- RebeccaC2950 contributionsTubing Fun!!!Super fun half day activity! Great to do something different. Well organised, it was pouring so made changing etc tricky but still had a ball and a great way to travel down the river in beautiful landscape! Tip - take your own camera in a water pouch as crew don’t have much time to take photos.Written 18 January 2024
- jeaniedoyle80 contributionsFun timeHad the best day tubing with Aussie Drifterz.. lucky to have Dan ( BUSH CHOOK) and Jessie ( BUTT MAN .. our nickname for him ) they guided us down the rapids of fun with a little bit of roller coaster ride in-between Laugh a minute. - JillRay100 contributionsExciting day TubingEnjoyed this experience with my wife and 4 friends from work. It was a great day on the water and crew did a magnificent job looking after our needs. Water was a bit low but we will go back again when the flows are up. This is a must try and extremely exciting.Written 19 November 2022
- U7036VRkarenw0 contributionsWell Worth the pricePick up from north beaches was a plus for the early morning start, and no additional costs. Guides Levi, Kyle and Dan were informative and looked after us well. Nice relaxing morning in the water. enjoyed it and would recommend, priced extremely well for what you get. Plus the scenery is just beautiful.Written 5 November 2022
- JaneMeera0 contributionsFun and safe with excellent guidesThis was fun and safe. The guides were excellent and made the experience great. The bus was a bit old and grotty as were the helmets and life jackets. The rapids are very gentle and perfectly suitable for kids under 10. Once again I would like to shout out the guides who were friendly, funny, great communicators and kept the whole thing very safe.Written 23 October 2022
- frenchJB0 contributionsOk Tubing - Badly managedTubing experience was ok but too short. I don’t regret doing it but wouldn’t recommend it. It was ok but not worth the price. Website talks about 2 hours but in the bus on the way, they said 1h-1h30mns. The water was also quite shallow so often stuck on rocks. The tube and especially the shoes are way too old. It took us 2 1/2 hours from pick up to getting to the site. The group was too big for the number of helpers. The young people managing were out of their depth. One of them cared more about his looks and wrestling with his mates than looking after the guests and making sure people were safe.Written 6 October 2022

- kate_boddington0 contributionsAwesome!!Gosh we had a great time! Lots of thrills and spills and suitable for all - even our daring 5 year old. Izzy and Marco were such fun guides and shared lots of great local knowledge with our group. Got to go over half a dozen groups of rapids with a swimming hole and bridge jump thrown in. Would totally do again!! So fun for a family to do togetherWritten 9 December 2020
- Suzi M0 contributionsFun but was painful the next dayPickup and the day was great. Very friendly guide and a lovely group of people to tube with. Would have been a better experience if I had a tube with a bottom on it. I was given a bottomless tube because I am a larger lady and initially I thought that was a lovely gesture. However I was soon to learn that it was extremely uncomfortable and because you sag in the tube my bottom hit every rock going down the rapids. The next day I could hardly walk and the bruising was amazing. Expect a rough ride with the rapids and then a lovely relaxing time floating. Overall I would definitely do it again in a bottomed tube and I would do it again with Aussie Drifterz 👍Written 7 December 2020
- alexandra_anthonsen0 contributionsLoads of FunWe had so much fun on this tour. There was a lot of water in the river and so it was moving quite quickly. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. A bit more hectic than I expected, but in no way scary. Would definitely recommend.Written 23 September 2020

We had a great time on the river tubing adventure. The tour crew were all awesome and fun and the water and rapids were perfect, especially on a hot Cairns day. The only negative was that we were expecting a maximum group size of 15 as per the tour ad however our group size ended up being 55 which we think was far too big as you did have to spend time floating around waiting for everyone to go through rapids and the guides to play games with all the kids. Also the show hire ended up being $20 pp and not $5 as per the ad, as there is a $15 levy charged per person.

Wet and a little wild, the freshwater Mulgrave River is perfect for a little calm drifting and then a few breath taking moments. This half day tubing tour is suitable for guests aged 5 – whatever years old you are fit enough to put on a life jacket and climb back into a tube after you have fallen out, because staying in the tube is optional. We booked this trip as part of a day trip with Carnival Tours, we were picked up from the terminal, took a quick detour to the depot to pick up the guides and fit people for footwear who were renting them $5, it’s a 40minute ride out. The weather was perfect, it drizzled a little keeping it fresh, the green back drop was gorgeous and the guides were fabulous pushing some of us laggers and pulling some of us along the quieter waters. We had a great time and found the water refreshing. We were a family of 6 aged 8, 11, 30 - 60 years old. Thanks team for giving us new memories to share. Highly recommend this activity if you are visiting Cairns however you like to travel. Bring your own tube and camp near by, you will love it.
From Cairns Cruise Terminal if you are participating in a Cruise organised activity you wait for your tour to be called, walk down to the buses, scan a QR code and fill out an online form. On the bus there is also an indemnity form you are required to complete for each person in the party. There are no meals provided, however after the tour we were provided a bar and popper. There is no where to change so after the tour you board wet, arrive semi damp and there are no toilets or stops to change. The bus stopped at a service station about 11am for a toilet stop and quick food pick up. We bought a subway for our girls to eat as breakfast was about 7am for them on the ship as they are up early.
Tips: There is a coffee shop Wharf One Cafe down the road with a great selection of food and coffee, if you are looking for something to eat. We had a gluten free food need in our party and they raved about the food selection.

The best parts about this activity were the really long time in the river and the beautiful scenery. The rapids were just the right level for us and we all had a great time while in the water.
However, our experience started with a 7 am pick up and it took us over 2 hours to get in the water. They drove us to the depot and told us to wait, then they forgot us and the bus left without us. Which meant they had to come back for us. They were clearly not having a good day as after the tour the key snapped in the ignition of the bus and we were faced with a min 30 min wait (all wet) . Luckily they found us seats on another bus but the other family we arrived with was left to wait. Both buses were extremely old and in poor state with cracked windows, broken vents, ripped and stained seats. All of the equipment, especially the life vests and shoes were also in very poor state. $5 rental for those shoes was a bit of a joke.
Overall, the service was a 3 but the tubing was nice so I am giving them 4 stars.
They told us to look to FB for photos but I don’t recall them asking us for permission to post pics of the kids on a public group. We are OK with this but I know many people who wouldn’t be. Other tours we have been on shared pics via email which seems more appropriate to me.
The whole operation seemed a bit of a conveyer belt with little regard for quality beyond the obvious safety requirements.

Bring something natural to your Cairns memories! So I found this tour and joined it. The current was also gentle and there was a good rapid every now and then, which was very satisfying for adults and children. When I applied, they sent me a link to the agreement, and I was a bit drawn to the number of disclaimers, but I couldn't help it. We recommend that you complete this first.
There were two buses and nearly 60 participants on the day, but only two groups of Japanese people joined. On the bus, there were explanations of luggage and preparations, and when we got to the river, there were explanations for safety measures. It's all in English, so the bar is a bit high.
There is nowhere to change, so you should bring a large bath towel.
We were handed out juice and snacks while sneaking around the river and couldn't eat them lol
It was a few hours tour, but all in all it was a pleasant memory.

Steve & Christian were amazing guides.
We had such a great time. They were professional and made us feel really safe whilst at the same time making us laugh constantly and really doing everything they could to ensure we had the best time possible.
We will/have definitely recommend Aussie Drifterz to anyone heading to Cairns looking for an exciting adventure.

Overall, the guides were great, the scenery fantastic and the tubing itself was really fun for beginners, especially the kids. Worth the money.
Details - After a rough start (nearly 40 mins late being picked up) we then headed out. Agree with a previous review in that the website says 2 hours tubing and yet on the bus, they said 1 - 1 1/2 hours. You do one small section, then everyone lines up to have 1 person at a time jump off a bridge (good fun!). Then you do another small stretch and walk back to do that same stretch a few times. Another bus met us there, so there were lots of people )approx 60).
More time tubing, in long stretches of river, would have been better. Snack was a popper and a muesli bar.
Overall, a great morning out!

We went with our 3 children when it was pouring down and it made it more fun once in the tubes versus a hot day so we didn’t mind that.
The commentary in the van journeys there and back about our surroundings was good and really appreciated, the team all tried to ensure it was fun - and it was. That said, maybe the water was just low that day despite the rain - or it’s seasonal - but if you’re a thrill seeker it’s not for you, you’ll be bored as there’s no white water or fast moving sections except one little part.
If it’s a leisurely water activity and river coast with zero risk or high effort then this is a good option. Our three kids (6yo, 9yo and 10yo) all wished there was more excitement and as adults, if I’d booked for an adventure I would have been disappointed just because the river was so low and slow. It’s nothing the staff can dictate but just mentioning as we were hoping for more excitement so check before booking perhaps?
An area that could be improved on for families, couples or singles is just to erect some cheap tarpaulins between the pick up vehicles, or across a section of trees, or just anything as shelter from the rain for a couple of minutes when it’s the end of the trip and a really wet day. We were asked not to sit on the seats wet but there was no shelter from heavy rain to get dry except the minibus so that would be a quick, cheap and practical solution just so people can get wet clothes off under a towel for the 45/50min journey back to Cairns.

Great morning tour with the guides. The river waters were amazing , crystal clear. The safety instructions were precise and to the point. The overall experience was fantastic. We had a bit of both worlds, calm and soothing waters and some fun and exciting rapids. The tour last about 1 1/2 hours with the guides watching out for everyone all the way to make sure we all stayed in a group and we’re safe at all times. Highly recommend this tour.

Fun experience in beautiful scenery. Lovely location, gorgeous river, nice chance to cool off from the heat.
Mostly a relaxing experience, with a couple of little thrills on grade two rapids. Excellent alternative to rafting if you have kids under 12. Guides were great. Pick-up process to all the different hotels took a while, so if you have access to a car, recommend joining at one of the later stops on the route. Would do again.

It took so long to get there with extended stops - particularly to work out a large groups payment. Surely this should have been sorted out earlier.
The staff seemed pissed off & impatient. Bit confusing on arrival as people everywhere.
I thought we were going to be in the water for 1.5 hrs as explained but would be for 30 min max & was more walking carrying tube.
If someone went wrong was or did something wrong staff were rude & angry.
A prima & muesli bar afterwards - what am I - 5??

Hi there,
I have a quick question about this activity:
It shows that the departure time is 07:45 AM with approximately 4:30 duration, right, if I booked it for 5 people, can I be sure that the activity will be over by 3pm, coz one of the participants need to catch up a flight back to Melbourne at 5:30pm on 19th April 2021.
Please, let me know as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance!
