Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Quest605301303450 contributionsSimply amazing! As an almost 76 years old women, I can tell that this tour was a long life’s dream coming true!! From the very first contact with the company I felt that I could trust all they promised. AND I’m NOT disappointed, - everything has been very well planed and went as expected. In many ways due to our fabulous guide Dan, and his sweet girlfriend who help him by cooking delicious meals for us. He has a great knowledge of many things. Let it be history or geology, - but especially the outback and the aboriginal culture, - it was a pleasure to meet his aboriginal friends, who gave us a VERY speciel experience! Simply amazing! Not only has Dan a great knowledge, but it was clear that he enjoyed sharing this knowledge with us guests. And with great humor and good music too. I have to be honest, - the summer heat was a bit challenging….but not only for me old woman.😉 I was happy for the alternative walks I could choose, though. Sleeping in the swags under the billion stars was wonderful, and can’t really be described. Big THANKS!Written 26 February 2025
- 129rachaelm0 contributionsAmazing 8 Day Adelaide to Uluru TourI did the 8-Day Adelaide to Uluru Tour in February 2025 as a solo traveller and had the most amazing time with a great group of people. The tour was brilliant and well organised from start to finish. Our tour guide Steve was great - he was good company, told interesting stories and facts, pointed out the wildlife, made sure we had good food each day and enough water and suitable shoes for hikes. I would highly recommend this tour - it was fantastic and a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you untamed escapes!Written 15 February 2025
- davidsY7275SR0 contributionsA Highlight of my Australia Trip! This tour is probably the best way to explore the Outback and see its hidden gems. We visited breathtaking locations, lookouts, canyons, and encountered plenty of wildlife along the way. Dan, our guide, was experienced, knowledgeable, and hilarious af. Plus, he has excellent taste in music. This was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my trip through Australia. Highly recommend—10/10!Written 9 February 2025
- 561hamideht0 contributionsAmazing experienceWe are return costumers of untamed escapes. Our first experience with Ian (Beebs) was so great that we came back and asked if he could be our tour guide again for Coffin bay day tour. We had a fantastic time. Visiting Coffin Bay national park, lunch at Oyster HQ, Oyster boat tour, wine tasting, so many little visits and sights to see. Incredible experience.Written 2 February 2025
- achimr7240 contributionsAmazing experienceThe 10-day tour from Perth to Adelaide was absolutely amazing. Great beaches, great hikes, lots of encounters with Australian wildlife, and sleeping in a swag sleeping bag under the stars. Our tour guide Elliott did a great job. His knowledge and expertise about Australia, the wildlife and the Aboriginal culture is impressive. Food preferences were also taken into account and variety was provided. Last but not least, I would also like to recommend the optional activity of swimming with sea lions and dolphins. An unforgettable experience!Written 2 February 2025
- michaellX8251KL0 contributionsOutback Adventure!South Australia is just amazing. I would have never camped there and experience the Outback without Dan and Untamed Escapes. Dan was an excellent tour guide and cared for his clients. He was very knowledgeable and worked hard to make the trip as fun as possible. The Aboriginal experiences we had along the way was outstanding. Getting to speak with the original owners was priceless. Thank you so much!!!!Written 2 February 2025
- majasN2794GY0 contributionsWe love DanThere has never been a greater adventure than the 8 day Adelaide to Uluru tour with tour guide Dan! He managed to make it the experience of a lifetime. Never lost his sense of humour despite serveral problems and always went the extra mile to make the experience even more special for us than it was anyway. Thanks also to Untamend Escapes who let us stay in air-conditioned 4-bed-rooms once after a hard day so we could revitalize. You should be expecting an outdoor adventure and be willing to help a lot and be fit to get up early, walk a lot, drive a lot, deal with changes of plan.Written 29 January 2025
- 124zed0 contributionsChallenging but funSaw some amazing places, loved the swag camping. Unfortunately a virus seemed to spread through group so quite a few of us not feeling our best at various times however really nice group of people who looked after eachother. Slightly disorganised in the first half and instructions on what was expected of us not overly clear and felt perhaps we weren't the most popular group however this improved significantly in second half. Hikes challenging but fun.Guide and his partner worked hard, very long hours of work and big group to keep track of, very good cooks and extremely knowledgeable about the environment and wildlife.Written 22 January 2025
- paulrS7600UH0 contributionsGreat experience, fun holidaySuperb trip, brilliantly led by Gary and Hannah who were thoughtful, organised, responsive, knowledgable and fun. Saw some amazing things which I’d never have experienced had I attempted to cover that distance on my own. Highly recommended.Written 20 January 2025
- jessicanastassjad0 contributionsBeaches, Wildlife, and Unforgettable Memories: The Perfect TourThe "10 Days from Perth to Adelaide" tour was my very first tour in Australia, and I could not have been happier with my choice. In the last few days, I was not only able to swim at the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, observe Australian wildlife such as koalas, dolphins, seals, kangaroos (and even a great white shark) up close, and sleep daily under a starlit sky, but I also made long-lasting memories with an amazing group of people. Special thanks go to our tour guide, Jackson, who made this trip unforgettable. Thank you for the tasty, freshly cooked meals (and my vegetarian options), thank you for your valuable knowledge about First Nations culture and Australian wildlife, and thank you for your light-hearted jokes and the laughter we shared!Written 18 December 2024
- Odyssey185986807110 contributionsBailey's Cheesecake and SwagI'm not a fan of tour groups as I prefer travelling on my own. As this part of the world is not really for people who can't drive, then a tour is the only option. It's a unique tour when everybody gets along, everybody is lovely and most importantly when the guide is amazing. It was a wonderful group to be amongst. The most inspiring thing I found about Jackson, was his lust for life and his love of cooking. This guy is a maniac (in a good way) in all the camp kitchens including roadside cooking. He had me at Bailey's cheesecake. At that point he could do no wrong...he made a frigging Bailey's cheesecake while camping. As a guide, he's informative, engaging and so personable. He tells fantastic stories and has a great sense of humour. This goes a long way when you're rained on while in your swag at 3am and everything is wet, the bus decides to play up along the way, will it start? or is it don't turn off the engine! to road train explosion in the Nullarbor causing road closures, bush fires and an overnight at the Roadhouse. We were all still relaxed, having fun and making the most of every experience. It was definitely a truly unforgetable road trip with truly awesome people, well navigated and managed by an experienced and outstanding guide. Even his hair is amazing. It's so annoying 🤣Written 15 December 2024
- GoTravelAU0 contributions10 Days Adelaide to Perth - rare, unforgettable experienceThank you to everyone from the "Ultimate Escapes" - the tour guides Tom and "Jerry", the behind the since staff that created and supported this itinerary and fellow travellers who made these 10 days unforgettable. We travelled a bit over 4200 km, filled with adventure and camaraderie. We tackled together beautiful hikes, slept in swags (and some of us for a few nights decided to have the luxury in tents) which added a unique touch to the experience. The diversity of Australia truly is something special. I was thinking the long drive through Nullarbor would be boring, but happen to discover a stunning beauty of the coast - The Great Australian Bight - with its dramatic cliffs and gorgeous ocean with the whales … and when you think, further down, opposite them is Antarctica Cape Le Grand NP - another place that I really enjoyed very much. The beaches are stunning. The whitest and finest sand in the world is in Lucky Bay where we were really "lucky" to spend 2 days. The water is crystal clear and dipping your legs in the freezing water after a long hike was so refreshing.. oh, those those little moments were the best! In general, this trip was intense, a bit physically demanding, but the more time passes, the more we appreciate and like the experience.Written 20 October 2024
- allisonv4010 contributionsThe only way to see this part of Australia. This trip surpassed my expectations. The walks in the Flinders Ranges, Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Uluru were enchanting and the views were breath-taking. It was also my first time sleeping in a swag under the stars and I loved it! This tour is solo-friendly as you are travelling with like-minded folk and Jack, our guide, was a natural at making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Our group was well looked after by him whether that be in the variety of food and meals, the time taken to answer our questions and the numerous toilet stops! Jack has the right combination of fun and attentiveness. He has an engaging way of sharing his knowledge of Aboriginal culture and stories which set the scene for our walks beautifully. This tour delivers a bucket list of memories at a comfortable and chilled pace. I had the best time and would highly recommend this tour.Written 4 October 2024
- DaveAndrewsKiliClimb0 contributionsSwags, stars, hikes, culture, adventure. This trip was spectacular. Jack, our guide was amazing and created the most inclusive atmosphere. Highly recommend! From swag camping under the stars in Ikara Flinders Ranges, to the oddities of the Outback desert, the magnificent Valley of the Winds in Kata Tjuta and Uluru, this trip is a delight. Jack has a great respect for Aboriginal culture and stories, a respect for the land, a knowledge of geology and gives 110% to make sure his guests experience the magic and rawness of the Aussie outback and country in all its glory.Written 26 September 2024
- julianneoc940 contributionsAn unforgettable experienceThis tour was one of the best things I've done in my time in Australia. We started in Adelaide and travelled through some really amazing places in a slept on South Australia to Uluru. The tour was really well organised, with so much to do it was busy but also really relaxed. Cost of the tour may seem high but with most food included we spent very little for the week! We got to see the most unique landscapes and wildlife in a lovely small group setting. The camping facilities were great and the swags comfy. The food provided was amazing with plenty of variety unlike other tours I've been on. The standout of the tour was our guide Jack.He went above and beyond at all times for us to answer the most difficult questions we threw at him! He was extremely informative and passionate, which made the tour a real experience rather than just a trip to see the sights. He was brilliant with any issues and most importantly was a great laugh and we all had so much fun. I would highly recommend untamed and Jack for a real once in lifetime experience.Written 5 September 2024

What an adventure. In just threee days we covered this beautiful island and our amazing guide Elliot showed us all the best spots - including where to spot koalas and the tamar wallaby which we were successful in seeing.
The camp spot was beautiful next to our own exclusive white sand beach. Waking up to a sunrise with kangaroo checking out the camp was a personal highlight.
Elliot’s knowledge of the local fauna and wildlife was really impressive - especially as he himself wasn’t a kangaroo island local.
The three days honesty felt like three months - didn’t want it to end. Thanks Elliot - and Adam who ensured we made the ferry in plenty of time when he collected us from Adelaide bus station - and back again!

we have seen many many animals on Kangoroo Island : Countless kangaroos, some of which hopped right past the camp, koalas free in nature, an iguana, sea lions at Seal bay, many geese, pelicans, cormorants and many other numerous bird species. Really great! and also the places we visited were great. The super great winery, the impressive coastal landscapes , the places in the country.
The camp is simple but it is a good experience sleeping in the swags. The food during the trip was simple but still varied. I liked the barbecue on the first night with kangaroo skewers, lamb sausages and vegan alternatives the best. Also the vegan pancakes that were available for breakfast on the third day were top! Overall a great, recommended trip.
The experience was only clouded by two fellow travellers who were fundamentally negative towards everything - and for the most part unjustified.
And Giana, as an always friendly guide with great expertise, could not change that.

Thank you for unearthing Kangaroo Island with us and for sharing your experience with other travellers.
I'm happy to hear you especially enjoyed seeing the abundant wildlife on the island - from the sea lions to the echidnas, kangaroos and koalas!
Our Guides are the heart and soul of our company so we are so happy to hear you found Gianna as delightful as we do. It's unfortunate your trip was slightly tarnished by the negative couple. It's a very rare occurrence but once in a while, we get people on our adventure tours that should perhaps have chosen a different style of travel. We're glad to hear Gianna handled it well and you still had a fabulous time.
We hope to welcome you back on another Untamed Escape sometime soon.
Until then, travel safe.

The sites visited are interesting, but do not expect, at least in September, to meet many animals. In 3 days we saw a dozen kangaroos, 3 coals, 1 iguana, many seals in the reserves, and various types of birds. No sign of dolphins and whales. What we have seen can be condensed into 1 day. Accommodation is at least spartan, although the agency specified it. The area where you eat, especially the kitchen, lack cleanliness. Our Guide, Mrs. Gianna, with the excuse of saving water, and not wasting food, gave no alternative to the menu you set. In the two breakfasts made, the first only corn flakes and muesli, and because requested bread in insufficient quantity, the second pancake, and only at our request, unkindly pulled out, a pack of corn flakes. In the two dinners made, the first abundant mashed potatoes, but also made with the skins, and a kangaroo head skewer, for my wife tofu, plus a sausage each, Overall an insufficient amount. No bread because rationed. The second night soup with overcooked pasta, and bad quality vinegar in abundance, and not even 2 slices of toasted bread per head.In the end we were given 2 cookies each made by the Guide. The first lunch was the best, as the following were mainly leftovers from the night before, with some additions of fresh vegetables. The third lunch had as main course the soup of the previous evening, which was inedible even hot, too bad that it was proposed cold, and the purée of two nights before. The refrigerator seemed well stocked, but probably the food was meant for others. There were some kind of piadine, 1 garlic and 1 unspecified herbs..... The first 2 days there was fruit, then finished, and snacks. The bus carrying us, which was very reminiscent of the Cuban school buses of the 1950s, was poorly cleaned and worn. Dishes for 6 at lunch were washed by participants in a basin of dubious cleanliness, and dried with a tea towel that was used for many other purposes..... If adventure means lack of hygiene this is the perfect tour!!! Overall an experience that we strongly advise against.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As the business owner, I value all feedback as it helps us continually improve our experiences. For over 20 years, my team and I have worked hard to deliver exceptional adventures, so on the rare occasion we receive a complaint, we take it very seriously.
While I take responsibility for any justified issues, feedback from the guide and other passengers suggests that this style of camping adventure may not have aligned with your personal preferences. There was actually a comment in a TripAdvisor review that said, "Overall, a great trip; I would recommend it. The experience was only marred by two fellow travellers who were fundamentally negative about everything—and mostly unjustified. Giana, as an always friendly guide with great expertise, could not change that."
Other passengers highlighted the abundance of wildlife, including kangaroos hopping near the camp, wild koalas, an iguana, sea lions at Seal Bay, and numerous bird species such as geese, pelicans, and cormorants. Our itinerary does not state you will see dolphins or whales.
Giana, who is a vegan herself, took great care in preparing a diverse range of meals to accommodate all dietary preferences. We also follow strict food handling and cleanliness protocols, which were adhered to throughout your tour.
Regarding the vehicle, the bus used for your trip is a well-maintained Toyota Coaster that exceeds all safety and legal requirements. Our consistently high ratings reflect the high standards we uphold.
I apologise that this experince didn't meet your expectations.
Thank you again for your feedback. Should you wish to discuss this further, I am more than happy to do so.
Kind regards,

This trip was amazing! I had the best time! And as a solo traveller it was a great bunch with a mixture of people who were all so lovely! The tour was packed full and I think it could be even better if it was a 4 day tour to fit a bit more in and spend a little longer at places. The guides were amazing and food was so good and dietary needs were SO well catered for! Would highly recommend!

My friend and I had a fantastic time on this three day tour! We saw wild kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, sea lions, and geckos - and we were lucky enough to see an echidna, too. The stops were all enjoyable and there was a pleasant amount of walking involved. Our guide, Gianna, was as personable as she was professional and catered expertly to every tourgoer's needs. Recommended, especially for those who have never been to Kangaroo Island before!

Kangeroo island is gorgeous and you can see a lot of animals like koala's, Kangaroo's, echidna, dolphins and whales. The first two days of the tour were really nice. Lovely to meet star the kangeroo at the emu ridge. The last day was a bit messy and needs to be reorganized, felt like just filling time. The 7.30 ferry is also a bit too late. I feel like the kangeroo island wildlife park needs to be part of the program because it is a highlight, would have loved to go. Tour guides were great and fun, loved the evening camp!! Evening meals were amazing.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we're so glad you enjoyed Kangaroo Island's beautiful wildlife and our tour overall! We appreciate your comments about the final day and the ferry time and understand your concerns. Unfortunately, the 3-hour conservation activity planned for that had to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control, which left us with a gap in the schedule. Our Guide did their best to accommodate this on the day, and we now have a backup plan as a contingency if this falls through in the future.
Regarding the wildlife park, we respect your desire to visit it. However, we do not include it in our itinerary as some of their activities do not align with our wildlife policy.
We continually strive to improve, and your input is invaluable. We're thrilled you enjoyed the tour guides, camp, and evening meals—those are highlights for us, too! Thank you again for travelling with us. We hope to welcome you back soon for more adventures!
Warm regards,

We saw a lot of animals. My highlights were the visit to the seal colony and the one with the volunteers at a rescue center for injured animals, where we were able to feed young kangaroos. But the koalas, where we stopped on a tip, and the echidna that crossed the road on the day of our arrival were also absolutely amazing.
On our trip, the tour guide had just finished training his successor. This meant that we had two tour guides, both of whom were more than average and provided an unforgettable experience and additional information. If I had six stars to give, I would give six.

KI is just amazing. Sleeping in a swag in an absolutely beautiful place is just so nice. Our guide Ric is such an awesome guide. He tries very hard to make the trip worth it. And also he makes amazing food for us. I also met so many interesting people. Best tour ever had!

Thank you for joining us on this adventure on nature's playground! I'm thrilled to hear that you found our 3-Day Kangaroo Island Tour to be the best tour you've had. It's wonderful to hear that you had a great time sleeping out under the stars in a swag. It's a unique experience which everyone should try at least once. I'm also happy to hear you had a great time with Rick and enjoyed his food!
We hope to welcome you back on another Untamed Escape sometime soon.
Until then, travel safe.
Best wishes,
Hassie
