeline trail was beautiful riding. Tips - remember to fill in online waiver before you go- saves everyone time. Remember that meeting point is about 10 minutes drive out from CBD (took about 5-10 mins to get an Uber so maybe book a taxi). Book this trip - it’s great !Written 15 March 2023
- hollym5210 contributionsMountian Biking HobartWe hired full suspension mtn bikes off Phill and the team, great bikes and in great condition. Phill shuttled us to the top of the mountain, giving local info and gave us suggestions based on our skill level for the tracks. It was an awesome day and experience to ride Hobart trails. A massive kudos and thanks to the team at Tasmanian mountain bike adventures. Definitely recommended for Hobart adventures. The trail we did was north-south roughly grade 3, probably good to have some mtn biking experience or at least a good can do attitude. A big range of tracks on the mountain.Written 26 February 2023

This was a thrilling bike ride!
At an elevation of 1271 m our ride’s starting point the Mt Wellington summit was a cool 5.8 degrees🥶.
With the safety of our guide Rob in the support vehicle following us … we coasted down the winding summit road on mountain bikes for approx 13kms. After a short break we then proceeded on the “pipeline track” that took us thru the scenery of huge trees, waterfalls, springs, ferns and scrub while hearing the pleasant sounds of Kookaburra’s and Cockatoo’s. This track took us back into the suburbs of Hobart.
All up we did approx 26 kms in 3 hrs.
Rob our guide was with us all the way, he was great and our experience was great!!! 😃

While in Hobart my friend and I chose to go on the easy bike tour down mt Wellington. We had never mountain biked before but our guide Zoe was very helpful and it ended up being one of the best days of our trip! Even though we didn’t get to the summit due to the weather she offered to drop us at a hike on the mountain after to compensate, going above and beyond, giving us her number in case of emergency and directing us to which walk was best. Thanks so much for this amazing experience! I would definitely recommend this to other young travellers.

Hi Hannah, thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. I had a great time sharing the pipeline track with you both. Really pleased you got in a hike as well. Was watching the weather - think you may have made it out before the snow showers. We had snow down to 150 metres above sea level today. The mountain looks like a fairyland! All the best with your future adventures. Zoe

Was so glad we signed up for this adventure. This tour has been catered to be fun and informative for everyone, even if you aren't a seasoned cyclist or in the best of shape.
The entire adventure is just a downhill coast making it a perfect ride for all. The ride covers the peak of Mt Wellington, some road trails, some nature trails and you'll get to see a diversity of flora, waterfalls and if you're lucky, some wildlife.
Zoe was great in the prep work. As it was unusually rainy the day before, Zoe was considerate enough to provide us with some water resistant pants in order to keep our lower half clean.
The MTBs provided are all really well maintained and came with useful features like suspension lock mechanisms, seat droppers, disc breaks, gear shifters etc. Before starting out on the road, Phil gave us a run through on the functions.
Phil took us out on the cycling adventure and every once in a while he would stop us at certain points of interests to provide us with a lot of interesting information on the flora, fauna, meteorology and the history of Tasmania.
I can not recommend this trip enough, worth every penny and I would give it 6 stars if I could. Thanks a lot to Phil and Zoe!

Wow 6 stars! Thank you both for joining us last week and also taking the time to provide so many details of what you loved. With 120 mm of rain the day before - extremely rare in Hobart - we are so pleased the water proof pants did their job! One advantage of the rain is that the waterfalls are even more impressive and the forest seems more alive. The pipeline is one of our favourite trails - so pleased we could share it with you.

Accidentally booked for the mountainbiking experience instead of a descend bike tour in NY as I have never been mountainbiking before. Not only Phil and Zoey were very accommodating, responsive and professional despite the fact I tried to organise it at the very last minute but also tailored my first mountainbiking experience to be enjoyable thrilling but safe. Great value and awesome experience, I ended up going back mountainbiking 3 more times! High recommended if you like outdoor activities, I would recommend everyone visiting Hobart!

Myself and 14 of my colleagues just came back from a trip to Hobart and the team at Tasmanian MBA could not have done a better job of looking after us. They picked us up from the airport and dropped us back, which was seamless and took away the stress of us having to work the timings out ourselves. We did the bike hire + Mt.Wellington Summit and descent + pipeline track which was incredible. Not only was the mountain biking immensely fun and enjoyable, Phil & Ritch also shared their knowledge of the region and lots of interesting facts about Mt Wellington, Hobart and Tasmania. I had never gone mountain biking before but the team made it really easy and every single one of us had the best time!

If you enjoy cycling (road, mountain, commuting, gravel) you'll love riding from the summit of Mt. Wellington into Hobart. It's the details that count and Phil & Zoe the owners took great care of us. It started with a text the day before reminding us of what we needed to bring, what to expect and a great tip on where to get breakfast (Ginger Brown) close by. The bikes are duel suspension, in excellent condition and perfect for the terrain. We had planned on doing the intermediate descent but our plans changed and Phil was incredibly patient and accommodating. He effortlessly switched us to the easier trail route shortly after we started the descent. As it turns out the easier route was far more interesting from a historical perspective as you wound your way down following the old Hobart waterworks infrastructure built by the convicts in the 1860's-1880's. After we got back Phil had great suggestions for other things to do in Hobart. We were so well taken care of and I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys cycling. For reference my friend and I were 70 and 52 years of age respectively.

Amazing! If you can get good weather the views are incredible. The guides are helpful and everything can be done at your own pace.
I recommend wearing something like shorts and a jumper as every 100m you go up it gets about 1 degree cooler. I also recommend that you have some experience on a bike because there is a bit of off-roading to do down parts of the mountain. There are some challenging parts of the trip but very doable especially because you don’t have to rush and you can take your time. Its suitable for all ages on my tour we had a couple older couples and some teenagers and everyone managed to do it.
Great experience and would definitely recommend it when in Tassie!

What a great biking experience we had with this company. Richard our guide for the day was excellent - such a genuine guy who wanted us to have fun and be safe and who looked after us superbly from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. And he was full of fascinating stories and anecdotes which truly added to our experience. A thorough initial briefing at the office was followed by a swift drive up the mountain and two great rides - on the road and then the trail. Scenery was stunning, hot chocolate at the midpoint Cafe is to die for (!!) and we just had THE most relaxing ride all the way to the bottom. A great way to experience one of the key landmarks in Hobart. Many thanks, indeed, Richard - loads of memories and photographs.

Reliable and informed guide Rich, who looked after us with bikes, helmets, gloves and an extra layer of warmth at the top - big temperature difference between the top and the bottom of the mountain on the day we did the ride. Carefully explained the route for hazards and provided anecdotes along the way. If you can ride a bike you can do this - it’s mostly downhill ! Was great fun!

It has indeed been crisp in the mornings recently after some really hot days but an extra jacket does the trick. Thanks for your recommendation Helen and wishing you many great future adventures

Well organised MTB tour, with plenty of information provided during the booking process & a follow up phone call to confirm the trip booking made on a Sunday, excellent customer service & advice provided by Zoe. Tour guide Rich had a wealth of knowledge about the location, MTB riding and how to keep your fingers warm with the near zero temperatures on top of Mount Wellington, the warm riding jackets provided we’re definitely needed with the ice & wind we found on the mountain top. The ride down the road provided an amazing view of Hobart City & surrounds. Next the water supply pipeline track, rainforest & waterfalls was an easy ride of anyone & well supported with Rich’s advice & knowledge of the area all the way back down the track. Great day out in Hobart & well worth trying.

So pleased you had a great morning out with Rich. Thanks also for your added interest and sharing your knowledge of our water supply. Hard to believe how cool it can get on the summit once you get down to the pipeline track. Hope we can share the North South track and our local South Hobart trails with you on your next visit.
