- Journey479208289540 contributionsAbsolute recommendation!!Thank you for this unique experience! Thanks to the great planning by Under Down Under and our guide Andrea, we were able to see so many sides of Tasmania in just five days. This is a tour I will remember for a long time. Our small tour group grew closer and closer during the tour! Our guide Andrea found just the right balance of giving information, with breaks, time to marvel and enjoy, hikes at all levels and insider information. Thank you very much, an absolute recommendation! Keep on, Under Down Under!Written 13 January 2025
- 532jadek0 contributionsFamous 5 - 5 day Tour of TasmaniaI have just completed the “famous 5 - 5 day tour of Tasmania “ and thoroughly enjoyed it 😊 Our Tour Guide Andrea was extremely helpful, informative, caring and funny and added to the enjoyment of all the fantastic sights and experiences we shared. I would highly recommend this tour as the ideal way to explore Tasmania and experience the breathtaking wilderness of the rainforests, waterfalls and hiking trails; and the spectacular beauty of the Eastern coastline.Written 12 January 2025
- ashleighp5000 contributions100/10 would recommendBest way to see Tassie when you have never been before and want it hassle free. Our guide was fantastic; super knowledgeable, funny and approachable. What a stunning state to explore. Great value for money with this tour. I do believe the 10 day is the way to go.Written 12 January 2025
- berniep7720 contributionsUnder Down Under Ultimate-10 tour was awesome!I thoroughly recommend the UDU Ultimate-10 tour ... 10 days covering lots of Tasmania (from Hobart to Mt Field NP, Queenstown, Strahan, the wild North-West, Stanley, Cradle Mountain, Launceston, Bay of Fires, Bicheno, Freycinet NP, Bruny Island and Port Arthur ... and lots in between!) Tim (our guide) was awesome and Tassie (and the tour) was even better than anticipated. Under Down Under Tours were excellent throughout ... from the booking process right through to final drop off back in Hobart.Written 8 January 2025
- shuhuiy20250 contributionsWell-organisedFantastic tour - we were so lucly to have beautiful weather, amazing scenery and a very knowledgable guide. The tour was very well organised, as the guide would provide ternative activities when necessary (e.g. bad weather, attraction closed to public, less challenging trails). We so got to meet amzing people, I would highly recommend joining this tour!Written 7 January 2025
- gilld6690 contributionsAn amazing and unforgettable trip!We did the 10 day tour last October and have terrific memories of this beautiful island. The scenery was spectacular and made even better by the lovely weather we had - boat trip on the Gordon river was out of this world, walk up to view Wineglass bay, numerous areas of rain forest, view from Mt Wellington, the stunning coastline and the memories go on and on...the trip was fantastic and made even better by our guide Tim who was so knowledgeable and passionate about the history, local interests, wild life etc of Tasmania and we left with a great understanding of this beautiful island. Not to mention the night we ventured up past our hotel in Hobart to see if we could spot a platypus - guided by Tim we witnessed not only 1 platypus but 2 rather jealous males having a disagreement over whose territory it belonged to... we also saw wombats, pademelon, echidnas and little penguins to mention some of the other wildlife and some fantastic flora - 10 out of 10 for this trip. Paul and Gill, Ireland.Written 5 January 2025
- cecilesc280 contributionsAmazing time in TasmaniaAmazing tour around Tasmania, with a lovely group from all over the world and the best guide! Everything was so well planned and organised to show us some of the most beautiful spots of Tasmania within 5 days, with different options to suit everyone.Written 4 January 2025
- louisemL5872MS0 contributionsGreat trip and very well organisedVery well organised and great places visited. Our tour guide Tim was exceptional. Not only did he have a vast knowledge of everything about Tasmania, he was thoughtful and attentive to the needs of the group, with ages ranging from early twenties to early eighties. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We covered a lot of area in 5 days and really felt we had a good look at this beautiful island.Written 3 January 2025

- E6277EUmarkw0 contributionsExplorer 6-day tourAndrea, our guide, was great. He was really informative, approachable and had a great sense of humour which made the long bus rides even more enjoyable. The places we visited are definitely out of the way and hard to reach independently but it was all taken care of as part of this tour. I’d go again and would recommend my friends to join as well.Written 26 December 2024
- S T0 contributionsBrendon, the best guildOf course Tas is the best travel destination with all these breathing taking views. Our guide, Brendon, has been excellent in terms of knowledge and skills and he has been professional and been kind at all time and provided modification to meet different fitness levels. I reckon that he deserves a promotion. JWritten 25 December 2024
- Afcochrane0 contributions6 days of fun in TasmaniaFrom pick up to drop off, our guide Hadyn was full of infectious joy about the flora and fauna of Tasmania. This tour seemed to cater to older guests which suited us perfectly. We were able to walk as much or as little as we desired any day. The driving was broken up by regular stops and Hadyn had excellent suggestions for good coffee & food. Because we were a small group, we were able to adjust the schedule slightly to suit all our needs. Some of the highlights for my husband and myself were the walks and waterfalls of the national parks, bay of fire, Gordon river cruise, Dove lake walk, the Unzoo and staying in Eaglehawk neck plus the best eggplant parmigiana I’ve ever had there. Some of the accommodation was very basic, but clean while in Launceston and Eaglehawk Neck it was more luxurious. Our driver was very professional and safety conscious.Written 13 December 2024
- David J0 contributionsAn excellent introduction to Tasmania. We were looking for a trip that encompassed the best of Tasmania, without the hassle of self driving. This appeared to fit the bill and it delivered in every aspect! Although the days were long, necessary to cover the itinerary, they were well broken up with regular pit stops. We chose the motel option, luxury accommodation it wasn’t, but all were comfortable, clean and good value for money. We finished the trip knowing a lot more about Tasmania than when we started, thanks to the knowledgeable and entertaining Campbell Read, our guide. As a result we will definitely return to the island in the future to explore further.Written 12 December 2024
- paulaU5900SA0 contributionsA superb tour of TasmaniaAn excellent tour. Good accommodation and food. The guide, Campbell Read, was exceptional, full of knowledge about the wild life, flora and fauna, and the history of the island. He clearly explained the program each day and was always helpful. The tour gave us many opportunities to explore and appreciate Tasmania. We would fully recommend this 6 day tour.Written 7 December 2024
- 800gayd0 contributionsA Great Way to see the Best of TasmaniaA great way to see the best of Tasmania. Not all meals included but our guide had good suggestions of places to go. Usually needed to buy lunch on the way to remoter areas but we always stopped somewhere with a good bakery or shop. Only difficulty was on Friday night in Launceston when hotel restaurant was booked out, nearest pizza place was only open Sat-Sun. Stillwaters Restaurant across the road was open but expensive but food was very good. There are a lot of spots on the tour where you have to walk a bit, and for the Dove Lake circuit (2-3 hours) and climb to the lookout over Wineglass Bay (30-40 mins) you need to be reasonably fit. Five of us were fit over-70s and had no problem. Bruny Island day had chance to try a cheese tasting board and local oysters. Oysters some of the best I have had. Our guide-driver Keygan is a Tassie boy and very knowledgeable about the wildlife and very happy to share it with us. Thanks to all at Under Down Under for a great experience.Written 5 December 2024

The Super 7 tour offered is the best way to experience the highlights of Tasmania within a small amount of time. Our group was very small (four people) but we all have different interests regarding the tour. Our tour guide, Sam, did a phenomenal job of catering to each of our needs/wants (some of us wanted to do big hikes, others wanted to relax). No one felt left out and he remained professional and informative the whole way through, despite the numerous setbacks he was faced with.
Thank you very much to the company as a whole. I highly recommend anyone looking to enjoy Tasmania to research the various tours Under Down Under offers!

How else can I sum up this tour than fantastic. Our guide Misty created a wonderful group feeling while being practical, knowledgable, accommodating, kind and funny as. I went on this tour to see the nature and wildlife of Tasmania and it did not disappoint. Each day had a number of great things such as stops to sand dunes, berry farms, waterfalls, small towns, mountains, hikes or seeing wildlife. I would recommend layers for this time of year and waterproof/hiking shoes as it can get muddy. There were a range of walk options, and people from all ages and walks of life, which made the tour that much more enjoyable. The smaller group size really sets this tour apart. The backpackers accommodation all had cooking factilities on my trip which was appreciated and any dietary requirements were accommodated during the tour. I will say the only downside was that the port arthur and bruny island trips are not with the same group/have people doing day trips which was unexpected. My trip went from East coast to West coast (a reverse itinerary) with fantastic weather and I think it was better than West to East. Thanks under down under and thanks especially to Misty for making the trip an experience I will continue to cherish with her great attitude. You won't regret seeing what Tassie has to offer!

Then you really need to do this trip with Under Down Under! Paid for the basics trip (youth hostel-type accommodation) but barely noticed any difference from motel-style sleeping. Evan's attention to detail, the comprehensive itinerary, and the excellent local knowledge kept us safe, informed, relaxed, fit and jolly. Highly recommended. Seriously, I'm happier now than I was a week ago. You will be too.

Has a great experience with Misty as our tour guide! Saw many great and beautiful places and really enjoyed this trip.
Felt like really good value for the trip, would recommend upgrading to the private room hostel option if you're like me and can't hack shared form rooms any more.
Really appreciated how well structured and organised it felt with Misty, with very regular toilet stops, informed where to source drinkable water, and some fun treat stops too! Apparently tour is adjusted slightly to make the best of the weather which is ace.
Mostly backpackers, with a few older people on holiday also, but all made for a really nice group of people, which Misty encouraged to come together over family/group dinners. She helped create a great vibe for the tour, and was really fantastic.
We had Keegan for the last two days of our tour doing Bruny Island and the Tasman Peninsula, and his knowledge of the local history and environments we were in, were super in depth! Learnt a lot about native animals and the sad history of Tasmania, which was appreciated.
I'd highly recommend Under Down Under tours to see Tasmania, and would book with them again. Booking direct with them allows you to view different room options.

Completed the Super 7 tour in November 2021. Five of the seven days our group was with Ian. Ian was extremely professional and knowledgeable about every activity and hike we did on those five days. He put in his extra touch on every place we travelled to by first explaining the history of the place and how it linked with the previous activity. He also accommodated all of our additional requests. I had to make an important phone call on a packed day with limited reception and he was able to provide me a time and area for me to make that call. Furthermore, he helped the group immensely when deciding on what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I had a great time on this tour, especially at cradle mountain and wine glass bay. I would highly recommend under down under if you are looking for a way to explore most of Tasmania in an efficient way.

What a great experience! I made friends for life, visited the best places in Tasmania and did so much in just seven days. Loz, our tour guide was knowledgeable, fun, helpful and faultless. I would recommend this trip for anyone of any age, we had people from 18 to 60 and we all got on famously. Really great trip at a great value, would do again.

What a brilliant tour! Our tour guide Matt was so friendly, funny and approachable, he was obviously extremely passionate and knowledgeable about Tasmania and that really enhanced our adventure. He supported every one of our group to achieve all the activities we wanted to be a part of. Tasmania itself is stunning! If you’ve never been I highly recommend going! The tour takes you to all the major highlights, and then some. Be prepared for lots of early mornings and extreme variations of weather. Best part of the trip, in my opinion, was climbing mount Amos for a birds eye view of wine glass bay. The climb was really challenging but so worth it, and the whole way up I felt supported by Matt and the rest of our group. I also met so many lovely people on this tour. Don’t hesitate, this trip was worth every penny!

I had an overwhelmingly positive experience with this guided tour and especially with the tour guide, Misty. She put so much love and passion into guiding us, from calling us a family, to remembering ALL of our names within the first hour, to showing us how to appreciate and connect with the land. I had no idea of what to expect from this tour and I was blown totally out of the water. I fell in love with Tasmania and I made lifelong friends with some of the people in my group. Even when things weren’t perfect, like the weather was gloomy, Misty showed us an appreciation for everything in a new light. She’ll tell you she’s the funniest person in Tasmania, and I guess you’re gonna have to go on tour with her to find out ;) 10/10 would do it all again.

Oh my word! What an incredible tour, particularly the 5 days spent with Misty (& Phyll the bus)!
Marvelous Misty made magical memories, many magnificent moments, and a multitude mates.
Not only was she the best tour guide I've ever had the pleasure of meeting (I've been on many, many tours), she's a great poet, comedian, and now (I hope!) a lifelong friend. She couldn't do enough for all 24 of us, and worked tirelessly, far beyond the scope of her job description and the itinerary. We had a birthday boy and a couple celebrating their anniversary on our tour and she made both days so special for them. Honestly, she made every day so special for every single one of us!
Good tour guides are always special people, but Misty takes this to a whole new level. She's knowledgeable, fun, patient, generous with her time and experiences, not to mention an excellent driver. We couldn't have been in better hands. From Day One she made us all feel welcome and included. She always took time to ensure everybody on the tour was enjoying themselves, regardless of their abilities or tastes. Everywhere we went, we were greeted by the locals as though we were old friends; "Any mate of Misty's is a mate of mine".
Lover of the land, the animals, the history: just a ball of love that is completely infectious. Her positive attitude rubs off on everyone she meets. You'll be a better earthling after meeting her.
Tasmania is such a special, beautiful place, and she did it proud. We saw pademelons, wallabies, echidnas, platypusses, wombats, sea-eagles, penguins - the list is virtually endless! Wonderful walks, glorious sites around every corner, and all accompanied by interesting and informative commentary from Misty.
They're aren't enough positive superlatives in the English language to fully do her justice. I really hope Under Down Under Tours realise what an asset they've got with this simple and elegant tour guide.

Excellent tour that gives you an incredible overview of great Tasmania.
Breathtaking landscapes, incredible history, fantastic wildlife and amazing people.
But all of this was just fantastic thanks to our guide Misty, definitely a superhero in disguise. Her passion and admiration for the land are contagious, always positive, funny and "humble". We all felt welcomed by her and she did more than just drive us around and shoot information, but made us also connect to what we were experiencing. And not to mention I had one of the best BIRTHDAYS EVER! Thanks to her.
The trip will take you to different landscapes, from the sunny beach to cold mountains, so be preprepared for all weather types.
Suitable for most ages, with a good mix of activities from opting for great hikes or chilling with a drink gazing at great views (we even saw a play, don't skip that one).
Accommodations were great, I stayed in private rooms with shared bathrooms, all very clean. All backpackers will have good facilities (bathroom, kitchen, laundry in most of them).
If you do the 7-day trip you will have a guide for the 5 days and two different ones, one for Porth Arthur and one for Bruny Island tours. Misty, Keigan and Rob.
The trip logistic was great, plenty of stops for bathroom runs or food, and they pick you up and drop you off by the beginning/end of tours.
The only recommendation I have is to improve the communication between the office - guide - traveller, as one girl on our trip almost lost her flight because they forgot to put in the trip planning her airport drop off (as it is an option), hope you guys refund her Uber.
But just go for it, worth every $, you will definitely have a great journey. Just "Sit back, relax, and enjoy the music!"

What happens to the group on Day 7 when tour ends at Devil's Kitchen? How do we get back to Hobart?

Hi
My friend and I are going to this adventure either 26 or 28 December 2021. We both double vaccinated from Sydney inner west and will book this afternoon.
It will be great if you give me an answer for following questions
1. Do we travel in Tasmania now?
2. How should I dress for this tour?
3. Do you provide breakfast?
4. How much do i prepare for meals and additional cost for this tour approximately.
5. Is it possible bring our luggage other than backpack. If yes, how heavy or bulky?
Thanks., Jung Lee
Written 1 November 2021
I can answer some questions for you. Each morning we would stop by a bakery for breakfast. So very reasonable options. We stayed in motels so no cooking facilities but those that stayed in the hostels could cook their own food for breakfast and dinner. Most of the time there were several food outlets so you could choose where you want to eat, but always good value options. In Tassie, always wear layers. Even in summer in some locations can get very cold. We had a suitcase each and day backpack. I think the info guide specifies how big but ours were fairly large.
Written 1 November 2021
This question is in the context of getting to/from Tasmania for the tour.
Could you explain the beginning and end of the trip i.e. where and what time you have to be to begin and what time and where are you finishing in Hobart on the last day?
