Not only swimming amongst fish, but with turtles too!
A very well organised day trip snorkelling off the Low Isles on the Great Barrier Reef. Our experienced and knowledgeable guide swam with us and was able to show us not only the many different types of coral, but explained the range of fish which we could see. Amongst the many highlights was actually swimming alongside turtles. The buffet lunch was good, but we were also given a snack on arrival and coffee, and then mid-afternoon a further snack. The guides allowed us each to go at our own pace, and for those not wanting a second snorkel we had a really informative trip across the coral Reef on a glass-bottomed boat

The best way to spend an afternoon, sunset sailing
Brilliant way to spend an afternoon, on a fancy boat in the tropics. Staff are all so relaxed and friendly, this is the best sunset sail I’ve experienced and one not to be missed while in beautiful FNQ. Thanks so much to the Sailaway team for a perfect afternoon. Shout out to our all girl team of Sara and Mel (captain and crew) for doing a wonderful job.

Great day on the water. We had an all female crew on a Low Isles cruise with Captain Seaerra at the helm. They all worked extremely hard and every detail was spot on point. Food was tasty, crew engaging, snorkels were awesome. Highly recommend.

        One to remember
Well what a day, the crew were just awesome all day and the experience of snorkelling off the reef is one to remember. The catamaran was very stable and a delight to sit up front as you cruise along. Good food and knowledgeable information from the crew during the day. Definitely would go again if back.

        A magical day
A wonderful trip yesterday to the Great Barrier Reef with Sailaway. 100% recommended. I was a bit concerned to start with, as there seemed to be lots of passengers queuing up to board the catamaran, probably about 30 people? But once on board there was so much space for everyone so it didn’t feel crowded at all. The staff were amazing, so knowledgeable and passionate about the area, very inspiring. The two Erins and Irish Louise were friendly, helpful and welcoming, thank you all, we really enjoyed talking to you. We did two amazing swims, (stinger suits, flippers, masks and snorkels provided) for about an hour each, saw sea turtles, beautiful fish and stunning corals. Also went in their glass bottom boat to a small sandy island (cay?). Delicious lunch and snacks. A day with memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you Louise, Erin and Erin!

Great snorkeling from land & boat
EXCELLENT TOUR!!! The service/boat (catamaran) team were exceptional. Worked hard the entire time taking care of everything that had to be taken care of while being bright, friendly, professional & very knowledgeable about everything that we did. Tour itself was well planned out. Great fun having the experience of snorkeling BOTH from the special island as well as from the boat (after lunch). Got plenty of good snorkeling time & 2 different perspectives (again., going in from land & boat). Would highly recommend you taking this tour. Oh! Family- friendly!! Some brought kids with them & they seemed to have a great time.

        Sailaway does an excelent job!
My husband and I really enjoyed our day trip to Mackay reef with Sailaway. The catamaran is a fine way to enjoy the scenery along the way to the reef with views of the Dainstree Rainforest, mountains and Low Isles. There are sunny and shady spots to sit out on the deck and take in the fresh air, while the interior has plenty of room for people to hang out, play games and/or learn about the GBR with plenty of books and literature. This tour is for about 50 people including families with children, small groups, and couples. The staff has an excellent knowledge and passion for the GBR and the ocean. We especially loved Erin who took extra special care of us and answered all of our questions. Our snorkel spots were 2 hours out from Port Douglas Marina where we saw beautiful reef fish, gorgeous coral, turtles and giant clams. Lunch on the boat was very good and they even provide a vegetarian selection if you ask. It is a long day from 7:30 am to 5 pm, but so worth it.

We had a wonderful time on the Sailaway afternoon lower isles cruise and snorkel. From the waiting area (air conditioned on a 37 degree afternoon!) to the awesome snorkeling and open bar on the way back, we found it hard to fault. Our trip was made especially special by Jake, Caitlin and Moby who went out of their way to make everyone on board feel comfortable, even under some wicked weather conditions getting back aboard at the Lower Isles.
It was expertly handled by the crew and we felt very safe and comfortable.
We would highly recommend this half day tour as it doesn’t wipe out your whole day and no screaming children on board definitely made for a lively afternoon under power and then sailing. Thanks team.

The lowe isle sunset cruise, swam with a reef shark in the tranquil waters off port douglas, Jake was a great captain successfully and smoothly escorting us to the island and back and ensuring us the sky would put on some delicous colours, and as promised we sailed through one of the best sunsets I saw in my time in FNQ. Cooper the deckhand plus expert snorkeling and island guide made the trip absolutely memorable and letting in on a local know how of 1 dollar wings at the paddys afterwards! what legends! saw a whale on the trip back and had an absolute great time with some drinks cruising on th3 catamaran. Highly recommended!

We have been snorkeling many times out from Port Douglas and this one on Sailaway didn't disappoint on this trip. The snorkeling took in 2 locations one from the shore at Low Isles and one a little further off shore from the stern of the boat both good sites. On both swims saw lots of fish and turtles and varied coral. Been to Low Isles a few times and it was good on this occasion to see the Ospreys nesting on the lighthouse. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lunch was delicious and the boat wasn't crowded. The sail back to the wharf was relaxing after time snorkeling. Have found over the years of snorkeling from Port Douglas that it is a far better experience to go on the smaller snorkeling or dive boats than go on the much bigger larger boats. As it gives you a better experience overall and you see more fish, coral, turtles etc from the smaller boats. We didn't go on the evening cruise on this trip but we have in the past and found that enjoyable too. All in all a great day out.

What a great trip. The first bonus was getting picked up from our hotel, which meant we didn’t have to drive the short distance to the marina. The shuttle picked us up on time and within a few minutes we were at the marina getting ready to check in and board the boat; a beautiful catamaran.

We were welcomed onboard with drinks and lunch and once we had completed the pre-cruise safety briefing we set sail. It’s just over an hour to Low Island and in that time we decided whether nor not we wanted to go snorkelling or just do the trip in a glass bottom boat and then spend time on the island.

The time spent around the island was about two hours and whilst it was hot, there are some shady areas where you can sit and relax if you want to. We returned to the boat, had afternoon tea and sailed back to the marina catching sunset (if you are lucky enough to see the sun) on the way back. After disembarking we were taken back to our hotel by the courtesy bus.

This is a great trip, whether you snorkel or not. The transfer was included in the price, as was the food and drinks. The crew are fantastic, very experienced and knowledgeable and this comes across during the trip. Jake is the skipper but he is backed up by the crew (two girls) who do most of the organisation and hostessing duties during the cruise. They also lead the snorkelling trips, which are guided to ensure you see as much as possible and that you are kept safe during your time in the water.

A couple of tips. First, keep hydrated. It is easy to think you are OK all the time the boat is moving because the breeze makes you feel cool. In fact it is hot and the combination of heat and humidity means you may get taken I’ll if you do not drink enough water. Second, you don’t have to snorkel if you don’t want to. Third, keep a look out for rays, turtles and sharks when you are on the reef. Finally, take your rubbish back with you; there are no waste facilities on the island and it is not someone else’s responsibility to tidy up after you.

Highlight of our trip. The boat was amazing, so special to be able to sit on the nets at the front whilst sailing to the low isles. Food on board was great. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. Shout out to captain Jake who kept us all calm on a particularly rough day when the transfer from the glass bottom boat to the catamaran was a bit scary. The snorkelling was great, was a bit annoying that we had to stay in a group though as we would rather do so at our own pace. Cruised home with champagne in hand, we had an amazing time!

I wanted to write a review as had the cruise sail yesterday and was just PERFECT. Was the full day snorkelling and sailing. The staff and skipper were brilliant and so hard working and accomodating the entire day. The safety and efficiency of the day was very impressive, the fresh lunch and food provided was excellent quality and the total chilled vibe of the day was just what everyone wants.
If you see other low island options please choose this one! With a smaller group it was less hectic, relaxed and everyone chatted away and got to know each other by the end of the day.
The boat is also stunning and I felt like I was a millionaire with such a stunning sail boat to chill on. Cold beers served in the afternoon.
The snorkelling and reef was also very impressive and felt very safe and relaxed.
Can’t recommend this enough. Thank you Joel and your crew. You were wonderful!

The crew on the Lagoon 56 - helmed VERY capably and professionally by Seaira - made this just a delightful sail out to the Low Isle. The boat beautiful and in immaculate condition; we probably could have used a few more kts of wind for a little more spirited sailing but can't complain about what you have no control over!
Would go again with the Sailaway outfit and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great sailing experience out of the Port Douglas marina.

A relaxed yet luxurious sailing experience! Super friendly staff, amazing food, champagne… and feeling the elements as we sailed on a magnificent vessel through the waters to the Low Isles. Snorkelling was guided with stunning sights. Travelling back to Port Douglas while the sun was setting, with songs playing on board, feeling the wind and watching the waves.. it was unforgettable and I can’t recommend this higher!

Thank you to the brilliant staff Eliza, Cooper and Jake!

An absolutely great day. Our crew Joel, Moby & Eliza were awesome. This is a 'most do' tour from Port Douglas.. forget about other tour providers who takes 300 guests. The water was a bit rough, but it simply added to the adventure. Light lunch was great. I don't snorkle but enjoyed a relaxing time on th beach while my husband snorkled. He absolutely loved it! The island walk was really interesting.

Sadly, due to overcast conditions, we didn't bet much of a sunset but it was still a great cruise back to Port Douglas will more great food and drinks. Thanks for such a wonderful day :-)
