About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- J6360PGsuec0 contributionsSo Worth DoingWe loved the tour with Broni on which we got to sample unusual foods etc and learnt about the history of various stallholders. It was so worth it - compared to wandering around the markets on one’s own and being overwhelmed.Written 14 January 2025
- Jamie0220 contributionsHighly Enjoyable TourI took a highly enjoyable tour of the Adelaide Central Market with Broni as our guide. There were 5 people in the group, which was a perfect size. Broni was extremely knowledgeable about not only the market and its history but also Adelaide and gave us tips about the city and getting around. We toured the entire market and had many tastes, and when we were curious about stalls and delicacies that weren't on the tour, she stopped and answered those questions too. She clearly knew most of the proprietors and sellers and made it a great experience.Written 14 January 2025
- ganesanc20200 contributionsEat and learn about history tooIt was really interesting learning about the history of the markets and the families that have been running some of the places. Also get to try some great foodWritten 14 December 2024
- cameronmI9563SY0 contributionsAdelaide Central Market TourAlthough semi-regular visitors to the Adelaide Central Market, the tour gave us a greater appreciation of how really special the market is. Thank you to Tony our Guide. Great job.Written 4 December 2024
- 153marianl0 contributionsYou must do this! This is a must do in Adelaide. The market is one of the world's best but made an even better experience thanks to the expert guidance and in depth knowledge of the guides. Broni was fabulous - informative and fun to be with. The tastings were lovely and the whole experience will be one of our best memories of our Australian holiday. David - Broni deserves a pay rise!Written 13 November 2024
- M9013XHkatherinel0 contributionsInterestingThe tour itself was informative and travelled at the right pace. It was interesting to find out the history of the market and owners of the stalls. Unfortunately the meeting place instructions were unclear making finding the tour and being on time more stressful then it should have.Written 28 October 2024
- N6453ZFlaurenp0 contributionsAmazingWe were so impressed with this tour! We learnt so much about the history of the market stalls and the families behind them, as well as enjoying some lovely tastings! We were able to go back and buy things from our favourite stalls after the tour and we spent a few hours in total there as there is so much to see! Will definitely be recommending this to everyone we know.Written 14 September 2024
- Sightsee495403951960 contributionsGreat tour for historical perspective of markets and finding some hidden gems amongst the market stallsHaving moved to Adelaide 3 years ago, I would go to the Adelaide Central Markets periodically, but going on the discovery tour provided a historical perspective that I found very interesting and also introduced me to a range of stalls that I had never really taken any notice of before. Being able to taste / try some of their produce / goods enabled me to determine whether I was interested in buying their goods more frequently. I have also taken interstate visitors on this tour (3 separate times over the last 12 months) to introduce them to the market and have a lovely tasting experience which they have all enjoyed. Broni the Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. She has a lovely rapport with the stall owners which makes the whole experience feel inclusive.Written 16 August 2024
- shaunaughb20240 contributionsA great Saturday morning at the Adelaide Central MarketsA great introduction to the market. Interesting overview of the history and some great tastings of unusual and tasty foods . Broni was well prepared and knowledgeable.. couldn’t ask for a better way to check out the markets. Definitely recommend.Written 9 July 2024
- C245QIaliciah0 contributionsGreat tour if you are a tourist or lovalGreat tour. We are locals but learnt so much about the wonderful institution in our own backyard. I have a deeper love and appreciation for the central market- and have a couple of new faves to try for lunch!Written 5 July 2024
- 800helena0 contributionsThe fresh and flavoursome taste of Central MarketA special shout out to Broni! What a fantastic tour of the Central Market she gave my cousin and I. As a ‘local’ who moved to Adelaide from Scotland a few years ago it was a great to be a tourist for the day and learn more about the market. I normally would run in, grab what I needed and leave. The opportunity to stop at stalls and taste different foods was great. I enjoyed it so much I returned to some of the stalls (the ones I could remember where they were ) to buy their produce. I will be rebooking again in the future for my visitors. Definitely value for money!Written 19 May 2024
- 891lyndallf0 contributionsMust do in AdelaideGreat tour with great tastings. Really enjoyed the experience-such a fantastic part of Adelaide history with so much to see and do. Lovely guide who was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Highly recommend for locals and visitors.Written 18 May 2024

- dianewV2055GQ0 contributionsWell worth the timeEven though we live in South Australia and have visited the Central Market many times over the years there was so much we didn't know. This tour gave so much insight into the history and current array of traders and products it was wonderful. We got to try produce that in all honesty I would have walked past. Instead, thanks to Broni and the generosity of a variety of traders, we were able to experience many new culinary delights. A big shout out and thanks to Broni for her friendly and insightful tour. Would definitely recommend this tour, sometimes it's worth to be a tourist in your own town 😀Written 2 March 2024

We were greeted at 8.30 am by Cheryl who was the tour coordinator for Adelaide Central Market Tours. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast and coffee at the famous Lucia's. Greg was our tour guide who is a local Adelaidian who has been shopping at the Market for 40 years and seems is well known to the stallholders. Our group of 8 included an American couple fron New Hampshire and a couple from Brisbane QLD.We were treated to sampling at many of the stalls including hot salami (recommend "bumburner"), bush tucker (you must sample the flavours!), Columbian pastries and French pastries.
Our guide was informative of the past, present and future history of the Market plus the backgrounds of the stallhoders and how and when they started operation - some are 3rd generation!
My wife and I are from Adelaide and found the tour opened our eyes to what a marvelous institution we have on our doorstep.

My husband and I are currently reside in NT (just out of Katherine) and are on a much needed holiday in Adelaide. We both come from SA and were familiar with the Central Markets but when we lived here over 20 years ago we never really got the opportunity to come to the markets regularly. So, knowing how much we love food and how much we miss having fresh produce (you don't get this quality where we come from) I booked a breakfast tour with Cheryl.
We started with a lovely big breakfast and then on for an amazing tour. After coming from a small dirty, stinking hot grubby town with just a woolies (whose produce is not fresh) I can't tell you how overwhelming everything was. In fact I actually cried because this is how food should be. For me it was an overload of smells and colours that I wasn't used to. The stall owners are so passionate about their produce and it shows, I wanted to buy everything.
This tour is a must, it honestly is. In fact if we are lucky to come back next year with our son and his girlfriend we will rebook.
I need to talk about our tour guide Cheryl. I would pay just to have a coffee with this lady. She was amazing. At the start she asked us what type of food we liked so that she could sort out tastings to suit our needs. Honestly, a couple of the dishes were the best we've had in a very long time. In fact, after the tour we spent up big. We even organised for some bits and pieces to be mailed to our son in Sydney (thank you to those stall owners). Cheryl is clearly loved by the stall owners and is very knowledgeable. She is very passionate about the Central Markets and to be honest the company that runs these tours is very lucky to have her.
Honestly, if you love food and have never beed to these markets then please book a tour with Cheryl, you won't regret it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Cheryl, this has been the highlight of my holiday so far.

Wow - thank you for such a wonderful review - so glad we were able showcase the beautiful products available at the Central Market. Please get in touch when you get home if you would like to organise shipment of products to the NT.
Safe travels and hope to see you again in the future

My sister and I did the breakfast market tour on Saturday morning. We were met by Clarisse just before 8.30am, where she guided us to Lucia's for our awesome breakfast and made sure that we were comfortable and got our food. The food & hot chocolate were excellent. My scrambled eggs and bacon were enormous. I will certainly be eating there again. At 9.30am we were met again by Clarisse and our other tourists. I learnt a large amount about some of the stalls and the history of the market, despite being a South Aussie and having visited the market many, many times. She took us to a diverse amount of stalls, including a South American stall, a mushroom stall and even a Turkish delight one. Can highly recommend this tour to anyone, tourist or local South Aussies alike. Well done Clarisse.

Disappointing and poor value for money. The tour guide did not provide much more than the names of stall holders and how long they'd been in the market. Samples consisted of tiny portions such as a minute piece of cheese, an apple, a strawberry dipped in chocolate, a tiny bit of honey syrup on a teaspoon, a very small muffin. It would have been good to learn about the providence of the food, how they produce it etc. The market is worth visiting, but much better to make your own way around the market and ask stall holders for a sample of produce. Breakfast provided would cost you around $15 if you weren't part of the tour - and you wouldn't be sitting for an hour waiting for the tour to start. Our experience was sadly not great, and we certainly were not offered an over abundance of food! Definitely not worth $130. Would not recommend.

Great tour. Told you the history of the markets took you to a variety of stalls and gave you free taste testers. We returned to as many stalls as we could after the tour to buy. Cheryl the tour guide knew her stuff and was great.

Several people had told us that if we were going to Adelaide we really MUST go to the Central Market, and we liked the sound of this tour. We had to be there for 08.30 and were then taken to one of the catering units for breakfast, following which we met our guide who gave us a brief history of the market before commencing the tour. We had tastings at several of the stalls and were quite amazed at the range of different foodstuffs available. The tour took about 1.5 hours and was well worthwhile.

We booked on the recommendation from a friend who had already done this tour. We were not disappointed, it was all fabulous. Our tour guide Cheryl was extremely knowledgable but also passionate about all aspects of the market, the food, the history, the people and the future of the site. Every item of food sampled was delicious. The only sad part was that were couldn't take food with us as we were flying out the next day.

Sherlye was extremely heplful and go beyond the tour. Very responsive to messages after booking. On the day, she shared us lots of information about Adelaide and recommended places to visit while we are having the breakfast. Then Clarrise took over the actual tour part who did an amzing job as well!! The tour is informative, interesting, lots of food tasting. Both stories and tastings open your eyes. A must do in Adelaide!

As a pair of foodie lovers this was one of the best tours we took while in Adelaide. Breakfast was superb at SiSea inside the market and had the best coffee in all Adelaide. Bridie was our guide, and her knowledge of all the food producers and their products was unsurpassed. If you are in Adelaide don't miss one of these tours.
