Very easy going and relaxed time. Later pickup of 9:30 was great vs earlier bus rides offered by other companies. Good info along the way.

        Coal River Valley wine tour
We used Tassie Tours for a wine tour through the Coal River Valley. The service they provided was excellent. Great communication leading up to the event, bus arrived well before the scheduled boarding time, the bus was clean, and the driver Luke was friendly and courteous. I thoroughly recommend this company.

        Day trip to Port Arthur
My friend and I did a one day bus tour with Tassie Tours to Port Arthur. Our guide/driver Clinton was great. He made our trip very enjoyable. He was very knowledgeable and the stops we made during the day were interesting. The customer service from the office was also first rate, when I phoned with a question.

        A potentiall good tour ruined
The tour was very satisfactory until we visited the Bonorong Sanctuary at the end of the tour. This was a pay entry in addition to the tour cost. I have no idea why we went there, it cost $29.50!each and was an insult to our intelligence. It was a decrepit over priced experience. Few animals other than a few kangaroos that were fly ridden, a cockatoo and another animal that we couldnt identify. A disgrace that Tassie Tours included it in our tour package and given it was an extra, not sure why they bothered, it was a disgrace.

        Great experience
This tour exceeded my expectations! Jodie was a fantastic guide who provided us with a grade experience with her vast knowledge teamed with humour, even taking photos for us! She made the day! A lovely small group with plenty of stops, amazing views of the coastline and ample time to spend exploring Port Arthur. I highly recommend this tour.

The staff were sooo good. Knew their job inside out. So helpful and understand you as an individual. I would chose this tour company again just because I felt it was important to them that we were looked after.

Hastings Caves, Tahune Air Walk Adventure
What a great day of adventure! Our guide Jodie was friendly and knowledgeable of Tassie history and landmarks. We stopped for morning tea on our way to Tahune Air Walk which offered some beautiful views of the Huon River while walking amongst the tree tops. It also offered other trail walks with picnic areas for those who don't do heights. A fun hang-glider ride and a lovely Cafe for lunch. Our next stop was the Hastings Caves - all I can say is WOW! Absolutely stunning! A Must See destination! Our guide was full of information with a touch of humour. Heading back via Frank's Cider Bar for Apple Pie & Icecream (yummo) and of course a Cider Tasting Paddle to top off a fantastic day!

Great value day trip - Tahune, Hastings Cave + Cider
Fantastic trip today with Mark as our guide. Tahune is great, so cool to be amongst nature - it is spectacular, though if you are a bit nervous of heights this could be an issue. Hastings Cave was amazing, I am really glad we put this on our list to visit. The cave is cavernous and cathedral like, really great experience. Then, capped off with a visit to Frank's for apple pie or a cider paddle. This was great value for money and an excellent day trip from Hobart. Mark our guide was great, really friendly and funny. Highly recommended.

BRUNY ISLAND 27/2/23 This was the best day out ! A full on flat out 12 hours of great experiences pick up to drop off

Andrew our tour guide was amazing from pick up to drop off. He got us all chatting to each other, told us so much about Bruny having spent much of his childhood around the island he knew it personally. He showed us places that were not in brochure (so to speak) stopped for us if he saw something noteworthy ie a white wallaby. By the end of the trip we had all chatted with each other and had many laughs as a group! He went far beyond a tour guide!
If I had taken my car over I wouldn’t have known to go see the places Andrew took us and would have missed many great experiences.

Leave your car or motorhome on the main land and book these guys !

I highly recommend tassie tours, I chose the lowest value tour on the list and received the best value for my money

Under the circumstances we had at the start of our tour that was at no one’s fault, Peter our replacement tourist guide managed to really bring it all and give us a tour of a lifetime. Not only in his personality and we’ll known knowledge really make this trip enjoyable but it was his quirkiness, his jokes that really brought it all in. His overall eagerness to entertain us.

He engaged well with everyone and really brought a high standard on what a tour guide should be.

But overall the tour, it was a great experience. I really got to explore Bruny island through coastal to rainforest with so much time to enjoy and soak in the scenery. The itinerary may say you’ll spot an albino wallaby, but get read to spot so much more wildlife through this tour (if you’re as lucky as us and roadkill doesn’t count)

Tassie Tours really brought out the best features on Bruny Island and their tour guides really outshine themselves.

Thanks for an amazing trip/experience /10

Our tour guide Peter Williams kept us entertained throughout the day and ensured that we got some great photos. Peter shared a lot of local knowledge with us. He gave us just the right amount of time at each location, taking full advantage the beautiful weather in the morning. I would recommend this tour. My only regret was not buying more scorched almonds at the chocolate shop. Many thanks for a wonderful day Peter.

Bruny Island is beautiful, and we had excellent sunny weather for our day tour. Rodney was a cheerful and knowledgeable guide, and a good driver.

We booked through 'Get Your Guide' - which was a mistake, because at no sage were we advised who the actual tour operator was, or how to contact them. This became an issue, because a miscommunication about pick-up address for one of our party meant the tour left Hobart over an hour late. We were unable to contact the the operator 'Tassie Tours Tasmania' to ask where our (very) late minibus was. I would advise people book directly with the 'Tassie Tours Tasmania' and avoid 'Get Your Guide'.

Running late meant we skipped a couple of the advertised destinations. A shame. More worryingly, no drinking water was provided, and some overseas guests resorted to filling their drinking bottles with non potable water from toilet taps. I hope they were OK.

Best way to discover Bruny Island in one day. Booked this tour very last minute, got picked up at the hotel earlier than scheduled - smooth start!

Not too many or too few stops, just a good mixture of everything including nature, food, drinks & sweets - quality ones

Didn't feel rushed nor bored - our tour guide young Peter was very informative and entertaining without being too over the top

One thing I noticed was different from other tours as we somehow avoided/missed crowds. Horrible weather with rain and wind but our tour guide shuffled around our itinerary so didn't feel like the tour was affected by the weather much

Very enjoyable day, loved the nature and the lunch spot!

Peter was our tour guide for this tour and was very informative and entertaining.
We started the tour at Get Shucked oysters. Peter mentioned that being a Sunday the busiest day if we went for Oysters in the afternoon they may run out.
Got to admit I would have preferred to have gone in the afternoon where we would have had a opportunity to sit down and try the variety of oyster options but because we got there around 9.00am they had opened specially for us to buy oysters (only natural) so we couldn’t sit down to enjoy them. As everyone says they were the best oysters I’ve ever had, just disolved in your mouth.
We then stopped off at the Bruny Island Chocolate Company for some chocolate.
So oysters and chocolate for breakfast was something new but enjoyable.

The views from the viewing platform at the Neck and the Bruny Island Lighthouse were spectacular and were the highlight of our trip.

We had lunch at a cafe and stopped off at the Bruny Island Cheese Company in the afternoon where we enjoyed a cheese board in a lovely setting.
Went to Adventure Bay where a couple of brave souls went for a swim after a bet with Peter. They lasted the 7 minutes so won the bet.
Had a small rainforest walk where some leeches decided to hitch a ride with some of the group.

There is a fair bit on unsealed roads so it can get rough. Be warned if you suffer from travel sickness you need to drug up as it seems all Tassie bus drivers drive fast despite some of the roads being unsealed and twisty and small buses can swerve from side to side.

Didn’t get to spot any albino wallabies although not through lack of trying.
We had a good group on the bus and the tour was enjoyable.

It's not a holiday unless you have oysters and chocolates for breakfast! haha! As you said, the oysters usually sell out very quickly at any time of year but especially so during the summer. It is a shame they won't do anything about the roads, but it makes for the adventure to the lighthouse all the better. At least you were in very safe hands with Peter. Yep, the elusive albino wallabies. You'd think white fur would stand out but the little buggers know how to hide! Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice review. Happy and safe travels Cheers!

Overall the tour was generally ok as we were able to do more than half of what I expected. It started with booking mixup on the pickup, broken door. It all contributed to a slow painful start.

Although I do appreciate the pickup in hotel but seems like this is not efficiently done.

Then there were some miss, i was expecting to see how cheese were made. Second i was expecting chocolate fudge samples. I know its covid but they can find covid safe way of doing it imho. No raspberry farm.

I was also expecting to see bit of animals as shown in the brochure but blame it on the hot weather.

Then worse of all our bus was broken. It was so inconvenient. I wished the company did something to ease the discomfort. It was literally hell inside the bus as there was no aircon. We wasted around 2hours of waiting for resolution. We were sitting at the side of the road with lots of dust mixed with sweat and exhaustion. We can smell fumes from the inside of the bus and i thought it was really unsafe.

My point being is I wish there was something done by the management like ensuring vehicle is working well, or having spare water if bus is overheating. Seems like there is no protocol for this kinds of mishaps. Think that it was an isolated island far from necessity. The company should have contingency if this happens.

Still thankful to Rodney as he was really resourceful in brining us back to Hobart safely but still such an inconvenience and it was no fun. It totally ruined my vacation.

Hi Rondzter, Thanks for the review. Im thinking maybe you booked the wrong tour if you were expecting to see how cheese was made and expecting free fudge samples and the raspberry farm? There is another company that is based around food and samples. We like to have a balance of 70/30 nature versus food experience especially when it was 34 degrees the day you travelled. Exploring the island's beaches, swimming, national park and tempered rain forest was a priority and of course a few stops along the way to sample the cheese, fudge, Oysters, Beer, Wine and eat a good lunch is always on the cards ( please note tastings and lunch is at own cost as advertised) It is also impossible to stop at every location on the island, We don't want to offer a rushed experience. Note for the readers: Please let our guides know if there is somewhere you would like to visit on the island, we are more than accommodating. This tour is tailored to suit the people on board and the days weather conditions. In regards to the bus all our buses are serviced and maintained thoroughly and have air conditioning. Unfortunately the bus split a hose to the radiator which was out of our control. Rodney did a great job in getting the bus back to Hobart. I sincerely apologise and am sorry that you didn't enjoy the day. Note to the reader: We have a great tour to Bruny Island with great knowledgeable guides, please read further down to get a true reflection and experience from other customers. Hope to have you on board soon. Regards Patrick

Best to make your way to Visitors Info centre at Salamanca if you can, or are reasonably close, to save numerous pick ups for the bus driver/guide that youll be with for the day, and enjoy it more.
That aside, it is the most amazing 5 star recommendation I can offer, our driver “BUNS” , was such a lovely guy and can only totally recommend Tassie Tours, but especially our driver/ tour guide “BUNS”

Fresh oysters / seafood/ champagne / cheese / Local beer, honey, ice cream and stout.!!!!!!!!

      Sept 2023 • Friends
Both my friend and I had thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Bruny Island. It was honestly one of the best experiences we've had while visiting Hobart.

The journey started in the early morning, where we walked from our accommodation to the pickup location that's sent to us the day before. Upon arriving, we were greeted by our tour guide / driver, Bunzie, whom was a humorous and knowledgeable guy. There's a total of 10 in the van, which is not too crowded and feels just right.

We started from Hobart city and drove all the way to Kettering for the ferry service to Bruny Island. Ferry only took like 15 mins and we were allowed to get down our vehicle for some fresh air. The ferry docked at North Bruny where we started our journey, passing the island neck and going all the way until the lighthouse located on South Bruny before heading back.

Activities include visits to local produce shops (fresh oysters, honey, chocolate, cheese, etc), bush and beach walks, as well as lunch at Hotel Bruny. I was blown away by how pristine the air was, how magnificent the views were, and how good the food tastes.

We were properly communicated of how much time was allocated for each activity, so please make sure you go back to the van by the time specified to avoid delays. Be sure to grab a beanie and windbreaker (or something that'll keep you warm) as it was really cold and windy for us when we walk up to the lighthouse. Also try to bring some light snacks like energy bars to keep you going throughout the journey. If not, there's a convenience store on the island but expect to pay a premium.

All in all, it was an amazing tour that was properly planned and each activity was given the right amount of time. Just sit back, relax and enjoy your trip at Bruny Island ^^

We had a wonderful day on Bruny with a great tour guide in (young) Peter. We got off to a rocky start as we accidentally missed the bus due to alarm malfunction, but the company graciously fit us in the next day instead, for which we were very grateful. I'm so glad we didn't miss out - the tour is a fantastic mix of beautiful nature and gourmet treats, and each stop is well-timed for what you're doing. Peter even rearranged our itinerary on the fly to make the most of the changeable weather. Every now and then we passed some far bigger coaches run by other companies, and I was grateful for the small size of our group and personal feel to the tour. I would really recommend seeing Bruny with Tassie Tours.

Oh dear, Tess. At least you had a good sleep-in and were well rested for the next day's tour XD. We've all been there before and we're just glad you didn't miss out. Thanks for noticing why we run small group tours...we too don't enjoy being patrons (or suppliers) of tours that are over-crowded and impersonal. Thanks for your beautiful recommendation. Happy and safe travels! Cheers!
