Great tour, amazing location, nice lunch and great wine.
My Wife and I booked the tour from interstate with little knowledge of Adelaide and the surrounding regions. Turns out our pick was all that we could have asked for and more. Great little family tour company that was easy to book and contact (we were staying in a brand new hotel which wasn't on their list of pick up locations, but no hassle in arranging pick up at the new location). Also we booked as a couple on a "small group" tour however we were the only two so it turned into a very personalized and private tour with no pressure implied being only the two of us.
Danny was our tour guide and was happy to share any and all his knowledge about Adelaide & and the coastal towns on the scenic drive to McLaren Vale, including dinner recommendations.
Within McLaren Vale we tasted at 4 wineries (Shingleback, Hugh Hamilton, Leconfield/Richard Hamilton & Penny's Hill) and a HUGE!! grazing plater lunch at Leconfield with many featured local produces. During the driving we also drove past the d'Arenberg Cube which Danny was able to provide history and many personal stories of the company and family. This was matched with knowledge and commentary throughout the rest of the tour which was light and unobtrusive. It was also very easy to see that he is well liked and has a great relationship with all the wineries that we visited. During the day we were not pressured and Danny was open to changes in itinerary if there was something that took us by fancy.
Overall McLaren Vale is a great area close to the city with great wine and a day with Danny and his company has been a great experience that we will never forget.

Hi simonwB1942TN,
Wow! Thank you so much for that wonderful review. I'm always delighted to showcase our amazing Food and Wine regions. McLaren Vale is a beautiful part of South Australia and some times overlooked.
I'm very happy that you enjoyed your day with me. And I would love to show you both our other Food and Wine regions when next you visit our fair shores.
Cheers
Danny

My original McLaren Vale wine tour was cancelled the day before, Top Food & Wine tours was able to accommodate my last minute reservation. Danny C., our guide was knowledgeable, professional, fun and flexible. He took us to 4 boutique wineries, focusing on high-quality wines, all charming and very generous with their tastings.
The day started at the wonderful Fox Creek and their divine Short Row Shiraz. Followed by Wirra Wirra and the sparkling Mrs. Wigley moscato, amazing! Lunch was at Serafino, where we did tastings while our gourmet lunch was being prepared and you choose a glass to go with lunch. Our group of 7 was fun, friendly and as someone who was going by herself, was so inclusive and made this one of the best days ever. I can’t recommend Adelaide’s Top Wine and Food tours and Danny C. enough !

The day started at 9am with a pick up from our Hotel by Danny. A very pleasant bus load of 5 people so we were well looked after. Danny showed he had a good history and geography knowledge of Adelaide and his commentary was nicely peppered with jokes. Some of the jokes could have been classified as 'dad' jokes!!
The vineyards chosen were unusual and not well known and our favourite was Oliver's. Beautiful setting, well informed host and yummy fresh bread with Oliver's olive oil to accompany our wine tasting. I think I could have stayed there all day.
Unfortunately, our lunch at Richard Hamilton winery was a little disappointing due to a power outage in the area. I requested a quick stop at D'Arenberg winery which was not on the itinerary and Danny accommodated this so I could view the Cube Gallery.
Overall the trip was well planned and we learnt a lot and tasted wines from four vineyards we have never tasted. Thank you

This was my first wine tasting experience in Adelaide, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Our tour guide was amazingly friendly, knowledgable and we had plenty of time at each winery without being too rushed. There are plenty of photo opportunities along the way, with each winery having it's own beautiful aspect of scenery.
I highly recommend Top Food and Wine Tours in the McLaren Valley, you will most certainly have a wonderful time.

The wineries we visited were great, but the overall experience did not meet our expectations. We had done the Tasting the Barossa tour the previous day, which was excellent—our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate, and the tour cost less while being far more enjoyable. Unfortunately, our guide on this tour spent more time talking about himself and making bad jokes than educating us about the city and wine region. Some of his comments bordered on racist and were in poor taste. Initially, we thought it might just be our impression, but other couples on the tour shared similar feedback with us, unprompted. I hate to leave a negative reviews, but given what we paid, the experience fell far short of expectations.

Best wine tour I have ever had and I visited a few in France and Italy as well. What I loved about it is that the guide did take us to the small but excellent wineries which you could tell had a real passion for it, made good wines and really aimed at creating unforgettable customer experience as opposed to big well known wines who think they made it and thus they do not give a damn about customer, always rush tastings, not offering water to drink, and keep customers standing so as to ged rid of them quickly because the next bus will be arriving in 15 minutes! We did not feel we were obligated to buy and this is the way to sell your wines! Our guide Dan was very knowledgeable and well organised, he also knew the subtle art of giving a wine buying advice (as opposed to other tour guides' clumsy attempts to sell by saying : "They are giving you special discount, it is only for today, blah blah blah".

We had a fantastic day out, looked after by our driver and guide Danny C, who was extremely knowledgeable about the local area and helped us get the most out of the day.
My partner and I were the only ones in our bus as other Danny was taking around another group and they wanted us to have the best experience. We were picked up at 9am prompt and after a 45 minute drive were in the McLaren vale, initially stopping at the D'arenburg cube to admire its... Uniqueness. Our first wine stop was at the Shingleback winery, actually our favourite of the day. We took the black bubbles and local heroes home!
The next stop was Hugh Hamilton wines, a beautiful cellar door with a 360 degree view of the surrounding vineyard. Once again, the wines here were delicious, and the Saperavi/Shiraz blend was something new. Then followed our lunch stop just around the corner, with more wine accompaniment! Following lunch we visited Samson Toll winery (with their gorgeous black lab, Miller) and as a bonus stop we went to Kay Brothers, where we were lucky enough to try one of their nicest Shiraz's, whilst admiring the view of the rolling hills in the background.
We did pick up some wine along the way and with Danny C's help were able to pop back into Shingleback to get this sent back to NSW (it arrived 8 days later!)
All in all we couldn't have asked for a better day out, Danny's guidance and friendly demeanor made it special and the wines were right up our street. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to see what Mclaren Vale has to offer!

My partner and I recently took this delightful all day wine tasting tour in the McLaren valley and highly recommend it. Vincent, our guide, picked us all up on time, gave us a helpful history of Adelaide and the wine region and took our group of 8 to four vineyards. We tasted several wines per vineyard and were not at all rushed. We requested a vegetarian lunch and were given a nice plate of local cheeses, olives, dips, etc. It was a very lovely day.

My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful day out in Mclaren Vale with Danny and the small group that we were a part of. We visited four stunning wineries and had a lovely charcuterie board comprised of delicious local produce for lunch. Danny made sure to cater for my partner who is celiac which was very much appreciated. Danny is an absolute character and we had many laughs throughout the day in addition to being taught many interesting facts about the Vale which was testamemt to Danny's involvement within the local community. It was trully a great day and would recommend you book a tour with Danny and his team if you are looking for an awesome experience in Adelaide and surrounds. Thanks again and we can't wait to explore the rest of SA with your team in the future.

guide. We went to 5 wineries in total and had a great experience.
Our favourite was Hugh Hamilton with the 360 degree cellar door. The view was amazing and the wines were delicious.
Highly recommend the pate we had for lunch, it was from a local producer called Little Acres.
Overall a great experience and highly recommended!
