Such a beautiful little town! Tour guide Tim was wonderful. He was able to give lots of info not only on the town of Richmond but also walked through the jail with me and told me a lot of the history of the jail and some of its inmates. So interesting but such a sad part of our history.
The town of Richmond is so picturesque! Even though the weather was less than ideal it was still a lovely little town. Recommend you visit the lolly shop for a hot chocolate especially on a cold wet day like today!
Highly recommend this tour.

This 'village' is really very pleasant, esp on a nice sunny day. There's a couple of nice cafes and shops and an old bridge and church. All very nice - but Tasmania has plenty else to prioritise in my opinion. Perhaps use this as a slight detour on your way up the east coast rather than an actual half day trip?

Dear Ian, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm pleased to hear you found the historic township of Richmond to be pretty. Richmond is a picture-perfect town in the heart of the Coal River Valley wine region that tells the story of an early Australian colonial village. This is the perfect place to learn about Tasmania's past and can be as easy as a stroll down the pretty nineteenth century streets. Richmond has more than 50 Georgian buildings, many beautifully restored and now operating as cafes, restaurants, galleries and accommodation. The town's most photographed landmark is the Richmond Bridge. Built by convicts in the 1820s, it's the oldest bridge in Australia. We offer a stop at Richmond on our full day tour to Maria Island on the East Coast of Tasmanian and on our full day tour to Port Arthur which is located on the Tasman Peninsula. Our half day tour option is provided for those who want extra time to explore one of Tasmania's most popular tourist destinations which is what you booked and we provided.

Thus tour was great but honestly probably only as entertaining as we found it because we were lucky enough to score SUE as our tour guide. She was so interesting and her local knowledge was amazing. Talk about “going above and beyond” She gave me her knowledge of the highways to take when driving the remainder of our Tassie trip, what is a must to see and then recommend some Hobart restaurants, as what we have chosen so far haven’t been brilliant. Shame Grey Line don’t let her do more, well done Sue and thanks.

Dear Claire, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It is great to hear you enjoyed your time spent with Sue, on board our Richmond Highlights tour. Sue certainly does go above and beyond for which we and our passengers are very fortunate. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time spent touring in Tassie and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

This is a scenic old town which a stone bridge which spans across the river built in1823

It is worth visiting, where there is a little church up on the hillside built with stone

The other place to go is downtown and enjoy the only Scallop pie from the BAKERY shop

it is absolutely beautiful

Richmond is a picture perfect place to visit. The bridge and surrounding park is absolutely gorgeous. The bakery is lovely to have a curried scallop pie. The ice-cream is a must visit. Well worth a visit.

In December 17 we booked & paid for a "Hobart Historic Afternoon Tour" 5/2/18 through "Viator a Trip Advisor co". On boarding the bus we were advised that tour does not exist. Description still says historical highlights of Hobart & also includes trip to Richmond. Name of tour mysteriously changed without notification. No mention of merely being dropped to Richmond & left to fend for ourselves for 2 hours. Would not have booked tour if aware of actual content or cancelled if advised of change/correct description. Shame, shame, shame Viator, should receive legal punishment.

Worth stopping to check out the historical houses, buildings and crafts. Some great places to get a naughty snack or two (eg. chocolate, bakery treats), or to simply spend 1/2 a day walking around.
