    Great staff, well organized but
The day was great. The staff was wonderful and very, very knowledgeable and friendly. I would only recommend this trip if you had your own snorkeling equipment which is the reason this was not a five rating. Their equipment just was too small and suitable for adult adults and especially men. The mask looked like a children's masks and I spent most of my time clearing my mask. I was not alone in this problem. It would have been worse had a I not been a long time snorkeler. The snorkel had a purge valve, but the purge valve was defective. The stinger suits that we put on were definitely not big enough for most of them men on the trip. Having said all this, the reef was beautiful, and there were many fish. And I can't reiterate enough just how great the staff was. I would do this trip again, but only if I took my own equipment.

    What an awesome tour
We booked this tour last minute as an opportunity to see the Great Barrier Reef from Townsville. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, friendly, and never took their eyes off us to make sure we were safe in the water and on board. The staffing ratios to swimmers was great - there was always a guide or lifesaver almost within arm's reach for attention when required. They catered to our specific accessibility needs, were encouraging, and helpful to talk to when looking at the reef. The food was hearty and the snorkel gear was being sanitised as we went, which was reassuring. If you didn't want to swim, that was fine too. The staff even helped look after a younger passenger to give the mum and dad and opportunity to see the reef. We were really impressed with the whole trip and would definitely recommend to anyone considering booking.

    Easy, convenient, and affordable
Super convenient and a discount for booking online! Ferries leave frequently and you don’t need to book a specific time. How nice is that?

Beautiful snorkling on the reef and seeing MOUA. Friendly, fun trip
Excellent day of snorkling on the Great Barrier Reef. Easy to find meeting spot, 2.5 hour trip out to the reef including stops to see whales and dolphins en route. Snacks provided at appropriate times - fresh fruit and biscuits AM & PM teas, and lunch (dyi sandwiches- provided) between the two bouts of snorkling. Loved the MOUA installations. The day was so beautiful with still calm waters and high clarity. Knowledgeable and friendly staff on board. We were very lucky to get a cancellation at the last minute as we hadn’t booked ahead. Highly recommend

    Fun day
We had a fun day. The reef is beautiful. The crew were great, professional, competent and friendly. Lunch, morning and afternoon tea very good. Plenty of time to snorkel. It was pretty cold on 27 July and not everyone did the second snorkel.

    Disappointment Down Under
Disappointing, I travelled from overseas for this. Despite good weather conditions and visibility we could not see the the Museum of Underwater Art on this snorkel tour which our Sealink boat was apparently situated above - even at low tide. Came across 3 of the Sentinel statues on the reefs edge during the first snorkel which were haunting, even when viewed from above from a depth of 5m - but really not enough, for what is supposed to be the keystone part of this snorkel tour. No information was given about the artist or the artwork and the stories behind them. The one map they had onboard, I had to fetch after the first snorkel and ask them to orient me to where things were. It was out of date - only showing the Glasshouse with no info about the Sentinels, and didn't have the names or any information about any of it. The staff I approached were uninterested or uninformed enough to help me with such a simple query. I was left to my own devices for the second snorkel and though the sea life was vibrant in parts, before I knew it, it was over and we were heading back to Townsville. Fine if you live locally, and you're there for the corals and sea life of the great barrier reef will a little extra art on the side - but frankly I wouldn't recommend this if you're there for Jason Decaires Taylor's amazing undersea sculptures - arrange a guided experience and scuba it instead.

One of the best experiences ever!
Top ten experiences of my entire life. Our family went with the amazing SeaLink crew to the reef and got to experience MOUA! The crew were exceptional, the reef was spectacular and so close! We were lucky enough to go on World Ocean day, we were in the company of legends who were so passionate and willing to share their time and knowledge. Absolute highlight of our lives!

    10 star snorkelling trip
We had an amazing time! All the staff were amazing in and out of the water. Very attentive to all who were unfortunate to get sea sickness. A beautiful lady helped my kids and I in the water until we were confident. A young gentleman named fisher was the stand out, he was very friendly, helpful and full of knowledge and very passionate about his field of studies.

    The best underwater snorkeling experience
An amazing adventure. Our trip out to the Great Barrier Reef to the Underwater Art was a breathtaking snorkling experience. We saw not only the reef, various types of coral, an array of stunning fish, other sea life including star fish, sea cucumbers and even an octopus. I just hovered over the octopus with amazement. The lunch was delicious and a relaxed time to take in the atmosphere. The crew were just awesome. They were friendly, very knowledgeable, well organised and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this trip and I would definitely do it again. One thing I would recommend is, taking an underwater camera to capture every moment. Well done Sealink Queensland!

    Orpheus Island Day Trip
Today, my husband, adult daughter and I went on the Orpheus island Day trip from the Townsville SeaLink terminal. Each of us agreed, it was a wonderful day. The crew, from check in and on board were very polite, helpful and did their very best to ensure that everyone on board had a wonderful day. We cruised through past many beautiful Islands to Orpheus Island. Orpheus island was majestic, where we had the opportunity to snorkel in the clean blue water, with many beautiful colored fish, coral and even a stingray. The delicious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea was very nice, as we enjoyed the view from the beach. Thank you very much to the Great staff for a Wonderful day. We highly recommend this day trip :)

The safety and information videos of things to do on Magnetic Island, and back in Townsville, playing in the terminal and on board were great ways to spend your waiting time. Book online and get a discount. Or some services, such as the 6:15am are some times half price. Buses meet the ferry at both ends. I recommend getting to the terminal early if you want to be outside on the top deck as this is quite popular.

Comfortable and easy way to access Magnetic Island. Both times I've been there was no delay it always left on time to and from the Island. The staff are all friendly and helpful at the travel desk and on the ferry.

I would suggest leaving some time to allow yourself to get on board if you haven't bought online tickets as car parking in busy times can be a bit of a walk + it is a $9.00 daily parking fee.

I would of rated it 5 Stars however in my opinion it is a bit pricey for tickets there is a small discount online. Overall it's a good way to get to the Island.

Easy on line booking, boat left on time both ways. It could help if the gentleman who checked passengers on and off could break out a smile now and then, other than that very efficient.

Nothing to do with the ship but something should be done re the buildings on the cliff that welcome visitors, they currently make Alcatraz look inviting by comparison. Paint maybe??

Booking the ferry online was easy, but I was disappointed that there was no seat reservation. This meant first in first served. We were told to be at the Ferry at least 20 minutes before boarding in case the Ferry was busy. As it was school holiday time, we panicked and ensured we were there at least 45 mins ahead of time. There was no need to do this on an early morning trip. On the return trip, the workman pushed into the line, which was disconcerting to me as I have a current mobility problem and use a walking stick. They were determined to be first in line and weren't concerned about anyone else. On the return trip, there was also a lot of luggage, and although passengers were asked to stay seated until the Ferry docked, those with large bags got up early and took over the exit. This was also a concern as I was sitting in a priority seat by the exit door and was frightened that I was going to be crushed by the luggage. I feel this needs better control especially to ensure older people and those with mobility concerns are not injured. Otherwise the Ferry was smooth and we enjoyed Magnetic Island.

Dear Wendy, We are very disappointed to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience onboard with us. We always aim for the highest standards and take seriously the feedback of our valued customers. Regrettably, we cannot always regulate the behaviour of passengers who may push in or stand up prematurely to retrieve their luggage. However, I have passed your feedback onto our Marine Operations team to communicate these concerns to the crew to strive to be more vigilant in managing passengers' behaviour. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind regards, Cassie from SeaLink North Queensland

Fast and friendly service from the ticket sales to the ferry staff. Once onboard, the inside looked very comfortable and the a/c was pumping but we sat outside on the upper deck (which fills fast) to enjoy the view. Masks were still mandatory but crew happy to supply as needed. Ferry was clean, trip was smooth and fast to the island. Buses meet the ferry at the terminal and back on the mainland the route 200 bus is an easy way to get to and from city for those without a car.

I can only imagine how much money they make by cramming hundreds of passengers on this ferry at 39 dollars per person. At that price I would expect more amenities on there and certainly I have caught other similar ferries around Australia for a fraction of that price. But it is fast, I’ll give it that.

Be sure to collect some booklets about magnetic island at the terminal or information center when you get there. They have useful maps and a list of attractions

Dear Rebecca Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear that you found our services expensive. Our pricing policy is very similar to other ferry companies that operate locally and interstate and majority of our customer’s reviews state that we are great value for money. Regarding passenger numbers, we never overload our vessels and always adhere to vessel capacities as the safety and comfort of our customers are our top priorities. These school holidays were extremely busy, and well above our forecasted numbers for this period. Managing specific times when an unusually high volume of passengers are travelling outside our previously identified peak travel demands is challenging. Our passengers continue to enjoy the flexibility of being able to hop on any of our services but that does sometimes mean that some service can be extremely busy. We take guest service and satisfaction very seriously and we are committed to continuous improvements to ensure our passengers have a pleasurable experience. On behalf of all of the team at SeaLink, we hope to welcome you onboard a SeaLink vessel again soon. Kind regards, Cassie from SeaLink North Queensland

We had a good day, except the weather was very windy and clouds were grey so we didn't have a good day for snorkelling. We did attempt snorkelling where lots of others were, but the water is quite deep that even if it was a good day, it still would have been average.

We quickly realised that it is a very busy island! The buses are packed, and lots of people hovering around the info centre where the ferries drop. We had an issue with one of the bus drivers - we weren't sure where to stop exactly on the bus route, so we told the driver that we wanted to go on the walk to see the koalas. He was talking to another man that was on the bus before we got on there, and throughout the whole journey. Then i noticed that i think we had passed where we were meant to get off. I got up and said that to him, and he denied that i had ever said anything to him about being dropped off there, and there was only about another 3 other people on this particular bus. So i told him to stop right now so we cold walk back, and he said no and so drove all the way to the next stop which is definitely not a walk away. He still denied it regardless, and said the next bus to take us back that way would be in 10 mins, which it WAS NOT it was about 30 mins. So we had to wait there until the next bus to take us there, so we wasted a whole hour because of the driver not listening to us, and being rude about it to us. I think it was because we were young backpackers. At least admit that you forgot and apologise, and just say i never said anything to him. So in that time we were waiting for the next bus, we decided to call Sealink and complain about the driver. Bu t they told us that bus drivers are actually part of the local council staff, and so we had to call them and complain to them. After being passed around so many times over the phone, we were finally able to get through, But really that was a waste of time also.

Anyway, we got over it and enjoyed our walk when we got there and saw many wild koalas! Everyone along the way was really friendly, telling us where they had seen a koala, and we did the same for others. The beaches were enjoyable as well.

But like i said in the title, we have been to better, nicer islands. This was just on our bucket list to visit.

Hi Deanna, Thank you for taking the time to write a review! It's very disappointing to hear you had a poor experience with another company during your visit to Magnetic Island. Unfortunately as they are not affiliated with SeaLink it is difficult for us to comment on your feedback. In saying that we are glad you saw many of the gorgeous koalas on The Forts trail and were able to enjoy the many beaches even though it was a cloudy day (typical of a Summer/wet season day here in North Queensland ;-D). We hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and thank you very much for choosing to travel to Magnetic Island with SeaLink.

Just spent four days over at the island and took the passenger ferry to get there and back. The terminals at both ends are clean and spacious, with a couple of cafes to get a drink or bite to eat.
Tickets can be purchased either on line or at the counter. If you purchase on line there is a small discount.
The journey was smooth and efficient. The ferry’s are comfortable with seating on the lower deck or upstairs, either inside or out. If you have luggage this goes up the top too.

Having recently spent 6 weeks on Magnetic Island, we found the SeaLink ferry services between Townsville and Magnetic Island to be nothing but excellent!
The one negative would be that they don't have a convenient or very big area for luggage storage, and you can't have your bags with you at your seat. Not a huge issue but could be awkward for elderly or disabled travellers.
Apart from that, the services are frequent and always on time. Staff are always very friendly, efficient and helpful, and the ferry is always clean. A great service!

We got to magnetic island and of course we had some questions as everyone about the transport, so we head up to the information center of sealink and we asked a women about the bus and she answered really rude , she was angry and didn’t even care about helping . If she is working there to help the tourist she then must help , and don’t get angry about questions even if it seems obvious to her . This is the first time in australi that I feel like someone is not respectful and kind. I’ll like to think the reason she acted like that was a hard day.
