Make your way to Cairns Marlin Marina to board your luxury vessel for your full-day Great Barrier Reef tour. Set sail for a section of the outer Great Barrier Reef that is approximately 45 miles (70 kilometers) offshore. There, the coral reef is located in shallow waters that allow snorkelers to  easily see the abundance of marine life at one of Australia's—if not the world’s—most famous natural sites.  Beginning snorkelers can learn the basics from the trip guides and use the provided snorkeling gear. If you are interested in scuba diving, choose one of the dive options—introductory dive or a guided trip for experienced divers. Your tour, which includes an onboard buffet lunch, is an excellent option for people who want a Great Barrier Reef tour with options for all members of their group.

      Amazing experience
I did my open water PADI with one night on the boat and it was an amazing experience. I couldn’t recommend doing this enough, I struggle to see anywhere this experience could have been improved. My instructors Maria, Sam and Danny showed patience and were enthusiastic when teaching the theory and skills and installed confidence in us so we could enjoy the dives safely. The boat was very social and all the staff were very helpful, room was great and so was the food.

      Stunning
A simply stunning experience. Anna and her crew have something very special going. They manage to make it both chill and professional. They take safety very seriously, while being fun and welcoming. Shoutout to Fernanda for taking me on my first dive, and to Abel, Ivan and Biscuit for subsequent dives. It was with great sadness that I returned to land after 3 days. I got hooked diving. Highly recommend

      Take me back
One for the record books. I won’t say once in a lifetime because i need to make it back! Amazing dives, met so many great people, good food, comfy quarters, it was just the best. And the crew was INCREDIBLE, they made it that much better (i even stayed an extra night to get my advanced and it was still so hard to leave!) - special shoutout to Miki, Camille, Jonathan, Diego, Sam, Liam, Min, Anna, Simon, Collin, Deanna, Roig, Sandy, Carlos and Maria - y’all are the best of the best :)

      Amazing experience—highly recommended
AWESOME experience. GBR is another world, truly stunning, and (I feel bad saying this) I often felt like the snorkelers saw more than the divers because so much of reef life stays close to the surface. Crew was very attentive to safety measures for snorkelers (making sure we didn’t stray too far from each other, logging everyone on and off the boat, etc.). The bed was comfy & shower hot, and as a solo woman, I was paired with another solo woman for the shared twin room. Guides were all really lovely. My only recommendations would be 1) bring a sweatshirt and more than one towel/swimsuit; and 2) bring some food, especially if you’re veg or gluten free. Some of the meals were…not great 😬, especially for those with dietary restrictions…but it’s hard to begrudge the company this when they’re making the GBR accessible at a very reasonable price. I feel like the staff is really doing their best, so…Just bring some snacks to supplement.

      Ocean Quest.Great Barrier Reef.
Spent 4 fantastic days onboard the Ocean Quest. The team is amazing. They are all extremely friendly and hard working with much attention to detail in order to ensure that the entire operation moves safely and efficiently. Nothing is too much trouble. The dive sites around Norman Reef are pristine.Night diving is superb. Thank you all aboard the Ocean Quest for a truly memorable and fun experience. I will return. If you are reading this review, look no further.Highly recommended

Super Instructors that made it a Great Experience
Had a fantastic time with Divers Den for the 6day OW + AOW course. However, what I would advise though is if you intend on buying stuff; masks, snorkels etc., do a bit of research first. The staff are wonderful, I can't commend them enough. Our OW instructors were Camille and Mar and were so patient with us even when we had caused multiple problems during the course (messing up when filling in our form, struggling with some of the dives etc.) It was Camille that really carried us through to completing our OW course. After the OW course we were drained and didn't want to continue with the AOW course but Camille and Anna convinced us otherwise. And we were so grateful. For our AOW course, we got Johnathan, and he was the kindest, most patient person ever and made the whole experience wonderful. We had so many magical moments during those dives with him. I also had Sam for one of my dives, who was another gentleman, really appreciated these guys. A shoutout too to Marius, super nice guy!

Great first liveaboard experience = more confident divers & very happy customers!
For our first liveaboard experience as divers with limited dives, we were very happy with our Divers Den experience. We did the 3 day/2 night liveaboard which gave us 10 dive opportunities. The crew 's attention to detail with the briefings and pre/post dive checks was excellent, as well as organising all of our gear including tank refills between dives - this made for a great trip where we could maximise our time in the water. Shoutout to Chef Reice who kept us all very well fed and put on a cracking Christmas lunch for all on board. Thanks Divers Den! Two very happy divers with more confidence and better skills as a result.

DiversDan Ruined My Experience by changing my buddy just before the open-water dive
DiversDan Ruined My Experience by changing my buddy just before the open-water dive. To begin with, They probably violated their own Rule. There were 9 students to 1 instructor. (According to the PADI manual, the maximum ratio of student divers to instructor during open water dives is 8 students to 1 instructor). However, Instructor Maria was nice. After 2 days in the pool, on the 3rd we went to the Great Barrier Reef. Maria kicked me out of the team and then diversden forced me to change my buddy to A new lady from Germany(probably she is in her 50s). No disrespect to her, But She did not have any clue about the rules (5 points ascending, buddy check, etc, etc). Our first dive was okay. During our second dive, I had an issue with my mask(it was leaking continuously), With the help of the instructor I overcame it. However, My new buddy was struggling to descend. result, we weren't able to complete the second dive's tasks. At the end of the day, Crew Cheif Lili, a very nice lady, offered a scuba course instead of Open water. I was upset. Crew Chief told us, there was not much time. But, they would try to complete 4 dives if time allowed. On Day Four, From the morning I tried to educate my new buddy with padi rules. They allocated another new instructor, Hanni. She showed patience to explain all the rules to my new buddy. But, The new instructor was pissed clearly. Our 3rd dive(1st on day 4) was good. During our 4th dive, Again I had issues with my mask(Leaking water). I could not continue the 4th dive. I didn't get another chance. I ended up having only a scuba certificate after paying a hell lot of money. Let me be clear. I was not a very strong diver. But, I was expecting more support from DiversDen. My suggestion: 1. Book 4day-1night. It's the same price. They did not allow me a night stay in OceanQuest a booking from here. 2. Try not to change buddy. Changing buddy just before diving is unacceptable. especially if the new buddy does not have the same pool training. 3. Try to stick to one instructor. Training with one instructor and diving with another one creates difficulties, as different instructors have different ways of teaching. 4. Instructors should keep in mind that we are there to learn. A little kindness will not kill them. 5. For Diversden, maybe it's just a business. But for us, It's a lifetime experience. Please support us and allow us to enjoy the fullest.

      Overpriced. Overcrowded. Rushed.
Very commercial diving set up. The whole day from start to finish was rushed. I completed 3 dives and they cut the first 2 short in order to squeeze the 3rd in that day. I finished the first 2 dives after 40 mins with 100 bar of air left, so the value for money here is not good at all. The lunch was good but because there was not much time I had to rush my food down and then was back in the water 5 mins later. This made my final dive very unenjoyable. After completing the last dive they also provided fruit for the boat but didn’t announce this to any guests on the upper decks, so we completely missed out on this. This trip is completely over priced for what you get out of the day. I’ve dived all over south east Asia and this was the most expensive and worst trip I’ve been on to date. The corals are also very underwhelming, it seems the reef is very much still recovering but I doubt it ever will. I would not recommend divers den to anyone. If you want to enjoy the reef you’d be better off with a smaller dive shop away from cairns.

      Buyer Beware
Be VERY careful with this company. What they do and what they say are 2 different things. Their improper communication ruined our trip. They tell you one thing but do another. VERY disappointed and will never ever work with this dishonest company again. Their guides on the boat were helpful and friendly, but their sales and management are horrible.

      Great dives and good vibes
We had a wonderful few days on the Ocean Quest. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Special shout-out to Biscuit for successfully running a tight (but fun) ship while we were there - it must be like trying to herd cats… so, well done to all! Lovely staff. Great dives. Good vibes all round 🤘🏼

Amazing experience with the PADI open water diver course
I took part in the four day PADI open water course and I had an amazing time, especially thanks to the instructor Lewis. He is an excellent instructor, made us feel comfortable in the water, he is patient and he made sure that we had an unforgettable experience both in the pool and the two days on the reef.

A must do if you like snorkelling or diving
Had a wonderful 4 days out snorkelling on Ocean Quest. Marius was the guy in charge on our trip so thanks to him and his team. All the staff work so hard to give you a fantastic time Everything is provided, you hardly need anything on board just a bit of cash if you want to buy any drinks. Beds really comfy, masses of food. Great fun and thanks again

      ⚠️BUYER BEWARE 🚨 - Rude, Illegal, Scam
Business does not honor its own terms and conditions and is illegally withholding refund. I had to cancel my Open Water course on day one, which should result in a $160 AUD fee as outlined in their own terms and conditions. Divers Den is illegally charging $330 AUD in cancellation fees, claiming their terms and conditions were a “mistake”. I have spent many hours over the last 12 days repeatedly trying to solve this with their team, who for the most part has been incredibly rude and unresponsive, and attempted to gaslight me consistently. They also updated their terms and conditions after I raised my complaint in an attempt to invalidate it. Requests to speak with their management team or legal team have gone unanswered. Complaints and disputes filed with PADI for their accreditation, the Queensland Office of Fair Trade for their breach of contract, and with the credit card company for the charge itself, but save yourself the headache and avoid at all costs - you never know what will go wrong and this company will take every opportunity available to scam you and worsen your experience. Do yourself a favor and go with ProDive instead!!!!

Bought the Minke Dive Experience for my partner’s 50th birthday, BIG mistake. Boat is very old and one of the generators blew after 24hours into the trip. I saw frantic staff rushing around, putting their life jackets on and yelling to each other to meet in the dining room. I wondered “Do I need a life jacket?” - I told my partner and we both didn’t know what to do or what was going on. No information until we were told at lunchtime of day 2 that we weren’t going any further north and wouldn’t be visiting the Minke site at Ribbon reefs 5 and 10….it was appalling. Ended up parked in the dirty dock back in Cairns 630am of day 3 and spent the night there. Complaints were made and then two managers from the company came in to the boat to “negotiate compensation” but it was all for show because they ended all communication there and then, emailed a voucher about three days later for a 1 night 2 day dive with them (why they would think we would sign up for that again is beyond me). It was unfair. The true test of a company and what they think of their customers, happens when things don’t go to plan….don’t risk it. Other companies doing similar tours but cost a little more…I say pay the extra. Don’t waste your money here.

Had a fantastic day on the reef with Divers Den on Aquaquest. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a day trip out of Cairns, especially now while passenger numbers are restricted for COVID. We did 2 great dives (even though the water was freezing). I got a fantasic deal with their 40% Queensland locals discount, only $152 for the day inc. dives. Super fun and professional crew, free nitrox, small groups (3 ppl per guide), nice gear (as I found out when my own bcd spontaniously died after 10 faithful years of service, RIP Bella), hot showers and a yummy lunch. PLUS WHALES!!!!

I had the most amazing time on board the Ocean Quest on the 5 day/4 night liveaboard dive trip this October. Levi and his team were fantastic, fun, friendly and highly professional.

The food onboard was plenty and excellent (compliments to the Chef!) and the dive sites were nothing short of spectacular, and we also had perfect conditions all week, which helped.

I was lucky to board the Ocean Quest in Cairns at the start of the voyage and return to Cairns the same way after 4 nights. People booking different trips (1,2,3 nights) would have been picked up by day boat, dive on it in the morning, and then meet up with the Ocean Quest on an outer reef site - and/or vice versa. This way, the mix of people on board changes every day.

This doesn’t affect the daily routine much for the remaining passengers, in fact the schedule is the same every day: breakfast, 2 dives, lunch followed with a longer break (during which the above mentioned changeover occurs), one afternoon dive, and a night dive after dinner, then dessert before the bar closes at 10pm. The only thing I would change is to have a first dive before breakfast instead, because both the first morning dive and the night dive is done with a pretty full stomach straight after the meals.

The boat is moved twice daily, in the morning before breakfast and at lunchtime, which means there were plenty of sites to explore during the trip. However because the boat only visited the Norman and Saxon Reefs, they could not avoid visiting two sites twice, which was not a big deal but more variety would have been appreciated.

The twin cabin was more spacious than expected, but they could use a little TLC with the cupboard walls showing some black mould and could generally be cleaned around the edges a bit more. The window shades are also not supposed to be opened, perhaps they could be replaced at some point with new ones or a different system. But with a desk, enough power ports and a reasonably spacious bathroom with shower and a button-push toilet (as opposed to a “pump” marine toilet) still very comfortable all in all. And did I mention the showers? Always hot and with excellent water pressure, just perfect every time!

When travelling solo, you most likely share a cabin with someone else. I was matched with a diver roughly the same age, same qualifications (Rescue Diver), same number of dives (we both did our 100th dive on this trip), and on top of that similar jobs - it was either well planned or just a coincidence, but of course we got on extremelywell and remained dive buddies for the whole trip, and therefore never needed to pay for a guide to dive with us (which is otherwise $15/dive/person).

I could definitely recommend Divers Den and the Ocean Quest Liveaboard. The longer, the better and I would do it again, although next time perhaps on a Minke Whale trip for something different.

My partner and I did a 2 day live-aboard cruise with Diver's Den and it was a great time! It was my first time ever diving and we signed up for the "Intro Diver" sessions, which meant we needed to hold on to our guide during the dives. The first two dives were great when it was just the two of us, but further dives had three intro divers. The guide was great and handled us all very well, but would recommend having multiple guides for this group as it was less comfortable for the divers (and I'm sure the guide wouldn't mind having one less diver on their arm). Overall, Albert and Biscuit were awesome guides though so can't complain, they both pointed out some cool features and kept us all safe during the dives! Sharks in the Dark, an option for non night divers, was a little weird. I won't go into it too much, but both my partner and I didn't love it and would recommend to skip it and just hang out on the boat.

The accommodations were surprisingly great! I think the shower was larger than some I've seen in nearby hotels. Food was solid, but limited options for dinner. Besides the great staff, the best part was definitely the people you interact with. A lot of folks into the same things (obviously connected by diving) and open to meeting new people on our trip!

Overall, great trip and would recommend if you like to dive!

We did an introductory dive (we had zero previous experience) with Diver’s Den and recommend it highly. All of the crew (~8) were friendly and helpful, and our instructor Louis in particular was great. The scenery underwater was spectacular. There wasn’t a large number of passengers (~15) so plenty of room to spread out on the lovely boat. There were up to 4 intro divers to an instructor so we each got a lot of attention. The food was good, served in individual boxes due to COVID, with some fruit and muffins for afternoon tea. There was plenty of time to snorkel after our dives, and lots of fish and coral to see. We were even lucky enough to see a shark! Well worth the money if you want to do an introductory dive, we felt very taken care of all day.

We took our 2 kids aged 3 and 5, on the snorkelling tour out to the reef. We were the only family with young kids on board. Fabio was in charge for the day and made sure that Patrick and Maria were accompanying us out into the ocean to ensure that the kids remained safe and enjoyed the reef experience (life jacket and life ring provided). We were blown away by the level of attention received. Patrick even pointed out to my 3 year old "Nemo" the fish who was tucked away behind some coral - it blew her mind as she looked down into the ocean with the mask on and she even told the Captain of the boat when we returned that she had found Nemo! My wife and I certainly did not expect such a high level of care and customer service when we boarded the boat. Our kids are very lucky for the experience and we highly recomend Divers Den - Exceeded all expectations. Regards Nathan and Briony.

3 days diving (10 dives) and 2 nights accommodation on Ocean Quest were wonderful in many ways. Our cabin was a good size with big windows and a good hot shower in our bathroom. Good portions at every meal and we were well provided for as vegans and vegetarians. The dive crew were always happy to help carrying gear etc, but you have to pay extra for a dive guide and they don’t take any underwater photos. I was lucky to find a great dive buddy so we listened to the dive briefings and went our own way within the recommendations. My husband doesn’t dive and it was too rough for easy snorkelling so he was bored soggy. Also they had the air con on full time inside the boat and we had to wrap up warm including in our cabin - it got down to 17C. Not what we expected from a tropical holiday! A few people said that they had slept in their clothes to keep warm.
The crew made the most of challenging sea conditions and took us to safe places to dive where we saw so many wonderful fish, turtles, sharks, corals, anemones etc. Be warned that you will have to step from one boat to another for transfers and make sure that they transfer all your bags.

We're thrilled to hear that your 3-day diving experience on the Ocean Quest was filled with many wonderful moments. It's fantastic that you enjoyed your cabin, the meals. We're sorry to hear your husband had a less-than-ideal time snorkeling due to the rough conditions. Your insights about onboard temperatures are noted. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide a more satisfying experience. Thank you for choosing Divers Den and for your valuable feedback.

Once in a lifetime opportunity to dive in the Great Barrier reef was shattered!! I paid over £100 and twice confirmed my wish to complete the introductory dive on the reef during this trip. On the way there, medical forms were handed round, and 5 people aboard our ship were denied the opportunity to dive based on minor medical conditions which they had declared (such as pet allergies and grommet surgery aged 4). These decisions were based on zero professional discussion - no one on board the trip seemed to even know what grommets are, and even-though several of us have completed PADI certified dives several times before this, the staff would not listen to us. I was completely torn up and appalled at how these situations were handled. Correspondence with the office since then has been very dismissive and unsympathetic. Unimpressed is an understatement!

Hi B9443BGlaurenm, Thank you for your review, We are sorry to hear that you did not get to dive due to pre-existing medical conditions. Queensland government standards state that any pre-existing medical issues must be signed off by a medical practitioner. All operators visiting the Great Barrier Reef follow these standards to ensure customer safety. It is not our crews job to Have any medical knowledge on the customers medical conditions but to only require a signature from a practitioner to sign the customer off as fit to dive. Medical history that involves the ears such as grommet surgery would be very dangerous to dive with due to change in water pressure as you descend. Also, It was made known to the crew that the customer with pet allergies carried an asthma inhaler. The lungs are effected while diving and asthma is a very dangerous condition to dive with if not cleared through a medical practitioner. I am sure you understand that we hold all customers safety in highest regard and try to avoid any potential medical emergencies at all costs. We hope you managed to enjoy our beautiful boat and snorkel locations.

Fabio and his crew were absolutely amazing, my Mum was having anxiety about snorkeling. Fabio spent the time talking to Mum trying to find out what her fears were. He then told Mum that she would have a one on one guide with her while they were snorkeling. This made Mum feel super comfortable and she went out feeling more confident. The crew went above and beyond their duties. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Food was great and their prices were very reasonable.

Firstly I have to thank the staff- Axel in particular. I arrived for a triple dive and only realised at the dock that i had booked it for the wrong (in the past) date. Luckily the boat wasn't totally full and they were able to accommodate me! That was great- they did not have to and i really appreciated it as i only had one day in Cairns.
I did a guided dive with James, he was a great guide and was really helpful. The second and third dives were much better than the first.
The boat takes 80 people, you need to specify (and pay for) a guided dive but the staff try to put similar experience together. There are snorkelers, certified divers and introductory divers on board but the staff managed to keep everything on track and gave a great service. Thanks again!

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
