- angndaz0 contributionsBeautiful, fun and entertainingThe area sells itself, it is so beautiful however our tour guide Matt showed us things we would never have found on our own. He had a brilliant enthusiasm and energy which he maintained all day, great sense of humour and extensive knowledge. Our family had a brilliant time, the ice cream was enjoyed by all. A shame that we couldn’t swim due to the river in flood but that also provided more spectacular scenery. Seeing a cassowary and its chick in the wild and several Ulysses butterflies were personal highlights.Written 11 January 2025
- A5454ZFalisonb0 contributionsOne of our best tours Oz wide!!Absolutely sensational. Cam was our guide. So knowledgeable and well spoken in the Aussie tongue, the information and discussions were incredible. We didn’t visit in peak season, so fewer crocs but this did not matter! The locals know where the crocs were nesting and we seen 5 Casowaries in the wild.. the Daintree ice creamery made from fruit from the orchids onsite was a hit too! Lunch and a swim at Coopers creek was memorable, the water was amazing! Our guide made our experience even more amazing, I’m sure he will sleep well tonight after answering all our questions ! Thank you!!Written 8 January 2025

- Helen4790 contributionsExcellent, informative tour of the rainforest.Would really recommend this tour. Pick up from main hotels in Port Douglas. All day tour of the rain forest in small groups. Great cruise up the river looking at wildlife and hoping to see a crocodile. Lovely lunch. Our guide, Mick, was extremely informative and really made the day interesting.Written 21 December 2024

- roxyv30000 contributionsExtraordinary tour -- but please be mindful of the elderly & disabledI took this full-day tour with my elderly mother a while back, & wanted to highlight an issue that made us both very uncomfortable. My mother is 80+ years old, a very slow walker, especially on stairs, and after the crocodile/river cruise portion we were the last the get off the boat (due to her disability). As I helped her to the stairs that lead to the parking lot, I noticed everyone had left us. The guide was gone, the group had swiftly moved along, it was just my mother & me directly next to the banks/mangroves of a wild river with enormous crocodiles in every direction. In theory, yes it may have been a safe dock to unload, but the reality was a crocodile could have been anywhere -- we were disembarking in their territory & had just seen an enormous (5 meter) one a few minutes earlier, not too far from where we were. I think this needs to be addressed, in whatever way a guide can stay with slower paced or elderly individuals, it should be prioritized -- as it was a scary few minutes walking up that hill completely on our own. I don't imagine a Crocodile Dundee-style rescue in the face of a huge reptile attacking us, but just the presence of a guide who was actually looking out for us? It would have made a big difference.Written 20 December 2024
- Dreamer6208330 contributionsGreat Rainforest experienceWhat a great trip, a full-on day with meals included Loved the rainforest and the river swim as well as the beach at Cape Tribulation and the croc boat trip search. Our favourite land tour of our 2 weeks in the Cairns/Port Douglas region. We were collected at our accommodation by Mick the tour guide. Off to Upper Daintree for a river cruise which was very enjoyable and the guides knew the area well and showed us the birds and doubled back and came in close to look at the most interesting things. No crocs because of the heat but still a lovely cruise. Then a fabulous morning tea with fantastic scones and a great cuppa. Everyone sat around together and we all learnt a bit about each other with Mick and the cafe staff making everyone feel very welcome and included. Then off to collect the 4 wheel drive for our WILD ride over hill and dale to get to Cassawary Falls. I couldn't stop laughing, it was so much fun. Felt like I had stumbled into an Indiana Jones film. A long stay at the fantastic waterfall, it was so amazing to have such a beautiful place all to ourselves. I swum as close to the waterfall as I could with the falling water making me feel incredibly alive. Saw the fish and lots of turtles as we fed them. Mick was very reassuring and those of us that were a bit nervous of where the ground was a bit uneven were helped out for those few little steps to the water. Another wild ride back and we all felt like such a team. Mick took photos of everyone. If you come to Port Douglas you absolutely have to do this tour, it is incredible and, for the price and quality and number of people, an absolute bargain.

Thanks to Chris and Grant for a thoroughly enjoyable tour. We were picked up from out resort, introduced to our small group and taken on an informative ride to the Daintree. The cruise on the river was relaxing and we were joined by Barrat a 5 metre croc as he swam up stream. We felt so lucky to get to see 3 crocs and enjoy the gorgeous views. The best part of the tour was definitely the visit to Cassowary falls. The waterfalls were awe inspiring and Chris made everyone feel comfortable enough to jump in and enjoy the refreshing water. He was also so accomodating to the group, making sure to offer to take photos so we will never forget such an awesome experience. I would highly recommend this tour!!

Thank you for your review. For anyone reading these reviews, it goes to show what the wildlife is like here in the wet season. 3 crocodiles on this tour, including the big boy, a baby croc on the review up from this one and none, but an enjoyable cruise 2 up from this review.
So you never know what will pop up this time of the year. It is always beautiful out on the river though, and of course Cassowary Falls is always a highlight!
So thanks again,
Grant Knight

Highly recommend this half day tour!
Our guide Chris was awesome! Super knowledgeable and made sure we had a great day. Bill worked hard to make sure we saw a croc on the river cruise and the swim under the waterfall was an amazing way to end the morning. Would book with Daintree Discovery Tours again!

We spent an amazing time in this tour. Thank you Kim for your interesting commentary whilst you were driving. First, we went to Daintree Village and our adventure started up/down the river by boat with a friendly guide and his little doggie. We were outside of croc season, so we did not get to see any crocs. After a delicious morning tea, we went to Cassowary Falls for a swim. To get there, our journey was travelling in the back of an open top zebra print landrover which adds an amazing twist to the experience. In the waterfalls, we fed the fish and the turtles and the place is absolutely stunning. Overall a really enjoyable and awesome morning out.
I recommend 200% this tour.

This is an excellent tour. The cruise along the Daintree River is excellent with lots of informative commentary. After that we had scones jam & cream with coffee at the cafe in the Rainforest Village. The drive into the Cassowary Falls is great. It includes the last section of the the track on private property in a 4WD which was a lot of fun. The falls were amazing. The water is very refreshing, and a great experience to swim under the waterfall. Our tour driver for day (Kim) was fantastic, gave us lots of information along the way, and really looked after us.

We loved the half day morning tour and felt like it was just the right amount of time!
Bruce’ river cruise was great and he made sure we saw some crocodiles in the river. We then went to where we rode in a 4WD to the waterfall swimming hole. The 4WD ride was a nice surprise as we sat on the open back and enjoyed the track down to the waterfall. Only thing I would suggest is if you don’t like swimming with fish, there are a lot in the swimming hole which are use to people so you’ll find yourself bumping into them! Overall a very enjoyable morning that I would definitely recommend!

Who thought you could see a croc, safari through Daintree, feed turtles and river perch, and swim in a majestic private waterfall all in half a day, and for under $100! Chris, our tour guide, was amazing - so much local knowledge and ensured we all had the best experience possible. Can not recommend highly enough. Thanks for a great day!

A really good introduction to the Daintree with a wonderful guide, Mel. She engaged with everyone in the group, kept us all entertained, had masses of knowledge about the history of the area as well as the nature of the Daintree. Would highly recommend.

We are staying at Clifton Beach. Where would we be picked up from and what time? Also how much walking is there to do and if the ground uneven?
Written 16 August 2020
Hi ADjeans, when you book ask them to collect you, be aware that it will be early though (our pickup was 07.30). There definitely isn't a lot of walking, a lot of sitting; on bus, on the boat, morning tea, on the jeep and then home on the bus again :)
The only tricky part really is at the Falls but a short walk, it can be slippery and uneven. Just need to have good shoes. I hope this has helped.

Hi - We are keen on doing this at the end of the month but just wanted to know about the 4WD - Do you think it would be to rough for a person with a bad back - Or could they sit in the front with the driver?
