Crew were excellent. We located a pod of approx 12 dolphins. As we approached we were informed that if a calf was with it's mother in the pod, we would NOT be permitted to enter the water to swim with the dolphins. The booking website does not make this information clear. We them went to another site, entered the water where 1 seal was sunbaking on a rock. End result was it turned out a very expensive snorkel, where we only observed seagrass & a few small fish. I emailed the company advising them that as calfs often remain with their mother for 3 years or more, they needed to advise the public at the time of booking that swimming with the dolphins was not allowed whilst a calf was in the pod. I did NOT receive a reply .......... disappointing. Bob

This tour is a gamble. We lost.
The employees were super friendly and we did see dolphins and sea lions. That said, the sea lions would not get in the water to join us and the dolphins didn’t come close either. So what we paid a lot for was a boat ride and a snorkel in very cold water. I was told by another traveler that there is another company which offers a money back guarantee that you will swim with dolphins but they were booked solid. I would have given them 5 stars if they discounted us for our lack of luck but they didn’t.

      Disappointing tour
We, as a family of 6 having paid over $1000, were very disappointed with our tour. We were told it was a good time to do the tour swimming with the dolphins. Once on the water, the story changed. Most of the seals were on the other end of the island having pups and the dolphins were also have little ones, so we could not swim with them. We therefore just had a swim with 2 seals for a few minutes. When asked for some form of refund, we were told we did swim with a seal and therefore no refund was given.

      An amazing birthday gift
The views were fantastic and the team so cool. Even the température water was quiet cold (13 degrees Celsius ), we forgot it 🤣. Thanks for this moment.

Awesome experience, the crew were absolutely amazing from there extensive knowledge and dedication to making sure we swam with the seals and dolphins, to the care taken with all our children and ensuring they were able to experience as well. Thankyou guys you are amazing.

      Disappointed
This was a disappointing trip and a waste of money. Appreciate that these are wild animals and sightings are not guaranteed but arrived to be told that the seals were around the other side of the island breeding and it was unlikely to see dolphins due to the weather conditions. Spent 15 mins snorkelling and the rest of the time on a freezing cold boat. Saw one seal on a rock. Wetsuits inadequate for water temperature - 2mm only. Everyone was freezing. No refreshments - a hot cuppa would have gone a long way. No information/commentary given by staff on the day. Given the other glowing reviews this must have been a bad day. I would recommend not going in January. I think the company needs to think about how they improve tours that don’t see wildlife- even letting us tow behind the boat for a bit of fun or having a second snorkel would have improved this experience. Can’t recommend.

Not worth the time or money!
WAY overpriced for a 2 hour boat ride and 20 minute snorkel, ($195). We saw 2 seals on the rocks and were told the seals are on the other side of the island breeding. This would be good information before we booked and were already on the boat. No dolphins. I understand wildlife is not predictable, but the experience was not even enjoyable. I have been in other boat trips where drinks and snacks are offered, nothing here. No one on the ride back seemed pleased, just cold. When the guide asked, “What did you think of that seal”, no one said a word, zero enthusiasm. Waste of time and money.

      A must do!
If you get the chance this is a must! Whilst the weather wasn’t suitable to allow us to swim the safari cruise was good. The crew know their stuff, Michael was very informative as was Bonny. Our skipper Ilijah was great kept us entertained. We will be back as we really want to do the swim. Guys you do a great job!

Great experience! Definitely worth doing while In KI.
Got to see so many dolphins right next to the boat, swimming and playing along.
Crew were very friendly and entertaining. We could move on the boat, not too crowded.
The boat even got a little speedy on the way back and we got to experience some cool tricks😊
Kids loved it, definitely recommend this one!

Absolutely amazing experience! My partner and I loved every minute of it. Our tour guides Elijah and Ashley were enthusiastic, informative and generous with their time. We saw dolphins who swam right alongside the boat, seals lounging on the rocks along the cliff face and White Bellied Sea Eagles perched watching over the sea. I could not recommend this any higher and believe everyone who visits KI should experience it.

So glad we booked a safari for the first day on KI. Ilijah’s energy really encourages the excitement to see the dolphins. You can tell how much he values showing people these beautiful animals; he even cheered when we finally spotted the dolphins!

A superb morning out on the water with Elijah. The weather was sensational and Elijah really knew his stuff. He provided a relaxed commentary and took us to the best spots for viewing wildlife.
We saw 2 seperate pods of bottle nose dolphins who really put on a show, they were amazing to watch. We also saw the endangered sea eagles as well as a seal and many cormorants.
Highly recommended. If you’re on Kangaroo island just do it!

Did this tour yesterday and it was just amazing. We saw Seals and Dolphins and it was great but the most important Elijah was very respectful to them and kept our distance. But the tour was made fantastic by Elijah he is a credit to the company and has so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and even adds some jokes as well. It was such a great tour - Thankyou !!

Our Ocean Safari exceeded expectations. We saw lots of dolphins which were happily swimming around and near the boat. The captain / guide was really knowledgeable and shared plenty of local history and information about the local geography. We saw one seal and we’re lucky to see a pair of sea eagles nesting on the cliffs. For someone who suffers badly from travel sickness, I found the boat moved very calmly and I didn’t feel sick at all. There was also a roof on the boat which was welcome in the unseasonably cooler weather. Highly recommended this trip for families and all ages.

Our family of five booked a last minute KI boat trip with Ocean Safari, and I’m so glad we did! Our guide Elijah was a lovely, funny and very knowledgeable young man who went out of his way to make sure everyone onboard had a great time and got to see the local ocean life. We saw plenty of seals having lots of fun, but despite going above and beyond in his efforts to find dolphins for us, they weren’t to be seen unfortunately! No matter, despite being very cold (make sure to take/wear a wind proof jacket at least) we had a wonderful time. Highly recommended, even the teenagers admitted it was great fun!

We had our original booking rescheduled due to weather which was a very easy phone call and was fitted in to our time on the island. Our guide Ilijah was great and made sure we had everything we needed before we set off.
Saw heaps of dolphins nice and close up as well as seals, white bellied sea eagles and a different view of the islands coast along the way.
Miss 5 said she would never forget this experience! Thoroughly enjoyed by all of us!

The jet boat for our Ocean Safari was pretty impressive and skipper Clem quickly got us around the coast to the pod of about 20 local dolphins so we could really enjoy the experience. There were a number of young calves swimming with or suckling from mum which was pretty special. We only saw one seal and another sea lions but the highlight on our safari was certainly the time spent in the company of the dolphins. Just to give us one last thrill on the way back to the marina, Clem did a couple of doughnuts in the jet boat, yee ha!
