Garren is well versed in all things wine and local history, providing some great suggestions to wine we wouldn't normally try. If you are looking for a great day of beautiful scenery, wine, great food and down to earth banter. Aging Barrels is for you.. And did I mention if you happen to buy more wine than you intend, like we did. Aging Barrels offers a fantastic shipping service. - lesleywU7227GJ0 contributionsHighly recommendedWe spent a wonderful day with Garren, the owner of the business who drove us around the Coal River Valley to visit 4 wineries and a cheese tasting. His knowledge of wines and the local area is excellent, and he was extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. His 11 seater bus is new and sparking clean and the distances between wineries was not too great, so you didn't feel that you were driving all day. The wineries themselves were great and lunch (included in the fee) at Puddleduck was exceptional. Overall, a fantastic day and highly recommended.Written 19 March 2024

He was a fortress of knowledge and opened our eyes to so many fascinating insights and backstories about Hobart and its environs. From the top of Mt Wellington that Darwin climbed in 1836 to the funfilled distillery and winery experiences, it was a fantastic experience. Excellent tour. Very helpful and professional host, such a relaxed atmosphere and managed so well we never felt rushed and felt assured would be visiting great places. Very thoughtful labelling of wines purchased to help people at the end. Highlights were Puddleduck wines and the experience at Nocton. Everyone had a wonderful day- thanks ageing barrel tours!

We recently traveled to Tasmania for a 10 day holiday, we are interested in the Tasmanian wine. I had done some research on tours offering exclusive wine tours. I came across Ageing Barrel Tours. I organised this through the internet and had regular contact with the staff. There were four of us travelling from North Queensland. What can I say... the tour guide was fantastic, he didn’t rush us, was very attentive and easy to have a conversation with. Coming from Qld, we like to chat. We had a fantastic day, spent lots of money on wines we don’t get a chance to know or see. Thank you very much, I would recommend this company to any one who is visiting Tasmania and want a private wine tour for you and your mates.

We were a group of 12 wise adults all experts in wine!! From the time of the booking to the end of the all day wine tour of the Coal Valley the customer service from both Sharon and Gaurin was flawless.
We had fun, we drunk, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Riversdale Winery celebrating a group members birthday plus visiting 3 other wineries and the cheese factory. Our tour guide Gaurin went above and beyond his normal duties we are sure and we are so grateful for the extra care he took of the group.
Congratulations you have a wonderful business, thank you from us all.
Everyone visiting Hobart should experience a wine tour with Ageing Barrel Wine tours.

We had a great time during this tour. We visited five different wine cellar and tried lots of good wines. You could also buy the ones you liked of course. The atmosphere was relaxed and the group around 12 persons which was a good number of people as you could easily ask questions and follow the winemakers as they went along serving and telling you about the wine.
I have been on a few wine tasting tours around the world but this was by far the best! Lunch was tasty and the landscapes you pass are amazing. Good selection of different wine cellars with different approach which made every stop interesting. We got to try a huge amount of wines throughout the day, around 8-10 different per cellar in general.
I would recommend this trip if you are already interested in wine or just want to know more. It is unpretentious yet sophisticated. The driver/guide also did a great job in guiding us throughout the day. A wonderful trip!

Our group of seven wanted to visit specific local wineries but didn't want to drive, so I contacted Ageing Barrel Tours to see about a private tour. After some discussion we came up with an itinerary including lunch at Richmond Bakery and most of my requested wineries. (The business advised that one of them would be too time-consuming to get to, given the others we were visiting.)
The small bus picked us up from our hotel on time and our host/driver did not disappoint, showing great knowledge of the local sights and wines. The tastings themselves were by-and-large very well run, with exclusive access to three of the four cellar doors.
I would happily recommend this business to any group who wants a private tour.

Amazing! Loved our day with Ageing Barrel Tours.
Our guide Carmel was an absolute legend and the day flowed seamlessly with her guiding us throughout the stunning Coal River Valley.
Beautiful wines & hilarious presentation at Puddleduck vineyard followed by an early morning tipple and informative presentation at Spring Bay Distillery.
Onto the picturesque Frogmore Creek for some more delicious wines, an absolutely stunning 2 course lunch and lots of delicious beverages on the back lawn overlooking the stunning valley.
We finished up at the lovely Pooley wines where we enjoyed some more great wines, exceptional oysters from Barilla Bay and impeccable service and hospitality.
We really loved our time at all the venues and would happily recommend the above venues, service and hospitality of all these wineries and in particular, Ageing Barrel Tours.

We did 2 tours with this compnay, the Huan and Coal river wine tour. Our host for both days was Mel, who did an outstanding job with the driving and commentary. What made this company really stand out, was the effort involved to put together an itinerary including a 5 star lunch on both tours. It really was a bonus that it was excellent value on top of a great day on both days. I would highly recommend this tour company and we will definitely be using them again the next time we visit

Partner and I took a winery tour in the Coal Valley late October. Visited some of the smaller wineries open without cellar doors yet for a weekend festival. Guarin was a great host despite the wettest day in Hobart's history (according to all the locals), called ahead to change our lunch to accommodate for the weather & helped with shipping some of our spoils at the end. Despite 6 venues (incl. cheese and lunch venue) did not feel rushed at all and very personable (only 4 total on our tour).

Thank you for the review - it was a very trying day indeed but there a few better options on a rainy holiday than drinking wine!

Wow, a truly WONDERFUL time spent on our Valleys Of Vino Tour today. We are a group of 9 friends who cannot speak highly enough of this experience - particularly having Fletcher as our guide. Fletcher’s incredible knowledge and passion for all things wine, Tasmania and general love for his tour is infectious - leaving us wanting more. And the wine tastings, all exceptional with incredibly talented and again passionate teams. THANK YOU ALL...... We look forward to returning again for yet another one of your magnificent experiences:).

This was a highlight of our trip. Well paced, great lunch, informative guide (Darren). 4 wineries with a lot of tasting - the first winery was Derwent Estate where we tasted 11 wines at 10 am! Maybe this could be swapped with the last winery but understand this things come down to logistics. Excellent value!

We do indeed reverse the order of the day regularly. We haven't quite settled on which works best - 11 wines at the first stop or at the last! Thank you - your feedback helps a lot! It is certainly a generous tasting...
