About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 2019retirement0 contributionsParonella ParkTour guide very enthusiastic. Really it is just a lot of broken concrete. falling down buildings. This venue is not suitable for wheelie walkers or wheelchairs as their are multiple stairs, gravel and uneven surfaces. Even people with walking issues would have problems getting around. Entry to this venue was part of our day trip with Northern Experience Eco Tours however I would not pay $47 entrance fee if I went on my own.. This is way overpriced for what you get.Written 4 December 2019
- rhizaf20180 contributionsUnforgettable and Fun day tourBrett is the best! Very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. There was never a dull moment in the tour! Thank you very much! Unforgettable Lake Barrine, its just beautiful...and the scones are lovely!Written 20 September 2019
- Guide7220170 contributionsWaterfalls, rainforest, Paronella Park Day TripWe had such a great day, Brett, our tour guide and driver, was a gem: friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining and the tour so well organised. The morning cruise on lake Barrine was particularly interesting as well as the amazing giant curtain figtree and the guided visit of Peronella Park. To top it up, the morning tea (fresh baked scones) and lunch to suit such a variety of tastes were much appreciated. Thank you. Wayne and Lindsay St. BakerWritten 3 July 2019
- Thommo390 contributionsbrilliant day outif you need an interesting day out away from the sea for a change, look no further. this was a great day out, i have done this twice now. Paronella park has to be seen to be believed, every place on teh trip is worth a visit, so go for the full day optionWritten 27 June 2019
- CrompvoetsF0 contributionsAn excellent visit to Paronella Park,As someone who was involved in the tourism industry for many years it was a treat to find a Company with a local guide such as Brett whose knowledge of the region was incredible for the entire journey to and from Paronella Park. Having been to thisPark twice previously over the past 20 years It was a pleasure to learn so much more from Brett during our travels almost on Kilometre basis that we had never been made aware of on our past trips. A very enjoyable day not only at this excellent Park but the entire well planned day.Written 26 June 2019
- robertbeverlys0 contributionsFull day Eco tourFantastic day. Thanks to. Brett for his great commentary all day. We drove through the Tablelands areas, saw some beautiful waterfalls, had an "all you can eat" lunch, visited Paronella Park, saw the curtain fig tree, two giant kauri trees and much more!Written 26 June 2019
- JBedell20 contributionsMost Enjoyable!I want to start off saying that Brett was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about everything. He was able to answer any and all questions that came at him, along with telling us some great stories. Our tour had a variety of people that spoke a variety of languages, and he did his best to accommodate everyone with ease. It was clear to see that he enjoys his work. The tour was very comprehensive, from amazing views, to learning about the varieties of plant life, and the history of the many places we drove through. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone. Thank you Northern Experience Eco Tours!Written 20 April 2019
- MRoth180 contributionsBig day in the busBut worthwhile. Brett was a very friendly guy. Eager to chat and share his experience of the area. - Yuliia B0 contributionsNothern Cairns fantastic dayIT was amazing day we spend with my mum and group of tourist from around the world. Thank you Brett for guiding us and providing so much interesting information. The lake trip and tea house was a nice start of the day. And it was just a beginning. We were impressed by for tree and surrounding nature and water falls. And Paranella Park was fantastic end of the day. Wish you all the best and nice tourists. - Gabriella B0 contributionsGreat TourWould have rated this tour 5 stars except for two things. Lunch was an Italian buffet at Roscoe's in Innisfail. As Innisfail is known for having a large Italian influence I was looking forward to eating at Roscoe's. Unfortunately it was the most ordinary tasting food I've come across. Would have preferred to have eaten at Subway across the road! The second thing was that the itinerary included a tropical fruit tasting. The business had since closed but all we got instead was a stop at a banana stall! I had been looking forward very much to this tasting so was disappointed. However our very informative driver, Brett provided us with a crocodile siting! Plenty of time provided to see Paronella Park. Boat cruise on Lake Barrine unexpectedly enjoyable! In all tour well worth taking. Thanks Brett!Written 11 September 2018
- m_oo_s_e_810 contributionsGreat day outThis was our first visit to Cairns and we wanted to see a few places other than the reef and Kuranda etc. This tour seemed to include all the highlights around the area, including the stunning Paronella Park. Brett was a great guide, lots of fun and informative throughout the day. Our kids enjoyed the day even though it was a long day with lots of time on the coach. Would definitely recommend Brett and this tour.Written 9 June 2018

This is a really great tour if you would like to visit the Tablelands and Paronella Park but don't have a lot of time and/or don't want to do lots of driving! I got picked up around 8:00 near my accommdation and straight away Steve, our guide and driver for the day, was very friendly. On the drive to our first stop, you choose what drink you would like for morning tea and what meal you would like for lunch. The whole journey, Steve was giving us lots of information on everything we saw. Our first stop after the Gillies Range was Lake Barrine Teahouse where we had our drink and some delicious scones. After we headed to the Curtain Fig Tree where we had a little walk and then onto Millaa Millaa Falls. Really nice waterfall and you can go for a swim if you feel like it (but the water is pretty cold!). Then we went for lunch at a nice family-run Teahouse which overlooks the Tablelands. I definitely recommend paying the extra to have your morning tea and lunch included because it was really yummy, homemade, and everyone found it filling so we weren't hungry for the rest of the day. After lunch was Paronella Park. There is a half hour guided tour of the gardens and then around have around an hour to explore yourselves. There isn't much left of the buildings but the gardens are really beautiful and there is a really nice waterfall. We got back into Cairns around 17:30 so it is a long day but it is worth it! Everything is included and I got to see and learn about lots of beautiful places!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It's always lovely to hear how much you enjoyed our full day Waterfalls, Rainforest and Paronella Park day tour. I'm glad that Steve made you feel so welcome and was able to help you to experience this area with plenty of time at each of our attractions. Being a small group tour, we do try to take the time to allow flexibility in your day and if that means taking time out to show our clients something we think they will enjoy, then we can. Our day is as much about the people as it about the area we visit and our guides do go above and beyond because they love it as much as you. Thank you for traveling with us.

It was a relatively small group, which I appreciated. This tour is also suitable for the elderly and there isn't much walking involved (if you don't wish to walk) - we had a couple of elderly in our group (including my mother). We first had morning tea at Lake Barrine, and thereafter went to see the curtain fig tree, and millaa millaa falls, where a few on our tour went for a dip. There was a guided tour at Paronella Park and some free time to roam around. The last stop was Babinda Boulders (would recommend doing the short trail to Devil's Pool). I can't remember our guide's name, I think it was Jim? He was very energetic and enthusiastic, and was very determined to find us some platypus! We had an enjoyable day.

We were picked up right on time at our hotel by our lovely driver and tour guide.
Michelle was so pleasant and friendly as we were checked in to get to our mini coach with a small group of 19 adventure passengers. We love a smaller group as things get done more efficiently.
Unfortunately for us it was a very wet day. However, Michelle made sure that she drives us safely to each destination while she tells us a little bit of our activities for the day.
She has a good sense of humour and she has a good knowledge of information about the places we have visited. We enjoyed our morning tea at Lake Barrine Crater Lake though we did not have the cruise on the boat because the boat is apparently out of order.
Unfortunately it was also foggy so we did not see much view of the Walsh's Pyramid or at Heales Lookout but the trip to the Curtain Fig Tree is well worth it with a bit of interesting story from Michelle. She drove us to the beautiful tourist attraction town of Malanda and once again Michelle told us a few more interesting stories about this town. The wet weather did not stop us from enjoying the visit to Milla Milla Falls however, only on tourist went for a dip. We did not have enough time to go for a swim as the change rooms were closed and the water was not crystal clear due to the recent rainfall. The highlight of.our tour is our 2 hours stay at Paronella Park. Mena Creek was overflowing with water. The walk to the Hanging Bridge was great specially with the Waterfalls that was gushing with so.much water from the rainfalls over the last few days. The story behind Paronella Park is exciting but the Castles are definitely in need of maintenance and repair. The gift shops is quite ordinary in comparison to Skyrail gift shop which we visited the day before. Given the day was so wet and miserable, we concluded that Michelle did an excellent job to make our trip safe, enjoyable, exciting, amusing and memorable. For someone new in her job with Northern Experience EcoTours, we will rate Michelle's performance as remarkably and surprisingly very good. She handled everything with ease, warmth and professionalism. Well done and a great job Michelle.

Steve was an excellent driver, we felt very safe. He was an informative guide of great depth and breath and it was very informative. The small group (of 4) was beneficial for what we wanted to do and the time spent. He provided options for us to choose from, and was flexible to changes. The itinerary was great, however unfortunately we did not end up doing the boat trip on Lake Barrine which was disappointing. We would have liked to do that and the Mamu skywalk. Overall a great trip and Steve was very knowledgeable and accommodating! Would thoroughly recommend this tour! Louise & Sarah

The tour started with our tour guide picking us up right on the agreed time, not even a minute late! Punctuality was really amazing!
To be honest, it was a horrible day to go for a day tour considering it was raining heavily and was cloudy everywhere. Our tour guide Michelle was amazing, lightening up the mood and creating a great vibe that thoroughly made the tour much more enjoyable despite the weather conditions. She had a great sense of humour, drove really well and steady on the slippery conditions, and was also a really knowledgeable guide. Plus we found out that she had only started with this company just a couple of days ago! Impressed!

If we could give 6 * we would! Picked up exactly on time, this small group of 12 were taken to a fabulous lookout, a magnificent Curtain Fig Tree,Lake Barrine, MillaaMillaa Waterfall and Paronella Park. Our driver Steve was an encyclopedia of knowledge on the entire area and was extremely respectful of us all and understanding of his passenger's needs. Our morning tea at the Lake Barrine Tea House was absolutely delicious as was our amazing home made lunch. The visit to Paronella Park was definitely the icing on the cake. What an absolutely fabulously interesting place! The way back to Cairns was via Innisfail and other little beachside towns. Thanks Steve for a fantastic full day out. Would most definitely do this trip again in a heartbeat.❤👍

Absolutely jam packed day and well worth it. The tour bus driver is knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. His also full of knowledge about the local area and works hard at it. The locations were great it's a long drive but we'll worth it. Take the option with the food it was really good. I should have got the pizza instead although the pie was fantastic. Maybe they will show customers some photos going forward of what to expect for lunch because it was delish. Being a foodie myself coming from Melbourne I didn't expect the food to be this good. Oh and the home made scones!!! So anyway do yourself a favour book this tour sit back relax and enjoy. Got so many photo worthy images from rain forrest floor right to the large fig tree. Highly recommend this tour.

Steve was our tour guide and was a really good one at that. Steve has a great personality and made sure to tell you the important stuff, but did not bore you with excess details.
The day was exactly as described in the booking. We headed out from Cairns and made a stop at a little cafe for a drink and snack. After that we visited a few places for sightseeing and the stopped for lunch after the falls. Paronella Park was nice to see and where we wrapped up the day before driving back to town.
We could have done the entire trip in a car on our own in about half the time but it was nice not to have to drive in a foreign land.

This was a small and intimate but beautiful and eye opening tour. Simon is an exceptional guide, knowledgeable, witty, courteous and attentive. He took us to gorgeous parts of rainforest, as well as stopping at lovely lake Barrine and Milla Milla Falls. Do try scones at Lake Barrine Teahouse, they are lovely! Beautiful and serene spot, with well tended garden. We didn't feel like swimming in Milla Milla Falls, weather was rainy and apparently water is 12 degrees, but still a great photo opportunity. At Paronella Park a guide showed us around, telling amusing stories about the Park. In the rain it looked the part, atmospheric and haunted. We covered 360 km in a day but it was enjoyable and we were kept interested and involved all the time.

An excellent day tour, expertly conducted by Mick. A great group of fellow tourists made this day a load of fun! Lake Barrine, Millaa Millaa Falls, Paronelle Park. The only negative aspect was we didn't spend much time at Paronella Park as several of the group were too tired after their reef adventure the day before. The itinerary stated 2 hrs free time after the guided tour, but we were only allocated 45 mins, which wasn't long enough to relax & enjoy this wonderful property to its fullest extent.

There's a bit of walking around Paronella Park but you can pick the level you're comfortable with. It's an absolutely amazing tour!

If you're doing the tour the coach takes you right down to where the falls are. There is no walking to them at all. There is a Carpark, for private vehicles, a bit further up but its not a' trek' to get to them.
