About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Michelle J0 contributionsDo not miss this tour !Well organised, very good communication, on time pick up and stick to time lines on the day. James is a very knowledgeable tour guide and pleasant. Highly recommend this tour.Written 13 December 2024
- Hafeelzz0 contributionsAmazing, comfortable and beautiful!Had a great time on the tour! The Mossman gorge was beautiful and the trip through the Daintrees was amazing! Daryl was our tour guide and had a wealth of knowledge on the tour. Daryl took the time to take us through the rainforest on a guided tour and stopped to point out all the native fauna and flora on the trip. I would definitely be coming back to explore more of the area and we’d be looking to see if Daryl is still around!Written 7 December 2024
- maudc7800 contributionsAmazing day with excellent tourguide! We had an amazing day with our tourguide Darryl! He was able to tell us lots of information about the area, culture and history. On the way back, he even drove us through Palm Cove and Port Douglas and gave us several recommandations about do's and dont's. We definitely recommend this tour!Written 25 November 2024
- Anil L0 contributionsExcellent Fun Learning ExperienceExcellent tour, covering great places & good care for the customer with a delicious lunch & tea break included. Our superb guide Jim was a font of great knowledge relating to the tour who created a fabulous atmosphere to make this an amazing learning experience in a very fun way. Discovery tours you live up to your name!! Thank you!Written 15 November 2024
- Charles Z0 contributionsA very long bus rideSpend over 90% of the time on the bus. And when we did get out it was rushed. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but we did not pay for just the bus ride. Would have preferred a much much longer time walking through the rainforest instead of zipping past it in a bus..Written 9 November 2024
- 736GailM0 contributionsA must do excursion for Cairns.Definitely something to add to your visit to Cairns (though it was a long day). We were picked up promptly at our hotel by our guide, Darrell who entertained us throughout the trip with knowledgeable information and anecdotes on the area and sites we visited. I’m glad we went with the small group option as our guide was able to spend more time with us individually plus we got to meet our fellow travellers in a more intimate setting. The lunch at the Daintree Tree House was absolutely incredible and on par with many five star gourmet restaurants. I had a beautifully grilled kangaroo steak and my husband had a very tasty barramundi - both dishes were accompanied by a rainbow of local fruits which our host, Richard, went through in detail. The swim in Mossman Gorge was refreshing and the cruise on the Daintree River was fun as Jed helped us in tracking down several crocodiles - including Scarface! The one blip was Cape Tribulation as we were only able to check out the beach as the trail was closed. One tip - buyTWO ice creams at the Daintree Ice Cream shop. They’re delectable and you’ll want seconds!Written 7 November 2024
- 852tommasoz0 contributionsGood day around DaintreeReally nice tour of the national park and different beaches. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and provided a lot of commentary during both ways which made the tour quite rich in terms of content (even though some breaks to rest sometimes would have been needed).Written 5 November 2024
- Niffie1230 contributionsAdventures in AustraliaIt was an informative tour. Adrian H was great. It’s a long day, a lot of time is spent on the bus. Wish we were able to walk around the rainforest more. It’s a good trip if you need a break from the sun. Glad we did it but no need to repeat.Written 25 October 2024
- katiewM8674YO0 contributionsA perfect day in daintreeAn absolutely perfect day in Daintree with Steve. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about Daintree and the surrounding areas, and the ecosystem of the rainforest. Full of interesting facts and stories providing an almost constant commentary throughout the day. He made the trip so enjoyable and even added a couple of extra bonus sights for us along the way. Mossman gorge was beautiful and very refreshing for a cool down dip, lunch stop was beautiful food in the heart of the rainforest and cape tribulation was well worth the visit. Yes it’s a long day, but with limited time in Cairns it was absolutely worth it and the day passed quickly. Would not change the trip at all and would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to explore Cairns and the fabulous surrounding areas. Thank you Steve for such a great dayWritten 19 October 2024
- heatherwP1046VH0 contributionsAwesomeLawrence was an exceptional guide/bus driver. He was so knowledgeable and accommodating. He also kept us on schedule, but never felt rushed.Written 18 October 2024
- Nomad223626911460 contributionsBreathtaking DrivethroughWe would say the overall experience was so so with some highs and lows. The challenge of this tour is that many spots are packed together and thus, you will feel rushed. The roadwork ( owing to the recent cyclone) will slow you down. However. The drive along the cook highway by the sea is truly amazing. A short stop at the port douglas. Then off to the Mossman village for a tea break. Then was the race against time to get the ferry across the river that carries the vehicles over. We felt the experience was more enjoyable post lunch where we took the boat ride on the daintree river for crocodile viewing and then headed to Mossman gorge for a great walk. The drive back to Cairns was even more beautiful as the sun was setting and the rays of the setting sun just had turned the sea to gold. We were lucky to have a good weather. Also note the van size is quite small so some may find the seating a little cramped.Written 22 September 2024
- jerneja980 contributionsGreat day trip to the rainforestAmazing tour. Everything went great - from the pickup at my hostel till the end. The bus was good, I loved that it was a small bus for only 14 people but there was only 8 of us so we had space. The driver and tour guide Jim has also been amazing, from the jokes to so many interesting facts the whole way. The whole plan of the trip was also good and we got to see so much. The included morning coffee and lunch were so delicious. I definitely recommend this tour if you’re in Cairns.Written 21 September 2024
- P3442TOjenniferr0 contributionsTop end experience without the worry of driving yourself. A trip of a lifetime. My sister in law, husband and myself have just had the most sensational trip of a lifetime. Everyday was so different but extremely interesting with beautiful scenery and great 4wd tracks. Our accommodation along the way certainly wasn’t 5 star, ( understandable being outback Australia) but it was always clean, comfortable and safe. Laurence our guide was extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure (when he could) to show us anything extra along the journey. Often going off the beaten track to find amazing little creeks, waterfalls, wild brumbys, flowers or anything a bit different. The food was outstanding and most of the time you got to choose what you wanted to eat and how much. Everything was so fresh and you certainly never went hungry. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to travel to the top of Australia. Amazing, well worth the money and an experience we certainly will never forget. Thankyou Discovery Tours and Laurence.Written 20 September 2024
- Alan P0 contributionsA brilliant day.We had an excellent time on this tour, and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Despite changes to the planned activities due to storm damage, the itinerary was excellent. All the sites, including the alternative ones, food, river cruise and ice cream, were fantastic. Overall, the day was very well planned. The tour guide, Carston, was very knowledgeable, and the family learnt a huge amount. Just a brilliant day.Written 13 September 2024
- holidaymakerPerth0 contributionsGreat day outGood value your to see a snapshot of a few different things. Time to swim in the rainforest if we wanted to. Nice beaches although Cape Tribulation wasn’t on the list today due to all the roadworks after the flooding last year. This was out of the tour operators hands and they had informed us prior to the tour. Modern air conditioned vehicle with comfortable seating. The guides Lance and Jim were informative and funny. Recommend day trip, thank you.Written 9 September 2024

We booked this tour after being recommended via Melody in Cairns visiter center. The price might seem higher than others but this tour is well worth it, I can safely say this tour was one of the most memorable I've ever done. Steve was a fountain of knowledge but was also able to deliver that info in a way that we all understood easily. He was also excellent at keeping us on track so that we managed to squeeze a lot in and he kept us well informed of where we were going. The lunch we got was fantastic, the fresh salt water Barramundi was devine and the owner of the restaurant provided fruit from around the world with an explanation of where it came from. There was so much in this tour that I couldn't possibly fit it all in here. I would highly recommend book I ng with these guys and if youre lucky you might get Steve.

Thank you very much for your kind words and we are thrilled that you enjoyed your day and your lunch at the Daintree Tea House. We are glad that you were able to appreciate the benefits of taking a guided tour - the only way to "experience" the real Daintree and it's great to hear that Steve took such good care of you. I will pass on your feedback to him. Thank you for traveling with us.

The tour we did with Steve our guide was incredible. An amazing day out filled with lots of laughs and fun. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable of the area. Taking us to places that we were just in awe of. River cruise was great fun and then CAPE TRIBULATION was so spectacular. This is a must do tour on a visit to cairns. It was certainly a full day and very much worthwhile.

A very full day of adventuring throughout FNQ. The Mercedes bus was extremely comfortable, and our guide, Michelle, was knowledgeable and funny. The lunch was lovely, and our many stops were well planned. Definitely well worth the money! We would highly recommend to anyone who wants a great overview of crocs, indigenous lore, beaches and rainforests. Photos and memories to keep with us for a long time!

Generally very well handled form start to finish. Simon in office was a great help and our guide Steve was brill. Very knowledgable and helpful. The trip is as described and well worth the extra money to beat the crowds and cramped busses. Although we were given an itinerary, there were no timings on it and ultimately my fault for not checking but, the fantastic lunch was scheduled for 11:30. Come on, who has lunch at that time. Apart from that it was an awesome day out. Very highly recommend it.

Darryl our guide gave us a great day, he was so informative and knowledgeable as well as great company. We were a group of 6 friends from Townsville visiting our own back yard as such and we learnt and saw so much that we would not have experienced had we done it on our own. A great day.

This all day private tour was fantastic. We had traveled 14 hours the day before and hit the ground running with Jean at 9 a.m. from our hotel in Port Douglas. He not only was affable, but very knowledgeable about the wildlife and flora in the area. This tour was a fantastic introduction to the area and Australia! Jean knew how to time everything so we missed the crowds. The 9+ hours flew by because of the beauty, activities and Jean's engaging manner. Highly recommend!

My family and I (two adults, two kids under 10) booked this tour while staying in Port Douglas (but they also pick up from Cairns) and absolutely loved it. Our tour guide Carsten knew the area (including the flora and fauna) incredibly well, and he was personable and funny. In one day (8:30-5:15), we were able to cover a lot of territory that we otherwise would have had to rent a car to see.
We started in Mossman Gorge, and those who wanted to were able to swim in the swimming hole. After lunch, we did a terrific crocodile tour. Then we went into Daintree, which was beautiful. We finished up with ice cream and a lookout.
The fact that it was a small group (11 people total) also made for a much better day. It felt more intimate, and we all got to talk to each other.
The food was excellent, too. Scones and jam in the morning and lunch at a terrific place that served fresh barramundi (and kangaroo!) and the most exotic fruit I’ve ever seen. The second to last stop was at a famous Daintree ice cream store that serves exotic, mostly fruit-based ice creams. It was the perfect family trip—interesting and active but not strenuous. Just what we wanted.
My nine year old son wanted me to add: “totally kid friendly, food is great, great things you get to see you, great crocodile tour, everybody is super friendly, and ice cream is delicious.”

Hi John,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It's always lovely to hear how much you enjoyed our full day Cape Tribulation day tour. I'm glad that Carsten made you feel so welcome and was able to help you to experience this area with plenty of time at each of our attractions. Being a small group tour we do try to take the time to allow flexibility in your day and if that means taking time out to show our clients something we think they will enjoy then we can. Our day is as much about the people and of course the kids! It is about the area we visit and our guides do go above and beyond because they love it as much as you will. I will pass on your fabulous feedback to Carsten. Thank you for traveling with us.
Regards Louise
