The only one thing more pleasurable than learning about wine is tasting it. South Australia is known as the "Wine State" it certainly has some wonderful wines. Although I have toured many of the State's wine regions, I must say that this tour and tasting was a revelation. I have toured this centre several times, and I am always amazed by the diversity of Australian wIne.

We had a great tour and glad we paid the extra to have a guided tour with Andrew Bruce, who was a great host and gave us all the little extra insights into this country’s wonderful wine industry. Andrew selected some superb wines to taste at the end of our tour, which put us in the perfect mood for lunch. How lucky we are to have this great facility available to us in our own back yard.

We did the Australian Wine Discovery Tour with Tastings which was great. I’d like to highlight Patrick who guided us through the tastings. Super helpful, knowledgeable great sense of humour and with a lot of passion for what he’s doing he made the tastings much more enjoyable and added to the experience.

After the tastings we opted to add on the “feed me” package which was amazing. We could not finish all the beautiful offerings they had for food but had a great time coupling the food with the great selection of wines in the gallery, accompanied with live music.

Really enjoyed each part of this tour, we started with a tour of the facility which provided us with an overview of what the centre does, who operates it and shows some of the facilities, our guide Tim was very knowledgeable on all of the subjects he discussed with us.
We then proceeded to hear a history of wine in Australia and some international history of wine, which was very interesting. We learnt about the types of grapes as well as the wine making process.
After this we had a tasting paired with canapés - both the good and wine was AMAZING! We sampled 4 wines which was all local.
Such a great experience if you are a foodie and wish to know more about wine.

Such an undervalued resource and what a fabulous experience for anyone interested in wine and its Australian heritage. We loved our tour and tasting with Michael. He is extremely knowledgeable and we learnt a lot. We also got some valuable tips for future wine purchases. The building itself is iconic; a very impressive and arresting design (by Philip Cox). Should be on top of any to-do list while visiting Adelaide.

Wow what an icon at my back door. Have always said we must come here one day and yesterday was the day. Thank you to Amanda for our tour. It was so interesting and Amanda was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions.
We then had the privilege of meeting Andrew for our tasting. Andrew knew his craft and was a pleasure to chat with. We actually thought we knew a lot but he opened up a whole new way of grapes in areas and why they are the best in regions.
Thank you so much so informative. BTW good coffee is a hit as well

The tour with Andrew (AB) was very comprehensive and very educational. Certainly worth the money. AB is a fantastic host and went out of his way to answer all our questions. I had the lamb shoulder for lunch- it was amazing!

I love wine tasting so this seemed ideal especially as the building can be found in the grounds of the Botanical Gardens so a 2 for one package really. Easily accessible due to the free trams operating in the CBD area of Adelaide. 120 wines that can be tasted in 3 different volumes that you select yourself. Tasting/half glass or full glass. You collect a card from a member of staff giving them a credit card or driving licence to keep until you redeem your card at the end of the tasting. Insert card into the machine, select the wine and amount you want and hold the glass under the dispenser. The machine shows you the running total on your card and the prices of each wine. You can order lunch and eat it with a glass of your favourite wine too. The cheese and charcuterie boards are fantastic as you choose your preferred selection of meats and cheeses. Could do with a member of staff available to advise on the wine though.

A fantastic tour through the National Wine Centre with an emphasis of highlighting the evolution of the wine industry in Australia. The tour covered the wine making process, the different wine regions of Australia, the role of climate in wine production and the risks posed to wine in Australia. The wine tasting to conclude the tour was a fantastic overview of the wide variance in Australian wine.
