- E5022PAandyk0 contributionsGreat experiance! Our diving experience with Quicksilver Dive was amazing! Our dive guide Gordon was great fun and made sure everything was OK. After each dive (3 dives) he refilled the tanks and made sure the air was on! We had breakfast, lunch and tea time on board. The whole crew was amazing and very friendly! We will be back! Thank you Gordon!Written 28 August 2024
- Ricardo96810 contributionsAMAZING dive with Chris and Jade from Quicksilver DiveMy family of 6 people had an AMAZING day with Chris and Jade from Quicksilver Dive. I emailed Chris and he responded within a few hours by calling me all the way in the USA to find out what would be the best experience for my family. Although my wife and I are certified, but not my four children, Chris and Jade made arrangements so the children could dive for the first time with Chris and my wife and I could explore the reef with Jade, and then meet up all together on the second dive. It was FABULOUS! To top it off, my kids wanted some Quicksilver merch, but the store was closed when the boat returned and we had to leave for the airport the next morning, so Chris drove up to the hotel right before we left to deliver the merchandise to the kids! I could not recommend them highly enough!Written 15 July 2024
- ClockworkNellie0 contributionsVery professional - highly recommendedWas in Port Douglas and wanted to dive Great Barrier Reef so was booked on with Quicksilver via a broker (Blue Dive Port Douglas). So as it happened there was no need to use the broker. I've been diving many years and so generally like few divers in the water and to be on a boat with fewer people. I was aboard 'Silversonic' which was a very large high speed cat cruiser set up for diving. Probably about 60 customers on board. But many of these were snorkellers. There were then several groups either doing their first dive (Discover) or a course. Then there were (I think) two groups of qualified divers, of which I was in one. So as it turns out, the whole operation was extremely professional. Very slick and they have this whole thing down to a fine art. From the moment of turning up, they have everything so organised for you. Briefings, equipment, on-board food and drinks. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our dive guide was Chris from Manchester, UK (who has lived and dived here in Australia for 16 years) was great. Very relaxed. We had a group of 8, although 2 of the divers were taken out the water at the start as were clearly in need of a refresher so we ended up as a group of 6. Chris was very happy with his group so the approach was relaxed. The buddy I was given (Paul from Melbourne) was great - so well paired. Got three good dives in and had a nice lunch. I think it was good value and would most definitely recommend Quicksilver who I would book direct with next time.Written 23 February 2024

- w0nder1ust0 contributionsGBR experienceI went for three dives with Gordo and had an amazing time. The reef was in great condition and Gordo was great at pointing out some of the amazing wildlife that the reef has to offer - we saw cuttlefish, a leaf scorpion fish, turtles, white tip reef sharks and so much more. Great vis, great dives, and the day was topped off with a humpback mother and calf breaching. Fantastic day overallWritten 10 August 2023

Chris and his team in the dive shop were brilliant; incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and most of all very friendly. And of course our “Dive Mum” - aka. the best instructor around - Adi. Her sense of safety, support, care and passion for diving was like no other. Getting my PADI with Quicksilver has been a dream come true and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.Written 18 October 2022

- annamA9304BC0 contributionsAwesome! My husband and I did three dives with Quicksilver yesterday. It was an awesome day on the Great Barrier Reef. From seeing turtles on the surface, to a white tip reef shark and scorpion fish on our dive (amidst an abundance of fish and incredible corals) our day was brilliant. Our Divemaster, Adriana, was super lovely and knowledgeable. She even set our tanks up for us before each dive. The day was incredible and despite lots of reports in the media saying the reef is dead... it is anything but. There is still more than enough to see and 100% worth doing. Thanks so much to the whole team who made our day so great.Written 18 December 2020

From the fantastic instruction of Jess, the specialised dive pool, to the dive boats and the reef sites the whole experience has been unbelievable! I have no hesitation in recommending these talented folks should you wish to start or even continue your diving career, plus it is in Port Douglas!! Such a beautiful part of the world. - loftywanderer0 contributionsPADI 4 day Open Water course: amazing experience!I’ve just finished the 4 day PADI Open Water course with Quicksilver in Port Douglas and can’t recommend it highly enough. The facilities at the dive school are fantastic, the first two days in the pool really gave me confidence when diving in the ocean on the last two days. The trip out to the reef was so well organised and all the crew were so welcoming, enthusiastic and knowledge about the reef and it’s marine life. The reef did not disappoint, we were lucky to have incredible conditions and saw turtles, octopus and so many amazing fish. But the biggest praise goes to Jess, my instructor. I was very lucky to have one to one training with her for the first three days of my course. She was a fantastic teacher, really calm and reassuring. I had zero diving experience before the course and felt confident quite quickly thanks to Jess’s support and advice. Thanks Jess and Quicksilver, I think my future diving trips will have a lot to live up to.....Written 8 November 2019

I have just completed a four day PADI diving course with Quicksilver at Port Douglas and have to say that the training provided by Jess, my instructor, was absolutely brilliant. She was totally professional, but with a sense of humour which made the challenging course a joy. She coached me through to certification and blended the training with imparting a knowledge of aquatic life on the Great Barrier Reef which added to the experience immensely. After qualifying, she handed me over to the care of Gordon for three guided dives which really consolidated the excellent training. All power to Quicksilver - an unforgettable experience.

After being an avid water person since birth (surfing, snorkelling, spearfishing) and at the persistence of my fiancé, I finally bit the bullet and tried SCUBA diving on the Outer Barrier Reef day trip aboard Quicksilver 8 with DI Mitch. I got the diving bug. For most of my life, as an asthmatic, I was barred from diving and was understandably a bit nervous about SCUBA diving but as I soon met Jess, my course Dive Instructor, and Ian, who was on a bucket list trip of Australia, I was ready to take on the challenge of learning the skills.
Jess has a very easy to understand teaching style that made the large amount of reading and videos from the E-learning translate into skills that I could pick up quickly and improve my confidence with the equipment and how to be a good dive buddy. Her ability to let Ian and myself work through our checks and skills in the pool helped with the many small mistakes we made as we were learning the correct procedures for safe diving. Being able to learn the skills in the pool helped me understand the difference that having a big metal object strapped to your back with affect my movement in the open water.
Out in the open water was a totally different experience to the many years of snorkelling. Over six days of epic visibility, we saw garden eels, clusters of anemone fish, my first Moray Eel, a large blacktip shark in the open water (so cool), a few more small sharks, thousands of reef fish, barracuda's and tunas, the list is endless and awesome.
I've now got the SCUBA bug very badly and this confidence has come from Jess and the other dive staff on the Poseidon and Silversonic. If you have any concerns about diving, talk to the staff and like me, you will be put at ease and thoroughly enjoy learning.
I give the whole experience 17 out of 10 starfish :)

My partner and I just completed our open water course with Quicksilver and we could not rate it highly enough. Chris was beyond accomodating when my partner got sick the day we were originally meant to start the course and rescheduled it for us twice with no extra cost. Our instructors, Hailey and Simon, were so fantastic. Very friendly, encouraging, clear in their teachings and we felt very safe in their hands. The dive sites where we completed training and fun dives were a beautiful place to learn. Everyone in our group had a great time, if you’re looking at learning to dive Quicksilver should be top of your list.

Well, it was just amazing. We booked this course months ago as a new skill to learn together, both in our mid-fifties. Some trepidation as the start of the course dawned. Needn’t have worried, we had a fantastic experience, could not fault it, in fact it exceeded our expectations. Day 1 in the classroom with delightful dive master Adam and then day2-4 with our dive instructor Hayley. It was brilliant to spend day 2 in the 4m deep swimming pool. We did our swim test and Hayley taught us the key skills to keep us safe. The skills set us up for Day 3 & 4 on the reef where we re-did the skills. Hayley was so knowledgeable and adept at teaching, explaining the key concepts and patient when needed. But most importantly, she was fun to be with but kept a level of necessary professionalism. Would wholeheartedly recommend Quicksilver, they were quick to communicate with us and sorted out the PADI certification promptly on completion of the course.

The whole trip was above expectations. Staff were professional and friendly and made the experience enjoyable. Particular mention to Jess who went above and beyond to make our dive course rewarding. She was an excellent dive instructor and would recommend the course to others. Great value for money too, particularly with the dive instructions at the reef. Thanks for a great week.

WOW what an experience. My new husband and I decided to start our honeymoon off with obtaining our open water certification and couldn't have been happier with the choice. The elearning online we had some initial trouble signing in but called the number at the quicksilver office and it was fixed. We found the content easy to follow and had a lot of knowledge we then utilised on the days in the water. The first day we met our instructor Jess and she was the most super patient and easy going person. Never made you feel like you were dumb when you forgot something and said that we were learning and that is going to happen. We spent a whole day in the pool getting used to all our gear and the skills we had to learn for the certification. This was crucial to our success in the big blue. The 2nd day we did 3 dives with skills and some sightseeing underwater with Jess there the whole time watching and encouraging. The 3rd day we had a few more skills on the first dive and then the amazing 2 pleasure dives at the end, where we put everything into practise and were able to just enjoy the surrounds of the underwater. This is the best place to learn to dive and also the best company and instructor to teach you. Jess we cannot thank you enough and I promise I will continue to practise that HOVER ...haha
