About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- LASAuckland0 contributionsIf you have one or even just half a day in Adelaide - do this!I did the self-guided e-bike nature tour (without the winery tour option). It was a great way to spend half a day or more in Adelaide. Ian was so helpful, even picking me up from the train station, which was an easy 35 mins from Adelaide central, and upgrading me to a full-suspension e-bike, with additional gel seat (as I'm not a hard-core mountain biker). The GPS worked really well and it was a great trip where I covered a lot of distance, got to see a lot of wildlife (had to break suddenly as an emu crossed my path!) and suited my level of biking, which is more trail rider than mountain biker. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who has a day to spare in Adelaide, and the train station is right next to the convention centre, so its a great trip to add to the end of your conference, like I did!Written 14 November 2024
- Dldove0 contributionsSaved my Adelaide weekendI'm grateful to have found Escapegoat after my kayak tour was cancelled at the last minute. The self guided ebike tour is a great option to see the quiet Adelaide hills area only 20 minutes from CBD. Ian made it easy by giving me pick-up options and maps on GPS and my watch. Can highly recommend as an active and scenic day out. Thank you Ian.Written 5 November 2024
- embeullens0 contributionsFantastic day, so much funWe did the self-guided e-bike tour to Tapanappa winery and had the BEST day. Definitely more appropriate for intermediate riders rather than beginners, but a great way to explore the Adelaide Hills and enjoy stunning views from the summit of Mt Lofty. Thanks to Ian and team for looking after us.Written 10 October 2024

- 990russellc0 contributionsWildlife bike tour with GeoffAwesome day, easy to book picked up on time. The bike ride was interesting and took in the local area well. Came across kangaroo " family" only 5 minutes into the ride. The Cleland wildlife park was well worth the time and enjoyed the coffee and snack to warm up by the central fireplace. Geoff was our guide and looked after the group as there were several other couples on the ride as well. We enjoyed it so much we booked an all day ride for the Sunday.Written 22 April 2024

- CarolynH13810 contributionsA scenic fun activityThe Mount Lofty Descent Bike experience provided a brillant opportunity to show cast Adelaide in it's full glory. The tour starts with a short, relaxing drive to the summit and an incredible panoramic view over the city. The ride was refreshingly cool esp since Adelaide had temperatures in the high 30's. I enjoyed exercising with a few achieveable challanges 'here & there'. My highlight was being able to 'ride and chat' to my friends whilst spotting koalas in the trees. Thank you Ian for providing a great day's experience.Written 11 February 2024
- IsabelD22930 contributionsTop of the range E-mountainbikes and top service.Made a great bike tour! Rented top of the range E-mountainbikes and got a route on our demand: over Mount Lofty, via two beautiful wineries. Trails were challenging and past gorgeous landscapes. Service was top.Written 3 February 2024
- Stephen C0 contributionsGreat MTB hire from EscapegoatHad a great time hiring an e bike from Escapegoat. Ian couldn't have been more helpful. Set up a self guided route on Garmin for us. 40k covered with wonderful trails and views from Mount Lofty. Couldn't fault the quality of the kit and the friendly service.Written 2 February 2024
- suenH3436LZ0 contributionsA great day out!Amazing views of Adelaide. Beautiful National parkland to ride through. Ian made sure we were all happy and comfortable with each section, giving advice on how to ride turns and steep bits. It was great fun. We saw a wild koala and had time in Cleland Wildlife park getting to know other SA species including some cute rock wallabies and very sleepy koalas. A great day out!Written 29 January 2024

This tour was the highlight of my trip!! Fabulous way to explore the McLaren Vale region. Ian is very knowledgeable, professional and super friendly. We had to move thr tour by day due to the heat wave and bush fires; Ian was very prompt with comms, very responsive and made it super stress free to move it around :)

Definitely a unique take on wine tour. I love exploring & being immersed by nature as well as trying the famous SA wines & this tour gave me exactly that.
I had an absolute blast biking around the Onkaparinga River National Park. The trail can sometimes be a bit difficult and tricky but Ian (our guide) tried his best to guide us through. He even tried to accommodate everyone's pace & made sure nobody was left behind. He was also very knowledgeable about the area and willing to answer any question that we threw at him.
We visited 2 wineries & 1 brewery on this trip and I felt like I had enough alcohol for the whole month!!! So many varieties to choose from. Reasonably priced (with shipping options too!). For lunch, we had a cute cheese board at one of the wineries. It comprises local produce so it's delicious & sustainable!
Couldn't recommend this tour enough if you want a bit different experience than a regular wine tour. Bike & wine should be the next big thing!

A high calibre, well organised and relaxing bike tour. Ian and his assistant Steve went out of their way to accommodate everyone’s skill level and age group that was especially evident for the mountain track ride through a magnificent section of the Onkaparinga Gorge.
Especially appreciated was the inclusion of local high-quality businesses within the tour: the wine tasting and magnificent platter lunch at Gemtree Wines and the additional wine tasting at Kangarilla Road Wines.
A personalised small group tour through areas only doable with quality bikes made for the task. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our ride. Everything was very professional from being picked up, having good bikes and a guide who showed us some amazing spots. It can be tough managing people of varying abilities but Ian did a fine job.
The lunch spot and the wineries were all good and very well planned. We opted for Goodieson Brewery as the last stop and boy was their beer good! The Brown Ale was my favorite.
Highly recommend if in Adelaide for a few days.

Fantastic day cycling ! So much variation with tracks meandering through the Kuitpo forest. Up & down hills, over creek beds & through canopies of trees. Add McLaren Vale winery & brewery visits with an amazing lunch at an organic, biodynamic winery. Our guide Ian, was very knowledgeable & supplied quality ebikes and equipment. It was important to Ian that he tailored the tour to our requirements hence the communication prior was forthcoming. We highly recommend Escapegoat mountain bike tours.

I highly recommend this tour if you want to enjoy some pleasant bike riding and sample a couple of great vineyards. Ian had chosen a route which was manageable for riders of all levels and despite the hot day there were plenty of shady lanes to ride and the pace was good. The wines and food were excellent. Everything was well organised and this tour is really good value.

We had booked this tour with Escapegoat on the basis of recommendation by friend who visit McLaren Vale frequently. We were not disappointed!
Ian is a brilliant host and the bikes first class. If you like good food and wine whilst enjoying the great Australian outdoors this is a must!
Additional bonus is any goodies you buy along the way will be transported back for you in the van.

Lovely day out exploring an area I hadn't seen much of by bike. Steve was a fantastic tour leader. Can recommend doing a bit of riding beforehand if you haven't done much lately.

Pick up on time and bikes in good condition. Helmets and bike gloves available. Easy bike riding through iconic Australian eucalyptus bush with the possibility of seeing some wild animals (koala today). In the morning we rode in 3 different locations and enjoyed the "mostly" downhill riding - a gentle loop track, an hours ride in Onkaparinga National Park (with good views of the gorge) and a fun road descent prior to visiting two wineries . We then visited two wineries within easy biking distance of each other, with a yummy platter for lunch at the first winery. We finished the day with a visit to a microbrewery.
The weather was great and the whole day was unhurried; everyone had a fun time and the mix of biking, wine and beer seemed about right.
Thank you Ian for your time today.
