About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- annm4830 contributionsAbel Tasman treatsWe had a really great day out in the Abel Tasman National Park but with some tweaking it could have been better. All it would take is a different parking spot. First book with Aqua Taxis, they take smaller boats of about 10/12 people on a terrific and thrilling ride which starts on dry land. We were dropped off at Anchorage which is a walk of approximately 12/15 Kms back to the car park. The views are stunning and the track is good. It’s a moderately easy walk. The Park Cafe which is situated on the same road as Aqua Taxis is really great, ice cold beers and perfect pizzas, as well as other eating and drinking options. We parked at Aqua Taxis premises which is about a Km down the road. If you park in th National Park site adjacent to The Park Cafe, then as you walk off the boardwalk leaving the Abel Tasman at the end of your walk, the beer and pizza are a perfect end to a perfect day.Written 1 December 2024
- KathyB55490 contributionsFabulous food and a wonderful hands-on experience. We highly recommend this 5 hour 'Cook Like a Pro' experience. The meals were prepared from fresh local produce, and we were instructed by Peter, a highly skilled and professional chef. It was an enjoyable experience, and we learnt many new cooking skills in a very short time. Certainly, was one of the highlights of our trip to Tasmania.Written 19 October 2023
- leesar520 contributionsA must do!So happy we stumbled upon Cook Like A Pro In Taroona when searching for things to do in Hobart. It was one of the many highlights of our trip. Great value for money, food was absolutely amazing and we walked away with the confidence that we could recreate what we cooked at home. Pete’s professionalism, expertise and friendly nature made the day so enjoyable. Will definitely be back next time in Hobart!!!Written 5 October 2023

- Seattllite0 contributionsSeattlitte girlsOur group of 5 had a great time! Peter was a wonderful host had some funny stories about his life of a chef…to head chef. There’s not a lot of prep work, which suited us.The courses we created were amazing, yum and we learned a few tips and tricks of cooking. The fact that Peter hosts it in his own home is appealing he uses everyday products and equipment , giving it a homely feel. Definitely value for money. I would highly recommend giving it a go!!Written 27 June 2022
- Stephanie S0 contributionsAmazing cooking class experience, highly recommend - fine dining 4 course meal!!!Great cooking class - we learnt so much and the food was delicious! Peter is a highly experienced chef who teaches you how to cook a fine dining 4 course meal in a home kitchen (so you can replicate at home). The menu changes by season so you only eat fresh Tasmanian produce (including organic ingredients from Peter's garden). You also receive the recipes at the end of the class! Taroona was only a 12 minute drive from our hotel in Sandy Bay, so really close to the cbd. Definitely recommend, 10/10!Written 16 April 2022
- F7928DKgarym0 contributionsTop cooking in a standard kitchen, who would have thought? Easier if you are prepared. We were impressed by the simple equipment and a real home kitchen where we assisted in preperation and cooking of a great meal. I have gained quite a bit of confidenceand look forward to trying a few new things at home. It was a fun and relaxed time. We had a great day and Peter was very generous with his time.Written 18 September 2021

My husband and I appreciated Peter's expert guidance in this cooking class and his patience in answering all our questions. The setting is both homely and professional, making for a relaxed environment to learn. The final outcome was delicious! We were eager to tuck in to our creations at the end of the class and loved the fresh flavours. - PeterT9480 contributionsFANTASTIC, we loved it.This is a fantastic experience for anyone. Local or visitor. It is incredible value. Peter is a charming host with incredible experience, it is certainly a privilege to be able to spend time, never mind learn from him. We learnt so much, about food and about history of Hobart. I can cook, but now I have the confidence to try extra things that are simple, but so effective. The meal we prepared was 5 star and worth the cost of the experience alone. The food was extraordinary, the personal guidance was patient and supportive and the extra knowledge remarkable. Don't hesitate, do this. I said to Peter that it was a 'life changing experience'. Our gracious host laughed, but I was quite serious. I will eat better for the rest of my life because of this experience. Thankyou.Written 15 December 2020

Wow, what a wealth of knowledge Peter is! Full of fascinating information and anecdotes about the history and development of Hobart, focussing on, but not limited to Salamanca, Battery Point and the docks area. His research is very thorough and detailed, including many photos which provide increased insight into the early days. I'm Tasmanian born and bred and visit Hobart, including the Salamanca area frequently and will now see this beautiful part of the world in different light, thanks to Peter.

Lovely walk for 2.5 hours through the historic Hobart. Peter keeps you walking as he talks. The area now has a history of 180 years. Convict labour was used to reclaim land in 1830. Peter fills in the stories with names and characters to give the visitor a comprehensive understanding of the effects of British rule inTasmania.

I love walking tours because of the immense amount of historical information that is given. The tour with Peter didn’t disappoint . Our whole group thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was a leisurely walk and Peter did recommend a couple of food/drink venues which we did go to later and they proved to be excellent. The photographic pictures were a fantastic reference to the past.

Peter is a font of knowledge of the local history. His tour is fairly easy walking, some minimum uphill grades but my partner who has some mobility issues was able to handle the tour, which involved around 90 minutes walking. The tour takes you past some beautiful gardens, through some picturesque parks, and viewing some beautiful historic buildings.
I would highly recommend Peter's tour for anyone interested in the history of Hobart.

Peter is a wonderful guide! He came prepared with historic photos of the places he shows. He tailored the walk to make it relevant to us while covering a very wide variety of history in the area. My favorite part was the tidbits that we would walk past and never see if Peter hadn't sleuthed them out and pointed them out on his tour. Would definitely do this tour again.

Hey I did the walking tour of Salamanca Markets and surrounds with Peter today. If you like walking and would like to learn more about the early history of Hobart this is the tour for you.
Peter is really passionate about Hobart and sharing his detailed knowledge of its rich history. He doesn't pull any punches about the conditions of early settlement and has a deep respect for the story of the first nations peoples who are the true owners of this beautiful country.

Our tour guide Peter Lutz took us on a fascinating history tour of Hobart's notorious convict heritage of Battery Point and surrounding area. We visited hidden pockets, previously unknown to us which were so interesting to learn about. He has a vast knowledge of the history of the people and places. Well worth spending our Sunday afternoon.

On this tour we not only learned a whole lot about the history of Hobart, but also we were given recommendations for the best eating and drinking places, no matter what your taste. We felt very enriched by the whole experience. Both me and my friend have been to Hobart before on separate occasions, but never even made it to the Salananca area. What a special place and what a special tour you get with Peter. A very knowledgeable and friendly guide!
