- 104daa0 contributionsPerfect day out - Wine, friends, experience! My Partner and I came down to Adelaide for a few days; this will be our 3rd trip as it’s such a beautiful city and of course the wine! Hayley was our guide for this tour and was well on time. On our trip to and throughout the day, Hayley shared bits of information relevant to each area which was really nice rather than an awkward car ride to places. We stopped at 1837 to take some photos and enjoy a quick view before heading off to each cellar. We went to (in order) Chateau Yaldara, Lambert Estate, Rusden and lastly Ubertas. I personally never heard of these Wineries before, but I am glad to have gone. Its tours like these, that really find hidden gems amongst all the rest. We had a beautiful lunch at Lambert Estate with local produce and enjoyed our wine tasting along side it. It was only 6 of us which was the perfect amount - we all got a long like a house on fire. Hayley was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly which really make the experience tie together. Would I do this again? Abso-bloody-lutely :) Thank you!Written 13 January 2025
- Victoria B0 contributionsA really great dayOur driver Phil really made the experience extra memorable. He was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly very experienced. He is an excellent driver and guide and able to anticipate potential challenges and avoid them.Written 13 January 2025

- rosekO5111GB0 contributionsHighly Recommend this Tour !!CP Tours were great from the start of the booking to the end of a good tour of the wineries., Our Driver Roy was informative and funny. And he capped off a top day with a final visit to an Animal Rescue where I was able to pat and feed a Kangaroo and cuddle a baby Koala. Amazing !! Thank you Roy.Written 2 January 2025
- Vivian H0 contributionsA well worth day in Barossa ValleyThe day before our tour, I got detailed messages about meeting time, location, driver and car and my question was answered promptly. On the day our driver/tour guide Chris waited us in front of cruise port gate. Took us to 4 cellar doors. Each one has different characteristics. We enjoyed every one of them and the sceneries of Barossa Valley!Written 26 December 2024
- LINH C0 contributionsVictor Harbour and Fleurieu PeninsulaWe had a wonderful day trip that included stops at Strathalbyn, Port Elliot, Victor Harbor and Port Noarlunga. We were lucky to have enough time to wander around Port Elliot and Port Noarlunga as we were told that the only stops scheduled for visitors to get off the tour bus were Strathalbyn and Victor Harbor. We liked the Scottish history and shops in Strathalbyn. We loved Victor Harbor's Horse drawn tram and the gorgeous Clydesdale horse, and enjoyed lunch at Hotel Victor. Horseshoe Bay in Port Elliot was beautiful as was the Port Noarlunga beach. Our tour bus driver Phil was very experienced and informative about all the places in the itinery. We like Phil's good humour and cheerfulness. Thank you to our driver Phil and CP Tours and Charters for an amazing day.Written 22 December 2024

- Ramanan B0 contributionsAn Intellectual and Sensory Odyssey: Exploring Victor Harbour and Fleurieu Peninsula with CP ToursAh, the Victor Harbor and Fleurieu Peninsula tour—an experience that I must admit, transcended mere tourism, and became a case study in well-orchestrated regional exploration, culinary delight, scenic beauty, and social interaction. My fellow travelers and I, a party of three, were fortunate to be guided by Paul—an exemplary tour guide whose communication, knowledge, and charm elevated this journey into a veritable study in camaraderie, scenery, and sensory satisfaction. This experience felt akin to a meticulously structured experiment where every detail was optimized to provide insights into travel, gastronomy, geography, and communal interaction. We began our journey with a coffee stop at a quaint regional café—a local establishment that felt like a hidden academic treasure trove of artisanal charm and community spirit. It was a caffeinated initiation that prepared us intellectually and emotionally for the unfolding sensory and scenic experiences. The coffee was robust, the atmosphere cozy, and the conversation (guided by Paul’s astute local knowledge) turned into an engaging exchange of stories and insights about the region's culture and history. Next, we proceeded to the Murray Mouth, a site that beautifully illustrates the confluence of nature and geography. Standing there, observing the water converge with mathematical elegance at the mouth of the river, I found myself marveling at the intricate interactions of ecosystems. It was a visual and intellectual feast that reaffirmed my appreciation for Australia's complex environmental landscapes. Our exploration continued with a delightful walk at Victor Harbor, where stunning coastal views met a picturesque atmosphere of scenic wonder. Victor Harbor demonstrated the kind of natural beauty that makes geography an endlessly fascinating subject of study. This was followed by a trip to Granite Island, where we enjoyed incredible fish and chips for lunch—a culinary experience that engaged taste buds with satisfying saltiness and crunchiness. Such gastronomic encounters are not just about food but about community, flavor science, and sensory engagement. The highlight, of course, was McLaren Vale, where we stopped at the iconic McLaren Vale Cube for a bit of wine tasting. Here, sensory perception met the art of viticulture. The wine tasting was not merely a leisure activity; it became an exercise in palate profiling and sensory evaluation, an analysis of taste notes, tannins, and bouquets—every sip a textbook lesson in regional oenology It was the kind of experience that demanded concentration, analysis, and appreciation of detail—exactly the kind of interaction I relish. The fact that this tour was customized for just three people, despite initially being booked as a public tour, is something I must commend. Such a tailored experience highlights CP Tours and Charters’ commitment to personalization and excellence. Paul, our guide, demonstrated patience, intelligence, and humor throughout the trip. He seamlessly combined informative anecdotes with light-hearted banter, ensuring that every interaction was engaging and enlightening. Paul was not just a guide; he was a conductor of conversation, a disseminator of knowledge, and a facilitator of social dynamics—a guide in the truest, most exemplary sense of the word. Conclusion: This tour was a flawless five-star experience—an amalgamation of scenic wonder, culinary exploration, social interaction, and educational insight. Victor Harbor and the Fleurieu Peninsula became more than mere destinations; they became lessons in geography, gastronomy, and community interaction. CP Tours and Charters delivered an experience that felt customized, personalized, and intellectually stimulating. The experience has left me with a desire to return to Adelaide, a city that now seems to beckon with promises of even more scenic, culinary, and cultural delights. I strongly recommend CP Tours and Charters to anyone with a curiosity for travel, an appreciation for scenic landscapes, an appetite for good food, and a love of insightful conversation and camaraderie It’s a journey that offers not just a vacation but a study in the joy of travel, taste, landscape, and intelligent companionship—exactly the kind of experience that makes life, travel, and science marvelously interconnected endeavors.Written 17 December 2024
- Departure7105140 contributionsHighly recommend this Barossa Valley wine tour by CP toursI was one of Eleven happy, friendly people who became even happier and more friendly after visiting four wineries! Our driver, Phil, gave us a running commentary on the Barossa Valley and the different wineries we visited (Chateau Yaldera, Lambert, Rusden, and Ubertas). Three of the wineries were charming, small and family owned. Even the castle-like Chateau Yaldera had humble origins. The fourth winery, Lambert, had a more corporate/slick vibe, but the wine was fine, and the lunch served there was very good. Phil was pretty knowledgeable about the area, and even took us to a lookout view of the entire Barossa Valley, beautiful! Finally, even though Phil was very mindful of the time, we were not rushed along at all, had a wonderful experience, and were returned to the ship dock with time to spare before sailing away.Written 15 December 2024

- Compass7378900 contributionsA great trip to the Barossa ValleyWe had a great day out on our wine tasting tour to the Barossa Valley. I received a message the day before confirming pick-up details, name of tour guide, and vehicle to look out for. The group was small enough to really get to know people; the van air conditioned and comfortable. Hayley, our tour guide was great. She filled us in on all sorts of interesting facts along the way and was happy to answer questions. We visited four very different vineyards. Having done this trip, I'd definitely recommend it; and I'd use CP Tours and Charters for other trips in the future.Written 29 November 2024

Roy was awesome, even his Dad jokes🤣 We loved the older style wineries over the more modern looking ones, mainly for the old buildings etc, would’ve preferred more of these. We had a great bunch of people on our tour, which can make all the difference. Lots of laughs! Roy went out of his way to make our tour personal & fun.Written 29 November 2024
- Alison2970 contributionsA day to rememberFrom the moment we boarded we knew we were going to have a great time. Roy our driver was extremely entertaining and had a whole bag of jokes up his long sleeves, it definitely kept us all amused on the journey. We had a mixed group of 4 young ladies in their 20’s and 6 oldies(50+) and we all got on like a house on fire, so much so that we were all exchanging details at the end. We visited 4 different wineries, all having a different experience with countless tastings and a delicious deli lunch in the 2nd one. Roy surprised us all on the journey back with a stop at a wildlife sanctuary where we held baby kangaroos, orphaned after their mums had been hit as a result of a roadkill. The lady who ran it was an absolute angel and of course we all dug deep into our pockets. Thanks again Roy for a day we will never forget!Written 28 November 2024

It was a fantastic day trip through Murray Bridge, Hahndorf on the way to the Captain Proud Paddleboat for our cruise on the mighty Murray River. Our tour bus driver was Roy and he made us chuckle during the long drive to our destinations with some fun and unoffensive jokes. We saw lovely scenery at Mount Lofty Summit, spent half an hour at the wonderful Beerenberg where free tastings of jams and sauces were offered. Captain Steve steered the paddleboat and was delightful and provided great commentary during the three-hour long cruise. The staff onboard were friendly and professional. The mains onboard the boat tasted okay and the dessert was delicious. We had Chicken Schnitzel with mushroom sauce, Vegetarian Lasagne then Strawberry icecream and Fresh Fruit Salad with vanilla icecream. The strawberry icecream was vanilla icecream drizzled with strawberry sauce and had one strawberry on top rather than the icecream being strawberry flavoured. The fruit salad had blueberries which we love. We chose a day of brilliant weather (32 degrees C) for our Captain Proud lunch cruise and the three hours passed quickly as there was plenty of action on the water to watch such as people on jet skis and kayaking. Our final stop was the historic German town of Hahndorf where we had an hour to explore the shops and eateries. We recommend the Frozen Yoghurt shop, Otto's Bakery and the German Cuckoo Clocks shop. The Parlour Icecreamery was closed at the time we visited Hahndorf. Thank you Roy and CP Tours and Charters for an excellent day.

A huge thank you to Vesna for making this a very enjoyable day.
Picked us up from our accommodation in a spotless, comfortable VW luxury van and very thoughtfully amended the destinations and sightseeing to suit the group of four.
The cruise on the Paddle Steamer was outstanding and lunch was scrumptious, so very relaxing.
Highly recommend CP Tours.

The whole tour with a small group of seasoned travellers from all states of Australia was wonderful and our driver Vesna was the best host providing us with all the information on the tour. The cruise on the Murray River was very relaxing and the choices of lunch was very good and looked yummy between all our selections. And the wines and cocktails for purchase were very well priced and not over the top like some other business' have done in Covid hit times. I would recommend this tour for a day

On 28th April 2023. Our trip was spoilt by the shuttle van tour guide. She turned up half an hour earlier at 8am as our pickup point clearly stated at 8:30am - we even got the confirmation message in the morning. We were down in a shot when the Hilton reception called us but we were greeted with shouting/ screaming from the tour guide. We were shocked. We got earful from her whilst in the shuttle van and she demanded us to apologize to all the other tourists. She wouldn't hear our explanation that the last message we got was 8:30am pick up point. She already gossiped to all the passengers and one of them said to her that it wouldn't make any difference (10mins late) because she would be stuck at their hotel traffic earlier as a group of musician band was unloading gears. Grumpy face we got from the tour guide that created an unpleasant atmosphere amongst tourists. She never explained much during the van ride but just talking to a particular couple. The River Cruise was ok but the waiter was in a hurry in removing our dishes whilst we were still eating - we were served last as there were other Greek community group party going in the boat and we were at located at the back of the deck. Earlier, when we embarked the boat from the quayside, we witnessed an elderly passenger slipped and fell hard on the corridor floor after she crossed and stepped off the ladder because the captain let go off her hand. She wasn't guided at all as the floor was very wet and slippery. Thankfully she recovered from shock. On our return, as we disembarked the boat, we quickly took a picture of the boat as we walked, the captain gone totally berserk at us who repeatedly screamed and scolded "get of the *** peer and blar..blar!!" Some very rude words. He continued scolding us as we were rushed outside the quayside. Those Greek crowd were still in the ship wrapping up their party and they weren't behind us at all. The captain made mocking faces to a standby fellow whilst continued scolding me. I had enough of his earful scolding and replied "I heard you" but he continued being abusive. He was very very racist. It was a bad experience overall. We wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone. :( :(

Derk. I am in complete shock after reading this review in all the years of our operation I have never read any bad word about any of my driver's on any of my tours behaving in this type of manner ever. I have also check the 28th of April pick up logs and we did not even have allocated pickup for the Hilton Hotel for Friday the 28th of April and all our pickups on that day were for different hotels. I also have no booking under your name Derk on the date 28th but that's not saying it is not booked under a different name. Another strange mention here that you received contact in the morning as we don't generally contact customers in the morning at all and we contact customers the night before the tour to give them their pickup times by a personal phone call or a texted message to the phone number provided on your booking giving you your vehicle description your driver's name and the time expected at your hotel. When contact cannot be made with a customer we then leave a message with hotel reception giving these details to pass on. Pursuing any complaints of my tour drivers is going to be very easy for me to follow up as all tour drivers are allocated their tours by me and indeed as I mentioned above we did not even have an allocated pick up for the Hilton Hotel on that date and you did mention the Hilton Hotel. You have also mentioned the attitude of the Captain on the vessel and staff on the vessel and although this operation is separate from my operation I have personally known staff operating the vessel for over 20 years including all 3 captains. I am sorry that you have experienced anything like you have mentioned from any operator and I am still in complete shock about what you are saying happened on the vessel and attitude of a driver who has had nothing but great reviews in the year she has worked for me. I am also puzzled that I have no pick up at the Hilton Hotel for the 28th of April 2023 all my pickups are recorded into a database booking system however please rest assured I will be following this up further and checking other dates around the 28th April. I am in total shock of your statement here and still being very puzzled I took an extra step and checked the reviews from other passengers for your days tour on the vessel website and ours with no complaints just great reviews. However please rest assured you have my personal attention on this matter especially when it comes to employees that work for me as taking our guests on what is meant to be a pleasurable experience. Please feel free to follow this up with me for further discussion on the contact phone number on our website CP tours and charters. Can you also please give me any other details because I do not have any booking on the 28th April for a customer under your booking name of Derk on the 28th of April OR at the Hilton Hotel recorded on my booking system.
Very Puzzling

Some commentary from the tour guide would have been helpful considering this was a tour. The driver also didn’t have a microphone.
All on bus felt unsafe with the drivers driving skills.
Instead of dropping the majority back to the city on the way back from the tour (we drove past it), the driver took a couple to Glenelg first which added over an hour to everybody else.

Vicki. Sorry that you had not enjoy your day. I would however like to make some comment. Firstly your driver on that day was my wife Vesna who is a very safe driver and when I question this about her driving she actually reminded me that she told me that night a car came out and she had to go for her brake harder than she would normally you may or may not have been aware of that at the time. With the commentaries we do not use microphones in our vehicles over the years we have had complaints from people with hearing aids that the portable speakers actually course feedback tones within their hearing aids which is quite annoying to the point they turn their hearing aids off. Vesna is always happy to explain where you have stopped and the region which she does at every stop and not always while driving. Going to Glenelg before going back to the city is just Logistics if you go to the city first you are then in peak hour traffic all the way to drop off at Glenelg which is very slow and then she has to come back towards the city to go home but going to Glenelg first she then comes back into the city against the flow of peak hour traffic and then she can leave from the city to the east side for her to go home Glenelg happens to be on the west opposite side so again this was just Logistics.

This tour does not operate as stated on a Sunday. We had the misfortune of going on a Sunday and had 10 minutes in Hahndorf as they don't give the 2 hours advertised for our trip on a Sunday.
Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with this tour as it did not follow the clear itinerary as set out on the website. The driver took us to Mount Lofty Summit which sadly was very misty. He then took us directly to Hahndorf, (we did NOT visit the Thorngrove Manor Hotel at all) and we simply drove through the Main Street of Hahndorf then on to Beerenberg Farm. He took the three of us back to Hahndorf to the tourist centre and by the time he parked we had about 10 minutes to tour that town which is obviously totally inadequate. He stated that we had to leave the area no later than 11:00am in order to connect with the paddle wheeler.

Steven I'm sorry you did not enjoy your day due to the timing of both the vessel departing at 12 p.m. your pickup time at 8:30 a.m. and limited time you had in the morning to visit Hahndorf. However I would like to stipulate that we have never had a Hahndorf stopover of 2 hours as it would be absolutely impossible to manage the time to arrive for the vessel departure.
When I discovered that some booking agents have been saying 2 hours in Hahndorf I contacted them and had it them change their descriptions.
On any Sunday the Vessel will depart at 12pm and therefore we need to arrive at 11:45 a.m. given the pickup times in Adelaide for our passengers then travel time to Mt Lofty as you would be surprised many people love this lookout regardless whether the fog is there or it is a clear day then travel to Hahndorf and then the travel time to Murray Bridge to be boarding at 11:45 a.m. it is sometimes impossible to give you long periods in Hahndorf and meet the timetable of the vessel being the main section of this whole tour. If we have left later from Hahndorf and miss the vessel then there would be real trouble with rest of the passengers not getting their cruise.
The driver was right when he said he had to leave Hahndorf at 11 a.m. in order to connect with the paddlewheeler as it's almost an hour's drive and we need to be boarding at 11:45 which is only 45 minutes of time to get there I wonder how you would have felt if we arrived at the Vessel if the driver stayed in Hahndorf longer and the vessel had already departed? so we must take all of this into consideration as it is the highlight of the whole tour.
On any other day of the week other than a Sunday we actually do Hahndorf after the cruise this is because the vessel will arrive back in Murray Bridge at 2 p.m. and an hour's drive to Hahndorf we arrive there at 3 p.m. and we'll leave Hahndorf around 4:15 to 4:30 p.m. to get you back to your hotel by 5 p.m. but even then you can see it is impossible to be a 2-hour stay.
Rest assured that viator has been advised not to state 2 hours in their marketing and as other booking agents have also been advised the in their marketing of our products it should just state a stopover or a taste of Hahndorf because this particular tour the highlight is a 3 Hour river cruise on the side paddlewheeler and a 2 course lunch with a sightseeing opportunity between Adelaide and return to Hotel.
Once again Steven thank you for this review and for my opportunity to clarify it.

Greig

The trip was fine, the tour guide was very helpful, the van clean & plenty of water on board,we enjoyed the Hahndoff time, although as a Sunday tour, a lot wasn’t open till 10/10.30am. So why arrive so early? Very pretty town, interesting shops, the river cruise,? well the people on board were great, pleasant, informative, they all worked very hard, & it wasn’t a full boat. But honestly the food was just, well so below average why does the company think that is satisfactory!! And for 3hr cruise way too long, plus a 20min trying to dock was a bit weird,, something to do with the wind, so we had to shorten the trip to Loft lookout, which is worth a longer stop off, The tour & guide was great, but the river cruise substandard

Warren, I'm sorry that your cruise did not work out as you had expected. I understand there was delays in being able to berth the vessel because after the shutdown of 3 months due to the floods and to re-establish the cruises 2 days prior we were given an unfamiliar wharf while ours is under repair and with the wind it does take a little bit of time to get a 73 ft paddlewheeler in to berth correctly. They have to be carefully with the temporary wharf as to not damage it therefore the captains will opt to go around again this is unfortunate but the wind and large 100 ton vessel it will take them a little time but they will get used to that little wharf. I'm unsure what happened with your meals I've had other comments made for the same day and many responded to us they loved the meals. The meals are simple they have to be to be able to serve up to 70 people when the boat is full within the time periods so they are really just very simple but have always been tasty meals so again I am not sure and apologise that you were unsatisfied with your particular meal but I will follow that up though.
Best Regards
Greig.

Had a great trip on the Captain Proud once we got there, with friendly staff and an interesting trip but found our coach driver to be very disappointing, in so far as he reversed the route of the bus so that we went through Hahndorf in the morning and Bridgewater Mill in the afternoon. We were at Hahndorf around 9:30AM when most shops were shut, we were hustled out of there to go to another stop up the road for coffee, rushed out of there to get to Murray Bridge 30 minutes early so he took us to their railway station, which was totally wated time. Most people were disappointed at having no time to spend in Hahndorf and Bridgewater too was basically a drink stop. If rated separately I would give 4/5 for boat and 1/5 for coach trip.

John I'm sorry that you were not aware that this trip is completely reversed on a Sunday and on a Sunday only. This is due to the vessel leaves later on a Sunday and therefore there would not be time to do anything after the cruise so the drivers we're instructed to do the Hahndorf sightseeing in the morning and just one stop in the afternoon. This only happens on a Sunday every other day. The boat does leave 1 hour earlier in the late morning allowing us the opportunity to do the tours of Hahndorf and the region in the afternoon. I am sorry that this was not the case on your day being a Sunday and unfortunately it will be the same on every other following Sunday. Most passengers are aware of this by our drivers. I am very happy you enjoyed the cruise.
Happy Travels and best regards

The first stop at Beerenburg for coffee, scones jam and cream was lovely, the scones were amazing. We were quite disappointed with the cruise on the Murray river. Lunch was very basic and the tiny salad with no dressing was wilted. Nothing to see along the river however the people who shared the table with us were fun. Hahndorf was lovely but very touristy, beer was good though. We wouldn’t recommend this tour at $189 each, it didn’t live up to our expectations

Les, I'm sorry you did not enjoy the views on the river. It is in part of the river that doesn't have a lot of cliffs like you do see in the glossy magazines, but there are interesting factors in the wetlands as you travel past, especially looking at them from the higher top deck. Little bit disappointed to hear about the salad. There is always condiments at the main bar. They don't normally put it on the tables as there a few tables in the dining area but it is available when requested. Not sure what happened to the salad. I will check this with the people preparing the meals on the vessel to ensure future oversights and maybe clear description of where the condiments are will be met in the future. I am so glad that you liked hand off and the scones. Hope the rest of the tour off of the vessel was ok as well .
Happy travels!

We had a lovely day exploring the Adelaide Hills and Murray Bridge areas. First stop was at the Mt Lofty Lookout where we had a wonderful view of Adelaide and beyond to the Yorke Peninsula. We then made our way to Murray Bridge where we boarded our paddle wheeler boat for a 3 hour lunch cruise which was very enjoyable and informative (see seaparate review). We then made our way to Hahndorf for a 2 hour stop which personally I thought was too long as we were just waiting for pick up time for the last hour. My only criticism of this tour was that we were advised we would be doing a walk around Thorngrove Manor and a stop at Bridgewater Mill to look at the old mill but we did neither (just a drive by Thorngrove). We did however stop at the town of Stirling which was very picturesque with the beautiful Autumn colours of reds and pinks, however this was not what was promised. I imagine this may have been because the driving part of the day was outsourced to another tour company. Overall we enjoyed the day, and would recommend this tour as it's a great day out!

Thank you MCEC2015 for leaving your review. Yes we had engaged a contract driver to do this particular tour as all our cars were already engaged but this driver has been with us for quite some time. His tour company has a similar itinerary to ours but not quite the same. I'm still very happy you enjoyed your day out though and more happy that you enjoyed your day previously with me in the Barossa as per the previous review. We hope when you return you will try one our other tours which I will personally do for you.
Best regards Greig

What is the vaccination criteria for passengers
Written 7 May 2022
Hi
We did this in February and there were no vaccination restrictions. That was when things were much stricter covidwise than they are today. I would therefore guess there would be no restrictions. Enjoy the trip, it was great

Hi Josie
I think they pick up from several hotels in Adelaide. We stayed at the Oaks Embassy Suites but I know there were several pickups and drop offs from other hotels. Enjoy your trip, this one was worth it! Sheila
