Day 1: Cairns, Great Barrier Reef and Cooktown (L, D)
Depart Cairns at 8:30am for your scenic flight. Fly over the Barrier Reef towards Cooktown where your historical tour takes you through the history of Captain Cook’s visit and the Gold Rush days that brought miners from around the world to today’s relaxed lifestyle.
Your tour includes all points of interest in town, see where the Endeavour was rebuilt; Cooks Monument, enjoy the view from grassy hill lookout and walk the pioneer cemetery before enjoying lunch at the local RSL. Enjoy some free time to explore town and do souvenir shopping.
Depart Cooktown at approximately 1:30pm and fly past Lizard Island with its magnificent Blue Lagoon. Take in the remote tropical wilderness as you fly around Cape York, Australia’s northern most point, then on to the Torres Straits to Horn Island for your overnight at Gateway Resort with time to explore its Heritage Museum and Art Gallery.
    Day 2: Horn Island, Thursday Island (B, L, D)
Transfer by ferry cruise to the fascinating Thursday Island, once a remote outpost of the British Empire, a vital port serving shipping through the straits and a valuable pearling industry, it is now the administrative center for the Torres Strait Islands.
Your tour takes you through areas that have little changed in time. Discover Green Hill Fort built to defend against the Russians in Crimean War days with its underground museum and spectacular view of the surrounding island, Prince of Wales, Horn, Good, Hammond and Friday with its pearling station.
Today will be full of enjoyment and relaxation with the Torres Strait Islands a pleasant surprise you will always remember.
After lunch, fly south over the Torres Straits and down the west coast of the Cape to Weipa. This remote and little known region is a haven for barramundi, prawn (shrimp) and is the perfect habitat for crocodiles with its continuous beaches and numerous river deltas. Arrive at Weipa set on magnificent Albatross Bay before enjoying a delicious dinner with a complimentary wine while watching the beautiful sunset into the Gulf of Carpentaria Sea.
Day 3: Weipa, Musgrave Station, Cairns (B, L)
Explore Weipa, once a remote mission and see the vast bauxite mining operation an enterprise to be admired and a well established divers modem community. After morning tea, fly over Coen in the center of the cape to Musgrave Station for lunch. On the way back to Cairns fly over Laura, the Daintree River Valley and Port Douglas where you can look down on the inland river systems and homesteads of Cape York.
