About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- PhantomHelm0 contributionsSuper tour of the Barossa Valley - great wine, food and historyExcellent day-long wine tour hosted by the knowledgeable and entertaining Russell. The tour took us through the spectacular scenery of the Adelaide hills, and down through the Barosaa and Eden Valleys. Transport via a small 20 seater air conditioned coach, the tour was punctuated with a informative commentary from Russell, covering the geography, wildlife and geography of the reason, as well as a lot of great background information on the history of winemaking in this region. The tour takes in 3 vineyards, each with a minimum of 7 excellent wines, plus ports. An excellent lunch was provided, plus some sightseeing stops. We had a great time, and enjoyed meeting the other people on the tour. Overall, very highly rated, thoroughly enjoyable, informative, great value, and some brilliant wines and memories.Written 1 May 2024

- 657beatricem0 contributionsAbsolutely awesome!I had arranged a private day tour with them ahead of our cruise port of call in Adelaide in November 2022. Everything was fantastic from arranging the tour with Kris by email to the day of the tour. JR, our guide, came and picked us up at the cruise terminal in Port Adelaide at 9 am. We were 18 of us and very comfortable in the minibus. JR was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable about the history of Adelaide and around, he told us everything we could possibly want to know. Fun facts, history, people, wineries, we had a great time listening to him while he drove us through Adelaide then the view over Adelaide and Adelaide Hills, Handhorf, wine tasting in the McLaren Vale, and we finished with the coast and Glenelg. He arranged for a cheese platter to be ready for us at one of the wineries. We never felt rushed. We were lucky to have an overnight stay in port and it did help. But it was the first question JR asked us when we met him at 9am: what time should we be back. He brought us back to the ship after an amazing, unforgettable day. I highly recommend this company. It was great that they organized our tour based on our wishes. And definitely so much better than the tours organized by the ship and far less expensive. We got to see a lot in a small private setting in the best of conditions. If you are on a cruise and want to organize a private tour, FYI I used Cruise Critic forum to find the 14 minimum people required to confirm the tour. After I had arranged the tour with Kris she gave me a detailed description that I posted on Cruise Critic. Easy, fast and efficient.Written 8 December 2022
- Graham M0 contributionsAn enjoyable day out including McLaren ValeOur group was picked up in a minibus from our cruise ship at the quayside. We were given a tour round Adelaide followed by a panoramic view from Mount Lofty. Then on to Hahndorf for a ninety minute visit. Then on to McLaren Vale for tastings at Shingleback (7 wines and an optional cheese plate lunch) and Chapel Hill (5). Then on along the coast and a short stop in Glenelg. It was a varied and enjoyable day, helped by the wit and charm of our knowledgeable guide, JR. He looked after us well and was flexible. Plenty of toilet stops! We thoroughly recommend for any first timer in this part of the world.Written 8 December 2022

I did this tour and tasting with my hubby and another couple. I would totally recommend it. Good value for money and we loved hearing so much about the history and stories behind the wineries and their owners. Our tour guide/bus driver (Ashley) was awesome. Our group ranged in age from 26 - 70! Just do it!

What an awesome day out! I cannot recommend this winery tour enough. JR our host was awesome he made our day so great he was approachable and funny and great at handling us after a big day of drinking on the way home. The tour itself was planned really well with a great amount of time at every vineyard and a great selection of wines to sample (and I’m not a big fan of wine so that’s saying something!) Such an awesome experience so glad we picked Barossa Vallery wineries tour. Thank you and thanks to the lovely bunch of people we got to share our day with.

Our driver, JR (or John) was very informative and exceeded all our expectations. We had waited many months to do this tour which was given to us by our children for Christmas. Due to being locals "so to speak", we chose not to visit Whispering Wall. JR called in to Foodland which was on our way for us to buy some Dilled Cucumbers which my husband loves and we can't always buy. We met Holly Purcell from Chateau Yaldara who was a credit to her employer. Rachael Duncan from Hemera Estate was very welcoming. Lambert Estate wines provided us with a nice lunch. Due to Covid closure, we did not go to some of the scheduled wineries however JR bent over backwards and took us to Liebich wineries where my husband was able to reconnect with people he knew from childhood.

I would highly recommend doing a tour of Barossa valley with these guys. We had a fantastic day with JR as our tour guide. He was friendly and very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed learning a bit about Adelaide's history as we drove out of the city in the morning. We also heard a lot about the history and the families of the wineries as we travelled through Barossa valley.
We went to four beautiful wineries where we tasted 5/6 different wines and a member of staff talked us through the story behind each bottle. Our favourite was Peter Lehmann's where we also had some delicious lunch after the tasting experience.
We got back to Adelaide around 5:30pm and each couple was dropped off outside their accommodation which was great.

The wine tasting is well organised, wine tasting is great,I’ve learnt a lot about the wine history and making. Lunch is good, Adelaide Hills and Barrosa Valley is picturesque like a landscape oil painting.
Whispering wall and donuts at a small town Tunado are something you can’t afford to miss
It’s a perfect day trip and the money and time are well spent.

I booked this tour after reading reviews and I only had one day spare after spending three days at a conference. Fab day out. JR was full of information. If you're looking for a good one day tour to experience then I totally recommend this tour. Pick up and drop off in the city centre was easy - even though I was staying at a airbnb apartment - I just met the bus at a nearby hotel.

Our tour driver was absolutely incredible. From the moment he picked us up in Adelaide until we reached the Barossa, Russell captivated us with his extensive knowledge. He shared stories about his origins, life in Adelaide, and provided fascinating insights about the places we passed along the way. Our journey included stops at remarkable locations such as the Whispering Wall (Barossa Reservoir) and a delightful shopping break in Tanunda.
Our first winery visit was a truly memorable experience. We were immersed in the history and viticultural expertise as we tasted over 10 varieties of wines. At Saltum winery, we enjoyed a fantastic Aussie lunch, seated at a sprawling indoor picnic-style table within the cellar. The grand finale was our visit to Chateau Yaldara, an awe-inspiring winery. From the tastings to the captivating tour of the underground cellar, every aspect of this winery was exceptional. The Irish tour guide at Chateau Yaldara added an extra layer of entertainment with his hilarious anecdotes. The sight of 250,000 bottles in the cellar and the vast quantities of wine stored in ancient oak barrels was simply mind-blowing.
Please excuse any omissions or misidentifications in this review, as I am writing it two weeks after the tour, and we may have indulged a bit during the tastings.
Russell, our tour driver and operator, was not only friendly and approachable but also instantly made us feel at ease. His extensive knowledge and expertise in wine and viticulture greatly enhanced our understanding of the wine culture. We were particularly impressed by Russell's seamless and efficient guidance throughout the tour, ensuring that every aspect fit perfectly into our experience. Undoubtedly, this tour has left a lasting positive impression on all of us, and I wholeheartedly recommend the Barossa Valley Wineries Tour to anyone seeking a personalized and exceptional wine tour experience.
Our route included the following highlights:
Whispering Wall (Barossa Reservoir)
Stop at Tanunda for shopping
Rosenvale Vineyards (wine tastings)
Salter's Kitchen (lunch)
Mengler Hill (scenic views of Barossa)
Chateau Yaldara (wine tastings)

Excellent value for money. Outstanding guide and great wineries. Unfortunately, there were a handful of exceptionally rude people in the group who refused to behave like respectable adults. They were loud, demanding and outspoken about their views on certain things some people within earshot would have found insulting and/or hurtful. They were visitors to South Australia and didn’t do wonders for the reputation of the city they reside in. Despite the relentless insults and complaining he had to endure, our poor guide managed to remain calm, but firm, thereby preventing these people from ruining everybody’s fun. Well done, Baden. You deserve a medal!

Hi Kim S
Thanks for this review. It obviously was a challenging day. We unfortunately have had a 3 star review from this tour already. It's unbelievably disappointing to work so hard to get through to the other side of this Covid pandemic and then to receive poor reviews from people that obviously don't appreciate the dynamics of a group tour concept. Thanks again for the review, it will give Baden and the rest of us a bit of faith that we are doing our best.

There is so much to see in the Barossa, and having a knowledgeable tour guide is important. Joe was a font of knowledge, with many stories to tell, adding colour to the trip. Seppeltsfield was the first winery; then Dell'uva for lunch; followed by Ubertas and rounding off with Chateau Tanunda. There was a short stop at the Barossa Cheese Factory to break things up. Joe added the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, before the journey back to Adelaide.
Seppeltsfield - the winery is vast and full of history. The wine tasting was a little disappointing with our host being softly spoken (which we did request her to speak louder), and made harder with English not being her first language.
Ubertas- more of a modern winery, which needs a little more experience to create a warm feeling.
Chateau Tanunda - lots of history and a super impressive winery. Just felt a little rushed with the wine tasting.
For us, the highlight was Dell'uva. The history; the unique processes; the family focus; and of course fantastic food and wine.
Well done Joe for organising a jammed packed day, and your stories throughout the day.

What an experience ! A perfect day filled with wine, laughs and sunshine!
Our tour guide (I believe JR?) cannot be commended enough for how he led this exceptional tour. He guided the tour in a professional, fun and insightful manner. His knowledge of wine is expansive and detailed, yet accessible for the amateur/beginner connoisseur. He provided the perfect amount of interesting local knowledge and history between stops, that was filled with plenty of laughs. His relaxed nature made for a comfortable day and enjoyable day.
Overall this tour is a great way to explore the Barossa valley. It was the perfect amount of wine tasting, history and sight seeing. We will be sure to recommend all of our friends.
