The BEST day on the Reef possible!
We did the Moore Reef and Fitzroy Island tour, absolutely the best in Cairns for the boat, staff, amenities and experience. We did the guided snorkel tour as an extra and it was brilliant…highly recommend and will definitely do this again!

      Excellent customer service
Due to an issue on my end with my booking, as well as changes in the times Sunlover were actually able to do the transfers I contacted them to cancel my booking. They were wonderful, understanding and exceptionally prompt with the processing. I can only imagine that it would have been equally exceptional customer service if we had been able to use them.

      Best experience on Fitzroy island!!
We went on a Fitzroy island tour with Sunlover Reef Cruise. What I loved about this tour was the time duration on Fitzroy Island. You get to experience Fitzroy island more than enough in a day! We went on a hike, went to the Nudey beach, snorkelling around & spent a day on Nudey Beach exploring! While we were waiting for the boat to go back to Cairns, we spotted some sea turtles on the jetty. Boat came around 5pm and we could enjoy the pre sunset sky at Fitzroy island which was absolutely beautiful ✨ All the staff I have spoken to on the boat, they were all friendly and professional. I highly recommend to book Fitzroy island tour with Sunlover Reef Cruise! It was definitely worth the money.

      Great family day out
Full day Moore reef tour. The pontoon just makes for a relaxing day with plenty of room to move around, sit and chill or do all the other free activities on offer like snorkelling , glass bottom boat, under water observatory, water side into the ocean, fish feeding and the live touch tanks. Great place for little kids with the metal cage for them to swim in, so allowing a the fish to come through. Plenty of stinker suits it fit all shapes and sizes even the cuddliest of us 😍. I would definately recommend this. Lunch was simple but tasty with fresh prawns on offer. Lunch was served for 2hrs so still plenty of time for activities and eating when you're ready.

      Beautiful day out
Great service and very reasonably priced. My friend and I had the best day out on Fitzroy island, there was so much to do and it was very surreal and beautiful to be surrounded by such nature and sights!!

Give the glass bottom boat on Fitzroy Island a miss.
My husband and I took a day trip from Cairns to Fitzroy Island. Professional, helpful staff on the Fitzroy Island boat, and everything ran to schedule. Beautiful scenery as we walked/hiked to Nudey Beach, which was well worth the trek. The trip included the option of a glass bottom boat trip or snorkelling experience, and we chose the glass bottom boat. The 30 minute boat trip was very underwhelming, the boat hovered for a few minutes over some bleached out looking coral, with a spiel delivered by the driver, and then raced back for the next tour group. It very much felt like a money making exercise that I would not recommend. There was also no advance notice that the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre on the Island was closed. We ended up coming back 2 hours early and were a bit disappointed overall.

      Great Barrier Reef
Overall a well managed and professional cruise and knowledgeable trip to the Great Barrier Reef. Plenty of time (4hours) to enjoy the reef and snorkel or scuba or helicopter or ocean walk. Entirely up to you how active and involved you want to be. Crew are very friendly and always there to help you have an enjoyable day.

      Fitzroy Island
Great snorkeling experience at Nudey Beach. Glad we had stinger suits as we did see a few different stingers and also non stinging jellies. Saw turtles, various fish. Beautiful clear water.

There and back in one piece
The Sunlover Reef transfer from Cairns to Fitzroy Island was spacious and quick. The boat drops off passengers to Fitzroy Island first before moving on to the other activities. On the way back, we got confused and queued up for the Fitzroy Island Adventure boat. Just keep an eye out lol

AN EXCELLENT TOUR! WELL WORTH THE DOLLARS!
We were picked up by bus from our accommodation in the late afternoon & taken to the river to board the boat. We started down the river with the boat captain offering commentary along the way. We enjoyed beautiful scenery along both sides of the river but the best was yet to come as we returned back the spectacular sunset we witnessed was breathtaking, picture prefect. When we returned to shore the dinner was well underway & we were able to buy drinks & acquaint ourselves with our fellow tablemates. It was no time & our table called to be served a scrumptious meal & not long after we started to eat, our show began. Our entertainer was Owen Blundell, who is an extremely talented musician who offers one of the best shows of seen. He plays many interesting instruments perfectly, offers an array of songs, characters & plenty of comedy in the mix. From the reaction of the audience I think he was a big hit! At the end of the night we were returned to our accommodation. We had an excellent experience on this tour, we thoroughly enjoyed the service offered, the food, the river cruise and the show. I definitely highly recommend this activity to anyone.

Fabulous Snorkeling adventure on the Reef! Worth the time and rough boat ride!
Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef was fantastic! So many colorful fish of all different sizes! The water was warm and very buoyant! The food was surprisingly good. The boat ride was very rough and Entertaining to watch the staff deposit the barf bags! Was a fabulous day and worth the trip to the platform!

      Paradise island …..
Fitzroy Island not to be missed! A little bit of paradise with the clearest water and beautiful fish and coral to explore. Be prepared for a bit of a climb on large stones when exploring the route to nudie beach but so worth it!!

What a cracker of a day!
We headed out for a day trip to Fitzroy Island with no idea what to expect. The customer service was amazing. We opted into the snorkelling guided tour and the team could not have been more helpful or accomodating for my 8yr old, highly active and headstrong son and his not as active mother. The water was crystal clear and we saw a huge range of fish l, clams and turtles through out the day. Great option for those not wanting a long boat ride and with young ones learning to swim and snorkel. Thank you so much for a memorable day!

We decided to pay extra for an outer reef experience and the kids were keen on this one due to the waterslide. It helped that we also got a good deal through our resort.

We have 3 kids 13, 11 and 6 who are good swimmers. They all loved it and so did we as we did not have to entertain them constantly.

We saw great coral and many fish as well as turtles. The staff were all very helpful and we learned a lot about the reef.

We did not feel it was too crowded on the pontoon but there were a lot of Asian tourists however that is to be expected for a tour like this. The trip out was ok and there were various info sessions to fill in time. The weather was excellent and calm so we had no issues with sea sickness.

The four hours on the reef went very quick but was adequate. The food was ok and there was plenty but no good options for young kids.

Myself and my two older kids did the reef safari which was good and perfect for anyone who does not swim well or has never done snorkeling before. A marine biologist takes you out beyond the boundary to see more coral and explains what things are along the way while you hold on to a life buoy. We were good swimmers and had done reef snorkeling several times before so we probably didn’t see anything we couldn’t already see within the reef area. It was useful however to get an overview but probably not worth the extra money for us.

We have not done other reef tours so can not compare this one to others but overall we had a great experience and would recommend it to others with kids.

Overall it was a good day out on the reef. However the staff could have made more of an effort to ensure passengers adhere to covid safe practices. The day before you receive an email stating that only one person per booking was to wait in queue for check in. That didn’t happen and because of that the queue was lengthy and no staff took control of the situation. Some didn’t know about the Queensland Check In app process which added to the delays. Also it didn't help that only one staff member was manning the desk for quite sometime before it was realised that it was getting out of hand and eventually another person helped with the check in. Just before you board the craft you are pounced by their photographer who didn’t take any great photos as he was rushing us through and the results were reflected in the photos. Next there was another staff member who enforced the hand santising before boarding. That was the only enforcement employed throughout the experience. As you make your way to your seats you end up with other people sitting right next to you who don't seem to care about the 1.5m distant rule. Again staff did not assist in reminding passengers and suggesting to sit elsewhere. I am in favour of supporting local tourism industries but they really need to make a concerted effort to keep their customers safe. Both the snorkelling and the semi submersible was great. They need to wsrn you about the water slide as you need to protect your ears from a sudden thrush of water in the end. I ended up with a headache. Some good photos were taken by the underwater photographer but unfortunately they do not cater for Android users if you want an electronic copy. It's only exclusive to iPhone users which is appalling. It 2021 and Mac users are still backward. They do offer a copy on USB stick but they slog you extra as a penalty. They would not offer email, or cloud download, or bluetooth or even connecting your phone with your own usb cable. This is why PCs are more popular and Android more flexible.
Lunch provided was reasonable with complimentary tea/coffee/water. Showers available on the pontoon to rinse off from sea water. You are told not to board the craft wet and to dry off completely. Again this was not managed well as we saw passengers arriving wet for their lunch at the counter.

A tick in the box of course. Very nice experience if you are a marine lover to see the coral reefs and beautiful fishes.
We booked the tickets for the cruise + Scuba introductory diving + Sea-walker helmet diving from Cairns itself in a travel agency. If you are open to dates then you can do it after arriving in Cairns but otherwise better to book through travel agencies back home or online. This booking costed us $705.
It’s around a 1.5hrs journey in the cruise to and from the pontoon. Once you reach the pontoon you are open to do your activities at the allocated times. Glass bottom view and semi-submersible view tours runs every half and hour. I would recommend to do these tours first before getting into the water otherwise you will be indulged in the water activities and likely to forget about the tours.
The water slide I would say is more suitable for confident swimmers because we are in the ocean. Of course we have lifeguards watching you all time if you need help.
Life jackets for all sizes, the duck shaped wings for the feet, the lycra vests, equipment for snorkel🤿 are all available on board in the pontoon. Change rooms (cabins) are available if required.
The food was good, buffet open for an hour and half. There were margarita pizza slices, bread roll with butter, jasmine rice with options of chicken, beef and veg curries, cheese platter with slices of salami and ham, prawns 🦐 , fruit platter with banana bread. Also, tea, coffee choc chip cookies are available all time.
Other snacks, cold drinks, ice creams available in the cruise with extra money.
We opted to get photographs with ‘airdrop’ option and costed us $105. If you have planned this then you can get the photographs on board to take any number of your photos.
Crew and the cruise was awesome. Plenty of seats in air conditioned areas, at the covered deck and uncovered decks.

Avoid this tour! the whole family had a terrible experience let a lone how much we feel robbed. We are a family of 3 (2 adults and a child). We live in Australia so we have been a lot on sea but never ever felt sea sick. But the boat driver was going so fast in a windy day that you almost felt in a Ninja going up and down. We and everyone else in the boat felt sick. The first stop was in Fitzroy island, we havent done any activity we had to get off as all 3 of us felt si sick. The crew didnt help in anything just to assure us that they are not going to pay us back a penny of our money! just get out and we are not paying you anything! We stayed for an hour in Fitzroy island and head back to Cairns on a ferry that we have to pay for that too. Interestingly, on the way back none of us got sick as the boat driver was not driving the boat crazy! Back to Sunlover reception she is telling us the driver has to go fast to be back ontime no matter what is the weather condition, so it doesnt matter we are not getting what we paid for, they get their money. thats all about it! This was not a cheap tour and we feel robbed and there is nowhere that we can take our complaint to

This trip was recommended to me by my hotel and I was not disappointed. You leave Reef Terminal at about 9am, bound for Fitzroy island. This is only a quick stop, then its off to Moore Reef where the pontoon awaits. I found the staff super friendly and chatty and I was well looked after. There are several activities you can do at additional cost, such as scuba diving on the atoll, the seawalker or a helicopter ride. The glass bottom boat, semi-submersible (not going right now) and snorkelling are all included, as are all the snorkelling gear and lycra suits, which are great for sun protection as there is no need for sunscreen which saves the reef. There is plenty of gear available in all sizes. There is a lifeguard on duty which is great. Snorkellers are required to stay within a roped off area for safety, but there is plenty to see, with the reef so close at times I was less than a metre above it. I saw many beautiful reef fish (parrotfish are my favourite), brilliantly colored coral, even an octopus hunting for its dinner.

Lunch was a buffet, but they serve you due to COVID. I actually liked this...it prevents people being piggies and its so much cleaner. Prawns are included and the food was very tasty. You get heaps.

Photos are taken throughout the day and are available for sale, $25 for the first pic then $10 thereafter. I chose the usb for $105 which had all the photos taken of me (turns out fish like to photobomb you, who knew?) Plus they threw in some truly amazing reef shots they had taken themselves (about 30) so it seemed the best value.

My mother, 4 year old son and I traveled to Australia for the first time and Cairns was our second stop. You can't visit Australia and not go to the Great Barrier Reef (GBR), right? We booked our tour with Sunlover Reed cruise. While the boat is big and there is a lot of peole, everythingw as great. From the well experienced staff...they were on point with throw up bags as MANY passengers immediately got sea sick (for the staff, they were already prepared!). The activities on the boat were great-a water slide out in the middle of the GBR (that was my favorite!), the snorkeling, glass bottom boat, marine life viewing room, aquatic life lesson, and a safe kid pool out in the ocean! This tour was well worth the money and we are so glad we had a wonderful outing to the GBR with this awesome company!

Granted - I’m not even off the boat yet, but unless the Captain ploughs it into the jetty - nothing will change my mind about today.
From the checkin staff, snack bar ladies and tour guides, to the photographers! The staff could not have done enough to make this day exactly what we were dreaming of from our first day on the Great Barrier Reef. They are passionate about education and protection of the reef and their energy is contagious!!
We chose Sunlover because it seemed a little bit more appropriate for our children 12 & 13. Waterslides, scuba diving, sea walks and snorkel safaris, we did it all! Sure, there’s some money involved in doing all of those things (not the waterslides, they’re free!), but for us, we’re here once, and it did not disappoint! And I was really surprised with how affordable these extras were. Even the beer on the boat home was cheap! Please note - if you choose not to pay for the additional activities, you’ll still have the most wonderful day. Due to Covid, there were only 80 people on the boat, which made it a lovely, relaxed day. Completely exceeded my expectations and I will tell everyone I know who comes here to choose Sunlover! Thanks guys!

All day tour to Great Barrier Reef. Left in morning for 1:45 trip to platform on reef. Rough ride once in open ocean with nearly half the boat being seasick. Once at platform there were activities such as snorkeling, diving boat tours. We did semi sub tour which was ok with views of reef and fish but glass was dirty so everything looked green not the vibrant colours the coral and fish really are. Buffet lunch was served and was fine. Snorkeling was great with a large roped off area to explore. Hundreds of fish and corals to see.
Trip back was not as rough as trip out but again many were sick.
Was ok if you like water sports but I would recommend a short 1/2 day excursion to Green or Frazier islands. Nearly 4 hours of boat trips was quite long.

My husband and I had an absolutely amazing time snorkelling and diving. The staff were great and I could not believe the amount of wildlife on Moore Reef. Right at the end of our snorkelling time we even got to see a sea turtle! Being my first time snorkelling (and diving), my advise would be to go out to the edge of the nets (if you are decent at swimming) , as you can see where the reef drops off and there are some amazing things to be seen in the depths. I wasn’t expecting the main reef to be as close to the surface as it was, so you do actually get to see LOTS of fish etc.

The diving experience was great, and our instructors was incredible. I had some issues (my own doing) just after getting images taken and had to come back to the surface. However my husband continued the tour and absolutely loved it. I would absolutely do this again.

The pontoon itself is set up very well, with multiple change rooms, a massive slide, kids section, heaps of sizes of body suits, snorkels & flippers - all in good conditions. The lunch was also good.

Photos - If you go diving / have more then two people in your group, go with the $99 all photo package where all of your photos can be downloaded to an iPhone.

Absolutely fabulous, the best Great Barrier Reef experience you can have. I cannot recommend more. We travelled out with sunlover to Moore reef on Christmas Day 2020 and it was so good we are going back again!! everything is well maintained and also well set up there are so many staff on hand to help you everywhere you turn, you are and feel completely safe and in good hands. We went on the snorkel Safari and can I say you must do this it is well worth it. We were a family of four with a senior citizen and an eight-year-old boy and this was perfect for them both plenty of activities on the pontoon and in the water. Great lunch!! Definitely this time a year you have to wear the stingers suits, but these are provided and just chuck one on to be safe all of the snorkelling gear is also provided. Just a tip though even if you wouldn’t usually suffer from motion sickness I recommend you take the pill before you leave, half of our family were almost sick going out which was very unusual but also many families around us had children vomiting, however the crew were very helpful and offered informative instructions about everything to try and assist any sickness etc. The crew is just amazing I do have to mention this because they really make the experience so special.

Wow, thank you for your awesome review! We are stoked that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas Day at Moore Reef with Sunlover. Our entire team work so hard to ensure that our pontoon and facilities are maintained and continually strive to provide an incredible experience for our passengers. Your accolades will certainly be passed onto them! We are very proud of our dedicated and incredibly talented crew. One of the many benefits of travelling to a pontoon are the huge range of activities that are available to enhance your day at the reef, like the glass bottom boat and even the waterslide. The Guided Snorkel Tour is one of the most popular optional extras, we are thrilled you loved it! We hope to see you again soon, and thank you again for your amazing feedback. Best wishes, Amy
